....... mentally deranged Nigerians. wholeheartedly defending a government that can't provide guns and bullets for its soldiers.soldiers are going AWOL! I guess its also the doctors fault. in case you have forgotten boko haram has retaken gwoza while your soldiers are burning their uniforms and hitching rides.....lol crazy Nigerians! defending a president who is in Germany for medical attention as I type this, while his hospitals remain shut. the ordinary Nigerians can die for all he cares. if that is not Jonathan flipping a giant-sized middle finger at all of you,I don't know what is. you guys really deserve that drunken clown and his cronies. |
esere826: You're probabably a doctorplease go and sit down. I am not interested in this your epistle/PhD thesis. where is the president of your country as I type this? |
esere please stop. you ain't making sense. |
esere826: @ ifyclose2how do you want doctors to fight Ebola without PPEs? everybody is insulting the doctors but have you people ever asked whether the govt has done what its supposed to do? by the way your third point is laughable. you are not praising her for treating him but restricting him. what is the difference that action does not have anything to do with intelligence. any doctor would have done the same after all what is there to lose after you've been infected? |
one was from a country whose leaders know what good governance is about. a country that knows that the people have the power. the other was from a country with m.oronic leaders who fly out when they have indigestion while 16000 doctors are sacked and hospitals poorly equipped. a failed state. that is the difference! |
lokoloko84: To you it is rubbish since you lack a good sense of reasoning.please don't make me laugh. reread the op ,reread your first post then ask yourself whether your reply was APPROPRIATE to the original post. |
lokoloko84: Then you can tell some of us,why your fellow doctors are now begging USA to release zmapp.rubbish post! as usual you miss the point. |
thats why our hospitals can remain closed for months while resident doctors are sacked. This i.diot and his family can jet out anytime they like and nigerians see no problem with it. we must be a cursed people! |
but has he not said the truth? you cant end the insurgency without tackling headlong some very basic things. schooling jonathan since the drunk does not know his left from his right. |
dumodust: Loool... this demdem guy is on fire oa deal is in the offing. senate president had to call NMA to deal. forget the propaganda from chukwu and that fat slob, pius anyim that cant stay awake for mre than 10 minutes... ![]() |

