EducationCovenant University Student Expelled For Watching Pornography by Phems(op): 8:45pm On Feb 28, 2013
A former student of Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State has dragged the institution to court challenging his expulsion from institution for watching pornographic'material and listening to'secular music on his laptop.

The student, Vwamhi Longji'Felix, who was a 400-Level
student in the school's Communications Technology
department, stated that his parents had spent not less than N10 million on his school fees and other expenses. Felix was made to face theschool’s disciplinary committee and subsequently expelled on the 23rd of November, 2012. Segun Fatoki, who represented Felix claimed his client was not given a fair hearing before he
was expelled and the act contravened Section 44 of Chapter 4 of the institution’s student handbook.

However, in a counter-affidavit from the defendant, the school stated that students are not
allowed to publicly display or be in possession of
pornographic films or photographs, exploring or
viewing pornographic websites on the internet. The counter-affidavit went on to state that instructions in the school handbook is clearly again the possession of unholy films and home video or circular music tapes, either stored or directly in the computer or listen through the use of computer radio or any other electronic device when on campus during an academic
session.

The presiding judge, Justice Mobolaji Ojo of Ogun State High Court reportedly said, “A youth must live like a youth and an adolescent must live like an adolescent. If all of the traits of a youth are not allowed to be exhibited at the right time, it would be done at the wrong time.”

The case was later adjourned to March 23, 2013 to be revisited.

SportsJonathan Writes Eagles As Yobo pledges Successful Competition. by Phems(op):
Nigeria will play Zambia on Friday at the ongoing AFCON
games. Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo, said that a letter written by President Goodluck Jonathan will ginger the team to play spiritedly at the ongoing 2013 African Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, along with Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Soni Yusuf; President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari; and other sport officials, delivered a letter to the team on Monday evening. Yobo said the letter will serve as a booster to the team’s morale and will ignite them to do well at the games.

The Eagles skipper, in the company of all the 23 members of the squad and technical crew, said he is moved that despite the busy schedule that the President has, he watches the Eagles play. “I will like to, on behalf of my mates, assure Mr. President, that we will not let him down. All we need is for him to continue to say his fatherly prayers for us all and we shall surely deliver”, he said.

The letter which was personally signed by President Jonathan read in part: “The Africa Cup of Nations has always been an exciting and important sports event for us in Nigeria and other African countries. However, this edition of 2013 even holds a greater significance for us as a nation.

Next year 2014, our dear country will be one hundred years old. “As we look back and celebrate our achievements as a strong, united nation, we cannot understate the role that sports, especially football played in our national life. Football remains one enduring unifying factor in our country which transcends our diversity.

“A successful outing at the Africa Cup of Nations will offer a great opportunity to further inspire pride, faith and hope in a re-energised new Nigeria in the course of our centennial celebrations,” the president said in the statement. The Eagles now have one point after drawing with Burkina Faso as they chase the AFCON title which Nigeria last won in 1994.

SportsRe: Nigeria's Draw Against Burkina-Faso, Who Do You Blame? by Phems(m): 10:25am On Jan 22, 2013
Nigeria is not the first to draw, even the defending champion; Zambia drew against Ethiopia, same goes for other teams who had played so far in this tournament except Mali.

I think this draw will make them prepare better for greater match ahead as the Super Eagles are fond of relaxing their efforts after victory.

I blame no one, Uche's missed chance, though painful, is normal. Yobo needs to do better or be replaced and Mikel should not be discouraged, those attempts on goal are per-requisite for scoring. Keshi has more work to do, they need to play more as a team.

One student thought for a second, and then asked for permission to reply. Curious to hear this bold student's response, the professor granted it, and the student stood up and asked the following questions of his classmates:

"Has anyone in this class heard our professor's brain?"
Silence.

"Has anyone in this class touched our professor's brain?"
Absolute silence.

"Has anyone in this class seen our professor's brain?"
When nobody in the class dared to speak, the student concluded, "Then, according to our professor's logic, it must be true that our professor has no brain!"

...The whole class applauded the student...

