Nuclear emissions, war, poor hygiene and many other factors cause diseases, now we can reduce all this if we change but are we ready to change?

Diseases are not from God, please and please, we have herbs, and a lot of innovations to treat them. I'm sure those medicinal plants didn't just appear, and I'm sure they were not as a result of a lab experiment.

The brain we use to think whether negative or positive things God created it. We are the most intelligent animals on earth. You see, our brain is a mystery and no scientist can make a tissue as intelligent as our brains.

You blame earthquakes on God? Really? I'm sure you're aware that scientists are planning to dig the moon. Let's not even begin to talk about the harsh chemicals that we continue to use to harm the earth.

I'm sure you want God to be the fixer, well he is not. You haven't even seen God but you hate him. You hear he made all the beautiful things on the earth and put you there to enjoy it. Now you blame him for the genocide, suicide, murder, war, diseases and all sorts but you haven't even seen him. You don't know what he looks like, he never visited the earth but yet you want him to fix the bad things that we do to ourselves.

Isn't that selfish, what you're saying is murderers should walk free, because with the wave of a hand the person they kill will get up.

Or are you looking for justice, then you will be proposing that God kills everyone that is bad so the world can be good. Well I assure you that will be everybody because we have all been bad at some point.

Well God is not your problem, if you don't know him, haven't met him, if he hasn't wronged you then you have no reason to hate him. Hating God makes you no different from the people who kill others for no reason.

Well that's where you are wrong. You can't blame God for the deaths and suffering. He didn't cause it, we did. You can blame you and I for the greed, bitterness, anger, corruption and other vices.

What do you want God to do to stop people from being wicked, because we have won't stop. The heart of man is evil and as long as we don't change, we will will remain enemies of ourselves. Whether you and I believe in God or not, people will still be killed, not by God but by ourselves.

I think everyone loses faith everytime but I don't think you have lost faith in God. It's more like you've lost faith in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself how do you want God to believe in you?. It's like going for a job interview and concluding in your mind that you didn't get the job. How will you convince your interviewer that you have what it takes.

Many people come on nairaland talking about how much they have dedicated to God and how they have been disappointed. You live everyday, you breath the oxygen and you don't have to pay for it. You can do anything you want and nobody owns your life because God gave it to you.

You are a master of yourself. If you are free to do what you want, then you should be able to face the life's challenges. I remember when I was going through a difficult time, someone told me God doesn't give you what you can't handle. Today I look back at that situation and wonder how I got out of it. It's not like its over, every year I grow older, challenges get even tougher but you know what I'm still here. It has made me stronger.

Do you want a God that will pamper you and make you weak, or are you looking for a God who is a puppy and will always want to please you because he doesn't want to upset you.

He sees beyond what you see, if only you could look beyond that negative situation that hurts you and embrace the positive things in your life. It could be your siblings, your parents, your children or your loved one. There is a lot to gain in life than being angry with God. He has given you the earth to enjoy it, what more do you want?

I want to ask, if you have ever lost your faith, what was the last straw that broke the camel's back and made you say "I'm done following Christ"?

I'm at a point in my life that I'm tired, I've really given myself passionately and steadfastly to the word of God and his works, bit, lately, the issues of the world has overwhelmed me and it doesn't seem like hope is anywhere close.

I'm tired, having gone to church for some time, my faith has grown so weak, I'm thinking of calling it quit forever.

I acknowledge that God exists, but, I don't think he's with me anymore. I can't keep going through my issues and looking up to God and he's just there being silent.

This is a God I could have given my life for in the past. Why has he abadoned me in my trying times even though I've not been faithful as I was for close to 5 years.

I don't think God has anything to do with this. Yes he loves you and he hasn't abandoned you but you shouldn't live life expecting magic.

First, there are many employers who refuse to pay employees, they can be reported to authorities. Before you go for a job do your own homework. Find out the history of the company, its easy to know when companies don't pay their staff. They usually keep recruiting all the time because people leave. During my early days of job hunting ,when I'm going for an interview, I quickly look for someone to ask, even if it is the next office to where I'm interviewing or the security people or even the receptionist, someone will definitely hint you about the place. You can even search nairaland and ask you will hear from people who have experience with the place.

