The State government of Osun state, in partnership with RLG, a multinational technology company based in Ghana is to build a phone manufacturing company in Ilesha, 0sun State. The company which will begin operations in the next couple of weeks, and would produce various devices for the local market and for export. According to the government of Osun, the establishment of the phone manufacturing company in the state is to create employment opportunities for youths in the state as well as make telephone and related devices affordable for the people. It would also boost the nation’s information Communications Technology (ICT) industry as well as afford more people, particularly in the local areas opportunity to have access to mobile phones. Meanwhile, speaking at the year 2013 Nigerian Telecom Development Lecture (NITDEL) in Lagos, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya, commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for setting up the modern telecommunication and mobile devices manufacturing company in the state. The Airtel boss, who noted that telecommunication has become a way of life of people across the world, lauded the vision of the Aregbesola government in looking beyond the immediate by making his government ICT-driven. He equally lauded the governor for his technological revolution in the education sector with the pioneering e-learning device called Opon-Imo. According to him, there is no doubt that the Governor of the State of Osun is one of the best promoters of ICT in the country adding “he has demonstrated this with the Opon-Imo (the Tablet of Knowledge) for the secondary school students.” “The manufacturing of phone in the state is another huge boost for the telecoms industry, the local production of phone in Osun would certainly help a large number of people to have access to phones and other telecom devices thereby expanding the state’s and the nation’s ICT base.” While saying that all should encourage Governor Aregbesola to do more things of what people want, Ogunsanya called on government at all levels to help the players in the telecom sector by creating an enabling environment for the development of ICT, particularly the laying of fiber optic cables for the expansion of the county’s broad band infrastructure. Ogunsanya said but for the robust support being provided by the governor, the RLG Company would not have found the business environment conducive enough to operate. http://www.osundefender.org/?p=123199 |

The presidency never wanted him Tambuwal as a speaker, neither did he become a speaker by the support of those loyal to Jonathan. The APC reps and some PDP reps(same set of people against Jonathan) made him the speaker. Jonathan's supporters are too few and are the minority in the green chamber, which makes it impossible to impeach Tambuwal. Jonathan better be careful because it might later backfire, just like he 'factionized' NGF which lead to 'factioning' of his PDP. In the long run it might not favor him. Wetin even be my own sef?! so far my governor is working, all is well. |

The most pathetic part is how majority of the easterners on this forum were overwhelmed, rejoiced and pledged their support for Charles Soludo. Unknown to them that Jonathan and Obi had the plan to deceive him 'Soludo' out of PDP, kill and bury him in APGA just because he is a friend of Atiku which might be stumbling block for Jonathan's 2015 ambition. |

Italian Palm Oil Processing Company Relocates To Ile-ife, Osun State.http://www.osundefender.org/?p=121708 |
September 17, 2013 Stakeholders of All Progressives Congress (APC), in the South-West are alarmed by the lull in political activities as regards the newly registered party. The lull, checks revealed, could be due to the absence of its leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who has been away abroad for medical attention. Against this backdrop, Daily Sun learnt at the weekend that some concerned stakeholders were putting pressure on the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, to assume the leadership of the party in the zone in an acting capacity, pending the arrival of Tinubu. It would be recalled that the former Lagos State governor, about a month ago travelled overseas for knee surgery. But one of Tinubu’s political sons and Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Jide Jimoh has allayed the fears over Tinubu’s state of health, saying, “Jagaban is okay.” Jimoh, who visited the former governor in the United Kingdom, last week told Daily Sun in Lagos that “oga is recovering fast,” adding that “he even walks without crutches.” Investigations however, revealed that the stakeholders’ anxiety was borne out of the fear that if not given adequate exposure, people might begin to see the new party as an unserious group, thereby robbing it of the required goodwill and patronage. A chieftain of the party in Osogbo, Osun State, who craved anonymity, confided in Daily Sun that, “if something concrete is not done to arrest the situation now, the party may suffer electoral setback, especially in some states like Anambra, Osun and Ekiti where elections will hold this year and next year respectively.” Another party chieftain in Lagos State also expressed fears yesterday that, “the lull in the party, especially in the South-West, zone, which is the senior partner in the alliance that threw up the party, is worrisome,” asserting that “someone must deputise for Asiwaju Tinubu in the zone until his return.” The source, said that Aregbesola would have been asked to deputise for Tinubu nationally if it were the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), explaining that, “now that we have other parties in the new party, we can limit Aregbesola’s area of operation to the South-West where we are the senior partner in the merger arrangement. Mum, however, was the word those contacted for comments begged not to be dragged into the issue. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/politics/s-west-apc-aregbesola-to-act-for-tinubu-as-leader/

Why do we like to cook up stories to tarnish others image for whatever reason best known to us? I trust the FBI, no dulling moment, they would have arrested him. Let's not forget that this same Tinubu went for one program like that this year in the US, but the FBI they wanted us to believe made this report never arrested him. If I am not mistaken, Tinny is presently in New York for treatment, yet the FBI never arrested him. And here we have our very daft and shallow minded Nigerians behaving like baboons that many of them are. Same way some claimed Buhari is a major sponsor of Boko haram, yet the EFCC, SSS, and other agencies that are under the federal government that could have been used to gather intelligence and arrest him are all unable to trace the islamic sect to him, but these same set of moronic and insane member are hell bent on v@mitting trash. I am not a fan of Tinubu, and also not a fan of liars like the op. |
Impressive. How I wish individuals also build things like this in non-commercial states in Nigeria, everything must not be a government thing. Steadily Uyo It is not easy to be an oil producing state and to have a reasonable and thinking governor. Unlike our bros is Asaba(Delta) and Yenagoa(Bayelsa), very clueless set of governors. |

The amount spent on the importation of those materials notwithstanding, the country recorded a favourable balance of trade, with export volume exceeding import volume, as the total value of external merchandise trade amounted to N5,341.1 billion in the second quarter 2013, an increase of N242.3 billion or 4.8 per cent from N5,098.9 billion recorded in the previous quarter. Furthermore, NBS said the increase in exports and decrease in imports resulted in a favourable trade balance of N2,144.7 billion in the second quarter, an increase of1 N339.3 billion or 18.8 per cent from levels recorded in the first quarter of 2013. Further analysis indicated that the value of the nation’s total merchandise trade decreased by N1,742.8 billion or 24.6 per cent, while trade balance also declined by 49.7 per cent. Just last week I realized the matches we use in Nigeria are imported from India ![]() I am sure oga Jona himself wears Italian shoe. ![]() The only thing we produce is cassave bread, which most of its ingredients are also imported except for the cassava itself. |
