You still dont get it bro

All the more pathetic

I raised the issue cos I saw your headless chicken rants on the ijebu thread
You give a good game ...talking the talk on the dialects and history but dude...its not in you

Your disdain for your father's people and nation seeps through your posts..

You don't have the heart and I wonder really why you do it every time every hour

Militancy is all well n good but u have no right to say that..all cushed up where u are

My sexuality is not an issue

I'm not the dude salivating lewdly on peoples batty calling it e fun

Just chill dude...actually visit here and integrate with the people then u can talk what u know nor what u read from authors.

Boohoo

Shymmexx....

Your penchant for aggression across the forum really is nauseating

For someone who speaks of things from the comfort of your keyboard while spouting theories of Afrocentrism yet you despise the mother nation

Your hypocrisy is astounding

You added no value to the discussion

For a dude supposedly based in the west, a simple question of how a woman could get an allocation of such an oil bloc is causing you to hyperventilate.
So upon all your Africa unite crap...u r still a apostle of undue process.

There was no issue at all untill someone made a comment about women who climb the success ladder by bedding men and used mrs alakija and linda ikeji as examples without giving concrete evidence. Even guys here had to call him out and bitterly disagree with him. When someone mentioned chimamanda who is successful in her own field,he poked holes at the person's comment.it was very disrespectful and uncalled for. If you agree with what he said, then that's where we strongly disagree. I won't even argue with you on that.
So the issue is the generalisation

In that case that is not only limited to women

I only used the mums influence as an example. I kind of feel we are not talking about the same person here- whose post do you think i disagree with?
Thats why my first post was.. what is the issue

Is the issue the generalisatiion against women who are succesful or about mrs alakija in particular

I know you weren't addressing me directly ooooo..... and sorry in advance for quoting you.

Now as a confidant to such a top shot, don't you think that's where the favour comes in?

Do you know in business sometimes, asides your intellectual know how or astute managerial skills, having the right network (connection) can spur you up to great heights you may not even had fathomed?

Okay, she is a stylist! How many stylist has that skill to be able to render services to a first lady. That means she worked hard to reach that status!

My stylist is an awesome woman who has 4 boys and with those kids and her always busy salon decided to start a Bsc part time program and now she is a graduate... I admire her a great deal for her zeal and even tell her some personal stuff I don't tell some of my friends.

The point am making is that cos she was a stylist doesn't mean God can't smile on her. I can't say for sure how she got her oil bloc but if I was in a position to give my stylist a job in chevron, I will do it cos she is a hard worker.
No problem... u see we all seem to be skirting the issue
A job and an oil bloc are two different things

Moreover giving ur stylist a job without any reference to her qualifications or capabilities.. hmmmm

I didn't disagree with the op's post. I only praised a guy- a guy oo, who expressed that the post is one sided. At a point, women need the influence of men to succeed just as men will need a woman's influence to succeed. Or do you want to discredit your mum's(for example) influence on where you are today? haba!
Haba.. i did not see any issue with the post
What he said is not all 'successful' women got to the top through hardwork and integrity
This of course applies to the men also

Even another poster sandijey spoke of the sexism which pervades the upper echelons of certain sectors and she was shouted down
She actually raised the best post in my opinion
She identified the sexism as the issue. Some women are actually qualified for higher responsibility but will be stuck because they dont want to compromise their standard.. Some eventually go through but the reality is that most will compromise

It is not only unique to naija but it can be worse here as discrimination lawsuits can be filed abroad

There are men who made it to the top the right way... there are those who did not
There are women who made it to the top the right way... there are those who did not

A mums influence on a child may not be the best barometer of success to determine how successful a woman is

Im sure Ma Baker was a good mum to her kids.

I ask you agauin

What type of luck or favor will make someone get an oil bloc allocation
Do you think it is normal

Why that person
Does the person have the money to pay the signature bonus..etc

A fraction- but that's all i know about that because i was not there to witness what happened before the dotted lines were signed. Some people can be that lucky/favored. It does not always have to come to sex and even if that were the case, valid proof should be presented. Otherwise, the person and intension of the accuser will be questioned.
ok.. so you do not know how her oil bloc was gotten

What do you mean by some people are lucky or favoured

What sort of favor will enable someone who was an associate of the former First Lady get access to own an oil bloc

Yet you are defending the person vehemently..

Marriage is so overrated
We need more of this

Although the wedding holds no legal ground, Grace is glad she is no longer a 'single' lady.
She added: "It felt like a really big deal saying my vows, which were mostly about me promising to take more risks in matters of the heart. I really don’t see it as any kind of feminist statement, but creating a wedding of this kind on my own terms felt incredibly empowering."

Foreign Wives will not have any problem standing with the men
Foreign Wives would more likely to 100% support their family "financial compatibility"
That much is self evident

So will Some Nigerian wives not have any issue standing with their man or supporting their family

so whats the point of the discussion

Is zboyd recommending we marry foreign wives

Permit me to direct the viewing audience to an article that speaks of the transformation of some Nigerian men who are married to non-Nigerian women. What some Nigerian-based wives complain of Nigerian-based husbands NOT doing in the household is far different from what some Nigerian husbands who are married to foreign women ARE doing in the Diaspora. Why is this so?

Family › Re: Boys Night Out Discussions by pickabeau1: 7:56pm On Oct 08, 2014
The major issue is that ladies want to show off with something...hence the engagement ring which is not our tradition

And as anything ladies accessory wise, they want to show off with their friends

its a waste of money and time and can be even a determinant of a ladies maturity level and her ability to withstand peer pressure

The proposal is good.. the issue is that it goes with a ring....if only one could propose without a ring

Let me call a dude.. Tallesty1

you guys should come and help me o...what is the purpose of a proposal? is it not to tell a girl you want to marry her ni? do I necessarily have to buy a ring and go down on one knee? what if I have arthritis nko? grin

If you ask me, once you determine that you're willing to spend the rest of your life with someone and communicate same to the person, you're as good as engaged, or am I missing something?

One of my lunatic friends said you should spend 3 months salary on engagement ring (the joker is obviously not close to getting married...lol). If you see as my mind just dey do the maths as im dey misyarn ehn...smh.
