YourHealthlabs: Bwhahahahaha, you are pained, i keep bloating your ego, i do it online and offline.

Let me play your game, i'm your ORACLE in the medical laboratory, you gerrit?

Let me tell you a story, one of your Seniors(i know you are still in school), a medical intern with absolutely nothing in his head, wrongly queried one of my lab assistants about collection of 2HPP/FBS sample in a F.O bottle, he insisted he'll collect it an L.H bottle in the ward. I told my assistant to allow him do the collection but ensure that he signs. Of course the puffy goon signed.

I collected the sample and ordered the documentation of the blunder with his name and threatened to write and copy to the CMLS, C.M.D, D.A, health board and other important offices with photocopies of the incidence attached. The brat came begging like a wet puppy. I wouldn't listen to him until his supervising consultant came to make peace. His name is still in that incidence register for posterity sake. Due process.
He learn't humility the hard way. Guess who avoids the other today. Your guess is as good as mine.

Now boy, if you don't bend down humbly and study your books, similar fate awaits you when you graduate, you might not find a person as forgiving as i am when you dig yourself into that pit. imp!
tales by moonlight!!

iiiyyyk: So u now convert nigerian salaries to US salaries in dolars
See how poor our Drs reason, very skewed. These guys cant ever be rational and reasonable always living in closed boxes, no doubt people detest u guys.
Why didn't u compare medical school fees in USA and what u pay in here in Nigeria,
Why didn't u compare the cost of fuel in USA and what u buy here in Naija.
Ur argument is wicked same way u pple are wicked to other health professionals,
What is the salary of a sonographer in your department. U as a students earns 3x more than him, few yrs later, u become a consultant and earn 6x more than him.
Wicked egocentric.
The end is very near.
we have no sonographers in my department. we don't allow radiographers touch the ultrasound machine. why? because they dont know that a very echogenic liver + mild ascites maybe very early cirrhosis OR an echogenic liver may be hepatitis. they can only recognise an echogenic liver. QED.
I hope you know your idio.tic senators earn more than their US counterparts just for sitting on their a**** all day. channel your queries to them.don't point your fingers at the doctors.

slyzy: Forget that thing! How many doctors have been sued in Nig in proportion to the number of pple they give permanent disabilty with injection we see limping about? What of those they kill with misdiagnosis? Have u not heard of cases that they forget some tool in a patient stomach after operation? An the chain continues... An average Nigerian will let go even if the doctor tries to deny unprofessionalism saying is the will of God. So, how many doctors are sued in Nig as u are trying to claim?
direct your issues and questions to lawyers.

Sagamite: Considering you are a qualified "medical doctor" that does not know how to start a sentence with capital letters, I suspect you are overpaid in comparison to your US counterparts.

Never compare yourself to Western counterparts considering the quality of their education and their productivity.

If I had the choice, just based on looking at your post, I would not let you be in charge of any healthcare I receive. I like to see from all evidence that my personal physician is top notch.

adeoladrg: Mumu like you. His parents wanted him to study medicine, he rebelled and went for pharmacy whose requirements were higher than medicine that year. Use Google plsss!

Was that even the question I asked? Why Obembe skip the interview?
I hope you watched that interview and noticed that the public analyst could see right through your people. they were so filled with emotions, I had pity on them. obembe would have looked odd there like a 40yr old in a room full of toddlers. it was a strategy absenting himself and we all support it.

smh.....only in Nigeria!! you come online and get prescriptions from unknown persons who have not physically assessed you. anything you see at the end of the day, don't complain o! don't rush down here to open threads crying o!
if you are sensible, you will not take prescriptions from unknown persons. if yawa gas,you no go fit hold anybody here o! infact op go deactivate im account sharp sharp. a word is enough. let us leave the beef between doctors and johesu and say the truth. no one knows how far his advice will go outside naira land.
@seun, you could get sued for wrong prescriptions given on your forum. be wise!

