Sources say FIFA has reportedly narrowed down the choice venue for the 2026 WC to the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas, and MetLife stadium in the NY/New Jersey area..
I think the only edge that Arlington would hold over NY is the fact that the former would be more amenable to FIFA’s request to take whatever profits they reap from the tournament tax-free, or pay the barest minimum in taxes |

DissTroy: The PDPGuy you quoted gave you the wrong information.
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium was selected by CAF as its preferred stadium in Nigeria for its games. You don't have to believe me - google it.
And there are 3 stadia:
- Akwa Ibom International Stadium (AKA Nest of Champions or Godswill Akpabio International Stadium) - Uyo Township Stadium - Eket Township Stadium
The billions didn't go to waste. Uyo and its environs are regarded as a tourist city/destination. Yea, it was my mistake. If there is one city, in Nigeria, that I want to visitor, it would be Uyo. Once their permanent airport terminal is complete, that city would become one of the true aviation hubs in Naija or even West Africa. |

Proposed venues for the Nigeria/Benin joint bid to host the 2027 AFCON.
Nigeria:
MKO Abiola Stadium - Abuja Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium - Port Harcourt Teslim Balogun stadium - Lagos Ahmadu Bello Stadium - Kaduna Stephen Keshi Stadium - Asaba Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium - Benin Sani Abacha stadium - Kano
Benin 🇧🇯 Republic: Stade Mathieu Kerekou - Cotonou Stade Charles de Gaulle - Porto Novo
CAF will announce the winning bid later today..
Nonetheless, I would have swapped either Asaba or PH with Uyo, which arguably has the best stadia in the SS |
Travel › Air Peace Demands 'Heathrow Or Nothing' by PDPGuy(op): 2:55am On Sep 25, 2023 |
Air Peace is urging UK authorities to allow slots access at London Heathrow (LHR), according to a report by Nigerian newspaper The Whistler. The news comes as the airline has recently obtained the UK Third Country Operator (TCO) authorization.
Following the recent approval to fly to the UK, the country's aviation authorities have proposed Air Peace to run flight operations from either London Stansted (STN) or London Gatwick (LGW). Both airports are on the UK's list of the top five busiest. However, the chief executive of the airline, Allen Onyema, rejected the offer by the UK authorities, citing the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA).
The chief executive of the airline is advocating for Air Peace to establish service to a 'primary airport,' emphasizing that UK carriers, including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, possess the capacity to operate flights from Nigeria's primary airports, including Muhammed International Airport (LOS) and Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport (ABV).
When discussing the choice to decline the offer, Onyema shared his perspective with The Whistler:
"It took seven years for them to come and do the audit. Now we have got the approval. The next thing is slots, and they are telling us to go to London Stansted or take London Gatwick. I'm not going to Stansted or Gatwick. You come to the primary airport in Nigeria, and by BASA, you enjoy the two primary airports. So, you will give me your own primary airport. It must be Heathrow or nothing."
Why are LHR slots so valuable?
The most coveted airport slots in the UK, and indeed among the most sought-after globally, are located at LHR. Heathrow stands as one of the world's busiest aviation hubs, accommodating over 60 million passengers annually.
Known for its extensive global connectivity terminals tailored for major airline alliances, securing access to LHR slots is a significant milestone that elevates an airline's presence in the industry.
In congested airports like LHR, the number of new slots available is very limited. With slot demand here vastly exceeding supply, the market has become furious. One of the most expensive deals to make media attention was the purchase in 2016 of a pair of slots by Oman Air from Air France-KLM for $75 million. Similarly, top prices were paid in 2015 by American Airlines, $60 million for a pair of slots from SAS. https://simpleflying.com/air-peace-heathrow-or-nothing/ |

InvertedHammer: / It is a psychological damage done to Nigerians by the colonial masters. That's why they'd rather die than throw away the racoon wigs they wear in a hot and humid weather like Nigeria. Education in Nigeria is primarily geared towards making people act and think British. Then the Nigerian factor of high titles come secondary. In all, most of them have to be retrained and reprogrammed to be able to function in any developed world. The worst hit are the "professionals"--so much noise with little to show.

Went searching her website when the internet newly came and I even sent her an email 2004 or so to her official email address then professing my love to her.

Deltamani: The UEFA Women’s Nations League starts one month from today ✨
We’re in for some exciting fixtures:
Scotland v. England Belgium v. Netherlands Ireland v. Northern Ireland Spain v. Sweden🍿🍿🍿
Remembering that the League of Nations will now be the pre-Olympic UEFA Women's. Until 2019 it was for the Women's World Cup (if the regulations were not changed for 2024, the places would be for Spain and Great Britain)
With this UEFA Women’s Nations League, I guess the European teams will remain active and continue to top in the World Ranking.. CAF really need to do something like make the qualification games for the WAFCON in a group stage format of like 6 , 7 or 8 teams in each Group of 5 where the top two and a best loser qualify for the WAFCON... with this the teams can get few points for the Ranking.. With regard to Olympic qualification, England were nominated by the other three British constituent countries to represent GB at the Olympics… So it’s likely that Sarina Wiegman would be the coach of a Team GB in France next year |
