Pastor Ola:And what is obama doing with the saudi king or the former military president mubarak of egypt?. |
This is very good development. |
@Jonhpaul . . happy birthday to you and iniesta from the los blancos faithfuls. ddippset:It would be better if you behaved maturely as your fellow barca fans concerning ronaldo and the pichichi because you are just typing rubbish above there. Man take things easy ooo before you and dayokanu will scatter ground now because i obviously think he was just joking above there. Finally congratulations to barca fans in advance if they win the laliga tonight as we move on to next season. ![]() |
Are those apprentices in Aba and Onitsha not receiving informal education?. They trade and some of them later evolve into businessmen. How can you compare them with nomads and cattle rearing besides, majority of them finished high school but majority of the nomads haven't been to any formal school in their lives so they can't read and write?
Informal education is not the same as nomadic education, nomadic education is the same as what you get in the classroom but just that the classroom moves with you anywhere you go. Whatever business you do, i am very sure that you will be educated in the business language and other stuffs. Those nomadic students can sure read and write in Arabic with some education about cattle rearing business. We are talking here about education that leads to a certificate or diploma in the long run. Do they teach those apprentice social studies, science, mathematics, English and agriculture studies?. These kids ( almajiri, fishermen, apprentice ) should not be involved in such business but they should be in the normal classroom. Nomadic education is like giving those hawkers on Lagos highway two to five hours a day education. My point is they should not be involved in such business and be in normal classrooms during the day time. Let secondary school leavers be the people who should be involved in such activities. How can someone from the age of 7 or 8 be chasing cow until the end of his life without proper education?. |
You guys are right but we never knew which other clubs were bidding for him before going to milan and i think they won't buy him to just sit on the bench. I am hoping he gets to play more and not sit on the bench but i trust him to give it all and win a starting eleven spot. |
Awon aladura ( cele and kerubu) are fully in the house ooo, van der vart be very careful. ![]() |
AjanleKoko:I know so many respected coaches have criticized mourinho one time or the other and specifically to maybe this classico matches or during the champions league. But for johan, it is becoming too much of him and you need to read the comments people are giving about him in the sport world. Mourinho was in barca for five years and he left in good faith, but because of the matches he had against barca, hence we are seeing all this hatred. There are many bad coaches in the world but who is talking about them or condemning them. How many footballers in the world are condemning arsene wenger and his kids. How many coaches said anything bad about diego maradona during his coaching stint with Argentina. Right from the match against inter milan, this guy keeps on talking, even during this whole classico he has been talking and mourinho does not engage him anymore. He should simply mind his business and i really don't care if he was a legend or football great but he should respect himself. Mourinho plays negative football sometimes quite alright and not every madrid fan was in support of di stefanos comments. Yes he was right that madrid plays beautiful football but we never hear them give comments when madrid defeated valencia or sevilla with free flowing football. Is it only when things goes bad they will start talking, i am very sure that stefano will not make that comment if madrid was topping the table and we have defeated barca with the so called negative football. I have been following his comments all the time and this is the first time i am really replying him. He should respect himself really and stop trying to add more confusion or problems in the madrid camp. We have all moved on and so should he but i don't blame them because barca went through so he has mouth to say whatever he likes. I sincerely do not have any respect for him anymore and it just gets worst the more he talks. There are so many bad things so say about anyone and even to pep but what is the use of it. This is not about defending mourinho but for someone to face his business. There are other barca legends and former coaches but how many of them are talking about mourinho. Even when rickard was getting it wrong, how many people condemned him in the world, so this is my point really. |
I hope this fool stops talking about mourinho someday and go save one of his former club (ajax) and Holland his country that has not won anything in recent years. http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2011/05/09/2478213/real-madrids-jose-mourinho-hasnt-made-a-single-good-decision |
AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has said the club will increase their efforts to sign transfer targets Taye Taiwo from Marseille, and Santos playmaker Ganso. Both men have been strongly linked with the San Siro giants, who won their 18th Scudetto on Saturday night after a 0-0 draw at Roma. Galliani is already working to bolster the squad, and admits an interest in Taiwo, who has had a stellar season in Ligue 1. In respect of, Ganso, a move depends on how much Silvio Berlusconi is willing to spend, and Galliani told Sky Sport 24: "We will try to get him [Taiwo] even if he comes without an EU passport. "For Ganso, they are rich now in Brazil and so it's difficult for them to sell their players. We still have not made an offer." Meanwhile, reports in La Repubblica claim former Milan star Kaka sent his congratulations to Galliani via text message, in which he reportedly said: "We are the champions of Italy, compliments." Galliani said of the Brazilian: "The day I sold Kaka I cried. I would do anything for him." http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2011/05/08/2476930/ac-milans-adriano-galliani-confirms-interest-in-ganso-taye |

ogugua88:You are missing the point i and the original poster is having hence the need for this thread. Nairaland members are not under any obligation to behave responsibly here on this forum. It is like saying Nigerian politicians should be responsible and not loot the national cake or lecturers should not collect money to pass students. The way you lay your bed is the way you will lie on it and that applies to this forum. What this forum needs is a robust moderation and enforceable penalties for anyone that goes against the laid down comprehensive rules. Safe for the fact that some people will definitely leave when you start enforcing these rules, i think very strict rules are needed to make this place enjoyable. The whole forum looks like a disorganized african market place where everyone is free to do what they think suits them. Good moderation and everyone will start behaving responsibly but expecting them to behave when they know they will get away with their bad behavior is fruitless in my opinion. He needs inputs from concerned members if he really wants to sanitize this place. After all these, then the forum needs rapid changes and dynamism to grow with the trending changes in other sites. So this is my point which i think falls in line with the op and i hope you get it now. |
Their figures are very impressive ; An average of 7 students per school and 3 students per teacher. It should be enough to educate anyone. I don't even think that Prince Williams got this kind of attention in school. If the govt is funding nomadic education which can only be found in the North, what equivalent social programme do we have in the south?.
