Only Nigerians can fix nigeria and until we troop in to the street both home and abroad to do the right thing then it will be too late when the governmen finally steps in to make the changes. Tunisia was delivered by tunisians, same with egypt and other arab countries. If you need a soverign national confenrence then let everyone troop into the street and demand it. Cripple the economy, student, teachers, workers and everyone and see if we will not have a referendrum or conference but what do u have here than just blabbing our mouth on nairaland.
Politics › Re: Do You Advice Christians In The North To Attend Church On New Year? by Pharoh: 9:51am On Dec 26, 2011
^^^^

The same question i asked on the other thread and i was almost crucified for that, boko haram said they will throw bombs on Christmas day at churches so what was the point going to church on that particular day.

They will surely throw bombs on new year day and you will see people gathered together to be blown up by their bombs in churches and other places.

I think the usage of internet should be banned in Nigeria. That's only where Nigerians can make noise. If it's paining you that much then shutup and revolt
God bless you, the trend is just to insult the president and the next thing that follows is for everyone to toll the same direction as well.

Politics › Re: Lagos Targets Churches, Mosques In 2012 Tax Drive by Pharoh: 11:59pm On Dec 22, 2011
I would welcome property tax but going beyond that negates the principles of those who brought Christianity to us. I must say yeah the church has not contribute enough to the development of the country in relation to the money flowing within it. The members are to blame for that anyway but our idea of generating money within the church is totally different from how it is practiced in the western world.

There exist a church tax in Europe for the sole purpose of supporting the church and surprisingly in Germany the government collects the tithe to support the churches. The various government even give subsidies to church because primarily they the ones that run the cemetery and burial services for the nation. There is no where in the world that any government is generating money for itself from the church from my little research.

P.S There is a big difference how churches generate money in the western world and back home here. Personally i think from the situation on ground, churches should be de-registered as charity organisations and their account should be open, transparent and be audited from time to time with proper all year monitoring.
Politics › Re: Post Debate Poll: Should Fuel Subsidy Be Removed? by Pharoh: 5:33pm On Dec 22, 2011
I don't think a working refinery easily translates to  cheap fuel so the subsidy should go immediately.Tthe cost of keeping it until the refineries are built outweighs the benefits of any other strategy.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Nairaland Fantasy Premier League 2011/2012 by Pharoh: 9:33pm On Dec 21, 2011
Qualifying

The top 2,097,152 scorers in Gameweek 17 will enter the first round. If there are more than 2,097,152 qualifiers then there will be a random draw amongst the lowest scorers to see who qualifies.

How the cup works

Each qualifying team will be randomly drawn against another in the first round. The winner (the team with the highest Gameweek score minus any transfer points), will progress to the second round and another random draw, the losers are out! This process continues until the final round when the two remaining teams contest the cup final.

If a cup match is drawn, then the following tie-breaks will be applied until a winner is found:

Most goals scored in the Gameweek
Fewest goals conceded in the Gameweek
Virtual coin toss
Time to start managing your team and avoid unnecessary transfers . . . . grin

one thinh guyz, you can give the link of this thread to fellow Nlanders to come vote for you, instead of creating multiple id's
It defeats the purpose of of having a poster of the year who is a real joker and  evaluated by real jokers to merit the award. I strongly go against that strategy but let the majority carry the day as this is the common trend anyway.  cool

Not for a team that counter attacks like real madrid, though they can be aggressive in their tackling but they do not really close the space or press that much. With Villarreal down the drain, the sides that could hurt Madrid should be Barcelona, Bilbao and maybe Malorca.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Why Is Messi Better Than Ronaldo? by Pharoh: 3:20pm On Dec 16, 2011
Performed for club better than him especially in terms of trophies won but other than that there is nothing to point because both of them have been a failure outside their respective club efforts.

Politics › Re: The Story Behind The Asian Tigers (Nigeria Take Note) by Pharoh: 12:15pm On Dec 14, 2011
Nice topic, i would add to the other points that we need to focus on education that includes, science, technology, engineering, vocational training and management. We also need infrastructure to support our manufacturing effort and we need policies and laws to protect local players from negative outside influence.
We should start by targeting first other African countries before shipping our product to the west.

We need unity and stability because i don't see how we are going to progress with these bombings , tribal and religious divisions. Maybe what we need to do first is to hold a sovereign conference before we chart the way forward from here. I think we should focus on manufacturing, agriculture, technology development and services.

Where lies our comparative advantages?