Getting a job is not about jumping at any offer you see even if it is attractive, find out. God won't come to earth to perform miracles. He will bless you when you make an effort.

If jobs are not working, try a trade, or a craft or handy work. Opportunities don't come to those who sit down and wait. It comes to those who are proactive and trying different ways to make things work.

If you fall down, you stand up again, if you keep falling, keep picking yourself up. You will realize that the strength to keep trying is not your own but God. Sometimes he teaches us things and most times we are not paying attention.

In that difficult situation, if you tell yourself you can make it, you will but if you give up on yourself, how then can you believe God is looking out for you.

Have been a follower of Christ right from when I knew the different between A and B. I became dedicated to him right from childhood, participating in church activities, alot, Right from Childhood. I pray to him, and I do everything necessary to please God, but now I need God more, he seems mute and quite, I pray to him about it, meditate and yet No positive result. Am really broke now, I worked for some company's and Hotels but when its time to pay, they cook up stories. I prayed about it, yet no results. I dont even have money to feed, yet they made me believe God is watching me with all the hardship.

Now, am confused isn't that God doesn't exist or he abandoned me, I dont get it

I would like to give you an answer. Here's how I see it.

Robots are usually programmed and it is the information they are fed with that they deliver. They don't have any intelligence of their own but instead learn from our own intelligence.

We are given free will. Free will to do anything we want on this earth. To live to eat, to recreate, to enjoy nature to build to develop.. anything. But here's the issue.

We have the will to use our freedom to do good or do bad things. I had a conversation with my mum some time ago. I said why do people think God is bad by punishing the wicked people.

I told her, if we have terrorist, ritualists, kidnappers and even rapists destroying the good things we have on earth. If we could all are to go to heaven, will we want to spend eternity with these same killers. I even made a joke that these people will go to heaven and still consider raping angels.

Witches or black magic people will think of converting angels powers. Corrupt Politicians will think about overthrowing God's government and worse destroy the heavens like they continue to do here on earth.

People on earth commit crimes and they escape the law, the victims are left suffer. If justice is not on earth and there isn't justice in heaven, doesn't it make God as Corrupt as we are.

When we do good, there should be a reward. The same goes when we do bad, there should be punishment. If the simple instruction God gave man was be good and obey my commandments, is it then bad that he punishes those who disobey.

If there is no law, there will be disorder, mutiny, injustice and a lot of terrible vices. God is not corrupt, he is straight forward but we humans are manipulative, we want to bend the rules.

We want to be bad and also still be rewarded without feeling remorse.

You know, i see robots in movies everyday and i kind of think we would have been great if we were like robots to God because we would be somewhat superior to God. Robots have no free-will nature, can out-live the owner and can process data twice faster than its owner. Even robots are well taken care of, they're not poor and they don't have to believe in anything to progress.

This one that you're saying Jehovah.. I'm suspecting you're a former Jehovah witness. Maybe that is why you have the whole idea of religion upside down.

I'm not going to say more than this keep an open mind when it comes to religion. That's why I love whites, they will try Hinduism, Islam, pagan worship, Christianity, mysticism etc before they come to tell you they've seen it all and they've chosen not to believe. I even read one of these NASA articles that explained that over 4.5 billion years ago earth did not have an atmosphere, imagine, they claimed that the earth due to volcanic components, released components that formed the gases that make up the atmosphere. They claim that there was no life on earth and that it was a very hot planet until everything started cooling off. They said that was when life began to form.


Now the foundation of the earth's philosophy is completely wrong because as usual they are based on theories or will I say speculations. They now come up with another calculative analysis of how the earth rotates and then orbits around the sun? Without proof and again i say without proof.

Science is meant to provide logical explanation on how things work but it is not the actual basis of fact. There is still so much to discover about the universe before a conclusion can be made about anything and this is a lot of work which can take hundreds of years.

Some things are so simple but we like to look for complex solutions. When its a straight line from point a to b, science will move 360 degrees from point a to get to b.[/quote]

I won't describe the earth as flat and I won't accept that the rotates. Why? Because time and time again science has always proven to contradict itself. First of all I remember reading an article, and even NASA does not have the full view of the earth, all the videos that show the earth as being spherical are just some graphical scientific analysis. According to one article I read, NASA claims they would need about four robotic space crafts to get a full view of the earth.

