1,IS IT JONATHAN'S WHOLE FAULT JUST FEW MONTHS IN OFFICE?
2, LOGICALLY,HOW DO YOU MEASURE 'FAULT' AND 'RESPONSIBILITY' WHEN TIME DURATION PLAYS A HUGE PART IN DETERMINING 'FAILURE'.
3.SHOULD HE JUST RESIGN THE GOVERNMENT TO THE NORTH?AND AND SUCCUMB TO THEIR TREAT. pls i want objective analysis,im waiting pls.
Don't be surprised if those people cursing and blabbing about confusion will not come to have this discussion with you because frankly speaking, they do not have any answer to the issues that you just raised.

OAM4J:
A good call from a proactive and good leader. Not like a call from someone telling us we have to live with the burden of bomb explosions.

Eko o ni baje!
I am sure you would have criticized the president if he was the one that gave the same exact speech like fashola. He is even actually talking about lagos and not really about the Christmas bombing so i don't see why people are hailing him. If you want to hear what a good leader should say at this time then please you all need to read the speech given by governor aregbesola of osun or ogun state. That is the kind of speech we need from real leaders, being vigilant is not enough. Let us wait until the bombs starts flying Lagos which i do not pray for then we will all know that it is more than being vigilant or passing information.

Good to see people now tackling the main issue, special reference to dmainboss, reference, executinal and lajide, jmain and beaf etc. We just like to follow band wagons and toll the line of what someone said by just agreeing without analyses. We might be educated but we do not have an independent mind to analyse, think and make personal judgement or interpretation concerning what is happening in our environment. We all should just try to be reasonable and focus on the root problems we have so that we can solve it instead of coming here to insult the president.

Ugwumba:
CyberG,
See what I warned about. Yes, you have not resorted to explicit tribal insults, but if you continue with this discussion you will very surely open fresh wounds. I am sure you were taught that not every argument is worth making, and if made, not every one is worth winning. You fall into the same trap as 'holocaust deniers' - the 1966 pogroms are not an intellectual and dispassionate debate, it is emotional, heartfelt, and for many Ibos of my generation, LIVED. Can you understand this, and, if not, can you be the bigger person and drop this?
Simple as that just like the Armenians, the Kurdistan's, Vietnamese, Chinese in the sino-japanese war and many other groups of people. Every one is free to decide which perspective they want to take concerning a sad event and i just don't know why people will just turn this into an intellectual debate. Live and let live, the igbos call it a genocide fine and you call it just a mascara, then fine too but just accept their opinion and move on. We the young generation never experienced war and that is the reason we can always blab and debate about it like we like here on Nairaland.

My parents can discuss so many things with me but they have never come to terms in discussing their experience in the civil war. With that and so many war movies and war stories that i have watched, heard and read about, so i can say having a war experience is never a good thing and we the youths should not just turn this things to just a mere intellectual debate. Let us learn to accept and respect the perspective of other people who actually feel the pain. People do not know what women go through during child labor because it is better experienced and felt by the woman who actually goes through it.

I suppose flog you self as you no fit catch the analysis wey i dey make since concerning the league. . angry

wendoworld:
@pharohs proposal: me i think say english don dey too much for this thing oo. cuz braking down the leagues into too many groups will make this thread boring! and i think without this thread many of us will not enjoy this FPL thingy.
I am having fun in this thread and that is why i dey try to introduce those changes to spice things up more and include more people to compete very well to the last day. No one is breaking down the league into different groups. We will still have our normal classic league for everyone, the FA cup and Carling just as we have now. We can only just change the composition of the FA cup and Carling cup to have the same number of teams. If we have more people still coming then we can introduce another qualifying head to head league to accommodate them.

Now to those things which you saw up there, i am saying that when this season is over, we will award those trophies to the top five teams in the classic fantasy league, Fa Cup and Carling Cup. Those things are trophies and not breaking down into different groups. We are just recognizing the top five teams as champions for those mentioned leagues and cups. Then when the next season starts, we can use that scale to pair the winners to get our super cup champions with the points of the first match day. There is no breaking down into those groups but just given them the title as champions and this is for the top five teams in the three groups that we presently have right now.

Shey i done make my self clear na or you need private coaching . . . . grin, give ya opinion if you get the drift cheesy I go still try to beat you for that FA cup someday if we go still meet along the way . . . angry angry angry
GEJ should be asking questions and demanding answers from the Security Chiefs. He put them in charge and it is their duty and responsibility to prevent things like this from happening or at least give reasonable explanations as to why it could not be prevented, in the event that it happens.
Thanks for being civil in your reply and here is my humble response.

I am very sure that he is asking questions and demanding answers but truly things have not moved positively in a fast pace. Surely he put them in charge but he was not the one that employed them in the first or controls what in reality their actions is or where their loyalty lies. I am sure these security agents are trying whatever that is possible to resolve this crisis but we should realize that this is a very complex issue.Just like you i really want to see this problem solved and these security agents should buckle their efforts up.
They should also tell him their plans for a more secure Nigeria, but I doubt if any of this is happening, why ? because they were appointed on friendship and relationship basis. GEJ is not a security expert , fine, then he should put qualified and experienced people who know what to do in such positions. So we don't end up with a case of the blind leading the blind.
Appointing someone based on friendship and relationship is not something that is peculiar to Nigeria alone, it happens everywhere in the world and that does not mean they are less competent or whatsoever. We are having a issue of a house that is divided against itself, the worst enemy is the enemy from within. We are having problems solving this issue because the whole security apparatus has been compromised and they have a hand in this crisis.

I am sure he has tried his best to put the best hands in those positions but Nigeria is a very complex society with divergent interest that flows in different directions. The most important is where the loyalty and interest of those who are suppose to protect us lies. This makes the issue of resolving this crisis to be more difficult. Let us all support the president and do whatever is possible that would force their hands to act decisively. Abusing the president or just talking from the comfort of our home or as opposition is not the same as being in that hot seat.

