PoliticsRe: What I Will Do If I Become Nigerian President. by Pecuman: 8:54pm On Nov 27, 2020
This is Feudal style thinking. America feeds it's Population and exports huge excesses while only less than 2% of the Population works in Agriculture. Whole substance farming still has its role in Nigeria, the goal should be to get to industrial farming.

For what I think will solve Nigeria's issues, o would need powers greater than president, something closer to Dictator.

What I would want to do is to take a detailed census and divide Nigeria into 8-10 regions

1. Hausa-Fulani region
2. Western Muslim Middle-belt region
3. Christian Middle-belt region
4. Eastern Muslim Middle-belt region
5. Yoruba region
6. Igbo region
7. Western Niger-Delta (Niger-Delta West of the Niger, Edo/Bini people side)
8. Eastern Niger-Delta (Niger-Delta East of the Niger, Ekoi peoples side)
9. Ijaw region
10. Kanuri (Because they will be partially cut off by Hausa-Fulani region)

All of these will either be one tribe or have no tribe close to majority so minimal Tribalism.

The Judiciary would also be made the strongest part of the Federal government but have limited laws that they can interfer in while the State governments has juristriction over all the over laws and is Autonomous.

But first, something like what you propose with Youth service exchanged for an Agro-Military service to tackle the worst of Nigeria's current problems be solved.

Buhari ceased everything and handed it to the North , look at the commissioner of police in the whole country , look at the appointments from NNPC to judiciary , am not even talking about the infrastructural development focused on the north, if this is not north agenda , what is it.

Now you panic cause south will take over, like I said I pity you and your people from 2023...

There was no justification for that coup.

At worst the federating units would have left the polity .

The coup as I stated was to seize power for Igbos .

Nothing more nothing less.
Nigerian Politicians Corruption no start today. I think it was Zik who was implicated in a corruption scandal in 57' that made Ambazonia decide to join Cameroon instead of Nigeria.

And that is just one example. The vacation trip that he was on when the Coup happened was also routine for Nigerian Politicans.

Uprooting those parasitical elements off Nigerians was fully justified.

The only reason I said "Maybe" instead of "Yes" to your initial question is because historically people that have come in with such official Noble justifications (like Mugabe), sometimes become despots themselves, but except for that their justification was sound.

Also, 2 of the 4 leaders of the Coup were from the former Western Region, including Chukwuma Kaduna himself.

The only "Igbo" Coup was Ironsi taking over after they failed.

The coup was only meant to consolidate power for the Igbos .

The Eastern region would have been plunged into poverty and Azikiwe's political clout severely pruned if the COR region left the eastern region.

Azikiwe was the architect of that coup and no one else.
2 of the main 4 plotters of the Coup were from Western region. The point of the coup was to remove the corrupt Politicians that were already plaguing Nigeria. If it succeeded it would have been the first Jerry Rawlings style purging of the corrupt Political elite.

But it failed and Ironsi used that chance to take power.
PoliticsRe: Aguiyi Ironsi's Speech Announcing And Defending The Dismantling Of Regional Gov by Pecuman: 11:42am On Nov 26, 2020
Fine, can we just agree that they both and the Military did it.

The fashioned the country to be more like military and that meant for central control.

It doesn't matter who did it worse, whether Ironsi or Gowon, they both did it. What matters is that going back to a federal system is the solution to many of of our woes of insecurity and lack of development.

Of course this doesn't meant just going back to the past system, it failed for a reason, instead the 6 geopolitical zones should be made their own regions or something approximate to that.

So that Easterners won't be fearing Igbo domination because Igbos will be locked into SouthEast, and the same to Yoruba and Western region and Hausa-Fulani and Northern region.

Yeah, this thing seems to be bullshit. Search International Institute for Investigative Journalism (IIIJ) and the closest you will find in IIJ but there is no website for IIIJ, no other papers of them debunking a story, the only thing that comes up with IIIJ are duplicates of the story of this thread.

So, this is probably fake news or IIIJ is an insignificant company that can't even afford a website and has never done an investigation on a news story before.

So it sounds like a shell company for someone with reasons to claim that CNN report is false (like NG) or a small insignificant company whose first work is this and potentially easy to bribe.
PoliticsRe: Lekki Shooting: CNN Carried Out A Hatchet Job On The Army – International Journa by Pecuman: 7:47am On Nov 26, 2020
Stalwert:
The report by Cable News Network (CNN) on the shooting at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos was a “poor” hatchet job targeted at the Nigerian Army, the International Institute for Investigative Journalism (IIIJ) has said.

In an electronic statement signed by special rapporteur, Francois Deburoiche, on Wednesday, the IIIJ said it came to this conclusion following a careful investigation on the events that led to the escalation of violence at the toll gate.

After forensic analysis of CNN’s report, the International Institute for Investigative Journalism noted that there were some missing details in the American television channel’s piece.

