Well, na small thing for us sha... I'm not very surprised. If you check the last 15 years, at least 5-6 of the top 10s are usually from the SW. Greatness is naturally ingrained in the RNAs and DNAs of these people.

In most cases, almost all the tops are from schools in the SW in any case...

How do you mean people abused the citizeship by birth? All I see in your response to missjekyII is a personal beef you have for those who thought it wise to get citizenship for their babies in the U.S. It is not their fault they can afford it.

Yes, Trump wants to end citizenship by birth through an executive order. Anything is possible in today's world. However, can this be done through an executive order? This is something that is in the constitution and will need an amendment.

Amending a constitution cannot be done in one week. Let's see how the week unfolds.

When it expired in Oct, you did not have any discussions with your agent/LL, about renewal or they did not have any discussions with you.........
I did not have any discussion about renewal. Neither was I approached with a new contract.
The contract just states
‘’Should neither party have brought the Tenancy to an end at or before the expiry of the Term, thereafter unless any subsequent fixed term is agreed from month to month and until terminated by either Party serving a notice on the other in accordance with the terms of this Agreement and the Housing Act 1988. The terms within this agreement will be legally valid and binding until the date that it is terminated in full.
‘’
Now, I have checked through 1988 Act as amended no section talks about notice period. Agent is relying on a site https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/private_renting/ending_a_periodic_tenancy of notice period I have to give. Rather than referring me to the contract on the Act.

Agent sent me this when I explained that the section of the contract I was referred to talks about landlord rights.

‘’Thanks for your reply
Apologies, you are correct
It is clause 8 that references the Tenant ending the contract, wherein the Housing Act 1988 is referred to.
I previously sent a link showing information about what the law states when ending a contract
Please note, this the law of England and not our company policy and we therefore have no grounds to change this.
Apologies for any inconvenience
Any questions please let me know’’

@Lexusgs430, @justwise and elders here please come to my aid o.

I renew rent on the 27th of every month. I am relocating to another city and handed notice to my Agent yesterday Dec 29th. Agent replied me that the tenancy will end Feb 26th as the notice requires one month. I checked the contract, nothing in the contract states a notice period of one month. So I asked Agent to refer me to the part of the contract that talks about the minimum notice period. Instead, Agent referred me to this part of the contract that states

''The landlord may terminate the tenancy by service on the Tenant of a notice
pursuant to any ground provided under the Act. The landlord may serve such notice
either:
a. to terminate the tenancy at its end date (e.g. a Section 21 notice to
quit),
b. to terminate the tenancy where the Tenant has broken or not performed
any of his obligations under this Agreement (e.g. a Section 8 notice of
seeking possession), or
c. to terminate the tenancy for any other ground provided in the Act (e.g.
landlord is seeking to live on the property again)
.''

I explained to the agent that this part does not address the notice period required from the tenant but only states the rights of the Landlord. Agent has not replied. Please, how do I go about this?

Kemi Badenoch has stood by her comments about Nigeria after the country's vice president criticised her remarks.

https://news.sky.com/story/kemi-badenoch-not-the-pr-for-nigeria-and-stands-by-comments-on-country-after-criticism-13271713
Kemi the wannabe oyibo is just playing politics. This same person who said this in 2010, ‘’Like you, I am sick and tired of reading that Nigerians are fraudsters, terrorists, bombing airplanes or slaughtering each other in places like Jos. Our generation has suffered enough from the mistakes of the past, and it is up to us not to repeat them.

So I am asking for your help now to support a Nigerian who is trying to improve our national image and do something great here.

So my promise to you is this, If I get elected as a legislator, I will:

1) Use whatever influence I have to speak out against those who are cheating and robbing Nigeria and who seek refuge for themselves or their money in the UK.

2) Speak out against the UK backing any individuals who are

3) Fully support and help to publicize genuine grassroots initiatives such as #lightupNigeria, where the next generation of Nigerians are trying to change things for the better.

This is a chance to have someone who has real influence over what is going on with British-Nigerian relationships. It will not be about personal gain.’’

https://www.naijablog.co.uk/2010/04/kemi-adegoke-for-parliament.html

Her remark against socialism just shows the things she says may not necessarily be her truth cos the UK is a socialist state.

