Looking good. |
Avocado farmers, who have poor access to markets, can extract cooking oil from ripe fruits for sale to save on rotting using a cheap manual pressing machine from Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation, KALRO. The machine extracts pure cooking oil from ripe avocados, which can be packaged and sold upon approval from regulatory authorities like Kenya Bureau of Standards. The Oil Press Manual Extractor does not require electric or fuel energy other than that of the farmer ‘crashing’ the ripe part of the avocado through the funnel-like chamber. Damaris Kagendo, a KALRO officer in Kitale, said besides helping the farmers in boosting earnings, the extractor could shield them against rotting losses when there is no ready market for the produce. A farmer has to manually remove the skin and the seed of the fruit to remain with the green or yellowish pulp. “Half a litre of the oil fetches about Sh90 (N400). Although the determination of the shelf-life has to be done after laboratory tests, the oil does not require any preservative to prevent it from going bad. And its life is longer than a ripe avocado that rots in a day or two,” Kagendo said. The machine separates the oil from pulp and the residue remains in the pressing chamber while oil exits through a downward facing outlet for filtering. The filtering chamber is separate. But a special sterilised white clothing can also be used to remove impurities from the oil for packaging. At least 10kg of ripe avocado pulp can give four to seven litres of the oil, depends on the quality of the fruits used. Besides being used for cooking and as butter, the oil is also a good skin ointment product. KALRO sells the machine at Sh40,000 (about N180,000). ---------------------------------------------------------------- The quantity of Avocado that waste away outstrips what we get to consume. I believe we have local fabricators who can replicate such.

The difference is clear! |
They dare not because that will be suicide mission because those ones there are looking for who to kill and properties to loot and burn. |
Is it not the same girl they lied she "willingly" converted to Islam? They are free to enforce whatever they believe in on their daughters but not on girls whose foundation and aspirations do not align with theirs. |
"It was gathered that the duo went on an operation where they were rewarded with N20, 000. According to a family source, the deceased was of the opinion that they should make returns to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, while the other objected."....... ![]() |
That Trump get mouth abeg! ![]() |
Some companies are laughing at this! ![]() Legislation can not change this because there are fundamental issues that needs to be addressed...Our Educational system needs to be addressed because l see no reason why our Universities and Polytechnics admits only once in a year while in Kenya it is thrice (January, April/May, September) and one can get a degree under 3 years. I know a Nigerian who got admitted for a Bachelor of Counselling Psychology in January 2015 and will be graduating August 2017! After which he would apply for a doctorate program in the U.S. |
Nice one. |
Sighs.. |
hahn:I engage by the side what yields way more than, l sell for $3.20 what the production cost in Lagos in addition to the shipping cost totals N300 thus the reason l don't get spiked up by the 30%. Even if am in Nigeria and l invest N100,000 in an agro venture am certain of earning not less than N500K after 4 months. Knowledge helps one navigate better! |
CeeTeeOoo:Yes l recollect the role the banks played but even now they still are key in the process as there is the requirement for BVN. Truth be told, Nigeria do not have a robust database that has our details as Kenya does. If you borrow money from Mpesa with intention of not repaying and port to Airtelmoney with the intention to start afresh, Airtelmoney has already been flagged about your debt! That Mpesa debt will block one's chance of getting a bank loan because he has been blacklisted by the Credit Reference Bureau even if that Mpesa loan is $1 as al the banks check with the bureau as part of its appraising a customer for a loan. |
Na turn by turn. |
I am just indifferent to MMM. This may trigger panic withdrawal. |
She stood by him from the beginning. |
eezeribe:Even some of his daughters are older than her, I can't just relate to that! |
hahn:The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is all l know! |
la1:It is still way below Mpesa and Airtelmoney level as my Mpesa and Airtelmoney are not linked to any bank account and l used them to receive international transfers and use the debit cards inked to them to shop on the internet but l hope the coming years will see us leap. |
Better late than never! |

Fake news! |
It means he acted Living in bondage in his early 20's! |
snazzy5050:You can achieve the same even if you have no access to land by using old sacks filled with soil mixed with manure and plant good okro seeds. It is no rocket science. |
My condolence to their families. |
obailala:The CBN policy is encouraging exporters to receive their payments through "other routes" as the black market rate is the true value of the Naira. l personally make sure the Forex l get from export proceeds ends up at the black market because l can't sweat it out to earn Forex only to give it to banks and their goons to round-trip with it! |
“The story was different before I came here, at least so I was told. Our predecessors enjoyed their stay at the National Assembly, but our own case is different....Some of the lawmakers said if things continued like this up to 2019, they might not seek re-election “because the business of legislature appears to be unprofitable.”.....Legislathieves! ![]() |
