Ade3131: Just to correct you sir, I'm not a northerner.
Back to the topic of discuss. If you cannot manage 13% derivative judiciously, how on earth will your governors manage quadruple of it?
It's not always about quantity, you need quality administrator managing the affairs of your state. Akwa Ibom remains the pace setter state in this country. Just one visionary leader and boom! Things will begin to change for good. I never said you are a Northerner, it even makes it worse if you are not a Northerner! Have you asked yourself how well Nigeria used the 87 percent of our resources? You talk as if Nigeria has had visionary leaders in abundance. The issue is NOT if it was well used, the issue is about what is RIGHTFULLY OURS. What stops Nigeria from changing the law for derivation to go directly to the LGAs? We want at least 50 percent, that is what others got and it is unjust to change the regulations when it was our turn. It just tells me you Nigerians are ethnic and religious BIGOTS |

Logan23: There is no way any Anioma clan will be discussing about being absorbed by binis, pls this is a stupid talk, delete it.
Ijaws are sparsely populated in nigeria. Even Bayelsa which represent the largest ijaw block numbers 1.6 million and Hundreds of thousands of them are Isoko and urhobo communities. So if ijaw is less than 2 million in nigeria, how can they absorb Rivers state igbos who are more than 4 million?
Ikwerre owns Porthacourt city, This isn't being argued anywhere Ikwerre don't own Port Harcourt. They don't feature anywhere in the history of Port Harcourt. Their claim to Port Harcourt was made possible by Ijaw people. The treaty on Port Harcourt with Britain was between Ijaw people and Britain. Ijaw people also recieved more compensation than the Ikwerre. The largest Ijaw clan is in Rivers. The thing with you Igbo fools is that you talk down Ijaw population thinking it will benefit you, when it matters it is the North or Yoruba your greed, shortsighted attitude and foolishness will benefit. Close to half of the LGAs in Rivers state are Ijaw. |

Ebitimi44: I'm not talking about Biafra, I don't want to be part of Biafra, but I want Igbos as friends and Allies of the Ijaw Nation, I would have loved Niger Delta Republic but if you exclude Igbos from Niger Delta then the map is crazy, Akwa/Cross is closer to the Igbos than they can ever be to the rest of the Niger Delta, that's my concern, If Akwa/Cross is in Niger Delta Republic, Igbo influences in the republic will be massive, they have same agenda with Igbos. Ijaw nation is large enough to be on her own. Should Nigeria divide that remains the most preferred option for us. There would be nothing "crazy" about the map. Ijawland covers much of the coast from Arogbo in Ondo to Andoni in Akwa Ibom and Rivers. |

Ebitimi44: From the looks of things, we Ijaws had been the first tribe to officially reject Nigeria, I think amongst the three major tribes, the Igbos had been fair enough.
Igbos Eastern Region Cited the Refinery in PH, a city that would have served all most tribes of Niger Delta, Igbos had been in the forefront of Nigeria independence, so it could have been fair that Capital of Eastern region be in Enugu or Igboland, all the three major tribes had their regions capital in their major cities so why do we expect that the capital of the East will not be in Igboland...
Most people think it is the destiny of the Ijaws to see the Igbos as rivals, well I may not see them as brothers but they are our good neighbours, if Igbos wanted they could have used our oil as bargaining chip during the war but they did not go that part, from the look of things, Igbos listen more than the three major tribes, within the whole declaration, Adakar borrow lived when Igbos was in charge but few moments of romance with non eastern tribes and he disappeared, even our oil wells are not hijacked by the Igbos.
The Bayelsa where I live, there are more Igbos in Lagos than in Bayelsa, so let's bare our mind, what is our beef with the Igbos, if Nigeria divides, Biafra will also divide and Niger Delta will most likely also divide so at the end we will be left with our old neighbours the Igbos as tribal neighbours so what's our real beef with the Igbos. I doubt you are Ijaw! If you are you would know that our fathers like Harold Dappa Biriye ( from Bonny in Rivers state) and Melford Okilo ( from Ogbia in Bayelsa state) were at the forefront in the battle to end Igbo political and economic domination in the now defunct eastern region. They tried through political means but it did not work. That was what motivated Boro to declare independence when an Igbo was head of state and another Igbo was governor of the now defunct eastern region. The Igbo negotiated with Ijaw oil assets. They had a deal with France on that. It is no coincidence all of their major backers had strong French ties. Ivory coast, Gabon, Haiti etc. The primary reason Ojukwu declared Biafra was because he lost control of Ijaw oil assets. He believed he could regain those assets for the Igbo through a war. |

Ade3131: Enough of all these curse words I beg. What have they used the so to say 'little' allocation they get for?
They gave them NDDC and we know what happened to that. Yes, North is draining the country without contributing much but at least we've all seen that allot can still be achieved with the little they get as Akwa Ibom has shown.
PH used to have one of the worst airports in Nigeria. Let's also point the accusing fingers at their leaders. We never asked for 13 percent! We asked for the same derivation principles you enjoyed before 1970. Why is that too hard? NDDC that is still controlled by your national assembly. NDDC that still has board members from the South west and North. |

authority2006: Still the same affliction. No way to twist it. 13% derivation for the Niger Delta states only is almost equivalent to what all the states of the federation are sharing as allocation every month. 20 years multiply by 12 months is a lot of waste of resources ...and 70 years of Nigeria is what? A country that has no functional refinery shouldn't be talking about how best resources should be managed. Your states don't suffer the environmental consequences so you don't deserve even 1 cent! The impact of good leadership is felt more after the tenure of the leader and that is called legacy, but I cant remember any from you apart from accepting glaring defeat that have saved you open probe and sanctions as a result of your betrayal of the trust given to you by the Nugerian masses as one who truly once had no shoes and expect to be in reality with the suffering of the poor masses.
If you have fixed Nigeria, we shouldn't be suffering today as a result of crash of crude oil prices in the international market.
For instance, the dividend of democracy and legacy of infrastructure assets left behind by Sullivan the former Governor of Enugu is what is covering up for the poor performance of the current Governor........same will apply to the successor of Ebonyi Governor

The south should not fall to this gimmick.
It is now clear that Buhari is afraid of what will happen to the north after his exit. Forget it! What makes it a gimmick? It was not a gimmick in 2015 but it is now a gimmick in the build up to 2023? In as much as I do not wish Jonathan takes their offer( I hope a Northerner cleans their mess or supersedes over Nigeria's demise in 2023) it is well within his right to take their offer. It is also within the right of any qualified citizen of Nigeria to contest. I believe that includes people like Tinubu, Zulum, Onu, etc If the likes of Tinubu and Amaechi thought through in the build up to the 2015 polls Nigeria would have avoided this situation. The North knows the South has no longer been together after 2015 polls. |

If you think it is the right of you Northerners to determine who leads Nigeria then you will end up leading your own separate Arewa nation sooner than you think or are ready for. How sure are you about Nigeria breaking up because of 2023 polls? The SW broke the Southern ranks in 2015 and the North knows that! Let us not deceive ourselves. The SW will be doing herself harm if she tries to contest. Her best bet will be to support the SE or SS. Only through such a move will she be able to build bridges she burnt in 2015. Please it should not be Orji Uzor Kalu, Rochas Okorocha, Dave Umahi, Rotimi Amaechi, Chris Ngige or Adams Oshimole. Those ones won't fly! |