They have also for the fishing communities down south but if everything is right then it should hve included those apprentice working in aba or onitsha market. To me they should scrap this nomadic education because kids are suppose to be in school within their community and not following cows or fishing with their parents. |
Bawss1:I dey roll for floor self and the analysis is on point like someone very vast and experienced about the happening here in nairaland lol . ![]() |
^^ You are very right but we really need to put an end to this tribalism and fighting in nairaland as whole especially in the politics section. |
babaearly:The same females that will impose all these rules that they have been complaining about in this thread. Atreides:That is the truth and summary of your whole post but when you look at it in the general sense then males feel more pressure to excel education wise than females.
@mcnepow your statement is not a universal rule, therefore it is not a fact.as for educational pressure i face it and i think i will soon break from d pressure my parents ar puttin on me to get a 1st class.u ar also wrong dat a girl doesnt care about her grades cos i do.i set goals for the grades i want to get each semester.
The answer to your question lies in the conclusion of the poster above because what you just described is a function of your particular family and how they have modded you up. |
Congratulations but hope he gets snatched by a better top notched club going to Europe next season. |
That's true but you dey Finland then the blacks suppose get like association or group to discuss the changes in that country and the steps to take as from now on. I dey around that place too and we fit talk more outside here if you no mind sha, i go try great one internet group for Africans in Finland. |
^^ Hei mitä kuuluu ja missä sinä asut? ![]() This is terrible and it is high time the foreigners in that country put their house in order and start thinking about the future. |

“The vision of His Excellency (Babatunde Fashola) was the provision of quality education to the children of Lagos state.” The deputy governor of Lagos state, Sarah Sosan, made this statement last week while assessing the performance of the Ministry of Education over the past four years. True, Mr Fashola promised a lot to parents and students in the state at the start of his administration in 2007. At that time, the people of Lagos needed a lot of promises. Public schools in Lagos were in dire need of infrastructure development. Furniture, classrooms, toilets, water supply, laboratories and many more were in dilapidated states in some schools and non-existent in others. The performance of students in internal and external examinations was at its lowest with Lagos State performing poorly in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) exams. Classrooms were overpopulated, teachers were inadequate, and the morale of the average public school student was quite low. It was obvious that there was urgent need for massive restructuring and provision of infrastructure in public schools. Mrs Sosan, who has been at the helm of affairs in the education sector for the past four years presented the achievements of the ministry at a press briefing in Lagos last week. While some of the achievements are quite laudable, the extent of the reach of the reformations her administration has put in place is still questionable. Furniture and classrooms Mrs Sosan noted that a total of 2,786 classrooms had been constructed from 2007 till date. Similarly, 20 blocks of classrooms leading to additional 216 classrooms were constructed in the past year. “Classes are being renovated, laboratories are being provided, rehabilitation of schools has continued. We have continued to repair our furniture in the schools to ensure that no student sits on the floor,” she said. In 2010, Mr Fashola declared an emergency in the furniture situation in public schools and directed that furniture be distributed to all schools with a hope that no child in public schools would be without furniture by the end of 2010. However, complaints from parents at the last Parents’ Forum held for parents of students in public primary schools in Lagos reveals that the needs of the students is still far from being satisfied. Olumuyiwa Adesanya, whose child attends Methodist Primary School Elepe, Ikorodu had complaints. “There is congestion of students in the class,” he said. “There is only one school serving about 15 villages. There are no chairs, no teachers for the children. We have only six classrooms for over 1000 students.” Over population There were deliberate measures put in place to curb over-population in schools, Mrs Sosan noted. This had been a serious problem for students in Lagos as congestion of their classrooms adversely affects their learning and performance. A minimum of 65 percent pass for entrance into the model colleges was enforced and some schools were split into School 1 and 2, junior and senior secondary. “We still have a lot of pressing needs for schools establishment. In some schools right now, we have overpopulation in the classes and in most cases we can’t admit more students because we don’t have more classes,” she said. The students and their parents feel the brunt of this problem even more. Akeem Oladeinde, the secretary of the Parents’ Forum at Olodi-Apapa Senior Secondary School, Tolu School Complex, complained recently that students are congested in their classrooms. “The school has been neglected,” he said. “There are no good buildings, no toilet and there is congestion in the classrooms. The school has only one entrance and exit in case of any outbreak.” Students’ performance In March 2010, the National Association of Nigerian Students in higher institutions in Lagos State protested the poor performance of students sitting for the secondary certificate examinations. The protest was the students’ reaction to the result of the 2009 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results which were released by the National Examinations Council (NECO). The registrar of NECO, Promise Okpala, said that 4,223 out of 234,682 candidates, representing 1.8 percent, passed with five credits and above, including English and