The best solution for the Catholic church is to transfer Father Mbaka to a South West State ... somewhere in a very remote village where they have these old members and are trying to develop. Suspension is not the solution, it seems he's been in that place for too long and the members are attached to him. A very humble transfer is the only administrative solution to this problem. |
My dear Nigerians please don't sell your vote come 2023. If you're lucky to survive this Buhari's government...you have not died of poverty, committed suicide, kidnapped, killed by herdsmen or accident. Please vote for a competent candidate. Remember that if you sell your vote for 1000, 2000, or 5000...the person you're putting there will be earning millions monthly. Your 2k will finish that day, and you will suffer. We need someone that will fix economy now, restore Nigeria. Please put aside your hatred for Igbos...we need Peter Obi not because he is Igbo but because we need someone who is competent. If you want your suffering to end, put aside your tribe, put aside political gain. None of this politicians rate you, you only get the crumbs at the expense of your suffering. Please vote to save Nigeria, vote to save your life. |
Na.. you don't get that kind of convinction from accuracy. But again I said it's a matter of time with you. I believe you will find a balance eventually. Some people have to go through things in life, make certain decisions but eventually it leads them to the truth. I'm sure in your quest for the truth, you will find enlightenment and you will eventually make your decision. It's all part of the healing process. I don't believe you have found the truth you're looking for, I don't think anybody can take you to that truth but yourself. Some things will happen naturally not because they are forced but because they are meant to be. Eventually we will all have our stories to tell.. you can call it red pill blue pill...but eventually all leads to one reality and one truth. LordReed: |
Possibly but I know people have different thresholds for pain. Some people are more resilient but I think most times they find their way back at their time. It might take a long while but they come back. That type of faith doesn't poof in thin air Image123: |
With that type of conviction I read from you on that thread...it takes more than just a simple I don't believe anymore. Anyway I know some things are too personal to share online. But I'll tell you something, I sense something happened within the space of that three years. You know that there's a thin line between love and hate right? When you love something so passionately like I felt all that emotion in your defenses. It takes just one single moment to turn all that love around hence your passionate angle on atheism. You defended Christianity passionately with the the same energy you are using on atheism today. It tells me only one thing about you. I can sense you feel things deeply but I can also tell that in a couple of years you'll experience more in life and your views will change. So I'm not going to tell you to go back, but I'll tell you to heal. As long as it takes you, but make sure that you heal. LordReed: |
@LordReed...what happened between 2012 to 2018? I was reading on a topic on Nairaland and found old threads. Stubbled across the tongue speaking bible believing Lord Reed. What happened to him? What did he experience that took him away from the faith. He made a promise, he said he would not back out any soon but in a space of 6 years he did. I want to call him back, I want to feel what he felt. I want to know what happened that forced such a change in such a short time. Maybe it's the empath in me but I want to because I can't understand. LordReed: |
It's easier than you think. Go to the spirit realm and find out. AntiChristian: |
He is the lesser of two evils. What people don't know they fear. If we're looking for a real change in Nigeria, let's see what he has to offer. Nyne: |
Me I don't believe it is. What if there's an emergency? You can save the live of someone, that's why it's a mobile phone. You carry it every where. What you do is up to you though. If you chose to play games, surf the internet or chat with a love interest, then you don't want to be part of the service you're attending. Also, if the person next to you is complaining, that person is not serious either. If he's following the service and concentrating, he won't even notice if fly passes by. coputa: |
Thank you I've started on it. It's still a long journey but I've started. azammi: |
You see whether you mock religion till the end of your lifetime it really doesn't matter to us. Those that will believe will believe and those who will remain doubtful will continue. However, you see what is certain is that we all we die one day and then, the truth will be revealed. You won't be able to come back to nairaland to recount your experience and those alive will continue in their ways until their time. In fact, we will still have more people taking up your occupation mocking Christianity. You were not the first either. Anyway, this is what I'll ask you. What if you find out you've been wrong all along? You don't get a do over. A wise person who doesn't believe in religion, we spend their days doing good. They will love those around them, care for them and when they go, people will talk of life like they were a religious person. People who don't believe will and are wise will say, I'm not sure I believe but just in case it's all turns out true, I want to be on the right side with my good deeds. So re-evaluate yourself and decide which you prefer.. spending time insulting God, or people's beliefs or just been good and living a simple life? We all have choices. FatherOfJesus: |