PoliticsBoko Haram Wants All Christians To Convert To Islam by Phems(op): 1:44pm On Jun 18, 2012
We want all Christians to convert to Islam – Boko Haram

The Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnati Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the bombing of three churches that claimed about 50 lives and scores injured in the northern cities of Zaria and Kaduna on Sunday.
The sect spokesperson, Abu Qaqa in a statement said the multiple attacks was a reprisal of Christians’ past killings of Muslims and vandalism of Mosques in Zonkwa, Yelwan Shendam, Tafawa Balewa, where they said Mosques were turned into brothels and drinking joints, while Christians continue to carry on with impunity and government support.
The however affirmed that for peace to reign, Christians must all convert to Islam.
The statement reads in part: “Today (Sunday) Almighty Allah has given us victory against Christian Churches in Kaduna and Zaria which led to the deaths of many Christians and security operatives.”
The statement also claimed that Almighty Allah has tasked all Muslims in Quran chapter 9 v 29 to launch attack against Jews and Christians who refused to believe in him, his messenger, Prophet Mohammed.
The radical sect also affirmed that attacks against Christian children and women would continue, since security personnel now attack their women and children.

EducationJonathan Asks Senate To Approve Renaming Of UNILAG, Others by Phems(op): 1:31pm On Jun 06, 2012
Jonathan asks Senate to approve renaming of UNILAG, others

President Goodluck Jonathan has sent a letter to the Senate, asking it to approve the renaming of the University of Lagos.

Jonathan’s letter conveying the request was read on the floor of the Senate at the commencement of plenary by Senate President, David Mark.

In the letter, Jonathan asked the Senate to approve the renaming of the Federal University of Technology Umudike to Michael Okpara University, Umudike; Federal Univeristy of Technology, Yola to Modibbo Adamawa University and University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University, Lagos.

The president’s request comes on the heels of public disapproval and protests over his renaming of UNILAG on May 29, 2012.

UNILAG students reacted to the renaming by embarking on three days of street protests.

The students have also sued Jonathan over the name change while the alumni association of the institution has declared the renaming as unacceptable.

A number of prominent Nigerians have also said the renaming of UNILAG was a wrong decision that should not be allowed to stand.

However, the family of the late Moshood Abiola has welcomed the decision and dismissed the public outcry as unwarranted.

Jokes EtcAN ETHICAL DILEMMA - What Would You Do? by Phems(op): 9:41am On May 28, 2012
AN ETHICAL DILEMMA - What Would You Do?

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect man (or) woman you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first; or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.

However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again.

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. I love this, I may actually use it sometime for an interview situation.

WHAT DID HE SAY?

He simply answered: ""I would give the car keys to my old friend, and let him take the sicked old lady to the hospital.
I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams.""

Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."
Jokes EtcHow I Passed My Wedding Test by Phems(op): 4:53pm On May 25, 2012
HOW I PASSED MY WEDDING TEST

I was a very happy man. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married.
There was only one little thing bothering me…It was her beautiful younger sister. My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was bra-less.

She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a nice view. It had to be deliberate. Because she never did it when she was near anyone else. One day her ‘little’ sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn’t overcome. She told me that she wanted me just once before I got married and committed my life to her sister.

Well, I was in total shock, and couldn’t say a word. She said, ‘I’m going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me.’I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go up the stairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door. I opened the door, and headed straight towards my car. Lo and behold,my entire future family was standing outside, all clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, ‘We are very happy that you have passed our little test.

We couldn’t ask for a better man for our daughter. Welcome to the family. The moral of this story is:

Always keep your condoms in your car, because I was on my way to fetch them when I passed the test
Jokes EtcWise Ibo Man by Phems(op): 4:52pm On May 25, 2012
A young Ibo borrow $5,000 from a Bank in US.

The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of collateral for the loan, so the Ibo man handed over the keys to a new brand BMW 6 series.

The bank manager and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Ibo man, for using an $80,000 BMW as collateral against a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the BMW into the bank’s underground garage and parked it there.

Two weeks later, the Ibo man returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest, which came to $15.41.

The bank officers said: What puzzles us is, “Why would you bother to borrow $5,000?”

The Ibo man replied: “Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks, pay only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?”

The bank employees watched as he pulled out of the garage, windows down, sunroof open and Oliver de Coque music blasting from his car.
