ThePresenceWtf: Oh really? I didn't know that...or I must have missed it. But why isn't the men's event overseen by FIFA as well? It just makes half a sense to me.... Or could it be, because the women club teams were't "full time pros" ( At least not until some 5 years ago) FIFA saw it fit to take charge? I think the rationale may be that the women’s game (especially at club level) has significantly less air time than their male Counterparts, hence putting the tournament on FIFA’s calendar would be a way to give the women increased global visibility |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 8:20pm On Aug 07, 2023 |
ThePresenceWtf: This wouldn't be much of an issue anyway, as the Olympics is played during start of preseason and clubs aren't obligated to release their players as that competition doesn't fall under the purview of FIFA.
PS: Didn't Evelyn accept a recent call-up to the Swedish team? The women’s football event at the Olympics is actually on FIFA’s calendar, so clubs are definitely obligated to release players for the tournament |

lovewins: Lol
South Africa are along our path.
We will facing Ethiopia on October. Then we'll face the winner between Cameroon and Uganda, then we potentially face South Africa in the final round. In that case, SA should not go to the Olympics since they were at Tokyo 2020. They should not be greedy |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 7:43pm On Aug 07, 2023 |
As only 2 African teams would be present at the Olympics, I would tip Nigeria and South Africa to pick the slots (if both teams are are further kept apart in the African qualifiers)…
Also, whoever coaches the team at the Olympics (if we qualify) would have a big selection headache cos each country is limited to 18-player squads.
Even if you take out Ebi, Oparanozie, Oluehi, Balogun and Ordega, 😁 there is still the headache of trying to fit in the likes of Nicole Payne, Babajide, Ijeh, Onyenezide, into the squad without dropping others. |

carbonado: ...okay, thank you, do you know if he is also part of the set up, for just the world cup or long term. From what I’ve gathered about him, he is primarily an assistant coach with the Super Eagles. The NFF only seconded him to the Super Falcons following Lauren Gregg’s departure |

carbonado: Sad we had to go out the way we did, however, it was a delight to watch how disciplined the super falcons has become, in my opinion, if the NFF will retain Waldrum, they should retain every member of the team, incudling the man, that that NFF sent in to deputize Waldrum after they did not allow that woman to follow him to the world cup. @Deltamani..do you know the name of that man, he seems to be working some magic behind the scene to. That is Terry Eguaje (sp) |

daveP: since 2019, its obvious we have an attacking problem. But that alone is totally reliant on lack of creativity behind the strikers. Better days ahead cos people dey ground for that one. Hopefully, Onyenezide and Payne would click in the midfield in the near future |

This may be a slight consolation, but Nnadozie now has the most cleansheets of any Nigerian goalkeeper at a women’s or men’s World Cup. She has four career WC cleansheets 👏🏾 |

Kibbs: This is both coaching and player’s football IQ. While the best teams have been grounded in the fundamentals since when they started playing, we can’t say the same for most of our players.
Growing up, street football na gbas gbos budeh not tiki taka But our players have been playing in the top leagues Europe and North America for years now, so I’m not sure why their touches in the final third were average. Maybe it was a case of anxiety |