Did you at one time post on the Muslim section? There's a declaration there that makes you swear to only believe in Allah truthsayer009: |
Is it with 70k he wants to pay lawyer? Your uncle is a lazy man. My advise is you shouldn't follow in his steps. A lazy man with no busy schedule and has enough time to hear gossip about his wife's activities. Please advise your uncle to find rent, if not he should get ready to pack out. In 2022, and people still reason like this. Mtchew ReneJay: |
Hello You can desire these gifts, as the bible rightly says but it is the Holy Spirit that decides which to give. If you can't speak now, it doesn't mean you can't have it. However, what I'll say is discover your other gifts and use them to serve God. I couldn't speak before and I wasn't even interested. I recently asked for it and God gave it to me. I don't think anyone can give any valid explanation of how gifts are distributed but we all know that the moment you receive the Holy Spirit, a change comes. There are 9 gifts that Paul mentions and I'm sure you have some already. Work with them and just keep asking, God sees your heart and he will give you that which you deserve. Ficco: |
Hope you're okay? I'm sure there are some really good times you've experienced. Everything is a phase, it will pass. I think you should reflect on the things you have and not what you've lost. Re-evaluate yourself, try to do things differently. Sometimes the steps we take affects us. You don't need a university education to be successful. I can't say much other than when you fail, you keep trying until it works out. God rewards hardwork and steadfastness. IANAGI: |
Anti-christian what's your point. Allah is just Arabic for God. So do you expect to have more than one Arabic translation? Anyway for you to know God has many names, every tribe and culture have a name for God. The Eli, Elohim are Hebrew versions for God, one is singular, while the other is plural. The Allah of Islam may be the same as God, but a misrepresented version of the eternal God. Anyway just serve your God your way and stop wasting time picking on other religions. Why don't you tackle Hinduism, and others. There are over 1500 religions in the world but every day your issue is with the Christian Bible. |
That's it..what do you mean by our present time? Has the meaning of love changed it's definition? Yes love like that exist? Unless you're saying love is out of this world. We make choices and it's our choices that has led us to where we are. Love or marriage today has no meaning, no value. A marriage without love is doomed to fail. To answer the question, I'll say what I said before, stop looking for benefits. Stop making finding a partner a mission. If it happens, it should happen naturally then you know if it is worth it. Marriage is not a project or a business venture. BabaIbo: |
The responses here is enough reason why divorce is rampant in our generation. How can someone start a topic, what is the benefit of marriage? For one thing marriage is not meant to have any benefit, people shouldn't get married because they want to get something from the union. Women are not baby making machines either and men shouldn't feel obligated to get married. However, marriage is one of the oldest institutions in the world. People were meant to marry for love, in fact people eloped to have secret marriages when the odds were against them. If you're marrying because you want something out of it, you will be disappointed and you will leave your wife. If you stay, it would just be like sharing a house. When you decide that you want to marry, it means every part of you wants to be with that person, you don't want to share them with another. You're laying a claim on your love and letting everyone know that you chose that person. Well that's for genuine love. But if you set out on a mission to find a life partner, well that's like every business contract. It will end, you will lose interest, you won't find its value because it didn't happen naturally. You decided okay I'm looking for a girl, I'm checking out her properties, can I wife her? All that is a project, what do you expect like any other business arrangement? You expect her to give you kids, care for your home cook and do the tumble. No genuine love, nothing. Some people even marry for status. Some for the gram.. every minute a picture for the perfect family. Well that's a benefit for them. If you're marrying for anything other than love, im sorry you're in for a rough start. |
Where is the remaining part.. haba which one is suspense |
Everybody believes in the supernatural.. some people are just looking for proof...so they choose to stay in denial |