I expect the sensible pharmacists to condemn this in its entirety. enough said.

sisiafrika: mum shagger, pray tell, have Nigerian doctors not reduced themselves to paracetamol prescriber? Pharm.d Dat is more clinically oriented was sabotaged by u greedy pests yet u complain about rxIst? How is it ur business if all dey do is dispense, is dat not all wat u doctors will allow dem do? Clinical pharmacy is more dan dispensing but u people will frustrate every effort to do more dan that. So who wants stress? Its relieving even. And as per ss issue, ur a baboon for saying 'no' research has been done. Ur head needs evaluation for saying dat, re u dat foolish or just acting up? Show links dat suPport ur claim of no research. Radiologist dat can't perform modalities yet would prevent a trained radiographer from doing is job. Shame on u, ur mates are into surgery, u reduced urself to ordinary radiologist, doing nothing.
oops looks like the jibe I took at you still hurts. like I said before, dumb chicks turn me off.stop chasing me around like a crack wh.ore in postwar Liberia. I can't discuss with you so look elsewhere.

docnuges: Yes the doctor prescribes, don't misinform people in a bid to gain public sympathy, if a doctor sends u the test results and clinical findings, does that mean its the job of the pharmacist to diagnose the patient? Please let's all not get carried away in a bid to gain public sympathy, one of the basic problems facing the health care delivery system is the inability of the professionals involved to work within their job description
brother I am a doctor. I just quoted a nurses posts

have you done an echocardiography since you started complaining of this issue?
my advice? get to LUTH and make sure to see a consultant cardiologist. not even a snr registrar.

prettyprettywow: they are under training and will reap the fruit of their labour after training. That is why they are paid specialist allowance. The same I can suffer to go back to school for PhD because I know I will reap the fruit of my labour after that. Resident Drs hear in US work like slaves and earn peanut, because they know very well that after that, they will reap the fruit of their labour. But Nigerian Drs want to start enjoying even while still in school. mtcheeewww
I am a snr registrar in radiology.my salary is barely $1500/month. my junior colleagues in the US earn about >$5000/ month.even if government adjusts the scale like we are asking, I still wouldn't earn up to $2000/mth. so what is the heaven and earth we are asking for? I have been collecting 5000naira per month hazard allowance ($30) for years. have the heavens fallen? I still do my job. what is the special thing you think we are asking for?
Health › Re: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by phantom(m): 5:23pm On Jul 12, 2014
prettyprettywow: Consultants are paid fairly well compared to other health workers. Unless you are saying that they deserve to be paid like US Drs. If you agree with that of the resident Drs, then let's introduce that into nigeria. Imagine resident Drs that are still under training going on strike. Only in Nigeria.
still under training but you forget these are already doctors who are specializing.why shouldn't they be paid and why shouldn't they go on strike? who do you think is the engine room of teaching hospitals. consultantshuh no. its resident doctors who work their a** off. even in the US, its residents. attending physicians are the big boys.they work less and earn more
Health › Re: Nma Strike, The Nurses' Perspective. by phantom(m): 5:12pm On Jul 12, 2014
Morotov1: Exactly, the only winners in these privatisation game will be ....
the lawyers that will draw out work schedule, terms of contract etc and also sue their assess off when there is any proof of gross negligence and malpractice or organise class action lawsuit or tort lawsuits against them.
the insurance guys who will map out water tight insurance plan with huge pay,
the politicians and big corporations who will buy the health facilities and make huge profits.
The health workers and patients will be a big pawns.
oga the laws of demand and supply will still take effect.privatization will pay more to who brings more to the table. specialist doctors WILL still be the highest paid.

go to the health departments of LNG or shell and see things for yourself
Health › Re: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by phantom(m): 5:02pm On Jul 12, 2014
prettyprettywow: but agree that those are the salaries of consultants that you are comparing to an entry level nurse. That resident doctors earn as little as 45k in US unlike here in Nigeria that they want to earn more than their employers. That it takes them years to pay the student loan + interest. That they also pay heavy malpractice insurance unlike nurses. So all those are considered when issues about salaries are handled in US. here, Drs go to school wnd pay same fee with others, yet they want to earn like US Drs .
consultants are paid heavily in the US but what of their colleagues here.
.....and I have no problem with resident doctors earning less than other health workers BUT you must also remember they are temporary staff unlike the others who are permanent.

bumfem: But u know patient must first be attended to by somebody. The make believe that patient comes to see the doctor is a fallacy. He has come to assess care. In the province of Ontario Canada, they now operate thru Family Health Team. This comprises of physician ,Nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists consulting on same desk. This has been researched to be more efficient and safe health cost. The ripple effect is that the patients get assessed by the health professionals that have the appropriate expertise to see him at first contact. This is never boss servant relationship.

