Joagbaje: @ OP,
If you dont belive in the celebration, you are entitled to your opinion, but the wrong thing you did was the open confrontation of the church structure. Thats why your gOod intention was seen as rebellion.

You would rather have met the pastor privately for clarification if there need be. There are many things we do that may not be in the bible. But that doesnt mean they are bad. Fathers day , mothers day and many other things. If you are part of an assembly , its either you submit to the structure there or you keep to yourself. But going open to confront a structure. Insted of talking to the leadership was not a mature thing
I precised that this happened during the women meeting. I couldn't have done this in the church. I felt it was better not to pretend.

What if at the long runs, i helped them in everything and on the day (25th dec) i didnt appear, wont this be worse?

So it would have been better not to speak up? na waooh! Telling the Pastor is as well as telling the women group. Its even faster because i made them aware instantly. Instead of Pastor passing the message to them, from there some will say, "why she no tell us" women can be funny some times!!

Op you did the right thing, your pastor just cant handle the truth.
This is the greatest problem we have in christianity, that a pastor believes something doesnt mean he is right, the hate being challenge.
@frosbel,I guess infallibility should also be a doctrine for pentecostals tooo, pastors are always right.
The bible said it search the truth for yourself, hold on to the truth.
If your pastor cant defend his doctrine and he wants to enforce it on you.

Op you are a superstar a whole sunday sermon was dedicated to you(just wondering what if you were not in church today, the sermon would probably have had a part 2)

superstar ke? of course i annouced i will be in church after the end of our meeting, so i guessed the sermon was like prepared over night grin

frosbel: My dear , you did the right thing.

For the first time in many years, my wife agreed that there will be no Christmas tree and the associated nonsense this Year. She now sees as many of us do that the source of all this confusion is the catholic pagan church which also brought us the trinity, immaculate conception of mary and so on and so forth.

If you think Christmas is bad, try mentioning Trinity, they will kick you out immediately , lol.
You don't mean it shocked, I will be without a church then. You know i cannot speak against the trinity doctrine if preached publicly to the congregation.
As a woman, we are to KEEP silent in the church grin grin

I had the previllage to kick against "Christmas" because we were all women grin
Christianity Etc › Either You Unite With The Church Doctrine Or You Are Against The Bible...... by plappville(op): 4:00pm On Oct 07, 2012
Yestarday was my first meeting held with my new church women. They stated out thier yearly programmes and it appears that "CHRISTMAS" was in the list.
So the speaker told each of us to participate in all activites for the success of the Christmas programme.

I called on thier attention that i do not celebrate Christmas so i cannot help them with the Christmas programme, but for other programmes i will.
They asked why, i asked them to show me where the word "CELEBRATION OF CHRIST BIRTHDAY" is in the bible, This made them felt real cold!! none could present it.

The speaker spoke up. Its true there is no place in the bible, i myself have never noticed this, it has been part of the church doctrine and there is nothing wrong in celebrating Jesus birthday, she said. One old woman suported me and said, though she has been in the church for years but she has never participated in the xmas celebration.
Because, its a day not for the Christians, but for pagans are well. She said she didn't see anything in Christmas that has a significant of Christ. But that she had prefares not to disclose it to them.

To cut it short, i told them i am not against them, but i wouldn't in anyway participate with them? sorry don end. faces were no longer smilling huh undecided angry

I was surprise that Todays sermon was directing to me, The pastor started qouting from (phillipians 2:1-5)
1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

He said, he advises us to be united, we should make others feel we know the bible more than them, we shouldn't try to change things that are already installed or come to stay.

He said if we do not accept the church doctrine we are breaking the above verse, and this means we are not humble like Christ.
He continues that we shouldnt think for ourselve but for the church in general. That its thesame spirit on the day of convertion, so none should try to prove He/she is more knowledged than the others.

He said alot of things, i believed his wife had discussed this with him, which is not right. I didn't want to find myself eating my vomit, going back to what i have put a stop to.
I was never against thier programm, I felt not letting them know will make me an hypocrite, but in fact, they reason me wrongly.
I see Christmas as a pagan thing, due to its origin and for the fact that Its not biblical, why then should i agree with this just to feel among.

Does this verse really correspond to my pastors interpretation as par my action? or is it an obligation to accept a doctrine you know so well is not biblical even if its pointing at Christ? Your kind responds will be appreciated thank you.

My Question is this, Does Jesus now know when he is coming back?, because trinitarians claim He didnt know because He was Man when he said so.

(Matt. 24:36), "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."

And is there a verse in the bible that said because Jesus was a man, He cannot know all? Yet some christians claim Christ is "all knowing"?