I also read an interview of some astronauts, none talk in detail about the earth instead they were complaining they had a lot to do and their cameras had to work at a fast shutter speed because they space lander was also on orbit. Excuses have also been given about the lack of stars in space photos. According to one of the astronauts filming was done during day and some others said some funny reason why the stars could not be captured with the camera.

All I hear is excuses and reasons. Someone gave an example that when a tiny ant is placed on a ball and the ball is spun, the ant doesn't feel the rotation and will not fall ,even though that expression is very flawed because I know very well that when there is a slight shift of the ball, the ant will immediately retreat. Astronauts then gave another excuse that from space they can't see the actual rotation of the earth because it moves like 1000 miles in twelve hours.

I see the clouds moving, then they give us reason that the clouds move with the earth's rotation. I believe the the clouds are basically affected by the humidity, temperature and seas as well as some probably earthly factors. Again, I may be wrong because you know what I don't know anything about the earth ,I just live in it.

Another reason I won't take the false calculations of scientists is because of their insistence on the idea of the big bang theory. I don't believe the earth exploded in other to expand. I don't believe the universe or space is expanding. You know why? Because all these are based on calculations, scientific analysis without any true origin of fact.

Now these same scientists or researchers are looking for UFOs, its ok. They talk about gravity, there is nothing like gravity. Gravity is a legend that started with Isaac Newton, it is not fact but just a thinking.

So im definitely sure that I don't live in a circle that spins around. I definitely don't believe the earth is flat. All I know is I'm living in the earth and so far I'm not falling its fine. It can be circle, round, tabular, a tree I don't give a hoot.
I am verh sure that these so called researchers will come up again in the next couple of years and tell us something else. Yesterday we were hearing two asteroids are on their way to the earth. Day before yesterday I was watching a video of these same crazy researchers about a giant asteroid that can obliterate our planet.

That's where you're wrong. Over 2000 years ago there was religion. The whole earth thrives on religion. When I say religion I don't mean Christianity. People worshipped the sun,moon and stars. Carved up images and all.

There has been killings since the first man. There was even a time when it was kill or be killed. You can't even compare the crimes associated with money to religion. Religion is the least of the problems. Just close your eyes and imagine a killer on his knees praying.

It doesn't change the fact that he is a killer, it is not God that is the problem. It is us. The moment we start being accountable for our actions the better the world will be. When people are caught at crime scenes, you hear them say it's the devil that pushed them but in reality who has seen the devil, who has seen God. They threaten people with the idea of religion but in truth, they themselves are lost.

When these false Christians experience little problems like failures, sicknesses or even loss, they completely lose their faith and then start hating God.

Many of them will convert to athiest in a twinkle of an eye and start questioning everything they knew. So again there are true Christians and those who are just church goers without strong belief. Even a pastor you think should be a solid Christian, many of them get into it as a business venture to make money, will you still call them Christians? Anyone not practicing what they preach or believe in is not a Christian

I don't think religion is the cause of the problems of the world o. Psychophaths are just hiding under the guise of religion. Even if there was no religion, killings will still continue. Envy, Jealousy, Pride,Greed are the evil things things that occupy man's heart.

Exactly and that was why I mentioned real Christians but people here were attacking me. If you realize that some Christians and even Muslims break out of their religion to become atheists. Many people who claim religion today don't really have that strong belief. Some are born into religion and the moment they begin to experience the harsh realities of life, they blame God.

They start questioning the existence of God since they feel he couldn't help them in their situation. However there are those who have that conviction that no matter the situation God is with them and will see them all the way.

You see when people suffer from intense depression, they shut everyone down. Most times they listen to the thoughts playing around their mind. As a Christian, you know you can't create life, you know you don't even know where you're going after death, you also battle with the fact that your God will not be happy if you take your life.

You will hear some pastors even commit suicide, you will also hear pastors in rape situations, ritual and the rest. Will you now classify them as Christians? Like I said religion is not about what you say but how your life defines you.

