AjanleKoko: I think that was Rosell's first public comment on the issue. And Madrid's bosses have said quite a lot in comparison. Their comments were quite damning, and were obviously targeted at soiling Barca's reputation. As the head of the organization, he needed to make a strong comment. No one is denying him the right to make a strong or passing comment about the whole issue but the point I and mejai has been hammering is the timing of that comment. The other party has moved on and relegated some of the issues to the background, even mourinho will hear the judgement to his appeal next month. The Spanish nation team played some friendly matches and everything has gone back to normal with Valdez even manning the goal post. Why is the Barcelona president taking us back again and raising already settled dust seeing that we will not meet on the pitch again until the start of next season. |

Business › Dr. Okonjo-Iweala Fails To Show Up For Screening by Pharoh(op): 5:59pm On Jun 18, 2011 |
Cabinet: Okonjo-Iweala snubs President
President Goodluck Jonathan’s desire to have the current Managing Director of the World Bank, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, return as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance in the cabinet being reconstituted may have failed as she has not shown up for screening as promised. Okonjo-Iweala, it was reported met with President Jonathan on Thursday at the Plaza Hotel in New York for over an hour before the latter returned to the country after a high level meeting of the United Nations (UN) on HIV/AIDS.
It was gathered that Dr. Okonjo-Iweala accepted the presidential offer but has failed to appear before the screening panel. It is not however known if the president will go ahead to forward her name to the National Assembly for clearance without any input by the security agencies. Sources told Saturday Mirror that the president had hoped to anchor his economic drive on the World Bank’s Managing Director.
A source who spoke with Dr. Okonjo-Iweala told our reporter that the former minister might not take up the national assignment because she is not convinced of the present government’s determination to afford her the needed support to embark on drastic restructuring plans. “Dr. Okonjo-Iweala succeeded because of the support she got from former President Obasanjo. She had insisted that for every successful minister, there is always a determined and strong willed President.” Despite Dr. Okonjo- Iweala absence, more than 40 ministerial nominees have been listed to be sent to the State Security Service (SSS) for screening for possible confirmation as ministers including former Central Bank governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, who may head the finance ministry in the absence of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala. While over half of the nominees as at last night have successfully undergone the mandatory SSS grilling, others will take their turns early next week. A security source told Saturday Mirror that the screening is done slowly and patiently to ensure that the best candidates with good records are recommended to the presidency. “Nigerians cannot be left in the hand of criminals again. We will ensure that all that needs to be investigated about them are done thoroughly,” the source said. However, the Senate yesterday said that there was no need for any rush in the submission of the ministerial lists to the National Assembly for consideration as it is still on recess and the security agencies are not done with their job.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the former Senate spokesperson, Ayogu Eze, who though insisted that he was not competent to comment on the development as he is no longer the Senate’s spokesperson, warned against indulging in conjectures. When asked if the Senate will cut short its recess to attend to the nominees list, he said “for now, the executive has not asked us, when they are ready, then we will think of considering their request, but they have not approached the Senate.” Meanwhile, as the name of ministerial nominees are being made public, most state governors are getting agitated that President Jonathan has completely sidetracked most of their nominees for technocrats, former cabinet members and entirely new entrants. For instance, in Enugu against the hope that former Aviation Minister, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze would return to the new cabinet, the name of Prof Bath Nnaji appeared. In Abia State, Okonjo- Iweala is being penciled down against Onyema Ugochukwu. http://nationalmirroronline.net/news/14465.html |

The solution na to sign pre-nup wey fit be like 30 years or more, this women dey come up with silly excuses everyday. Sagamite: If she like, make she no support. She can go and jump in the river. True talk but i really wish there is a particular thread to dissect all these their silly excuses. Example take the issue of caring for a child which is the duty of both parents ( giving up career or not). Providing the food to feed the child constitutes part of caring or how does the woman intend to prove that she solely cared for the child and would need compensation for that?. |

@Upendo 98
I see and well i think the purpose of this thread is to seek for useful advice or solutions and for others to learn one or two things if they face similar or some other kind of dicey situations. Most African or Nigerian man will not accept such arrangements, living apart even if they can sometimes accept the reality of the wife having more income than them.
There is a reason why we have a culture that defines the way we should live our life and they really help a lot in solving our problems. The issue we have today is that, we are embracing the western life style at a rapid and even trying to dump our culture at a more speedy rate. Before anybody term me to be primitive like the typical African man. I should say we live in the modern times and am in support of both the woman and man doing whatever they want.
To pursue your career, to cheat, to marry more than one wife, to have one or gazillion of kids but we sure do need somethings in all these when it comes to marriage. They are understanding, sacrifice, compromise, etc and where these factors cannot be applied to solve our issues then we should talk any actions we deem fit and live with the consequences. The man or the woman should do what feels right in his or her mind and take whatever comes out of it at the end of the day. |

The woman can go if she wants to and therein after face the consequences while the man can also stick to whatever decision he likes and faces the consequences likewise. On the other hand they can both work something out which satisfies both parties. It is a very big shame that they are both christians though and they cannot resolve this in a Godly manner and have even gone to the extent of sleeping on different beds.
@Poster . . . Since they are Christians, please tell the wife to read and meditate on this bible passages,
Ecclesiastes 1, and 1 john 2, 17.

KnowAll: If we are having Ecowas let us have proper Ecowas with all the benefits. I can go to france and buy my cement and nobody would hold me or charge me descriminately. If cement is N700 Naira in Cotonu, Nigerians should be allowed to go to that country and purchase it for that price without attarcting any tax or a minimal tax let say N50 Naira for every bag bought thereby costing the importer N750.00 FROM Cotonou.
This would force Dangote and other oligarchs to drop their prices saving everyone these unecessary hassle of over-inflated prices. Ecowas is different from the EU because our level of integration is not the same, you should look into the level we are presently. I don't think we have a common customs union right now, only free movement of people and some little stuffs. We are actually rushing things and not doing it in the right stage or direction and also some weaker countries should join later while the stronger countries like Ghana and Nigeria should forge ahead and create the needed rules. |
