Strata1716: I really don’t think it’s possible not to exceed the tax free amount because 20 hours will most likely give you £800 p/m and I don’t think there’s any job that will pay you just £300 so you can remain tax free. 800x12= 9,600 Earning like 900-1k monthly will give you about 12k? |

Ladasit: The truth is in most cases it doesn't matter in so far as you don't do it too much, most people here know this but they are scared to tell you the truth.
I can tell you for a fact, that during my masters I worked more than 20 hours a couple of times and still got my post work visa.
The major thing is don't do it too much, don't fail any of your courses, in fact don't do anything that will make them want to investigate your case.
Remember always use your head!! Jedon: To my ancestors in the house,
Please I need your advice l, I know as a student working more than 20 hours is not allowed except during break. I am hustling and i need money, if I work more than 20 hours for some few weeks will I get into any trouble?
Also will I have problems getting my post work graduate visa later on?
Someone told me, in so far as I don't do more than 80 hours a month there is no problem. Is this true?
Please I need you guys experienced wisdom.
Guide me on the way🙏 Yes it's very possible to work more than 20hrs in a week but it's a 50/50 thing. The VO might not notice it if u do it with sense ( don't exceed the £12k plus tax free) once the VO discover you work more than the tax free amount, then there might be a thorough check on your 20hrs compliance. Please note that it's 50/50 thing and I won't encourage you to do it |

Sign up with the link below. https://www.loqbox.com/en_gb/loqbox-invite?referral_code=GJOHQHRURH&referral_channel=linkYou must be careful not to upgrade your membership because doing so will attract £2.5 per wk |

mizGene: I started with provisional, forgot to update to full until it was 2 weeks to renewal. My quoted price went down though a few things also changed like my address and a slight reduction in mileage. But like ppl have said, the quotes I got from other providers were much higher than the ones I got last year when applying with provisional. What I noticed about the price is that if you've had your provisional more than 1yr and you just had you full licence, the the price of the provisional licence will be cheaper than the full licence. If you wait till more than 6months before updating your full licence, then the price could reduce. (I might not be totally right) |

Zahra29: This is not correct. See below copied from an official gov website.
When will it start? From April 2024, working parents of two-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours of free childcare.
From September 2024, 15 hours of free childcare will be extended to all children from the age of nine months.
From September 2025, working parents of children under the age of five will be entitled to 30 hours free childcare per week.
This staggered approach will give childcare providers time to prepare for the changes, ensuring there are enough providers ready to meet demand. It's been in existence before now. It's even pasted on most buses around Coventry and westmidlands. This was confirmed by the council in charge of admission. You can even choose a private nursery and and government will pay the school |

Tinyemeka: Wehdone sir and welcome back.
I'm running mad here.
I've spent 4 months in the country and my TransUnion credit score is still in the mid-500's.
My records are in the electoral register, have got 3 bank accounts that I run transactions through frequently.
My wife landed long before me and I recently got added to the tenancy agreement. I've tried to apply for the AmEx credit card advertised by @Solumtoya and my request got declined (I'm sure because of my low credit score). I'm using a pay-as-you go mobile line (not contract).
What else can I do to boost my credit score? Or at least how can I secure a credit card?
An aside, I tried to sign-up for Rebtel to be able to call home cheaply, but couldn't because they said they don't support EE lines. Please do you know any other network that I could sign on a contract with my low score?
Appreciate all your assistance and contributions on this thread. 🙌 Open loqbox account with my referral link below and start saving about £20 monthly for 6 months. This will serve as loan which will give you credit profile and increase your credit score https://www.loqbox.com/en_gb/loqbox-invite?referral_code=GJOHQHRURH&referral_channel=link |

semmyk: By fixed and variable rates, one assume you're referring to mortgage rate. In a nutshell, the common denominator is the Bank of England base rate For variable, your mortgage repayment varies (fluctuates) according to the BoE base rate. When the rate increases, your mortgage rate and consequentially, you repayment amount increases. Vice versa, when BoE base rate decreases. Fixed rate on the other hand doesn't fluctuates as BoE base. You pay a fixed (predetermined) amount for the contractual period: 2yrs, 3yrs, 5yrs, 7 yrs, 10 yrs. Getting the right fixed rate (percentage, timing) comes with skills and/or deep research. Thank you for your response. What is the best fixed rate one should look out for |

Does the 25% deposit applicable to first time buyer using Lisa? Ticha: That's a shame. I asked in my circles but most are investors therefore always have a 25% deposit or more plus already have a UK footprint or a JV partner that's British. Nov is round the corner. Na to ramp up savings and it seems the property market is stabilising in terms of prices. I'm seeing price reductions everywhere and properties sitting on the market for longer. |
