Heromaniaa:No but your neighbouring village Umuezegwu though in ihitte but orieagu is the market we buy and sell at. |

Over reliance on one commodity and the mismanagement of the proceeds! |
Where should we come for the rice and stew? ![]() |
BoluwGoldenFarm:Which one be l don come again? ![]() The Kenyan exporters under their The Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK have already fine tuned their own logistic from the farms to export destinations to ensure standards stipulated by the foreign buyers are met as any mess up attracts sanctions. One of the exporters was even advertising asking for Kenyans who grow our local "ata rodo" to get in touch with them so they can visit the farm and buy out whatever quantity is available as they intend exporting it but Kenyans are not into "ata rodo". You can visit the association website http://fpeak.org/index.php/local-fruit-and-vegetable-exporters/ that list their members contacts and see if any will want to have a linkage for any of our local produce. |
APC should prove they are better by implementing the budget. |
3 more years to go for Nigerians to reach an informed judgement in deciding between PDP and APC, which is the lesser evil! |
That is the spirit......it does not require an arm and a leg! |
The joy of harvesting from one's garden. |
An acre is so much when it is engaged with grounded knowledge. I have come across a lot of small holder farmers who are generating good income from one acre. I did visit a one acre farm where cattle fattening is their forte, they buy malnourished cows at a cheap price and within 3 months those cows have been transformed into "ajebutter" looking cows and fetching the owners 3-4 times of the cost of purchase. Another farm visit, is an acre which is 100% organic and where there is at one corner a greenhouse measuring 50ft by 90ft and in it are strawberries grown aquaponically, the catfish and tilapia in the ponds within the greenhouse looking so healthy, the rest of the space outside the greenhouse is covered with broccoli and cauliflower which is being sold to a vegetable oexporting company that is about 15mins drive away from the farm. Am told the farm sells the broccoli at $0.80 a kilo to the exporting company, who package and exports to Europe. The strawberries are exclusively sold to some beach resorts here in Kenya, where oyinbos are "chopping" the money enjoying Africa more than Africans! ![]() |
stevolinkon40:I hope you already gotten your E-visa as against relying on visa on arrival. When are you scheduled to depart? |
Educative. |
Happy for the safe delivery. |
Hmm... |
agitator:Who is fixated on oil? You think am one of the regular minds who thinks oil is everything? If l can make N250,000 monthly from half plot of land doing vertical bag farming, why should l be bothered with oil? Take your swipe at the lazy governors not me, take a trip to the Agric section and you will realise that you are directing your anger at the wrong person! |
Innocent people should not be made to suffer the guilt of a few. |
EVILFOREST:Certainty because l doubt if security check will be run on every applicant. |
This is sad. |
Nice write up. |
overhypedsteve:. That is why l pity those who are blowing up the pipelines, further polluting their own environment thereby limiting agricultural ventures thriving in that region. The proceeds from Agriculture tends to impact more on an individual as against that of oil. I prefer to be from a non-oil producing community, l engage the land and bring forth bountiful harvest, things are within my control, not where only some criminal elements are the only ones benefiting from the oil in the community while majority are starved off the benefits that should have been accrued and worst still the land can not provide an alternative means of sustenance! |
Life goes on. |
toppiyano:I am just imagining what your farm looks like! |
lanre2009:She is rolling in money from her exports at $23 per kilo. Had my first taste of the purple tea in 2014 at the Agricultural Show Kenya held annually in Nairobi. I still have my preference for Chai masala which is a blend of Kenyan black tea, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper(what the igbos call uziza) cardamom and cloves. Have it mixed with milk, it is very relaxing to the body. |
fiddzy:Me, half Kenyan? If l hear! Though their drinking of tea, morning, afternoon, night has rubbed off on me! Even if l take semoina and bitterleaf soup for supper, l must drink tea after it! ![]() Glad you found those smart farm videos educative. |
Nice one! |
