Neither Jesus nor tithing is key to any prosperity. Prosperity comes only when you strategise and dedicated to your business.
No church or pastor or babalawo can give anyone prosperity.
Dangote didn't pay any tithe, yet he is the most prosperous in Nigeria. He does not have Jesus, yet he is the most prosperous in Nigeria.
Or you don't hear Jesus saying my kingdom its not of this world?
In this world, just like the rain falls on everyone's roof equally, prosperity or failure is open to everyone irrespective of who you are, all depending on you |

helinues: There is nothing like heaven or hell. Hahaha
Of all the almost infinite planets, why should the activities on earth be that special? A heavenly minded Christian is a morally derailed Christian. The reason being that, he has no reason to be morally upright order than the fear of not making heaven. What if he suddenly discover that the idea of heaven is vague and illusory? There is absolutely nothing left to keep him from being immoral. This is exactly what defines the average Nigerian. |

Do you read bible and you are confused? Are you trying to distinguish between The heavens and heaven itself where God dwells? Or were you told that there is a place called hell fire where fire burns Satan and his angels and they don't die? Look my brother Let's even assume that the cock and bull story is true that fire keeps burning people yet they don't die. You will agree with me that this can only be obtainable in the spirit not in this real life where we use our senses. When people die, do they die and go with their senses which includes their physical nervous systems that will help them to feel the heat of fire torments ? You must realize that when the bible talks about hell fire or the lake of fire in the book of revelation, it was simply referring to the second death and nothing more. Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof THOU SHALT SURELY DIE Similarly, the day we believe in Christ WE SHALL SURELY LIVE In the nutshell, the concept of Heaven is simply symbolism The concept of hell fire is simply symbolism. Ie HEAVEN AND HELL FIRE ONLY EXIST IN OUR MINDS They all portray the state of your mind, whether you believe in Christ or not. If you believe in Christ you are in heaven. If you don't believe in Christ you are in hell fire and already a dead man walking. The tree of knowledge and good also is symbolism, there is something it means Serpent or snake talking to Eve(human) is symbolism, find out what that explains. The parable of the fig tree or mustard seed is symbolism. Jesus Christ had interpreted some of his parables. The woman clothed with the sun, and the moon in Revelation 21 is symbolism. The bible is full of symbolism, I can go on and on. Please don't be deceived! |

fuckJones: If in heaven we will be happy forever, why didn't God create us directly in heaven?
In Psalms 115:16 says “As for the heavens, they belong to God, but the earth he has given to the sons of man.” So God created us to live on the earth. In Psalms 37:10–1+29 says “the wicked will be gone but the righteous will live on the earth forever in an abundance of peace.” That was God’s original purpose, for man to live forever in the garden of eden. God’s purpose hasn’t changed. That’s why he gave his son to die for us. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son for those who believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Everlasting life right here on earth. In Ecclesiastes 1:4 says “A generation is going, and a generation is coming, but the earth remains forever.”
What is the hype of heaven?
When thinking of what heaven is like may conjure some thoughts about clouds, harps, streets of gold, a nice house. All while worshiping one supreme being.
If I were completely honest, I too have thought of things I’d rather do than spend an eternity in Heaven. What about traveling around the globe visiting destination spots and the wonders of this world? This sound like an option that I personally would prefer.
After all, humanity was created to rule over this earth and everything in it.
The Earth | To harvest its contents, to rule and subdue it. the land the sky the sea every creature that flies in the air swims in the sea walks/crawls/creeps on the earth Everything that has breath Every plant that grows So why Heaven? Why is the end-game to take humanity out of Earth and place humanity in God’s space?
why do you want to go to heaven? There are no heaven anywhere! God is here on earth with us |
Christianity Etc › Re: Tithing, A Doctrinal Belief Or A Commandment? by paxonel(m): 7:02am On Jun 29, 2025 |
Trymeee: Morning Christianlanders, this might be long.
I am a Christian and I attend apostolic Faith church. Much emphasis is not laid on tithe and offering in my church and as a fact, we don't pass baskets around for it. Just a box at the back where you can drop what you want without anyone seeing or noticing you. Most church projects, we call meetings of saints and after the project is discussed, God always sort it for us himself.
2 weeks ago, a friend invited me to redeem, I didn't want to go as the Apostolic Faith doctrine is fully embedded in me..... Note we don't do any preaching except salvation so I know all this prosperity teaching will seem not coherent to me, as in my church we belief in seeking first the kingdom of God and every other things been added. and this always work. And also, have helped us against mental slavery of new generational men of God.
Now I got to redeem and their Sunday school topic was tithing or so.... It was discussed with different questions about how to pay etc. Then the pastor shared a testimony of how Pastor Adeboye returned the tithe of a man who asked for accountability. This didn't seat well with me as a I believe tithing isn't even in the new commandment. I raised my hands and tried telling pastor the etymology of tithing.
TITHING IS A MOSAIC LAW. because BEFORE JESUS CAME IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, ONLY PRIEST FAMILY HAD THE CHANCE OF COMMUNION WITH GOD. as a fact only the chief priests can enter into the holiest of Holies and is leg have to be chained to know if he's still breathing. This requires all their time and life So for the priestly family to also have food Moses told the isrealites to always bring 10 percent of their proceeds to the temple. I told him Jesus came and is death shook up the veil and tore it which gives us direct access to God, alas we don't need priest anymore. I also told him priest this days now work so what's the need for tithe. I called his attention to the fact Jesus never spoke about tithe or asked us to. As a fact tithe is not mentioned in the new testament. Just giving which isn't measured in 10percent. And Jesus didn't ask us to even give to pastor's. WHATSOEVER YOU DO TO YOUR BROTHERS YOU DO UNTO ME HE SAID.... not to your pastors. I said alot with fact Matt 25:25 and I also told him if tithing is still legit which is a mosaic law, why can't churches still embrace the other mosaic law like an eye for an eye or rituals and all.... Do we select the laws?
Pastor seem confused and had to technically seat me down. Even my friend was abit taking aback. Pastor couldn't give me fact, just emotional blackmail of how is child Fell sick when he doesn't pay tithe...... Funny enough the man said someone brought garri to church the previous week and that's what he eats at home now.... The man as a car and if not my friends and mine, not another car will be parked in the church. Most folks there are petty traders and farmer that are gullible in he name of Lord take me to my next level of riches.
Christianlanders, I'm not trying to stir up controversies, I will appreciate if anyone can tell me about tithing and what Jesus said about it. Please don't argue with emotions, state your facts. You did well to confront him! All these pastors should just go and work and stop waiting for tithes if they don't want to continue drinking garri |

