theoldpretender: The problem is, the Supreme Court requires them to register anyone who wants to set up a party, thanks to a suit instituted by Gani Fawehimnni several years ago, after INEC refused to register his party the NCP.
And the problem also is that there are many people who don't feel at home in either the PDP or APC....
Getting the National Assembly to pass a bill on the matter is going to be hectic. I forsee lawsuits on the constitutionality of the NA regulating the number of parties by law. Yeah. The only permanent solution to the issue of registering 100 parties, is a constitutional amendment. The constitutional amendment should specify that parties who fail to win, at least, one seat in the House of Representatives or one Governorship seat, should be de-registered. Also, in order to cut out frivolous associations from applying to become parties, the amendment should further require INEC to set a registration fee for intending parties. Then, INEC could set, say, a registration fee of N500 million. I’m telling you, these measures would ensure that the number of parties wouldn’t be more than 10 or 20. |

The party leaders were trying to test his acceptability among average Nigerians because they are the one that matters. You seriously think APC will field him as their candidate in 2023 |

Ibime: How can you expect Igbo man to turn out in force for Fulani man.
At the best of times, the Igbo man is self reliant without much care about governance. To turnout for Fulani man is asking too much. That is the Achilles heel of Igbos: the non-challant attitude towards governance and politics. Without effective participation in the political process, your voice won’t be heard. However, I perfectly understand the apathy of Igbos towards politics. After all, for over 45 years, the SE has been marginalized, in terms of existence of decent public infrastructure (except the “international” Enugu airport). So, many may have given up, completely, on the government doing anything tangible for the zone. |

Ibime: Ebonyi and Enugu coming up. Should be interesting.
INEC on another 40mins break. These guys want kill pesin. Henceforth they should announce APC and PDP only and paste the rest on their website. Thank you for simply stating a common-sense solution. INEC should announce the votes for 10 parties, at most. This insistence on announcing the scores of all 73 presidential candidates is ridiculous |

larride: How Atiku wan take win? Voters turn out in the SE/SS is very low. Imagine Abia having a 20% turn out when Borno had almost 87% turn out.
The difference in Ebonyi is like 120k or so, the difference in Enugu is like 280k, Yobe n Kwara result don wipe those 3 off already.
Borno will take care of any high margin from Anambra + Imo. Which means APC still have Kebbi, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kastina, Sokoto.
This election is done n dusted jare bros. Two factors depressed turnout in the SS and SE - late arrival of materials, and the rescheduling of elections in many polling units. Both can easily dissuade a voter from returning to the PU. But I also put some blame on the residents of the SE. instead of still turning out enmasse to vote, they’d prefer to play soccer on the deserted roads, and drink beer at the beer-parlors |

People jubilating about Saraki’s loss, should hold off on popping champagne. Because if Atiku wins, I see Saraki being made either a minister, or the SGF. It’s more likely that he would choose the latter, due to highly influential nature. |

texazzpete: Actually, PDP won Nasarawa with approx 37000 vote margin in 2015. To move from a winning position to a losing position is not usually called 'decent'. But in the overall context of the election, Atiku would be happy to garner 25% or more of the votes in any state he loses. |

CAF has reportedly decided to use the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations set to be held in Egypt in June. VAR was first introduced at an international level in 2017 during the FIFA Confederation Cup in June before it was used again at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in October. The Afcon finals, meanwhile, will start from 21 June and runs until the 19th of July 2019. A total of 24 teams will take part in the competition for the first time in history. https://www.soccer24.co.zw/2019/02/16/caf-use-var-2019-afcon-report/ |

Buhari cannot Osinbajo because the VP is an elected official. The best Buhari could do, in that scenario, would be to lobby members of the NASS to impeach Osinbajo. |
