Christianity Etc › Re: Why I Stopped Closing My Eyes During Prayers. by phemmyfour: 2:49pm On Jan 29, 2023
Timagex:
A long time ago, when I was still a very curious kid, i asked mum why people close eyes during prayers. She told me that, during prayers, an angel is always on patrol and the angel pokes the eyes of people who dare open their eyes!!! shocked shocked. I was greatly afraid. This created a sense of fear in me and I always close my eyes tightly during any form of prayer. I started suspecting all those prayer warriors who walk around during prayers maybe they were angels. grin

One day, I needed to pay a certain fee, so, I came all the way from children church to adult church. There was an intense prayer session going on. I became afraid as there was no way to go in with my eyes closed. I peered and looked (maybe I will see the angel and dodge him) but, I didn't see anything. I rushed in, located my mum and she opened her purse to give me the money. She also asked me a few questions. She did all these with her eyes wide opened!! shocked Lo and behold, nothing happened to her eyes and my eyes. grin I was even more surprised when I saw the pastor with his eyes wide open while praying and leading prayers!!! shocked shocked. Abomination!! I waited in vain for the angel to strike, nothing happened. huh I was so disappointed and confused.

I started opening my eyes during prayers to see what will happen. Nothing. The problem now was, there was no way to tell mummy of my discovery without telling her that I now open my eyes during prayers. My position was, I was either deceived or the angel forgot our church. grin grin

Over 20 years ago and still smile any time I remember. cool cool. I'm not a consistent church goer these days tho....

Happy Sunday beautiful people. May God shine his light unto us. smiley
Olodo
It's not mandatory to close your eyes, it's only necessary to help your mind from going astray due to unnecessary distraction.

If you ve trained and discipline yourself to that level, you can always pray while your eyes are opened.

2 Corinthians 9:6
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

From the above quotation, all I have is old money. So is it a Sin if I give it as an offering??
No, as at when it's giving...they were legal tender. It becomes a sin when they are no longer legal tender

Whettodo:
I have been working with a factory for 5 months now,
I want to change to a dispatch rider's job there's not much if a difference in the pay..

Factory pays 34k dispatch rider pays 40k salary
10k for bike maintenance, fuel and data..

The factory job comes with the regular stress of the job at times stress is crazy most times it's normal

I don't have prior experience with a motorcycle.
I deliver foods customer's can cancel and i pay for the food from my salary

Restaurant is new max of five deliveries in a day, have to be online for at least 15 hours a day..

At times there might be no orders in a day sit around
all day or stay at home get ur order pick it up and deliver... You still get paid if you have no orders
Get paid 25k two times a month

Should I stay with my factory job or become a dispatch rider for jumia or an ordinary delivery company

Ordinary company means more work but I'm cool with that..
Stay with factory work if you want to live long

Fashion › Re: Please, Is This Outfit I Got For My Birthday Too Short To Be Worn Outside? Pics by phemmyfour: 8:12pm On Jan 25, 2023
fadilaMaikiriki:
Hello all!

I got this outfit for my birthday. I wanted to wear it that day. I just wanted to wear something different that day, so I got this brown leather outfit. Although, I tried the outfit on before I purchased it, but when I went out with it later that night, I was thinking it's too short. I didn't know it was going to be this short. I will go to the outlet where I got it later today or tomorrow. I would want to exchange it with another much longer outfit.

What do you think of the outfit? Isn't it too short to be worn outside? As a lady, can you comfortably wear this outside without feeling awkward in it? I want to know your opinions and what you think. And as a man, what comes to your mind when you see a lady putting this on and she walks pass you. What would you think of such a lady?

Please, I would like to know your opinions on this.

Thanks.

Attached below is a picture of the outfit;
As a man , you look like a cheap slut.

As a woman, you knew it was wrong. Yet you bought it.

Question: How long should a lady wait before asking the man she is in a relationship with for money?

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Do You Have A Hustle Story? by phemmyfour: 1:55pm On Jan 25, 2023
Rubyjade:
My first salary was 50k as a customer service rep.

I took the job hoping that I could save some money for my masters or wait till I get a job with my dream company.

Three months into starting work,

Someone from head office mentioned a coperative program where you could save money.

So I decided to remove 20k from my salary for saving every month and signed a direct debit and no access to the account in the first three months.

Every other month I worked to get additional bonuses to urgumemt my new lifestyle.

As a squatter in my parents house, i still had to pay bills like DStv & Nepa bills which was about 7k. (5k Nepa and 2k Dstv).

And then when salary increased to 70k, i started doing Ajo of 20k again.

Some of the things that helped me was the staff bus and free airtime. This meant I spent close to nothing on transport while my office was only #200 to and fro work for days were bus was not availabe.

At the end of two years, I had accumulated about 450k plus interest in dividend which amounted to about 50k.

I took that 50k and bought a masters form in Unilag and got an admission.

I had planned to use the remaining money to fund my school fees but my shift job wouldn't allow me attend school full time, so I deffered.

At the end of my first four years I had bought two brand new laptops twice, two televisions, a land in Sango Ota and one naija used car that I used to learn how to drive.

All these on a salary of 50k - 70k, all things been equal.

So it baffles me, when you say that you don't have money to save because you are only lying to your self and not me.

To build a culture of saving, You have to be

👉 Intentional: This is identifying you have to take steps to making yourself disciplined.

That is why you have apps like Microvestng available on your play store and iOS store to help you when you sign up to get started just like i did with the cooperative.

👉 Take advantage of direct debit or automated savings. Our automated savings feature allows you to directly debit my account just like I did with the cooperative.

👉 Take advantage of returns; After my cooperative in the cooperative, I was paid returns in December and felt like a king 👑 and with apps like Microvest you earn on your money while saving. Yes, you can get up to 20% P.A.

This is why I love what we do with Microvest.

P.S Do you have your hustle story, let me here in the comment section 👇
Not everyone is fortunate to have some factors that worked for you like:

Living in your parent's house

Enjoying free airtime and transport

Cheap tfare from house to work

So , don't critize others cos what works for you might not work for them

Does Mr A still have a higher chance of getting employed than Mr B?

kennybabs1980:
My younger brother (half brother) and his wife believes so much in online investments. I called him and advised him seriously against such phantom businesses last year July but he didn't take my advise. His wife even insulted me at a time because of the advise.

At that time he was into a particular one called Kala. He collected money from people to the tune of N9.6million in the name of trying to help them invest in Kala. The investment went under and he is now using family members to pressurize me to assist him especially to secure a loan from a particular coop society I belong to so that he can pay off four of the people he help to invest who are seriously troubling his life with police and thugs.

I am not willing to do this under any condition. I have told him to sell off our late dad's landed property if he can get a buyer but people are offering peanuts and two of our sisters (his own full sibs) are insisting on getting their own share immediately it is sold, one even said she didn't send him on online investment. If he can get buyer for the property, I can help talk to our other siblings but these two, no way!

How can I help this stobborn brother without hurting myself?
The situation is hopeless, you LL get hurt standing for him in your cooperative. Allow him to learn from this foolish experience