The last time I check Canada health indexes are one of the best in the world .
my brother he has said the truth.its a pity pharmacists have reduced themselves to dispensing drugs. tomorrow when the nurses and lab scientists start poking fingers in your eyes, you will start complaining like doctors are doing now.mark my words!
sickle cell is endemic in our region.what have our pharmacists come up with as per research to improve the lives of sicklers.absolutely nothing! no research whatsoever.

blink182: The fact that it is done in Israel and UK doesn't make it right. Those health systems are fully developed and I believe there are alternatives already in place that will ensure no life is lost in their case unlike our own situation.

I will list alternatives to strike that wouldn't put the lives of patients in jeopardy.

Protests - take out time to organise daily protests at sensitive locations. Doctors on leave should form participating members of the protest.

Seek help from other trade unions during protest

Doctors are the ones in the system and should know other acts that hurt the government. Hurt the government and not your patients.

Shut down every Income generating agency in the health sector except hospitals.

Drop tools in all sensitive agencies the government needs to keep running.

Move for a legislation that prevents public office holders from seeking medical attention abroad from the president to ward councillors. This may seem outrageous and impossible but it can be achieved by gaining help from your patients by having doctors mobilise people in the 774 wards of the country to either have their legislators pass the bill or face recall. We should learn to live life to leave legacies behind instead of making our existence satisfied with just making enough money to live the good life. Nigeria needs radical change and it has to start from somewhere.

Doctors should start building from the foundation. Doctors are professionals I know that have the power to even topple a government through legitimate means. You guys should sit and start doing things the right way. I know for sure that the needs of NMA will not be fulfilled by this strike but one thing I can bet my life on is the hate you people have generated for yourselves from the populace.
have you been living under a rock? where were you when NMA was screaming itself hoarse about the health trips of our leaders and actually moved for a legislation banning such trips?

please tell us,what are the income generating agencies in the health sector apart from the hospitals?
Health › Re: Nma Strike, The Nurses' Perspective. by phantom(m): 4:27pm On Jul 12, 2014
Eratosthenes: At the heart of the crisis plaguing the healthcare sector are corruption and mediocrity. In my own opinion, the government is the mastermind of the crisis. Once the health sector is grounded, the will advance privatization as the only way out of the impasse. Then only the corrupt political class will benefit. The doctors and the health professionals will suffer retrenchment and harsh working environment. The poor masses will lose out because some political thieves will disappear with the nhis funds..... So the doctors and the health professionals should prevent themselves from being used as pawns....
poor analysis.

Health › Re: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by phantom(m): 4:21pm On Jul 12, 2014
prettyprettywow: You forgot that these are salaries of specialist Doctors(consultants) with over 12yrs of education and average of $300k in student loan (for US Drs) as compared to the salaries of an entry level nurse ( 4yrs degree and less than $50k student loanfor US graduates)). You fail to realize that in US, resident Drs earn an average of $45k, quite below the salary of the least hospital worker. So when they say Drs aern 200k, know that they are talking about consultants, and if you wanna compare with nurses, talk about nurse practitioners where some specialist nurse practitioners earn more than some specialist Drs e.g Anaesthetic nurses (CRNA) earn more than family physicians. Our Drs want to reap where they did not sow.

Besides, nobody is asking to earn same salary as Drs. That has never been the issue
after they pay back their student loans, do their salaries decrease?
Health › Re: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by phantom(m): 3:14pm On Jul 12, 2014
they deny it. they say they dont want to earn the same with doctors BUT they also ask we should be put together on one salary scale.
