Looks like you saw me in your dream today? Sorry o. I am not the cause of your hunger.

The question I asked is valid. If its not valid to you, gloss over. or go to bed or simple keep shut.

People are Nigerians first before they are politicians. Being politicians doesnt make them shameless and without conscience. The OP himself even agreed to this by his reference to other countries.

So, the question is, why are Nigerians shameless and without conscience. This is my explanation before you start hitting your own head with coke bottle because of a simple question.

If i see you in my dream, I wont wake up! Lai lai! You are a bad omen.

The OP's question was directed at our political elites in power or the ones that have served Nigeria before. We are all guilty in literally terms but his question connotes the opposite. Or perhaps you can rephrase the question if you think its not supposed to be asked this way undecided

Okija_juju:

@ OP

Shame or conscience?!!

Lets start with something more simple like a heart!!

Bode George, stole billions, was tried, convicted and sent to jail,  On his release, a CHURCH thanksgiving was held for him, his supporters and politician friends came out enmass to support him and cheer him on. I couldnt even believe that a pastor would let a known crook climb the alter. No apology was rendered, nothing,

Cecilia Ibru, stole, was tried and convicted. Spent a few days in jail and was sent home on medical grounds and placed under house arrest.

Demeji Bankole, Stole our money, was arrested in a mission impossible style arrest. Today he is walking around freely.

Peter Odili, Robbed Rivers State blind for 4 years,  Left Rivers State and is currently living in Abuja. He cannot return to Rivers State not even for a visit. But he is still a top member of the PDP board of trustees,

and the list goes on,  and on,

What we need is a government who isnt scared of Nobody,  Someone who would be elected into office as an INDEPENDENT candidate with no party affiliations whatsoever,  Who would in his 4 year tenure handout atleast 20 sentences of atleast 15 year jail term to some of the so-called untouchables walking around today in the corridors of power,

Until we make people scared to steal, the bull will continue

God does not reject sinners. . . . . . . his arms are open to receive anytime, no matter your sins. So you shouldn't blame the pastor bro

You claim to supersede everyone here with knowledge. . . . . . however, you always display your irrationality to sensitive issues. I had the same experience. Am still in the service. I applied for a job 2 months ago. For this job, I am well qualified, having more than 2 years working experience and they are looking for fresh graduates. Am still fresh cos i finish in 2010. The problem? GO AND FINISH YOUR NYSC. It pisses me off anytime i remember that a lot of money is being thrown down the drain in the name of NYSC. I do nothing in MDGs Office that i am posted. There is a lot of work there, but i am an "outside". So, i do nothing. Which experience have i gained? boredom.
Guy, which experience are you talking about? NYSC is a waste of valuable time. Sitting in the ministries, doing nothing? or teaching in the school? I only see teaching as an opportunity to impact on some one. NYSC teaching is not much of an experience.

What are you saying? I was talking about the part time students and not the NYSC graduates undecided

Okija_juju:

Your post stopped making sense after the first paragraph,

You think just because a student is schooling part-time, they are better than fulltime graduates?! Please explain all that stuff you wrote,

And yeah I did serve, not visit, My job description was to compile monthly reports. I also did the yearly reports for 2 years (My service yearand that of the previous year because my boss hadnt done it), All I had to do was record the shipping activities at the port for the month which never took me more than 4 hours to finish, I did serve but rather than dress up everyday to go sit down in an office doing nothing but gisting and gossiping, I went proactive and used the time to do my own things,

You reacted this way because you taking personal, . . . . . . You visiting and not serving doesn't mean you are not brilliant or dint learn anything from your service, Im just saying the purpose is always defeated. You said it your self that you barely went to the office more than 3 times in a month because nobody cared. . . . . so what are you saying bro? Recording shipping activities couldn't have prepared you for the labour market, or do you now work as a sailor or even with a shipping company? The fact is that you handled a secretarial function. undecided

Like seriously!!

I served with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency office in one of the SS states, MY GOD!! At some point I had to ask what they actually did?! My boss came to work by 11am and signs the timesheet as 7:30 am, And he would leave for lunch at 12 and not return till same time next day,

As much as I was paid, I felt useless as I am not a lazy person, I ended up going to work 3 times in a month, cos nobody cared.

You dint serve, . . . . . . . . you visited undecided

Why shouldn't a part time graduate be better than you as a fresher when he actually hustled hard on his job and maintained more perseverance to learn what he needs to keep doing to keep up with his fees?

I THINK SOUND AND COMPETENT PEOPLE WORK WITH THEIR EXPERIENCED BRAIN AND ALSO DEVELOPED SKILLS.

Sometimes they are more technically sound even, when you are busy propounding your theories they are already coupling the finished job.
They are more dedicated because they value how they got(get) there. undecided

NYSC / Re: The Importance Of NYSC In The Labour Market? by pinkrex(m): 4:49pm On Oct 10, 2011
Okija_juju:

NYSC is important in the labor merket for the following reasons;

1. There is a government law that states that unless an exemption letter has been issued by NYSC to the applicant, no Nigerian may be employed to do work in Nigeria without a NYSC completion certificate.

2. In a country where most of the employers ask for experience, NYSC does help to give every Nigerian graduate a "1 year" experience to add to their C.V's.

One year of sitting in a Government ministry, hanging your boots on your desk and playing with old civil servants? undecided

The certificate in itself is worthless. but companies take it serious, almost more serious than the real certificate you struggled four years for and its really hard to get a job without one

Not really dear.  smileyThey are more experienced and better on the job. A fresh graduate is to be trained on the job afresh, but someone that works and school might not be eloquent or so fantastic but they are practically sound and can hit the ground running the day they assume roles.

While some reasonable ones amongst us are pointing out the effects of removing subsidy, some are just totally against corruption that they don't even mind starving to death for it to be removed. Verily I say unto you, it is wise to remove subsidy but certainly not at this time the economy(inflation) is thriving 7.7% on paper but void in reality. Its not now that ill fortunes have increased and are increasing.