erico2k2: Guy Im not i n dispute that they dont go on strike, try and get where Im coming from,if you check very well its on the Docs that belong to agreed Unions that go on strike. In my place of work, I dont belong to any Union, however my colleagues do so if they vote to go on strike,I will still go to work.If you check they refuse to attend to non urgent medical cases,Now in NIgeria since the Docs are on strike would they treat Accident victims? or someone who got shot by armed robbers? or perform C sections?answer is NO, this is where Im trying to direct you to when it comes to ethics, in the west saving a life comes first to the Doctors before money hope you understand where Im coming fromno problems at all. i perfectly understand you but you almost also remember we live in an insane country wth insane and dishonest leaders who dont keep to agreements |
Morotov1: I am a cleaner and very soon will be a consultant cleaner. ......yea the lowest in the food chain. Happy now. smhyeah i wouldnt have posted so condescendingly if i was refering to people like samgruec for instance. |
jackal001: You are one of the worst idiots we have in this country and Nigeria can never progress with people thinking like you. It's obvious you're a doctor but a very shameless one at that. So just for the fact that it involves a doctor it shouldn't be said in public? OMG I feel sick knowing that people like you still have the effrontery to open ur mouth and voice ur support of corruption instead of just keeping it to ur insufferable self alone. If we don't expose corrupt people regardless of who they are and where they come from then where are we heading as a country? Please keep this kind of rotten and archaic opinion to urself alone and not in this honorable forum. Mtchewwhes not a doctor o!!!! i think hes a lab technician or something. a doctor would never make that comment he made. ![]() |
i gather from a reliable source that the FG is getting ready to play ball. its still being kept a secret what has been achieved. consequently an EDM might be convenen before the end of the week so delegates can review progress. |
National President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Kayode Obembe, on Wednesday expressed strong indications that the over six weeks industrial action embarked upon by medical doctors across the country, will soon be called-off. Obembe, stated this after he led members of the NMA executive to hold a marathon meeting, behind closed doors, with the Senate President, David Mark, from the late hours of Tuesday to the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja. The meeting, according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Mr. Paul Mumeh, on Wednesday, was also attended by the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan; Senator Tunde Ogbeha and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe. The statement explained that Obembe said he would not give the exact date and time that the strike would be called off until he reports back to his members. He was, however quoted to have described the meeting with the Senate President as, “very useful and successful” Obembe described as incorrect, “the notion in some quarters that the striking doctors abandoned the nation in this trying times of major heath challenge on account of the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease.” He clarified that ” there was never a time we refused to respond to the national emergency, we have been alive to our duties as professionals and to our father land.” The NMA boss said, “Doctors were not unmindful of the health challenges faced by the nation at the moment but needed government to correct some abnormalities in the health sector to make it more effective and responsive to the health care needs of the citizens.” He pledged to convene a stakeholders meeting very soon as part of the process to put an end to the current industrial action. It will be recalled that the doctors embarked on the strike early last month following their disagreement with the federal government over alleged unpaid allowances. But the statement added that Mark, during the closed door meeting, reminded the doctors of the implications of the strike to the health of the citizens if they continue. He said that there were indications that government complied with a reasonable number of their demands. Mark then pleaded with them to return to work just as he promised to table their grievances before Mr. President with a view to finding answers to them. Obembe also promised to brief his members before the final decision to call off the action, would be taken. source |
thank you chioma.let me add a few things. proffemi: It may not be intentional, but you're talking down to me here. You may be interested to note that I have lectured in a university for many years, and count among my friend and research collaborators over a dozen consultants. You say NMA is not against other unions getting N100k hazard allowance? The omens suggest differently, what with how central the issue of relativity is to the current crisis.how does it suggest differently. NMA has asked for an upward review for its members.NMA has never suggested that the same review not be applied to johesu.it is left for JOHESU ask for that. it appears the term RELATIVITY is what you dont really understand. all over the world, there is a relativity in the health sector. in nigeria, the standard relativity is 4:2;1.6 for the doctor,pharmacist/lab techs/radio,nurses respectively as regards the entry point INTO THE CIVIL SERVICE. it must be respected because we all do not have the same responsibility in the hospital. in the radiology department, the radiographers are basically "photographers" and in some cases sonographers. they acquire the images. THE RADIOLOGIST(who is the doctor) interpretes these images and makes a diagnosis. surely you cant expect them to earn the same. never mind what you see in town where radiographers scan patients or read radiographs and make diagnosis. that is quackery.pure and simple and it happens because nigeria is a country of anything goes. pharmacists dispense.thats all they do. the job description they are quick to throw in our faces is not even followed by them.no one has stopped them from following it BUT IT IS EASIER FOR THEM TO JUST DISPENSE AND EARN A SALARY AT THE END OF THE MONTH.EASY MONEY! lab techs do the bench work in the labs but just like the radiographers, they get lab results BUT do not have the clinical training to tie it up with the patients symptoms, signs and radiological investigations. the doctor is essentially the super-glue that ties everything up together and makes a final decision on the patient.that is quite some responsibility you must agree. so a relativity must exist. BUT what do we have now in nigeria? the relativity between the doctor and others has been eroded over years while doctors were busy reading big books.now we are in a fix. the wrong thing has gone on for so long that many young intern pharmacist or lab techs think it is normal for them to EARN THE SAME WITH A DOCTOR. concerning the issue of secretary or minister of health, you are right. it should be headed by any health worker who has some degree of management training. that is why the NMA is asking for post of surgeon general.that post should be created to allow the responsibilities OF THE MINISTER OF HEALTH, THAT SHOULD BE HANDLED ONLY BY A DOCTOR(e.g public health issues),BE MANAGED UNDER A SEPARATE OFFICE. |

Dreambeat: So why did he not return to his post after the 'clearance'.Something tells me that he was probably indicted but because of his political affiliation, his friends didn't want him disgraced hence was given a milder punishment of not returning to his duties.God bless you! this is probably the smartest post on this issue. |

lrguru: that I hope will be the last meat u eat, so u better start eating crayfish cos no more work for u cos u are jobless.very funny! when I make more in town? let the strike continue forever..... ![]() |
Morotov1: Permit me to share my thought.let it go to the dogs!! I resisted travelling out a decade ago when I qualified and I regret it now. my friends urged me to come over to T&T after all I had my MBBS from a recognised institution in Nigeria therefore I didn't need to write their licensing exams. I just needed to pay the $3500 bond, and of I went. 5000-6000 US dollars per month tax free is decent income scalable to 7-8thousand dollars working extra jobs. thinking back now, I should have gone. would probably be in the US now, qualifying as an "attending". the path I took was a mistake! |
magnusalbertus: As a doctor how can I move to the Caribbean, pls I need info.where did you train? because depending on where you trained, you will not need to write any licensing exams. |
anonimi: This is very sad. I hope the family and friends she left behind will find the strength to continue this life without her. |
