You can go to submit. Their office is it lekki third round-about. Just tell the bus conductor that you will stop at the third round-about. After stopping, cross to the other side of the road and go in through the gate and ask. VFS office is just right visible at the entrance. Pheisharah: Can I go der to still submit, do u know d directions or is it just d Ikeja office that collects visa application in Lagos ? |

Yea. What do you want to know about it? Pheisharah: Please has anyone tried submitting/knows about submission via paper route to the lekki visa app center? Please reply urgently |

@ chebe, thanks for the observation but am not saying uchethalia101 is wrong about her statement, I only said she should not make it look as if S.O.P is outrightly not needed. Becos a S.O.P. it only gives room for further explanations and and expression of interest in course of study, and the likes. And at times, u tend to convince the V.O the more about your intention of studying in Canada with a 'very well drafted S.O.P' thanks. Chebe01: On the contrary @penitential, @uchethalial101 is very correct in my opinion. An LOE should be used to explain any complications or discrepancies in someone's application. An SOP on the other hand should explain your "statement of purpose" and here you can tell your story if need be. From my understanding, @uchethalial101 is not discouraging anyone from using either or both forms of letter but is contributing an observation so that people would not muddle the two up. If there are fields within the application form which give one an opportunity to state his purpose of application, why then should one write another SOP? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by penitential(m): 12:35pm On Jul 22, 2016 |
I will like to tell you that the fact that u did not submit a S.O.P and you got your TRV does not mean that any other person should not submit. There is someone on this thread who got denied on the fact that he didn't added the statement of purpose and was later denied on "purpose of visit" so please don't discourage people from writing their S.O.P. there are so many things that your S.O.P can contain(not only the reason for choosing the proposed course of study). No offense meant please and please am not out here to attack anyone. Just my own opinion. uchethalia101: I don't understand what this SOP is actually for. If it is just a letter explaining why you chose your desired course and why you chose to undergo the course in Canada, put these as answers to the questions in the study permit questionnaire. At least that's what I did. I filled every part of the study permit questionnaire and it covers these issues. LOE on the otherhand, in my opinion, should be written when you have a complicated or peculiar application.

Also, the fact that you have nine(9) years experience in that same field will increase your chances of getting admission as admissions decisions in Canada is not only based on your academic qualifications but also with your field knowledge and experiences. Folatem: Hello great pple in the house,
Permit me to use this space to thank you all for the great work you all are doing in here. I've been an ardent follower of this thread even before registering on nairaland, and I must confess that I've gain so much from the forum.
I've got a whole lot of knotty issues I'd like you guys to help with.
Background: I'm seeking a PhD (Electrical & Computer Engineering) admission into a Canadian university (preferably Alberta or Manitiba). I have the following grades in my previous studies - B.Eng CGPA - 4.09/5.0 and M.Eng GPA - 3.9/5.0 (57.3% average). I also have nine (9) years working experience in the telecommunication industry.
1. Would I be eligible for a PhD admission (with/without funding) with the above credentials?
2. If not (considering my unimpressive M.Eng grades), and I choose to apply for MSc (thesis based), would it be an added advantage applying with my M.Eng, or I should just apply with the B.Eng?
3. Wouldn't applying with a M.Eng (for another master program) place on me, a burden to convince the VO (when applying for study permit) on the need for an additional masters degree?
All contributions are welcome! Especially for my experienced bosses in the house (wouldn't want to mention names b'cos you guys are all great!)
Thanks. |

As regard getting admission for PhD, i will have to tell you that you have good chances of getting admission esp into Manitoba cos Alberta is a very competitive school(not ruling your chance of admission out though) but you stand a better chance with UofM cos applications into PhD programs are few compared to Undergrad, Post-graduate and Masters. Also try going for your PhD rather than applying for another M.Eng to save you from having to start thinking of how to convince the V.O your reasons for another M.Eng when you have one already and in the same line of study. Thanks @justwise This thread should be an educative and informative thread and not a thread that will be base on arguments all because someone wants to prove he\she is a Mr and Mrs "know all". If you make a statement and someone correct you, does not mean he\she he is is better than you, you can as well correct someone else tomorrow. Please let's all bury our pride and humble to learn and move forward. Everyone has been wonderful in one way or the other. Thank you all. justwise: @All

thanks mich. i left N.Y.S.C feb 2015, and i got job june 2015 which i included my employment letter. as regard my age, i clocked 29 last month. i have been working now for a year. though i dont have individual asset. i will definitely get some landed properties and include the documents in my next application. as regard my UG course i studied civil-engineering (ND&HND) and i got admission to study construction management, i work as the site-engineer/supervisor in the company i work with presently. michV: i have come across some refusal similar like this, how old are you and how long have you be working? Or did you have any unexplained gap from when u finished nysc to the time of application or if you r working did u add ur acct statement atimes depending on individual case Land deeds serve as a purpose here.atimes personal assets/financial status bring about purpose of visit. Moreover if there is inconsistency in ur intended program and ur UG study/work experience it brings about PURPOSE of VISIT. Travel history shldnt bother you and family ties |

Guy please can u provide me with the link to order the gcms file? MunezSanti: Well I requested my notes successful from outside of Canada and the fee I paid was $5 only. U need the following in other to request your notes: credit/visa card a signed consent form an address of someone you know in Canada a copy of someone's study or work permit (but this is optional) Internet access.
When in the online application, answer the questions as if you are in Canada. That's how I applied for my gcms notes and it was submitted successfully. Good luck |

@lawmerchant, please I sent you a p.m just now, please check your mail and reply. Thanks. lawmerchant: 16 (1) "A person who makes an application must answer truthfully all questions put to them for the purpose of the examination and must produce a visa and all relevant evidence and documents that the officer reasonably requires."
Have you ever been refused visa to other countries or asked to leave another country? If so, did you indicate this fact in your application? Subsection 16(1) is used by VO when someone lies in his/her application. Cant really say to what extent this was the situation in your case. |
