pls, i will like to know if it is possible to track/receive two satellites with only one LNB? I actually saw a post where one showed a pix of a Astra-2B and Badr-5 tracked with only one LNB.

It is very possible. If the satellites are very close together (imagine they have a low degree difference, say one is at 100 degrees and then the other is at 102 or 96 degrees) you can get them with a smaller dish (from 60 cm if it's KU band) and the more the difference the more you will need to increase dish size. Currently I am getting Arabsat 5c, Eutelsat W3C and Eutelsat W2A on a single 1.8m dish and I intend to get more here although using multiple LNBs. I am getting Sirius 4 and Eutelsat W3A on a single dish and LNB. It all depends on your liking and imagination.

I think nobody is trying to make anybody look like a fool here. If it is a general consensus that we should bring sanity to the forum then lets do that. If we agree to make people read before posting then lets do that. If we answer repetitive questions here, will we move forward? NO! Those questions shud go to NEWBIES section and not here. Stop answering the so called SILLY questions here and people will know where to post them. It's not that we don't want to answer people's questions, but we want sanity. Check in the Newbies section, I have answered a lot of 'SILLY' questions there because I know people there don't know much and need assistance (they are new). But for sure, Newbies' material should not be transferred to this section. Apologies if I have offended anybody in the process of making my views known.

About two weeks ago Arryadia didnt show midweek epl matches,did d heavens fall, was d info invalid or not true ?. Mbc3 advertised schalke vs leverkuson match but showed india film instead ystaday.
Subsequently b4 ystaday, i noticed zimbo shows italian league & lcf shows bundesliga.
Lcf showed schalke vs leverkuson match ystaday @ 6:30pm,while zimbo didnt. I only told u to look out for it & dats y i didnt specify d matches.
So all these while ONLY pidzo gives correct details, dats good.......
If i have posted over 60 posts here & 1 happens not to fall through completely,does dat now rubbished all d geniune n true posts, i leave dat for u all to judge.

Free satellite TV for Africa

Samsung has unveiled plans to launch a TV in Africa with built-in support for free satellite TV

Samsung Electronics has unveiled plans to launch TVs that have built-in satellite decoders, with the aim of giving viewers access to around 60 channels for free.

This product line will be available in early Q3 2012, in 6 African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast, DRC and Cameroon.

Samsung said it hopes to bring more channels to more African regions in 2013, with a new satellite launch plan from SES, a major satellite operator in a number of African regions.

For now, its agreement with SES will allow Samsung to provide around 30 English channels, and more than 30 French channels, to the six launch nations.

“In Sub-Saharan Africa there are 230 million households of which 80 million have TVs, and less than 10% have access to digital TV,” Samsung said. “In an aim to increase access to quality programming and to drive digitalisation, we have identified the role that satellite plays in this regard and have concluded agreements with SES,” Samsung said.

Danny Kim, director of TV and AV at Samsung Electronics, explained that viewers will have to aim their dish antennas at the Astra 2A or Astra 4B satellites.

Kim said that, through their agreement with SES, they will offer free satellite TV through Astra 2A to French-speaking countries, while Astra 4B will be used for English-speaking countries.

Thanks for the compliment. I have a feeling that Big Brother is screwing the bolts behind the scenes. Lately there have been fewer and fewer EPL FTA games except the common one that is shown in almost all channels. Some channels that were showing EPL games on an FTA platform have now totally stopped and are focusing on Italian Serie A. It's looking really bad.

What a good question! I don't think people still LOVE hunting these birds. I still do it with all the passion. I have just finished hunting Measat 3/3a 91.5 degrees east although with limited success. My priority is FTA.

Arabsat 5c has only Aljazeera Sport 1 (and Alkass Sport, Saudi Sport 1) only. It's obtainable via a 1.8m C band combination. For frequency check _www.lyngsat.com/arab5c.html

Your question about Aryadia was answered by Ball22.
Now to BISS and DCW keys. DCW means Data Control Word and BISS means Basic Interoperable Scrambling System. BISS is a system of encryption like, viaccess,irdeto,etc and its key contains 16 sets of numbers and letters and the keys take long time to change. A subscription package sometimes works using a combination of a Smart Card plus an "over the air" transmission to create a code that will allow the transmission to be decrypted and thus viewed. The code created is called a Data Control Word (DCW) and needs to be updated about every 30 seconds to maintain a viewable picture.

Occasionally, for technical reasons, package providers may have to use DCW that doesn't change. This non-changing Data Control Word is called a Constant Control Word (CCW).

On these occasions the CCW can be inserted into a key file and will decrypt the appropriate channels for as long it doesn't change.

Yes its very true. Jsc Sport 1 & 2 is Fta while Jsc Sports +1 & +2 isn't. The scrambled channels are on ew7 (and other sats) while Jsc sport 1 is on Arabsat 5c. As for what you want to do about it depends on your judgement.

You have to do your part, check whether the encryption is Biss for the channels in question. Sometimes websites give misleading information and you end up wasting your resources on a nonviable venture. Take the example of RX OB Sports channels on Thaicom 5. They have plenty of Biss keys on the internet but if you check they are encrypted in Skycrypt and not Biss which means the keys will not work, try it. May be DCW keys

@auchs, the dissadvantages far more than the advantages. The ku lnb which is located behind the cband suffers from high signal loss. The only use i can recommend the combined ku-cband lnb for is for dth signals eg intelsat7/10@68e or nss7@22w to receive both ku and cband.

I agree with your observation. This LNB would work very well on satellites that have both KU and C band and don't require a dielectric plate for the C band (as on Intelsat 7/10) as this plate greatly affects KU reception (since KU band is linear, H or V and the dielectric plate is meant for circular signals - those that show as R or L). Unfortunately Nss 7 C band is not linear (requires the plate) and without the plate you lose a lot of transponders.