“We have hitherto exercised restraint in our public statements on these matters. However, we cannot continue to do so indefinitely, and are determined that in the year 2012, if these unprovoked attacks continue, and Christians remain unprotected by the security agencies, then we will have no choice but to defend our lives and property and take our own steps to ensure our safety and security”.
Concerning the first bold statement, they should have been voicing their hearts out and organising protest about these bombs and attacks before it has gottent to this stage. Off-course the attacks will definitely continue or has the crisis in Jos stopped?. Fighting the menace up north cannot be done solely by the security forces, we all have our own roles to play as citizens of the country.

The only way to defend our lives that has been long over due is to harm ourselves and fight back whenever we are attacked. It should have been a tit for tat right from day one, i am very sorry but the only way to end this crisis fast is to bomb the mosques up north and force them out of their hiding places. I trust the Isrealis with their targeted killing of the key brains behind those radical movement. The only problem is how these pastors are going to implement this defend our lives and assure the security of the Christians.

Okay, will be looking forward to your comment later and thanks for the effort.

Ibime:
@ Pharoh,

This aint a game for losers. Second place is the first loser. Y'all ninjas need to gear yourself up to win one of either leagues and forget about all this Copa Cabana and wooden spoon trophies you are proselytising about.
Lol but competing for one position is too small for this huge number of players, three to five is good. If we leave it this way then some of us might be trophy-less for ten years na grin. We can introduce prize money at the end of this season so that only the first placed team gets that for the sake of differentiation. I am ready to contribute or personally give out to the person who wins the league, and FA Cup.

@Ibime . . . . Don't you want to be like barca and win six tophies in one season if you check the proposal very well. cheesy

Please naija government not only that they deserve. You should also open bank account for them to cater for their daily expenses or include them in your salary row and provide them better accomodation and security.
That is commendable if they can do it because even making such announcement is not so ideal, they should just cater for every victim and try to improve the security.

Not a bad idea but it needs to be simple and straight to the point.
Not too many changes.
Thanks and i agree that it should be straight forward and simple, just proposing an idea that we can discuss and more ideas can come from anyone also. I think how the trophies have been shared is not too complicated IMO as it does not change the present structure but i will wait your comment on that if you have more.

chamotex:
But any new proposal needs to be effective from the end of next season though cos some would argue they should have known from the start and stuff.
Opps bros that is too far nah, i was hoping the changes would be made at the end of this season so that  we would not have the problem of composing the FA cup and Carling Cup with the right teams like the beginning of this year.  I really understand you but i think those who have been left out in the FA cup are now in the Carling cup.

So the new rule covers them as they will get promoted to the FA cup next season. You can see Carling cup teams ( Eziga, Rastaman vibes, Nerdherd, Linkin FC and Ijebu lions ) performing well in the main league. We can accommodate even those who have not participated this year that are very popular members and am sure that they should not be more than five.

We can reduce to 25 teams or even leave it at the present 30, but i just wish for a situation where 3-5 teams get promoted and 3-5 teams get relegated at the end of each season. Any new member that did not participate in the FA and Carling cup the previous season will start from the qualifying league and fight for promotion to the Carling cup.

Draft Proposal about the Fantasy League Trophies.

This is a proposal concerning the trophies to be won as we cannot go for years without competing for concrete reasons. For the rankings i have used the uefa coeffcient ranking to rate the league positions and put the trophies to be won as follows for the normal general fantasy league.

1st       England Premiership & World Club Champion
2nd          Spanish La-Liga Champion
3rd           German Bundesliiga Champion
4th           Italian Seria Champion
5th           French Ligue One Champion

Since we are all competing here and if five positions is too small to compete with then we can extend it to ten positions. The next top five league according to uefa is that of Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Holland and Greece.

Now to the Fa Cup Head to Head League, the trophies to be won will be as follows before the super 8 cup:

1st           England FA Cup
2nd          Spanish Copa Del Rey
3rd           German DFB Pokal
4th           Italian Coppa Italia
5th           French Coupe De France

The winner of the super 8 will be the Uefa Champions League winner.

Then to the Carling cup head to head league, we should have the following trophies as follows:

1st       England Carling Cup
2nd          Taca De Portugal
3rd           Russian Cup
4th           Ukrainian Cup
5th           KNVB Beker Cup

The winner of the super 8 will be the Europa League Champions.

European Super Cup is between Uefa Champions league winner and Europa league winner. We can decide this trophy by using the final league points of both winners at the end of the season or use the first match day points of the following season to judge that.

Then to the super cups of the top five leagues will be between the league champions versus the corresponding cup winners except when the same team already achieved a double. We can use the same scoring format of the European super cup to award the trophies too. So the pairing would be as follows:

England Super Cup    Premier League Champions Vs FA Cup Winner
Spanish Super Cup    La Liga Champions Vs Copa Del Rey Winner
German Super Cup    Bundesliiga Champion Vs DFK Pokal Winner
Italian Super Cup      Seria Champion Vs Copa Italian Winner
French Super Cup      Ligue 1 Champion Vs Coupe De France Winner

Finally the FA Cup is to be reduced to 20 teams, the Carling Cup to 20 teams and then we can create another head to head league for the others  cheesy.

So this means that only the top 15 teams will stay in next seasons FA cup while we will be promoting five teams from the carling cup to make the 20 teams in the FA cup next season. The 15 relegated teams and the next top five teams in the carling cup will form the new carling cup league and then the others go to a qualifying league.

This changes are done to promote competitiveness and give us a framework how the leagues are to be managed even when there is a change of management.

Please give your comments . . . .  cool