So many people are blind with Matthew 7:1, They misqoute verses to promote the greeds of these MOG.

Yesterday, my sister was telling me what thier pastor usually do, He will call out tithers to come forward for blessing prayers.
How does He want the others to feel? yet some Christians will come here and qoute the above verse.

That pastor is evil an doer He should be approached with the word of God for correction.

1 CORINTHIANS 5:12-13
12For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.

What an important exercise in order to keep evil out from the ranks of belivers in the church. (Pastors)are not excluded, that means we have to continually evaluate the doctrines "preached", and methods used within the "structure" of the church.

If they preach contentment, while the pastor himself lives an extravagant life, then the follwers might stone him or yell @ him....

So to keep the members treading down the road of materialism as well as the MOG's living large, the pastors have to avoid preaching contentment....

Simple!!!!!

They shud encourage people to make heaven and not encourage them to steal money from where they work and give huge tithes to the church(what happened to Akingbola of Intercontinental bank). As if that is a guarrantee to make heaven. Illuminati is all about money and self glory!
A Nigeria Pastor in a local church in Spain will call out his tithers out for blessing prayers, while those unable to pay will sit back and feel they will not be blessed because they have not to tithe. Is this Jesus Doctrine on the Kingdom of God?? Evil doers using God to benefit.

"For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things."--1 John 3:20

This implies that if our heart condemn us of whatever thing, God will much more condemn us, being greater than our heart, and knowing all our evil things.

Effect from the very moment the Op heard the preaching, she then felt guilty because the preacher made it plain due to what the bible sayS.
But does the bible speaks about trouser? and was there trousers as men clothes before and during Christ time? We must know that there were no relaxer too to retouch the African woman hair, so how do you manage to cumb your hair, do you use cream to relax your hair to enable you comb your hair without feeling pains? Will you consider been a sinner for retouching your hair?

As the above verse speaks, whatever the heart condemns !!!!

IN FACT, WHAT MEN WORE IN THOSE DAYS WERE WHAT WE CALL SKIRTS TODAY.
AS LONG AS THE TROUSERS ARE NOT MEANT TO LURE AND SEDUCE MEN, YOU CAN WEAR THEM.
I agree with you, There are different shape of trouser, trouser made in male shape shouldn't be wear be women, vise versa.
A man will never accept to wear a womans suit trouser, The word trouser was not found in any place in the bible. There is a History of when it became an attire.

If you feel guilty of wearing trouser then put it off you. But you should as well be aware that there are alot of things you must put aside as well.

Christmas, Easter, celebration of dead saints day, new year day, birthday etc....The bible warned us not to practice man traditions.

Christianity Etc › Re: Is This How You Observe The Shabbath? by plappville(op):
So in no way was Paul refaring to the sabbath observance because God’s Sabbath is a "feast" day seesadLeviticus 23:1-3), not a day when one must abstains from eating meat.
The cabbath is nowhere mentioned in Paul’s letter to the Romans; it simply wasn’t the subject. The "days" mentioned here are obviously connected with avoiding of meat.
This makes us to understand what Paul was talking about;, Its cleared He was talking about "fast days". The whole beginning of the 14th chapter of Romans is about food and how people’s beliefs about food should not be
interfered with. The fast days could be observed according to each believer’s conscience. A man could eat or not eat, keep the day or not keep it. Each man
could observe FAST DAYS, or not observe them, according to his own convictions "fully convinced in his own mind."

Take a closer look at (Zechariah 7:5-6
NIV) 5 “Ask all the people of the land and the priests, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months for the past seventy years, was it really for me
that you fasted? 6 And when you were eating and drinking, were you not just feasting for yourselves?

This is talking about the traditional fast days.

image123:

Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Its for the traditional "fast days" and "food avoidance" Not the SABBATH.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is This How You Observe The Shabbath? by plappville(op): 8:25pm On Oct 05, 2012
Image123: @plap
i have small time for your sabbath talk, so let me reply. You are sincere and you are improving, i have no doubts on that. But you need to understand the new covenant. i'm not saying that anything is wrong with the sabbath. i'm only saying, let's get it right, the religious folks of Jesus'time missed the significance of the sabbath, we ought to learn from their mistakes instead of making the same mistake. The sabbath simply means rest. It is the day of rest. God in His love made it a rule/law that we should rest. Most of people's sicknesses and troubles today is due to lack of rest, so we all should realise that it is very important to rest, both man, animals, and even machines. It's like when i was young, i remember the old ones could get very angry to see young ones not yet in bed, late at night. Even in boarding school, siesta na by force. But as we grew older, nobody forced us to sleep, except at the hospital where they tie you to the bed with something they call drip and say you are on admission. It's the same thing in the Bible, the OT was our schoolmaster(Galat 3:24 In fact, the Law was our teacher. It was supposed to teach us until we had faith and were acceptable to God. ) But now in the new testament, although rest is still very relevant, nobody forces you to go and sleep by 8pm again! It's no more restrained to a particular day or regimentations of don't do laundry or cook. This is what Jesus severally demonstrated that often brought Him at loggerheads with the jewish leaders.

