The proposed legislative immunity will only cover acts (or words spoken) that were done in the legislators' official capacity i.e. speaking on the floor of the senate and/or House of Reps, or other acts that may be performed during an official legislative function. The immunity won't cover any member of the NASS who commits murder, fraud, electoral malpractices, defamation (when he/she is not working in the respective chambers of both houses) etc. |
BendDownSelect:Lol. It will also benefit the likes of Atiku, Donald Duke or Peter Obi |
stanech:It's a big set back for transgender rights. |
baralatie:It is possible |
yelinco1:Even if Osinbajo vetoes the bill, the NASS would still override the veto. So, for all practical purposes, once the amendment is approved by at least 24 state legislatures, just know that it will be one law one way or another. |

Hell no Except I'm paid $2 million, then I will reconsider my stance. |
If I were you, I wouldn't help his kids. They go to their other relatives for help, after all, you are not their father. |
Even if Giuliani initially got the job as Attorney-General, Giuliani would still have recused himself from any Russia-linked investigation. The former NY mayor said Jeff Sessions made the right decision to recuse himself, some months ago. Who is Trump going to replace Sessions with? |
FortuneTeller:Lol. No girlfriend yet, let alone a fiancée. My next window for entering a serious relationship would be my 2nd or last year in school. Hopefully, I'll meet some African lady here. If I were to move to D.C., I'd have to wait for 4 years after being admitted to the bar here, in order to be eligible |
FortuneTeller:I don't watch the show cos I don't even have HBO/Netflix. But I hear it's so interesting. I don't mind a 45-min trip to the beach if I can get cheaper housing . Na money be the koko. Work is good, although by next month I'll definitely not be working due to L-school commitments. |
Following FIFA's decision to expand future world cups (from 2026) to 48 teams, and granting Africa 9 guaranteed slots, CAF could expand the qualifying tournament in such a way that the big and 'mid level' teams in Africa can maximize their match-day revenues from home games. CAF could propose 3 groups of six teams. The top 3 in each group automatically qualify to the WC, and the best 4th-placed team goes into the intercontinental playoffs. This system will guarantee the big teams, such as Nigeria, play 10 matches in total, including five home games. There is precedent for this because the qualification competition for the 2006 World Cup featured a final phase of 5 groups of 6 teams. |
I support diaspora voting only for presidential elections. |
The leaders of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) are in the country to ensure that about 17 million of their members spread across the world participate in elections to choose those to be at the helm of the country. At a joint press conference ahead of the July 25th Diaspora Day celebration, NIDO's Chairman, Mr. Kenneth Gbandi, disclosed that the organisation was sending a delegation to meet with the leadership of the National Assembly to achieve the goal. He expressed optimism that the quest for voting rights for Nigerians in diaspora would be actualised since there is a budgetary provision for the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to capture the data and issue identity cards to them abroad. The Chairman of NIDO's Board of Trustees, Mr. Samuel Adewusi, who spoke in the same vein, stressed the need to pass the Electoral Act and the 1999 Constitution as amended to pave the way for diaspora voting. He wondered why Nigeria is yet to take a cue from less endowed countries like South Africa and Niger on the issue of diaspora voting and representation in the National Assembly. Reiterating NIDO's commitment to providing brain power and technology transfer to the country, he said the fact that Nigerians in the diaspora remitted $24 billion to the Nigeria economy in 2015 spoke volume of the organisation's contribution to the development of the country. "We are not boasting here. If you look at the $24 billion, it is more than what Nigeria gets in foreign direct investment within five years from the West, our so-called friends. But for those remittances, I don't think Nigeria would be in this position now to talk. "Those remittances alone are enough to show what Nigerians abroad are doing for this country, not to talk of what we have to give in areas of technology transfer, knowledge transfer like the ICT, and the trauma centre being built by one of us," he said. http://allafrica.com/stories/201707240041.html |

FortuneTeller:I'll qualify for a partial scholarship for the first year, but I could get a bigger scholarship after the first year if I'm amongst the top 30 of my class. Just praying to get the admission letter. I don't mind living in the village if I can get a decent 4-bedroom house for $150,000, and pay $1.89 for gas ![]() Alright dear, goodnight. Nice chatting with you |
FortuneTeller:Yep. I'll get some fin aid, but I won't work at all for my first year. The admissions advisor told me it's not advisable for first year students to do any type of work due to the volume of school work to be done. So, it's most likely that I'll be doing part time work in my 2nd year. BTW, where do you live? I may just move there to take advantage of the cheaper housing ![]() |
FortuneTeller:These American doctors are just threading on the side of caution; they don't want you to sue them for medical negligence (malpractice) ![]() You know we are a lawsuit-happy nation, lol. Your feet must have been swollen by now ![]() Anyway, I like San Diego: it's got the perfect weather and the beaches are serene. The only downside is the cost of living. If you find a one-bedroom apartment for like $1,000, just know that you are lucky. A professor friend of mine, here, said she pays $1500 for her one bedroom apartment. I was shocked. But I told her there are some in my city that go for no more than $1,200 in my area. That is Pacific Beach in San Diego. We hung out there last month

FortuneTeller:Haha I wouldn't want to cause problems ![]() How are you coping with the pregnancy? |
FortuneTeller:Lol It's just her unique way of worshipping God ![]() |
FortuneTeller:Yeah I'll send u a pm |
FortuneTeller:Enjoy your meal |
Thankfully, CAF rejected the idea of hosting the AFCON outside Africa. It was a ridiculous suggestion in the first place. If Ghanaians feel that they can't host it alone, they could partner with Nigeria in co-hosting the event. Simple. |
I thought the minimum age the NASS is seeking was 30 years for president and governors, and senators; 25 years for House of Assembly members and members of the House of Reps? Anyway, I think 30 years is too young for someone to be a president. Instead, the minimum age for the presidency should be 36-37. People with, at least, 13 years life experience after completing higher education, should be the ones to contest the highest office in the land. |
Chelseafan1:Hmm You risk a ban for putting up the pic of another Nairalander without their consent. |
$12.9bn warship while Americans pay the highest medical bills in the Western world ![]() The MIC sure has Washington by the balls. |
OkoYibo:You gerrit ![]() |
OkoYibo:Lol You think she go accept N40k to fvck a guy? 'Socialites' at her level accept nothing less than N250k. In fact, na only millionaires fit afford her services. |
Yes. Scaramucci's appointment signals the President's intention to go all out to battle Mueller and his team fire for fire. Meanwhile, SHS is only the third female White House press secretary, following Dee Dee Myers (Clinton's administration) and Dana Perino (Bush 43's administration). |
