For those of you ranting about the presence of only 5 defenders, there is nothing to fear. Nwabuoku, one of the players listed as a midfielder, can also deputize in defense if the need arises. Although she is a midfielder, she played admirably well in central defense at the last WAFU tournament. |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 9:52pm On May 24, 2019 |
olapluto: I think we'll be just fine. Nwabuoku isnt going to play as a midfielder, she will play as a defender as part of the back 3. Ok |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 9:39pm On May 24, 2019 |
I think taking only 5 defenders is risky! Dennerby should have named an additional defender as adequate cover in case of a serious injury. |

These latest abortion laws are completely retrogressive and are a blatant attempt to get the US Supreme Court tot try to overturn Roe v. Wade. But little do the progenitors of such laws know that, despite the current conservative majority in the Court, the likes of Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Gorsuch would vote to keep the current precedent in place. |

One glaring advantage our team has over the rest is the fitness level of the players. While our opponents suffer intermittent cramps, our ladies stay strong, which suggests that the new fitness trainers are doing a good job. |

I think 1 keeper, and 3 attackers would be cut from the list. Yes, it’s entirely plausible that all the defenders and midfielders will make the final team.
So, the likes of Oshoala, Ordega, Oparanozie, Ogebe, Uchenna Kanu, and Ajibade are guaranteed places in the team. The final slot will be decided among Ihezuo, Chinaza Uchendu, Umotong, and Anam Imo. |

Okon’s stance is misguided, at best, and foolish, at worst. Yes, prostitution is technically illegal in Nigeria; but that doesn’t give policemen the authority to molest or harass the alleged prostitutes. The affected women deserve to be treated with dignity. |

My prediction for the final 23 are:
GK: Nnadozie, Oluehi, Jonathan
DF: Chukwunonye, Ebi, Michael, Ebere, Okeke, Ohale
MF: All midfielders except Chukwudi.
FW: All forwards except Alice Ogebe |

naijaseeker: I think the coach is doing great for a couple of reasons. He is developing a team that can take over from the Super Falcons. I do not mean a Falconets because we always had that but really picking young talents. Secondly this team is actually good enough to play at the world cup. They are hungrier, they need to prove themselves or reassert themselves. Nwabuku, Esther Sunday and Igbinovia have all maintained steady shirts at the higher level even before Oshoala and Ordega. Talents are discovered as the old ones fade unfortunately, most Nigerian coaches are scared to try anything new, you cannot blame them, the NFF are not so respectful to them. Believe me, Oshoala entered the senior team not because she was good but because of her emphatic delivery at 2014. Uchenna Kalu has always played for under 17 and under 20, why haven't they given her a tryout for the senior team? Confidence.
This team play more like a team and I understand the coach. Individually the main team probably (probably) has more talent and experience, but team against team in cohesion, this team will beat them. This team would have played better against Cameroon and would have beaten the SA regulation time. Yes, I was impressed by their general coordination and movement today. The right-back put in some decent crosses to the forwards as well. However, I still don’t think the “main” would lose to this team. At best, both teams would play out a draw. For the World Cup, I only potential starters in the first 11 would be Uchenna Kanu and Nwabuoku. Igbinovia would always be amongst the substitutes. In fact, Uchenna has already secured a seat on the plane to France. Nwabuoku has bags of experience. |

If Arsenal win the Europa League, they automatically qualify for the UCL. Now, considering that the UEL final would be Cech’s last football match, there could be an “agreement” between both clubs for Arsenal to win the match.
I know this is a conspiracy theory, but stranger things have happened in football. |