According to the institute, the report was carried out in poor taste, lacking professionalism and objectivity.

It added that the claim of use of live bullets and testimonies of victims were all tales.

The institute, however, advised the television channel to retract and admit error in the documentary.

Read the full statement below:

[b]The International Institute for Investigative Journalism is issuing this press statement with the best of intents after a careful investigation on the events that led to the escalation of violence at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos Nigeria during the EndSARS protest.

A team of investigative journalists with extensive experience in conflict situation interrogated the various claims made by the American Cable News Network in its report on the Lekki Shootings and came up with a comprehensive analysis that found gaps that were not filled in the CNN documentation of the events at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos Nigeria.

Our statement:

The CNN documentary on the EndSARS protest in Nigeria was released to the general public with lots of inaccuracies. These accuracies were detected after an extensive forensic investigation by the International Institute for Investigative Journalism.

It is thus our opinion that the report was carried out in the poor taste, lacking in professionalism and objectivity. This is a great betrayal on journalism by the CNN, which indeed violated the known tenets of journalism.

The videos and images used in the CNN report were not subjected to adequate scrutiny. Consequently, it lacked credibility for use by an organization of repute such as the CNN. This fact was also buttressed by the fact that the CNN report was very hasty in its conclusion by indicting the Nigerian Army of culpability in the events at the Lekki Tollgate.

Our position remains that the CNN erred substantially in its report that was highly misleading to the general public in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The documentary also failed woefully to highlight the events that led to the reign of violence in parts of Lagos state but instead rehashed the issues under different subheadings with minimal evidence that indicts the Nigerian Army of wrongdoing at the Lekki Tollgate.

The International Institute for Investigative Journalism concludes that the CNN documentary was prejudiced in its analysis as well as presentation which fall nothing short of a poor hatchet job with the undeniable intent to discredit the Nigerian Army operation at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos Nigeria.

The analysis by CNN in the documentary was hasty in its categorization with regards to the use of live bullets by soldiers at the Lekki Tollgate. The report attempted to portray the use of excessive force by soldiers, while the accompanying videos and images did not depict such.

The credibility of those interviewed in the documentary was also suspect with the choice of words and the facial and body expressions of the victims as well as their relatives. Thus much was revealed by forensic analysis as the emotions portrayed didn’t match their words.

Conclusion:

The International Institute for Investigative Journalism is of the considered opinion that the CNN carried out a hatchet job that is targeted at the Nigerian Army institution. We as a result of this classify the CNN documentary as highly misleading and with the capacity to cause disquiet in Nigeria.

The CNN must retract and admit error in submission in its documentary on the Lekki Tollgate shootings.

The International Institute for Investigative Journalism faults the CNN documentary in all ramifications

Let them do it let us see. They are the most corrupt civil servants in the world. We see them when we go to their ministries. If the country is corrupt its because of them, not politicians. If they stand up and say no, who is a politician to say yes but half of them are there illegally.
On the later part you are ignoring the organizational advantage that the Politicians have. The civil bureaucracy can't just stand up against the Politicians because they can't organize to do it together and anyone that does it first will be harshly punished before anyone else can join.

And alot of these Corruption is because of the bad economy and unofficial system set up by the Nigerian Government itself.
PoliticsRe: Why Did Igbos Not Resist Ironsi's Decree 34 ? by Pecuman: 3:31pm On Nov 25, 2020
AdekunleScience:
These are the reasons:
1) The Fulani who inherited the skewed system which the Ibos created share the same desire as the Ibos (the subjugation of other ethnicities).
2) The Yoruba elites who are the major factor that can reverse the system back to what was agreed upon, are at the moment not up to the task because the Fulani has the backing of the English.
3) The Yoruba masses who should be a source of support to their elites so as to put an end to this cursed system, are currently under psychological attack from massive Ibo propaganda. The Ibos PRETEND to want out of Nigeria by their incessant cry of marginalization and fraud Biafra agitation. This psychological war strategy has made it difficult for the Yoruba masses to realise that Nigeria currently favours only the Igbos (economically) and Fulani (Politically).
And I honestly don't get why all you guys scared of "Igbo domination" don't solve the problem once and for all by expelling Igboland from Nigeria. So that the same way that in the 1970s-1980s you chased out all the Ghanains, you can do the same for the Igbos and like the Ghanains never came back, the Igbos won't be able to come back.

Nigeria in no way favours the Igbos. If it did Igbos won't be periodically expelled and Northern Business men Won't be getting preferencial treatment (like why is Dangote still having access to forex, when almost everyone else isn't), Igbo states have some of the Highest pass off Marks for JAMB, why is there no Port in the former Eastern region, etc.

Any flourishing of SouthEasterners and SouthSoutherners is evidence of their own refusal to be made poor than any favouritism displayed by the Nigerian Government.