Please ignore kobojunkie...op already mentioned some people will come cause confusion. He has a habit of arguing with himself. The thread will end up in confusion if you let him. OP yes lots of people who have seen Jesus. After all we are serving a living God. How else can we testify that Jesus is alive. Jesus Christ mentioned he would not abandon his church, he won't leave us. It's a refreshing experience knowing that Jesus lives forever and we will one day be with our King. Truvelisback: |
Another Sunday another day devil's instruments come to turn away the hearts of men from God. You see there's really no difference between the pastors and evangelists trying to convert people to Christianity and nairaland atheists. What they both have in common is aggressive soul winning. So which side of history do you want to be: The part that works tirelessly to let people know that life on earth is not entirely free but that we are all accountable to our Creator? Or That we are on our own, and even bigger than God, or that we don't need God. If you spend every waking day with different monikers telling people that belief in God is unreasonable, then you've already become a prophet or Pastor for the devil. Your primary assignment is to turn people away from God. You are not concerned about your faith but intend to take others along with you. That's recruitment. So what topic will it be next week? Shalom |
Why do you choose to remain a Catholic? I choose to remain a Catholic because that's where I get an undiluted word of God. They don't try to mend scripture to fit a certain narrative. They teach the bible in its true meaning. I like that they are not for profit making and that preach salvation rather than prosperity. The embodiment of Catholic is living a life of holiness, asking for forgiveness and repentance. You only get to understand the true nature of God, the live of Jesus and the disciples through the Catholics. Have you ever been a non-Catholic before? Yes, I was non-catholic and born a non-catholic. What was your experience like? It was not a good experience, I won't mention the name of the churches for the sake of sanity. What I can say is they all had the same message, money. One was always talking about how they started a small church, moved to stadium and how millions of people were following them. Another was deceiving members to claim they will buy car and become millionaires. Another the service was like an event, everybody had like 5 to 10 minutes timeslot because they had to cover 5 church services on Sunday, so basically it was like marking attendance. I only had one experience, with one that was inspiring, and the message was what I really needed it. The truth was that most of them, their sermons targeting certain people probably to get funds who knows. Why do you choose to remain a Catholic? It may have had a chaotic history, but it is still the first church. The teachings as I have studied have not changed and they don't try to adopt new age practices or religion. A lot of people may disagree with them but since I've been a Catholic, I have experienced God in ways I never knew. I don't think I'll be be leaving Catholic church. Although I still attend other church programs, seminars and the rest. I believe the church of God is one. But I choose to remain Catholic to stay connected to the truth. essentialone: |
I'll draw a line here. Even in law there's usually customary practices. Marriage ceremonies in Isreal and any other country was born out of customs. And not every account of their ceremonies or rites were documented in the Bible. Don't even try going that route. The fact that the Bible is a Christian guide book, you should know there are thousands of other scriptural texts and historical facts not recorded in it. So what your question should be is researching how marriages were conducted and how vows originated. Like I said marriage is an earthly commitment. We are expected to fill the earth and multiply. Where the bible comes in is our obligation to our partner, you're to treat with love and respect. For me I do not agree with polygamy ,but you can't use the bible to coerce me to stay put in that regard. It's a moral guide, yes but that doesn't mean I agree with everything in it. The bible contains first the word of God, historical information, cultural practices and morals or philosophy. So when you try to put the bible in front of polygamy, it's like you're saying God commands it. When in essence it means man has always been polygamous, it was their custom to have multiple wives. So don't misrepresent it as an instruction from God or Jesus Christ. So you can't even bind me to the practices of the Isrealites even if God doesn't expressly condemn it. AntiChristian: |
