Politics › Re: Ogun To Fund 47.23 Per Cent Of 2015 Budget With IGR by PaulJohn1: 8:45pm On Nov 18, 2014 |
tit: My brother, you are talking of urban renewal? how long does it take a serious government to build house? how long does it take to build gutter?
Amosun has been in power for four good years and he has not bought a light buld for Ogun people! Ogun state has nothing to show for it! You can take that statement to the bank. The man and his thugs are bleeding Ogun dry. And what do i have here? Some paid lastman thugs and hangers-on coming to sing the praises of a failed government! some of them are even being sponsored abroad in pounds by money forcelly collected from market women in the villages of Ogun. You people are very wicked! Fear god. You should all be calling the spendthrift governor to order. Really?! Urban renewal is about building gutters?! Sorry, I don't think I have much to say again. Remain blessed. |

Gbawe: You have spotted precisely what is most important about this development. This is what we want and should insist on in Nigeria. States should be up and doing in the quest to increase IGR and attain self-sufficiency which comes after a State can independently raise all the funds it needs to finance to run herself.
Most States of Nigeria can achieve this over time if governors are innovative, visionary, driven and totally focused. Whether some people want to see what matters or not, it is a fact that raising IGR aggressively, in the drive to becoming self-financing, is a cornerstone policy of the then ACN and now APC.
This is indeed an impressive development. Truly impressive. But I believe more can be done. It is very important that states diligently look inward and exploit all means available to increase their IGRs, because of the current decrease in oil price. Many states' monthly allocation have been drastically reduced that if it continues like it's going, many states won't be able to survive. Since the FG that has been doling out money everymonth itself is going broke. I'm sure Ogun's IGR is mainly from tax, thanks to the high numbers of private higher institutions(highest in the country), massive cement and steel rolling factories scattered allover the state. But this is not enough. The government should look into service rendering (transport services like lightrail...) and production. |

tit: you see all the fiff-raffs above? I shall ignore them. let me dignify you with a reply. Has Amosun given the good people of Ogun state drinking water? Has he given them good roads? Can they sleep at night with their two naked eyes? Are they scared of falling into the hands of gbomo gbomo people?
Why are you defending bad thing? even if you are gaining from them, this is internet, you can tell the truth for once in your life. Madam, if those before Amosun have done what the governor is doing presently in term of urban renewal and provision of necessary infrastructures that'll make the state a comfortable place for those living there, all these points you listed would be what he'll be working on now. It's a step at a time. No doubt there are LOTS to be done. |
Politics › Re: Ogun To Fund 47.23 Per Cent Of 2015 Budget With IGR by PaulJohn1: 7:54pm On Nov 18, 2014 |
Wow! Impressive. Gradually, Ogun state is reducing her dependence on Federal allocation. Lagos has done it. Wish ever states of the federation can also do this. Federal allocation should be some sort of bonus and emergency intervention funds.
From my rough calculation. If Ogun state generate an internal revenue of N99.35b in 2015, which is 47.23% of a budget of N210.354b. Then the state generates N8.279 each month.
Awesome. |

atlwireles: Too many brain washed people in this country. You leave your country, where you pose daily as big boy and big girl, to become houseboy in Oyinboland. You begin to boast of 24hrs supply as your dividend of leaving Nigeria. Na only una waka come . Make them enter Europe, that when they will see real suffering. Foolish mentality will finish the lazy ones in this country. Which big boy and/or girl are they posing like in their country? You mean being jobless and living in a place where the leaders at all levels have failed them, and living on daily STUFFs for survival is befitting? With no good road, unstable power, insecurity and bad health care institutions. Where graduates have no hope of getting job or where M.sc. holders are applying for driving. I believe many jobless Nigerians would prefer to do those petty jobs in those countries where they have reasonable leaders that provide their citizens with simple infrastructures to live a meaningful and COMFORTABLE life. Let our government provide us with stable power, security and good roads, and watch how the desire of an average Nigerian to seek greener pasture outside the country drops. If you have a good job and living a comfortable life, be thankful to your creator. Calling those jobless "lazy ones" is unfair, because the good atmosphere to make EVERYONE thrive in WHATEVER we lay our hands upon, which is the responsibility of our leaders is not provided. |

Politics › Re: Which African Country Is Nigeria's Best Friend? by PaulJohn1: 1:04am On Nov 10, 2014 |
I think it's Benin Republic. Seme border is the busiest border Nigeria has because of the constant movement of goods and people to and fro Benin-Nigeria. Many Nigerians, especially in the south of Nigeria's west recognize or are familiar with cotonou than some Nigerian cities and even states. It wasn't too long I heard Nigeria has a city called Potiscom. (not sure of the spelling). The least travelled person in my house has been to Cotonou(Benin) more than once. Finally, Benin is one county I don't think Nigeria has ever had issues with. Same can't be said of Cameroon, Ghana, Chad, SA, Kenya, Niger Rep. |

okeke00: can we have exchange of Governor please. Give md akpabio and take Obiano Expect nothing impressive from Akpabio if he's the governor of Anambra with Anambra's present little monthly allocation and IGR. No reasonable governor receiving what AKS gets as monthly allocation, whose state population is as sparse as AKS won't perform wonders. |

maestroferddi: I can see that you were taken in by the TVC jingle in which they claim to be telling the African story through African eyes.
I don't know what a world class institution connotes in your book, but in mine objectivity and fairness are among the unimpeachable qualities. Going by your "qualities of world class institutions", the likes of BBC, CNN and other western media setup to propagate western superiority and talk ill of those states seen as a threat to their dominance or the Chinese CCTV are definitely not 'worldclass', right? My own quality of a world class TV station is simply how wide the coverage is and how detailed those coverages are. And believe me, none of our indiginous stations covers Africa better that the said TV station. NB: Channels TV is indisputably Nigeria's fairest station in broadcasting local news. |
Politics › Re: Nigeria, Ebola And The Myth Of White Saviours By Aljazeera by PaulJohn1: 2:36pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
maestroferddi: TVC ko NBC ni.
Is it the APC propaganda network or is there another?
Only Channels comes any close... I mentioned TVCNews because of this We must build world class independent media houses to tell our stories Is TVCNews not a world class TV station? Is the station telling African stories? If yes, then I don't think I'm wrong mentioning the station. |