When they listed the top 50 spiritual countries in the world, Nigeria was not even on the list. Many people today are not practicing Christianity and their faith wavers that's why you end up see people not believing in anything.

Now you have got me completely wrong. I don't think anyone in particular is the reason why people commit suicide. Most people who commit suicide allow their problems to overwhelm them. It is a psychological problem. Now, where faith comes in is in shaping your mind and thoughts. As a Christian, you are taught to place your burdens on God, that is why you find people at the alter making their supplications. When people voice out their problems, it in turn heals them.

It doesn't make the problem go away but it takes the heavy weight off. Faith and belief that God will save them from their problem takes that feeling of loneliness, frustration and depression off their thoughts.

It's like having a shoulder to cry on. A Christian turns to God in times of Crisis.

A non believer, who deals with logic, when faced under intense psychological breakdown will turn to friends and family. Most times they don't get the positive words of affirmation they are looking for that they are not alone. This pushes them to break down and lose faith even in themselves to fight their way out of the situation.

So what I'm saying in essence is religion , belief whether Christian, Muslim or pagan, is a form of therapy especially when people are going through problems that can make them suicidal.

Very funny to say I'm denying Christians. Well I'm not surprised about your ignorance. Obviously you have been so wrapped up in your hatred that you forget to seperate the wickedness of man from your hatred of God.

We have cultists in Nigeria that guise as Christians to deceive people. I'm sure you would not accept it since you have clouded your mind to compare the nature of God to man. We are responsible for our actions and we should be ready to bear the consequences.

A Christian is not defined by going to church or reading the bible, even atheists read bible and have been to church. It is about your life. It is how your belief shapes your life. When you go out people should be able to acknowledge that you are not only a reasonable person but also good in every sense.

Contrary to what you athiest believe, if you meet true Christians which are very rare I must add, you will have a change of opinion. We have a lot of people who claim to be Christians but are more wicked than unbelievers.

A true Christian, embraces love, peaceful coexistence, charity, patience and other good attributes. They are good not just because of religion but because they have adopted good in their lifestyle. Christianity is not defined by the agressive noise makers you encounter who claim that if you don't believe God you will die and they will live. Then move on to be agressively resentful about others. It is about showing people why it pays to be good and live a righteous life.

When I says Christians I mean people who live by the word of God and set examples with their lives. Even Jesus says not everyone who calls me Lord, will enter the kingdom of God. This shows that there are pretenders.

And again I say true Christians will never commit suicide. Only unbelievers do. A Christian has cultured their mind to the existence of heaven and hell. They know that killing themselves will lead them to a fate worse than their earthly situation. A fake Christian and unbelievers will be consumed by the fear of their problem and think ending their life will put a stop to it.

Contrary to some people I am not insensitive about suicide but if religion can caution you to face your situation headstrong, then I believe it is better than not believing in anything.

What is sad is there are Christians out there who are contemplating suicide but because of nasty attitudes like yours they'll never speak their minds but will instead execute their self harm plans.

Christians are not oppressing anyone. Just like their belief and what the bible says, they are only fulfilling their obligations based on the bible. Which is preach the word and let people know they can be saved through Jesus Christ. I don't see that as oppression.

You can decide to set your threads to promote your atheist approach but you don't have to mock another person's belief to prove your point

Notwithstanding, it is very wrong to believe that atheists just want to attack christianity and they actually spend their time doing that. Many atheists were Christians before and naturally understand the bible. So, many of them do not have to study the bible again as atheists.

Christians on nairaland talk about Holy Spirit, word of God with the exception of a few. Why can't you atheist preach your gospel without mocking other people's belief. I'm sure you know that there is freedom of religion. You don't have to mock someone's God to prove your atheist point.

Yes I believe and I know that it is those who don't believe in God that commit suicide. A real Christian and I don't mean those who use the word loosely, knows to trust in God. Every Christian mantra is no condition is permanent. That is why when they have problems they go to God.

I had to bring up suicide just the same way you brought up the problems of some of the churches. It shouldn't hurt you because I made a point ,that whether you believe in God or not, problems will still come. It is life. But again as an atheist I'm not surprised about your limited thinking.