As far as I'm concerned I'm making it clear from the get go..if you bring any woman, that's cheating, adultery and I'm getting a divorce settlement. To you it's polygamy, to me it's adultery, we made a vow to be together at the alter. Someone broke that vow. As for remarrying, the bible doesn't speak against it. Forget what all those pastopreneurs say. In fact there are numerous scripture supporting divorce in the bible, and it lists its conditions. I'm not going into the details because I've done my research, and I've decided what works for me. I don't have to stay with someone who cheats and disguises as marrying multiple women. I'm not a commodity and if a man has fallen out of love with his wife enough to bring another, I believe that relationship has reached its expiry date. Like I said it's a human thing, there is no marriage in heaven, and nobody's going to hell because of a failed marriage. AntiChristian: |
No that's not true, I've never and I never claimed at any point that the bible speaks against marrying more than one wife. I only said I personally won't accept it. I'm not married and if I do, I won't stay in such environment, in fact I'm putting it in my prenup, if he brings another, I'm getting money and lots of it, and going off. I'm not going to study those versions because I'm not going to agree with it, like I said God doesn't interfere in the affairs of man. The fact that the bible doesn't speak against it doesn't mean that everyone should agree with it. I don't, and that's why I'll choose the highway. AntiChristian: |
Why? I don't have interest in this topic anti-christian. I'm a bible believing Christian that supports divorce and can't live in a forced situation. Anyone that wants to more should go o... its not by force. It's adultery, and a good ground for divorce. AntiChristian: |
There's something I always say and most people may disagree with me but it's my opinion. God does not always interfer in the affairs of man. I personally don't think that God is concerned about marriages but I believe God is more concerned about how we treat the people around us. So this goes with the saying love your neighbor as yourself. You can't have two or more wives and treat them equally. They can't all feel loved. Even if it satisfies the man, it isn't fair on women. Many women who have stayed in such marriages do so in obedience to their husband, culture or for their kids. It's never what they want, how would you feel if the roles were reversed, a woman decides to have more than one husband. Now, that's controversy. So I'm not arguing about scripture but on moral grounds, how do you love your partner, if you decide she is not enough for you. What if she feels you're not enough for her, and chooses to bring in another man, will you stay? AntiChristian: |
Polygamy is not a sin but the truth is you can't love two people equally. If you're bringing another in, the love will diminish. It's like buying a new car. You won't have much time with the old one but rather show off your new ride. You may even contenplate selling it off. So polygamy isn't great. It breeds spite, jealousy, resentment and many bitter feelings in the home. Children suffer it more because they always have to compete for attention. I'm really disappointed in Yul, because he should know better. We claim our generation is enlightened and we strive not to make the mistakes people did in the past. But here we are, repeating history's mistakes. I guess people never really change, we continue to live in a never ending cycle of dysfunction. |
Stop defending what you don't know. This has happened before in one African country recently. A pastor told them the same thing and the members were locked up in the church and the place burned. All of them died, people couldn't get to them on time. Nobody knew if the pastor burned along with them or found a back way out. VoteTinubu2023: |
The pastor must have really liked whoever this person is. He helped him deceive the members, more business. However, he also aided in the sin, deceiving people, I don't know which one is worse. It's better you just leave these things alone than faking it, because at the end of the person misses their chance to experience real miracles. They have successfully convinced themselves it isn't real and well they won't bother accepting anything that comes real. They'll still think everything is an act. I hope whoever that is, they find God even outside miracles, I think people experience God in different ways, so I can't judge. |
Nothing in life comes easy. I remember somewhere I saw, "A man of vision is a mad man until the vision is fulfilled". Your dream obviously meant you have a gift in music and to minister through praise and worship. Now if you want it to be heard, I don't think you need a sponsor. Start like every successful music writer or musician has started. You learn music, the cheapest way is to join a choir. Hone your skills there, you have access to musical instruments in church, where you can work with others who understand how musical instruments work. Learn and then you probably will get to understand how music works. Last time I checked, music writers only need to write songs, and sell them to make money. I don't think you have to pay for a music studio or spend money doing anything. Promote what you do by letting people know you write songs. Since it's gospel music your best bet is church. You can write for upcoming artists who want to sing but don't have songs. I don't think you'll make money immediately but with time, it would pay off. I really don't think you need a sponsor for creativity, it speaks for itself. Ayesolve: |