Christianity Etc › Re: On The Second Coming Of Christ by paxonel(m): 4:09am On Jun 24, 2025 |
OT2024: Many people wonder if current global events—wars, natural disasters, moral decline, and political unrest—point to the nearness of Jesus’ second coming. The Bible, especially in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, outlines signs that will precede His return, such as wars, famines, earthquakes, increased lawlessness, persecution of believers, and the gospel being preached to all nations. These are described as “birth pains,” meaning they signal that the end is drawing near but do not pinpoint an exact time.
Jesus clearly states in Matthew 24:36 that no one knows the day or hour of His return—not even the angels or the Son, but only the Father. Therefore, Christians are called to stay spiritually alert and prepared, rather than trying to predict dates or specific timelines.
While many current events resemble biblical signs, similar occurrences have happened throughout history—during the Roman Empire, the Black Death, and the World Wars—leading believers in every era to wonder if the end was near. This pattern shows that the signs are ongoing reminders of Christ’s promised return, not necessarily indications of immediate fulfillment.
From a biblical perspective, we are always to live as though Jesus could return at any moment. The Bible emphasizes readiness, holy living, and encouraging one another with the hope of His coming, rather than focusing on trying to determine how close we are.
In summary, while current world events align with some biblical signs of the end times, Scripture urges believers to focus on faithfulness and watchfulness. The second coming could be soon, but the exact timing remains unknown—our priority is to live prepared and continue spreading the gospel. You people are terribly misunderstanding the bible. The bible did not tell us anywhere that those signs of Jesus coming written in the bible signifies anything in our current day or any time in the future! Infact, there is absolutely nothing written in the bible that has any significance to our current day or future except for the moral lessons and faith we can get from it. Our current day or future was never mentioned anywhere in the bible. If you take a critical read to your understanding, the signs of Jesus coming refers to either : 1.The signs of Jesus coming to die and resurrect which has already happened 2. Or the day of our death. Ie Jesus coming to judge us when we die And we all know that people die everyday, so in the real sense there is no special day of Jesus coming. |

OLAADEGBU: The moral of the story is to hear from God and be convinced, convicted and converted. The marriage committee is a means to an end and not an end to a means. The marriage committee might advice an intending couple not to get married if they are both AS but if the couple are convinced of the will of God in marriage and therefore go ahead to get married and end up procreating healthy children would you blame the church for not joining them in holy matrimony? The marriage committee is only serves as a guide for intending couples believers should be sure of their convictions. But from the pictures the op posted, non of them look like a carrier of SS, so sickle anemia or anything of such couldn't possibly be the reason why their marriage was denied. Obviously, their marriage was denied perhaps because of worldliness of dressing or because one of them was never a member of deeper life |

Christianity Etc › Re: Can You Be A True Christian Without Going To Church? by paxonel(m): 1:07am On Jun 13, 2025 |
IykeSent: Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, just like standing in a garage doesn’t make you a car. We’ve all heard this. But is it biblical?
Many today say: I have a personal relationship with God. I don’t need church. But can Christianity truly survive in isolation?
Christianity was never meant to be a solo journey.
Yes, church hurt is real. Yes, there are fake pastors. Yes, some churches misuse money or power. But that doesn’t cancel God’s design for believers to gather, grow, and serve together.
The early believers in Acts 2 didn’t just believe privately they met daily. They prayed together, shared meals, gave generously, and worshipped as one body.
Isolation was never the model.
Hebrews 10:25 is clear:
“Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…”
The Bible commands community. It’s not optional.
Truth is: if Jesus is your Lord, His people are your family. And while the church isn’t perfect it’s still His bride. You can't love the Head (Jesus) and hate the Body (the Church).
Can you be a Christian without going to church?
Maybe. But can you grow, serve, mature, be accountable, and live out your faith fully without it?
Almost impossible.
Christianity without community becomes weak, confused, and self-centered.
We need each other for encouragement, correction, and purpose.
So before you give up on church completely… Ask God to lead you to a Bible-believing, Spirit-led community. Don’t run away plug in, grow, and serve.
Your faith depends on it. 🙏🏽 May The Grace of God continue to be with us All Early disciples gathered and so what, are we early men? Can't you see that times have change, so we should adapt with the changes? And come to think of it, can one live his life in isolation? The answer is no! Certainly, you must interact with people wherever you go, and that is life. Christianity is your life, it is not gathering! Scriptures says let your life so shine before men, it didn't say let your life so shine in gathering or eye servicing. However, if you still want to gather, no wahalla, it is allowed. But as much as it is allowed to gather, it is also allowed not to gather, it's a free world. So let those who are gathering not see themselves better than those who are not gathering. Because at end, it is the same life we are living. No one gives anyone award for gathering |
