I dey his camp for this area specifically latency. What's the essence of the speed if the latency is so high ? Na the thing wey kill satellite internet be that before the coming of Starlink. The main selling point of Starlink is the shorter latency being closer to the earth thereby giving higher speeds. For people who do a lot of online gaming, VOIP, Zoom Meetings etc latency is crucial. Once speed passes one level, it doesn't really matter. 5G, 1Gigabit Links etc. Netflix recommends min 25Mbps to watch 4k content. Na quality over quantity that's the main thing he's pointing out. And for FTTH, that ultra milisecond of latency ensures that your traffic travels quickly and any application or inputs send over is translated quickly in realtime.
Thanks....you said it better than I could

speed isn't everytin ?.. bros abeg na autocorrect write dat statement? E b like u never experience good Internet speeds
Speed isn't everything....4G and 5G will deliver speeds that will be sufficient for most applications. Latency is another caveat. Communicating and doing internet application in real time with latency close to zero is the jewel. 5G was touted to achieve almost zero latency. That will be very useful in auto driving cars, performing remote surgeries by surgeons in real time,
online gaming etc . Zero latency is what technology is trying to achieve.

Sorry, don't know how to communicate it to you. I just hope you still understand

Fiber has coverage issues. Not every one have access to FTTH. Latency is not bad on Starlink.
The coverage will improve with time. Big telecoms only have there FTTH in selected locations in Nigeria. If you are in those coverage areas, its no gainsaying to subscribe to them especially if you are a heavy data consumer

fibre or no fibre. what we want to achieve is good speeds... i go see 150mbps satelite come go 25mbps. bros u sef tink am na....
It's OK....good speed isn't everything. Developed countries that are well connected use fibre to home. It supports large bandwidth transmission . And the best advantage is its latency. Nigeria is connected to the rest of the world through optic fibre.

Far better, please clarify.. Starlink is 100Mbps unlimited.. 38k
This is fibre, you can't compare to satellite or cable network. Fibre is the mainstay and future of communication. Communicating at the speed of light. It has better latency. I will always pick 25mbps fibre anytime, anyday over 150mbps satellite or cable link.

1.1TB within 2weeks?. Damn. That's unlimited and far better than starlink. Have been using Airtel ODU for the past 2 months and it's good but isnt unlimited. I hope our telecoms will transit from data cap to speed cap subscriptions with unlimited data usage like this MTN fibre

We don't earn respect my brother.....we give respect. Whatever we give is what we have. I have lived and worked in southeast for many years and i have heard that adage many times. Yet all manner of evil still thrive because everyone wants to earn respect by all means. They dont value you if you never arrive, and it shouldn't be.
I served in Northeast, and opposite is the case. Nobody cares if you are as rich as dangote, everyone is contented with their socioeconomic status. Everyone is respected within its own means.

If not for current insecurities the most comfortable place to live in Nigeria is northern Nigeria and it's because of their value system intertwine with their culture.

Southwest is mixed bag of the above.

The last election has caused a big divide in our country, and southeasterners need to know the more they continue their campaign of hate against the President of our country, the more they will become isolated in their own country. They should stop the cyberbullying and peddling of hate against our President, judiciary and Country

GREAT NEWS, perhaps they hv improved,.......................... perhaps cos its still new. hitting 85% performance by 10.30am is really really superb, that means it cud easily hit 100% and more between noon and 2pm...which is the period with highest generation

wish we can get this data after 2 or 3 yrs, as that's the average time, the performance of lowend panels nose-dive
My panels are average panels. Had them installed Dec 2020. Total of 2440watts in pv. Still generate this. That's more than 90% instantaneous pv generation after 2yrs of use. I feel it can still do more. Maybe average panels ain't that bad as we think.

Ah !!! That's quite a lot o.

Just got connected to FTTH by one of the internet service providers in my estate. I paid N65,000 for the connection and their unlimited Classic 30mbps internet speed at N21,380 and the speed has been consistent so far with highest latency of 148ms observed so far. I might upgrade to the 60mbps bundle for more speed for online gaming and that is gonna be just N28,891. I highly advise you contact the fibre providers in your areas to know of their service coverage. Abuja has been mainly covered including parts of the outskirts with fibre.
Name of your service provider?.....Fibre is the future

Thank you for your time.

By the way, you may recall our discussion about internet awhile back. I just subscribed to a dedicated 2Mbps service from Glo. Costs N41,000.00 monthly. Data cap is 1TB. If you exhaust the 1 TB before the 30 days is up, they dial you down to 512kbps but the internet does not shut down.

Should be activated by the end of the week.

Will tell you if it is worth the cost.
There are cheaper alternatives. Airtel ODU, It's a better alternative.
MTN also has fiber but it's only available in Lagos, ilorin, Abuja and few places. Check your location for it's availability.

Bought my SmartBox from ShopNig. Delivery and packaging was apt. The device is free, only paid for;
N20,000 subscription
N5,300. Cable
N1000. Park delivery
N6500. Delivery to Abuja, Jabi park.
N32,800. Total

I did some indoor speed tests, when i am able to mount the external unit outside i will run another test.