Mat 12:1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
Mat 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Is this how you observe the sabbath?

Luk 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
It is very clear here that Jesus worked on the sabbath day when necessary, He even confirmed it by His own words;
Joh 5:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
Joh 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

plap, this is plain and clear. Jesus worked on the sabbath day, and He said even His Father worked that way. The Bible states that He had broken the sabbath. He broke it severally to teach us the significance and insignificance.
Joh 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
(BBE) For this cause the Jews had an even greater desire to put Jesus to death, because not only did he not keep the Sabbath but he said God was his Father, so making himself equal with God.
(CEV) Now the leaders wanted to kill Jesus for two reasons. First, he had broken the law of the Sabbath. But even worse, he had said that God was his Father, which made him equal with God.
(ISV) So the Jews were trying all the harder to kill him, because he was not only breaking the Sabbath but was also calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal to God.

In the old testament, a man gathered sticks and God said they should stone him, remember? Just like some kids get the beating of their lives if found by the hostel master/prefect not observing siesta. But here in the new testament, Jesus not only adviced but commanded a man to carry his bed(a whole heavier bunch of sticks).
Joh 5:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
Joh 5:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

This made the Jews insane, but Jesus was teaching us a lesson which the Jews never learnt, that the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.

As has been shown, insttead of the Bible stating categorically that Jesus observed/kept the sabbath, the Bible actually states the opposite. But if you insist that keeping the sabbath means to teach in the synagogue on the sabbath, well i'm in line too. i also go to the church on the sabbath day i.e saturdays sometimes, i've also been privileged to teach on the sabbath days. The point is that Jesus taught anytime and anywhere. Nicodemus came to Jesus by night and Jesus taught him. He taught on the mount and by the sea of Galilee, in Cana and in Capernaum, even at Gethsemane and in Jerusalem. he taught on anyday, and of course as a wise evangelist, He still made out time to teach the Jews on the sabbath days too. And so also the apostles. Again, these verse is very clear and you shouldn't literally rob Paul to pay Peter again.
Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Peter said " in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest". He didn't say ALL THINGS Paul wrote are hard to be understood. The verse above is very plain. You may carry a honest poll/survey in your neighbourhood, the sentence is very clear:
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Ok lets understand this verse properly, Paul wrote: "One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks."

From this statement, it does appeared to you due to your reply that Paul is saying that whatever day one chooses to rest and worship is irrelevant so long as one is "fully convinced in his own mind" and "observes it to the Lord." Does this mean that the Sabbath is no different from any other day or that we are free to choose whatever day we wish to observe?

To arrive at a conclusion, u must read it into the verse because the "SABBATH" is in no way mentioned here. The word sabbath or references to sabbath keeping are not found anywhere in this writing. The reference here is simply to ("days,"wink not the sabbath or any other days of rest and worship commanded by God. U should keep in mind that Paul, earlier in this same epistle, wrote: "The law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good" (Romans 7:12); "The doers of the "law" will be justified" (Romans 2:13), and "I delight in the "law" of God" (Romans 7:22). If PAUL was saying here that Sabbath observance is irrelevant, such an assertion would be completely inconsistent with his other statements in this same letter.

LET's see the "days" Paul mentioned here, the context to is what will make us find out. Paul was writing to a mixed church of Jewish and gentile believers in Rome.
In verses 2 and 3 He discussed vegetarianism ("he who is weak eats only vegetables"wink and continued this theme in verse 6 ("he who eats............and he who does not eat"wink.

The passage in question about "days" is in verses 5 and 6 is directly linked with eating and not eating. There is no biblical connection between the weekly Sabbath observance and fasting, so these verses ve to be taken out of context to assume that Paul was referring to the Sabbath.

We can see that Peter's warning is so correct. I thank you for taking ur time shall, but you didn't present a verse that openly cancelled/change the rest day.

When you say Jesus worked, what kind of work did he do and what do you think he was saying when he said His Father worketh hitherto? Is it the kind of work we do today or a work to the glory of God? we must not mix things up. Work to earn a living on the sabbath or work for God on the sabbath. Christ told us that it is "GOOD" to do good on the SABBATH.
