Oops, wrong taxi.

This is the single and only reason why i will always buy a Toyota in Nigeria. Simplicity over performance. Most Toyota enthusiast have either suffered under mechanics or are avoiding the nightmare all together. If i am to ever own a fleet of expensive cars, there must be a Toyota there.

Honda's are performance driven no doubt while Toyota's are built to take abuse and last, this is not saying Honda's dont last or Toyota's dont have performance engines either. Both manufacturers know their strengths and have built on it over the years, a Toyota is not trying to be a Honda and neither is a Honda trying to be a Toyota. Pick the Civic & Corolla rivalry for example, over the years the Civic is known to be slightly faster and more fuel efficient, even in 2021. But that didnt push Toyota into adding a bigger engine or a Turbo into the Corolla, its still that same slow (130HP) economic car, where as the new Civic comes with a 1.5litre Turbo. The Corolla still out sells the Civic even with all its bells and whistles.

We keep on blaming bad leadership and bad government as excuses for our horrible behaviours both at home and abroad. Who makes up the leadership and the government? Is it not u and i, the citizens of Nigeria, are they foreigners? I know many leaders of today who 5yrs ago were complaining like everyone else, what impact have they done today??

Nigerian needs total reorientation, corruption does not start from government offices but from our homes. The average Nigerian is always ready to cheat, out smart his way out of any situation or use his position to take undue advantage. Its time we stop the blame game and look for solutions.

Some years back i was in South Africa, my first day in SA the first news i watched on TV was their largest drug bust, the culprits were Nigerians. I used a cybercafe close to where i stayed, i was always the last customer to the leave, one day the owner called me pleading that i should try leave earlier because bad boys rob people at night, when she asked were i was was from, when i told her she said "Ah no problem the robbers are your brothers if they see you, just identify yourself". Last last before i left SA i was robbed and my 5k naira i wanted to use as airport taxi was taken along with other stuff.

We should blame ourselves first before government for making Nigerians run away from their country, but when we get over there all blames lie on us.

I came down from my ride, only to see that i was hit by a Lexus IS. Was this guy trying to drive through me like i wasnt there?? WTF!

The driver, in his late twenties stood frozen, murmuring "i'm sorry i'm so sorry". Miraculously both cars were undamaged regardless of the impact, i just had some scuffs i could live with.

I swear if it was a benz, u guys would have gotten a better story.

@op it wasnt fair comparing a 09 Nissan Altima to a Matrix, that should be compared to a Camry/ Avalon! The problem with your Sienna shouldn't be compared with the handling of a newly acquired Altima either. Compare a Sienna to a Nissan quest, you will cringe!

On a lighter note Nissan makes good cars, but they cant stand the level of abuse the Toyota will, thats a fact. From all the three major Asian brands i have owned Nissan was by far the most painful. But another mans case maybe different. Take care of your car and it will serve you well.

You heard, did not see. I havent seen, but i have heard alot of crap... It doesnt mean it cannot happen due to abuse & poor maintenance. I drove a 2005 Accord for 2 years and mine never came off!

That problem affects just a few specific year models. All cars have their bad years, even the BENZs & BMWs. Have u seen a 2013 Accord on the roadq? Even the 2008 models are very tough cars.

At a year and about 4 months Zee has finally reached a size to intimidate. As tall and heavy as some males, i am really pleased by what she has become. She just finished her second heat, I am not in a hurry to mate her either, but i will do that on her third heat.

You can see what happened to the much bigger Toyota Avensis in a shunt with a Volvo XC70. Now imagine that was a Corolla hmm

This thread is about cars with good resale value and not the safest cars. Anyway, from 2015 all Toyotas including the Corolla comes with Toyota Safety Sense. This system has;
Collision detection with Automatic breaking
Lane assist
Automatic headlights
Road sign assist

Corollas from 2014 & above are not expensive for nothing. It delivers on its promise; safety and reliability. It doesnt want to be fast or big, that is for the Camrys and Avalons. All the negativity comes from 2003 to 2007 Corolla which is still a very very reliable car and will outlast many modern vehicles.

It is not too early or too late to get married at 35, just as its never too early or too late to go to jail at 35! It aint normal either.

Your hatred for Corolla will not stop its sales and appeal. The Corolla is the worlds highest selling car for a reason. A heavy v6/v8 ride does not equate to safety on the highways.

did you consider when driving in terms of balacing on the ground corrola is just like a bycicle, while muzzle would seat properly? also muzzle is more spacious.

Your idea is based on popular say, and not based on practical.

I owned a 2012 Corolla, travelled monthly to kaduna from Abuja for 2 yrs, it is not as heavy on the ground as a Camry but it certainly aint no bicycle, except you are a speed-demon. wetin you go come call 206, piccanto or yaris? A 2013 Corolla may not be a rocket but its a very good, problem free ride, to me its even better looking than a Camry and alot more reliable, the interior is better than that peeling interior of a Camry (Muzzle).

@OP if you need space, speed, peeling interior then go for the Camry. But if you want a compact, reliable, slightly slower quieter ride with better looks (subjective) then go for the 2013 Corolla S.

No mind all these Corolla yabbers, many dont understand the joy of going to the mechanic only for servicing and general maintenance.

Rolls Royce on the other hand is in a class of its own, there are no two identical Rolls Royce ever built as they are not mass produced. Almost every single detail is customized to the owners desire and they are hand built.

I dont see Toyota any where in this vehicle, not even their Logo! Cool bus though, but i cant overlook a Landcruiser or even 4runner for this.

I get ur point. But would you have hated driving a 2010 IS350 or 2010Es350 more than your 2015 Corolla? They are within same price range but both Lexus have way better handling. I also contemplated this but wanted something newer, i on the other hand like my Corolla, its slow, not a looker but gets the job done and keeps me under the radar.