Mathematics. Mr Okpala added that 12,197 candidates, representing 5.2 per cent, passed with five credits and above, irrespective of subjects. Also the result of the June/July 2010 Secondary School Certificate examination conducted by NECO showed that 870,305 candidates who sat for the examinations that year failed to get a credit pass in English Language. That represented 79 percent of the 1,113,177 candidates who sat for the examination that year. One of the worst hit in the abysmal performance was Lagos State. Performance in the WAEC examinations for Lagos students has not been encouraging and has hit an all-time low in recent years. With the hope of improving this, Mrs Sosan noted that 507 graduate teachers were employed to coach SS3 students for the ongoing WAEC examinations. Also, the cut off mark for promotion into Senior Secondary classes was raised to 50 percent to ensure that only those who are competent to sit and pass external examinations are promoted. “A lot of efforts has been put in place to ensure performance is improved,” Mrs Sosan said. Laboratories and computer training Science and computer education was greatly neglected in public schools. However, obvious steps to correct the defect were made in the past four years by the current administration. “We established the first of its kind Educational Resource Centre and this is located in Ojodu,” Mrs Sosan said. “It has a 24-person capacity ICT Laboratory and the centre is also open to public use. We have continued to promote the teaching and learning of science education in our schools by providing laboratories in our schools. During the WAEC examinations, we provide the chemicals they need. 110 schools were provided with computer laboratories.” However, more still needs to be done as lots of schools are still lacking such equipment. Princess Sowemimo, whose daughter attends Community Secondary School, Old Workyard, Mushin, said in March at the last parents forum for public secondary schools. “The school is bad, the building is bad, the roof is falling apart, there is no laboratory apparatus. I’m tired, just come and see for yourself what we are talking about,” she said. Teacher training An obvious shortage and training deficit of teachers was observed in public schools in recent years. However, Mrs Sosan noted that the Teachers’ Establishment and Pensions Office (TEPO) has been able to address the problem to a large extent. “Through TEPO, we have been able to train and retrain our teachers and also have a good relationship with industrial unions. TEPO has trained 27,159 teachers. We also carried out the promotion exercise of 20,063 officers in our schools. We have continued to pursue the welfare of our teachers especially in rewarding handwork,” she said. It is hoped by most parents that the measures put in place to improve the standard of education in the state over the past four years would yield good returns. However, for those who still have needs in certain areas, their plea to the government is for urgent intervention for the sake of the future of their wards. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5695748-146/story.csp |

"Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, who was dismissed from the bench in the first leg and made an inappropriate statement at the post-match interview, has been suspended for the next five UEFA club competition matches for which he would otherwise be eligible. The suspension includes the one-match ban for the match following the coach's dismissal, which was served for the return leg in Barcelona on Tuesday. The fifth match is suspended for a probationary period of three years. Mourinho has also been fined €50,000." "Real Madrid CF believes this resolution still suffers from the same defects found at the start of the disciplinary case, which made it impossible for our coach to use his right to defend himself, since the exact statements for which the disciplinary case was opened are still unknown". He is just asking for this points to be resolved and they should back their judgment based on established rules and regulations. |
The quest for Europe is really showing in today's matches and some clubs need to fight the relegation battle with all they have right now. |
lalaboi:My predictions are solely based on squad selection without any knowledge of transfers made. |
octopus pharoh here with his predictions ![]() Tboggie to qualify Muzb to qualify as well Underachievers to qualify Kokomaster to likely qualify ( A close call because it is a classico match ). Kokomaster or tboggie to win this competition. ![]() |
It is not surprising that barca fans will never see anything good in mourinho just because they don't like him. He has nothing to prove anymore and he just needs to be successful in Spain and maybe germany to crown it all but how many coaches in the world has moved around like him and yet still successful. Riikard left Barcelona and that was the end of his career, even johan cruyf will be very scared to coach any team aside Ajax and Barcelona. The whole world is waiting for pep to repeat his success with Barcelona else where even with another club in the same la liga. Simple giving of credit to whom it is due and we are hearing excuses like that Porto team has been together for a long time and he was successful with inter because of the huge investment. A logic that has no proof and can be quickly thrown away into the lagoon. Afterall man city has been spending huge sums of money and many clubs do have a stable squad but no success. He is a good coach and got his success for that same reason period, any one suggesting anything else should be accused of bad belle. I would not call him the best but attributing his success to the reasons stated above is very much in bad taste. How many coaches in the world has been successful with two clubs or in two leagues. I guess if pep leaves barca and fails elsewhere we will all conclude that he is not a good coach aside coaching a good team like barca?. I guess riikard is not a good coach as well because in the past three years, he has been silent after being disgraced out of turkey. Anyway looking forward to champions league final and hope la liga prevails and dominates Europe for a while. |