Top notch delivery & after sales service from ShopNig.
You might not need to move it outside, move it close around your windows. I got better speed inside than outside. Outside, the maximum speed I saw was around 50mbps, on the average 25-35mbps. Whereas indoor close to one of my windows, I do get 70-90mbps regularly

First of all I am not a good Christian. Christianity as forced on us Black Africans is a tool of colonalisation and subjugation.

How is LGBTQ a global inferno that will consume the entire humanity? As I asked earlier, how many people have LGBTQ killed? To me LGBTQ are a tiny minority making a lot of noise to get noticed. I believe sex whether straight or queer should not be a subject for public debate.

The Bible is the book employed to achieve their aims. Ever ask why the colonialist gave us Bible but not book on Calculus, Science and philosophy? Why they translated the Bible into our local languages but not books on science, mathematics and history? This was planned deliberately to make us hopelessly dependent on them for our basic survival. And to make sure we will not be technologically advanced enough to manufacture weapons that can challenge them.

Islam is a very violent and intolerant religion. It is a tool for political domination and conquests employing physical violence. The Christians sometimes use subtle means and persuasion before resorting to violence. The Islamists use direct violence to covert and then forcefully take over other peopes lands.

Let me say this, though most would ignore it.

There are lots of rePACKAGed batteries in the market. Even (popular) Luminous is mostly FAKE.
Some cunny Dealers/Sellers would give you a higher price, and whenn you try to price too much, they stylishly say "except you want those market batteries which we don't have" .

If you happen to know the price of original 100AH Luminous battery eh, you would begin to wonder how...

Let's not even get into battery Capacities. you see eh, that 220AH might not be up to 190AH.

Some expensive MPPT charge Controllers, might be less than Average PWM charge Controllers.

Be careful of (recommended) Dealers/outlets - You see eh, that you buying LG product from a branded outlet, doesn't necessarily mean you're NOT BUYing FAKE.

I don't often have time here, else would have started up a thread on how to use Solar without inVerter - of course that depends on nature of your Load
Especially that LG, Getting original LG tv is like looking for gold among stones. My mum bought fake, i got fake for my parent in law. I was able to get original. The difference between original and fake is like night and day in picture/video quality.
Anything LG, just go to Foani or any of there accredited sellers, that's the only 100% guarantee of getting original, anything apart from this, you might joyfully be hugging a fake home.

KINGKONG:
Dear fellow solar enthusiast and Engineers in the house……..

We all know the economy is biting harder every day and buying fuel every day to run the house while currently embarking on a house building project is really eating a big chunk on my daily expenses and I would like to take away this burden permanently by installing a solar system.

Firstly, Since I’m really new to this kind of setup… I would like to ask a lot but few questions so that I can choose or make the best decision when getting the system installed in my house. I have already settled for a 3.5KVA Inverter solar system, because I need it to power my chest freezer at home (Since this is the most important thing at home for food storage) NEPA light is non-existent in my area

1. Which inverter brand is the best based on your experience or customer reviews, I have heard about transformer based and those with microprocessors, which one is better and can withstand the test of time (I know nothing lasts forever) but I should get value for my money

2. For a 3.5KVA system, How many batteries and solar panels is needed for this kind of setup to power a chest freezer for at least 4-5 hours daily

3. What is the difference between the 12V, 24V and 48V type of inverter system? Which one of this is more efficient?

4. What’s the best and efficient battery for a good solar system setup, I understand Lithium battery is good, but right now it is expensive for my budget (Cos I’m currently embarking on a project that requires more funds) Tall Tubular Battery? Gel-battery or Lead acid battery?

5. Which brand of solar panels is better? I’ve read online that Monocrystalline Panels are the best, but which of this MC panel brands in Nigeria are of good quality?

6. Is it a requirement to buy lot of panels with low wattage when I can get a higher wattage panels with less quantity to install on the roof?

7. Why do we settle for inverters with external charge controller rather than an inbuilt charger or recommend a good hybrid inverter brand with at least 100A MPTT Charge controller

8. Lastly, is there a type of inverter that can use energy generated directly from the solar panels during the day for powering of appliances while charging the battery for night use without been in use during the day time? If yes what are the setup required for this kind of system?

I know most of these questions might have been answered in previous pages, but I will be grateful if you guys can be of help to a newbie trying to get some information on solar systems

3.5kva is good. You can go for an Hybrid system, it's efficient. 3kva/24v or 5kva/48v all Hybrid inverter will serve you a long time. Batteries are the most important part of the system, so don't cheapen out on it. If you have extra money go for lithium, but if you don't quality wet Tall Tubular batteries will serve you a long time.

1) 3kva/24v with 5kwh batteries, 1500w of solar panels
2) 5kva/48v with 10kwh batteries 2500w of solar panels
Any of the 2 options will do.
I have used felicity hybrid, and is good. There are other brands equally good or more reliable as well. Your pocket determines your choice
We have installers on this platform, you can check out there reputation/reliability here. They can easily get the job done for you. And lastly, enjoy the free goodies from the big boss Sun

However any MTN SIM card will work on it once migrated to HYNET PLAN
This is not fair.....how will you be selling a car without its engine. The sim is what you are mostly buying when you buy this, not exactly the modem/router. Those Sims are data sim not your regular Sims and mtn has unlimited broadband plans for them. Sell the sim and give the modem to a friend, or sell both at giveaway price.
