I doubt it, but I wouldn't be that surprised if what someone fantasizes about happening to his self or fears about himself in dreams later comes to fruition in real life because the same subtle, unconscious instincts and motivations at work in his dreams would still be there at the back of his mind and influencing his other actions when he's fully awake. Just my two cents. |
@ pagan 9ja, I've seen some pretty pale and whitish looking Iranians just as I've seen some tanner and more olive skinned ones. Why are you under the impression that only the Persians in India represent the 'true' appearance of ancient Iranians? They could be slightly mixed with some darker Indian groups, after all. I suspect that "pure" Iranians would be even whiter looking than the whitest looking Arabs. |
morpheus24: In defense to the title of this thread and as the originator, the reference to "beautiful blend" is connotated from the view that the actually blending of two groups of people that are anomalies of the status quo symbol of African phenotypical identity can be considered as such as opposed to a superficial inference to some idea that being mixed equals being beautiful.Well I took the use of the word at face value, but I see what you were getting at although I don't necessarily agree with that either. As far as humans are concerned, to me a blend is just a blend. |
lmao. . . .I don't believe this but it would be hilarious if true. |
odumchi: Nice thread! Here are some more:Dog ownership is rare among Nigerians, but who among those that do own dogs actually feeds them 'fesis'? That doesn't sound like it makes sense. |
Omexonomy: @op for crying out loud i hope you are earning above the minimum wage. A lot of people ar poor that to them electricity is very expensive. One thing is certain when a commodity is too expensive people will certainly cut conners to get it. How many of the consumers are earning above ten thousand per month what percentage of thier income will go to PHCN. The govt should have cosidered all these b4 imposing it on the peopleI don't understand why people are making excuses for a criminal act that is so clearly undeserving of sympathy. When an even poorer person elsewhere has even less electricity than usual because of the actions of these thieves, I wonder if people will still be trying to defend them. |
Good news. Up GEJ. |
Wallie: Slaves were the main export of the kingdom of Kongo;http://books.google.com/books?id=tBDz0v53UkYC&pg=PA51&lpg=PA51 (Read to at least p. 55) The Kongo slave trade reaching the level that it did was due to foreigners and they (the Kongo slavers) would have been crushed by the rebels if not for European assistance. Not saying what they did wasn't wrong though. Also, the Portuguese carried out and directly oversaw multiple slave raids into the interior specifically to capture slaves. Read up on Angola and Luanda. |
Mystiqme: Marry your sister and let us have peace.lmao |

kobojunkii: What police? The same police that is just as guilty? What's with the lower case? Am I speaking to Kobojunkie's midget cousin? Just as guilty of tapping electricity, or taking bribes? Yeah, on second thought, the offenders will just bribe the police and all will be forgotten. That sucks. |
I wonder why it is that some African and non-African people seem so interested in portraying any group from or near the African continent that is perceived as having some kind of "racially blended" look about them as automatically "beautiful," even when it's glaringly obvious from any and all actual pictures found in the thread or elsewhere online that the majority of the people are just average looking, like every other human population on earth. This phenomenon is currently manifesting itself in the culture section where a whole thread has been devoted to a particular Fulani subgroup, but the thread is very scant on information on the actual culture of this group and is instead focusing heavily on their facial features. I think some people have been subtly visually brainwashed. |
Obiagu1: Exactly but they don't want that because of the economic and political gain they obtained from the amalgamation. We lost our capital and control of our politics and economy. What political gain? I doubt any group gained politically from the amalgamation. Even the economic gain is a post-oil (70s to the present) thing only and it's not as if there wasn't oil that would eventually be found within the territory of the Lagos colony and protectorate. Additionally, one could argue that a country would be better off if they only discover oil later on, so as to avoid "Dutch disease." It seems like every group lost by every single one of the amalgamations. |
ekt_bear: Honestly, if Nigeria had more "swag" as a country, threads like this wouldn't be startedlol |
It seems like the people of the Lagos Colony and Protectorate really lost the most by that amalgamation. If they had been left like that and not merged with the adjacent British protectorates, they would basically have had an ethnically homogenous country by the time decolonization started. Oh well. |
Ikengawo: YESCan you elaborate on the parts in bold? Anyway, even though I also dislike those roofs, I understand that it's an issue of keeping down costs. |
donkarly: its very dangerous, but i dont blame those that do it in a way.the new meter is set by phcn to run very fast so they'll be making much money.my friend who stays in okota was using the old meter until sometime last year when the new meter was installed.the 1st n 2nd card finished within one month n when one of the guys that installed it was contacted,my friend was asked to pay a certain amount which he did for the meter to be reset.i'll rather blame phcn for the trend..It's a crime and all of those that do it should be reported to the police to be penalized. It's just theft, period. |
