nemesis2u: lolzzz
thats maroon not pink
i have seen Indian paramilitary with these maroon shoes , there is no benefit per se its tradition , something passed down over the years.
if u insist it kind of helps to loosely differentiate between different military, paramilitary , reserve arms and also helps to obfuscate clandestine operations involving say SF soldiers dressed up as para military etc etc.
it seems ur fascinated with pink Its just old leather boots bro. Once you break a pair in, you tend to wear them for years and years. One of the reasons the army still uses them is because they last so long. As they fade they go reddish, partly due to the polish they use, partly because of the material they use. My father still wears his from the 1970's when he goes hiking. |

nemesis2u: related to the discussion above regarding leopard
a weapon is as good as the user , without proper doctrines, tactics and training even the most powerful tank will end up getting blown up.
also u need the right weapon combination
for confronting anti tank teams armed with ATGMS the best weapon is terminator type heavy IFV . in the absence of such weapons systems the next best option is to use infantry combined with tanks to run down hostile anti tank teams. if u use tanks in the standalone role as seen in syria by the turks , the tank crew will be bogged down due to lack of situational awareness (hatch down condition) and vulnerable to multi direction swarming attacks from behind terrain and buildings.
if u have 5 tanks and 10 squads of accompanying infantry armed with sniper guns , RPGs/LAW , LMGs , grenade launchers , Tactical UAVs etc u and ur tanks will have a high survival rate .
u will have 6 of the teams scout/recon ahead and occupy commanding positions/ vulnerable points with 4 remaining back to guard the flanks and cover the movement of the tanks.
the scout teams will use the UAVs , optics etc to locate and identify hostile anti tank teams even before they get to locate the tanks and neutralize them by themselves or by calling fire from the tanks. possibilities r endless
rest is self explainable
conventional approach to asymmetrical warfare is suicidal and points to lack of thinking/risk taking among the military commanders. This. |

Henry240: Long story short, poor NATO training. The NATO member with the second largest military can't fight, and has to call on the enemy Russia, to help out with airstrikes in the NATO member's disastrous military campaign in Al-bab. "Poor NATO training" That confirms it, you have literally no idea what NATO is. |

Nok234: 2 possibility, 1 German tanks are garbage (Im not sure ...), or 2 German ( and their western friends ) sells garbage to none true ally countries but this also is a fact nothing can really stop an ATMG seriously, and also depending on IEDs are some who are really deadly 30 year old tank designed to fight tanks (not atgm's) facing 20 year old ATGM's. Who do you think will win? jln115: How about a 3rd possibility......incompetent crew? Yep, they didnt store their ammunition properly - leo 2 has 42 rounds for its main gun 15 (the "ready rounds" are stored in the turret bustle, which has a huge armored door seperating it from the crew compartment and which has blow out panels, so if the compartment is hit, it directs the blast away from the crew. You can store another 27 INSIDE THE CREW COMPARTMENT (next to the driver) Leo 2 crews operating in Asymetrical warfare (Canada) only load the 15 ready rounds because the risk of taking an ATGM to the side is so high. Look at the picture of the destroyed Leo2's. The entire front of the tank is blown off... which means that they loaded the extra 27 rounds. Idiots. Henry240: They are a NATO member, so that's not an issue. That 3rd possibility doesn't exist.
You guys are posting OFF-TOPIC! Henry "I dont understand NATO" 120

***OFF TOPIC***
Two Turkish Leo 2's got utterly wiped out by an IS ambush. IED strike + sustained ATGM fire.
This makes the Leo 2A4 first of the modern NATO tanks to suffer a 100% confirmed K-kill (Catastrophic kill) from enemy fire.
Note: Just to be as clear as humanly possible, some earlier pictures of K-kills may be the result of Turks destroying their tanks to prevent capture (Usually with F16's or demo charges). This, however, is 100% confirmed to be a result of enemy fire.

Henry240: Oga, I find this your comment to be very offensive. You should post comments with facts, not some random opinion when making comparisons.
Nigeria is not second to anybody in Africa
We flew 6777 hours of combat sorties in support of Operation Lafiya Dole in 2016 without any form of incidence.
That's the figure for the North-East for 2016.
We also flew in the North-West, North-Central, South-South and South-East.
Nobody in Sub-Saharan Africa flew this much for a single operation. Nigeria's total figure is higher.
There are 30 combat videos released by the Air Force in 2016, all of these combat sorties showed a military with an unmatched professionalism.
Please, do not post comments on things you do not know.
Thank you. Nigeria is not second to anybody in Africa? Brah, take your own advice and do not comment on things you dont know. |

The number does not include the units delivered in 2016, which the Ukrainian MoD confirms.

Henry240: I choose the middle option. 10 BTR-60s, the second LST would carry mainly LAVs. I'll say 15 - 20.
In reality, we have lost that capability. Although plans are in place to replace our LST's.
In my opinion, we require 2 Makassar type LPD's.
As for T-72, we have only 50 units, not even enough for Nigeria engagements. However this sort of intervention doesn't require heavy MBTs like the T-72 or Vickers.
The Scorpion light tank with it's 76mm gun is by far the more reasonable option. Second vessel would only be able to contain roughly the same number of vehicles, still 10 BTR's and nearly 600 men is basically the Gambian army. Pretty sure you only have 12 T72's at the moment |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Patchesagain: 3:13am On Jan 19, 2017 |
Henry240: It is impossible to airlift a T-72. We'll have to wait and see what we deploy. It is because of events like these i always advocate the Nigerian army invests in LAVs.
You never know where you'll be needed. If we had vehicles like the GAIA LAV or a locally built version, I'd have been more comfortable. If you had maintained your Type 502 LST then you could have: 5 T-54/55 tanks + x4 trucks or artillery pieces + x35 fully-equipped marines or 10 BTR-60 APCs + x66 fully-equipped marines or 540 fully-equipped marines You could have landed a force equal to the size of half the gambian army with one ship Anyhow, you guys dont have enough T72's... this would have been a job for the mighty Vickers Tank! |

Henry240: In english? In international politics, gunboat diplomacy (or "Big Stick ideology" in U.S. history) refers to the pursuit of foreign policy objectives with the aid of conspicuous displays of naval power—implying or constituting a direct threat of warfare, should terms not be agreeable to the superior force.[1]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunboat_diplomacyGrey Ambassador is the term used to describe a Naval vessel being used in a diplomatic role. Grey because of the hull as well as the ambiguous implications of using a military vessel for diplomacy. |