What about Total, Shop, Shell and Chevron? Do they take everything they make from Nigeria to the west? It seems the oil and gas industry is a hype or their decision to divest has reduced their earnings.
The salary they pay the workers do you think it is clear eyes? IF a company has a good cfo and board, instead of paying those things as taxes they prefer to spend on staff and get staff loyalty. Nobody saves cost with the intent of giving it to the govt. When it comes to VAT, you may be surprised to find them in first ten but corporation ta will be small.

She was refused last year, in that application she used an agent that stated she earns 1.5m monthly, which I think is too much, can we reduce the figure for this application? Or must we use the same figures we gave last time?

In this new application we are thinking of reducing her salary to about 800k as it makes more sense since her Account balance is about 3m.
Hope this would not be an issue?
For more context she own a bakery.

No I don’t mind showing my three months payslip, I intend to show three months payslip along with my bank statement.
My relative invited his mum. He fully sponsored the trip. The money in the mother's bank statement was not much. He used six minths bank statement and payslips. He explained that the mum depends on my cousins and him for her monthly upkeep and doesnt earn anything again. The cover letter was "well" written with emotions sef. He earns extremely well but i dont know how much he used to sponsor cos his actions during those visa application times were deliberate at guiding the exact amount he earns and his bank statement lol.

I can see he is gradually getting it right with petrol and dollar which is more difficult so he will easily get it right with electricity

In the next couple of weeks or months fuel sell for 300 naira and dollar to naira around 800 to 900

So why not apply the same tactics to electricity and I guess that’s what he is doing

CareerRe: Which Of These Two Careers Can Help Me Migrate To The US? by Poanan: 12:59pm On Apr 03, 2024
2braithe:
Hello all.
I am a fresh Accounting graduate awaiting NYSC and I need to make a life changing decision that I will not regret.

I plan to go into Finance, Investment Banking specifically. It resonates with my degree and I can prepare for an entry level role during NYSC.

I picked up Web development during my final year. I have a solid knowledge of HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript now.

I plan to go to the USA through the study route (Masters) and stay back legally.

For Finance:
Within Nigeria, I can get an internship and later an entry level role in one of the numerous investment banking firms in Nigeria.

In USA, I'll need to do MBA. After, to get an employer to sponsor me for H1b visa is war because there are tons of capable citizens better than me. I was even told if I'm not in the STEM field, I should forget sponsorship from employers.
Even if I get sponsorship, there are only 85k H1b slots per year, in 2023, about 483k people applied.😭

For Tech:
Within Nigeria, I barely saw any internship opening. Remote internships in foreign companies are the worst. Within 5 hours, 1k people have applied. The job requirements alone will take me over a year to achieve. Same as normal junior job openings... Supply is more than demand.

In USA, I'll need to do Masters in Computer science(I can only work with a degree related to my field of occupation).
Coming from an Accounting background, they may not pick me. If they pick me, I'll do a hell of advanced maths courses.
I can't cope with Discrete mathematics, Linear algebra, Calculus I, Calculus II, etc.
If I manage to cope and I get an employer to sponsor me for H1b visa, I'll still face the lottery of 85k slots and overwhelming applicants. I can't spend that money and come back to Nigeria again.

Please advise me, what should I do?
I'm considering Canada but I don't know if she is better.
Choose tech. Breaking into finance maybe difficult in some countries.

Nothing is permanent. However, if the govt can mop up cash to control inflation through whatever means it wants to deploy then we are fine.

If this is the best Tinubu can do, then we are finished.

Have you checked Nigeria recent debt servicing to revenue ratio? Just check it and get back to me.

CBN rate is 1400/$ but they are selling $$$ at 1260/$ to BDC. Isn't that madness? Is using FX reserves to defend currency value sustainable? That's my concern
If u bought dollars in anticipation better offload. The crisis started ehen Nigeria started forming like they are in the west. At a time, the interst rate in uk was higher than Nigeria. That is what they call madness. Foreigners took their money away cos they brought in their money in at 360 and couldnt take it out at that rate it eroded the gains and part of the capital. For the rate u saw, the last time cbn had that type of rate was on monday 25th. Between monday and tuesday there was a huge jump to 1300 something. My fear about this is thebpersonality of Tinubu he has his guys in the money making places. These people are same people that served under him in Lagos. His eyes is on the money.

Failed policies (Fuel and FX subsidies) are what they have fully brought back.

Lebanon dollar tumble from 1,500 to 15,000 in three weeks because they used their reserves to defend their currency.

This Tinubu's govt is playing with fire.
Lol i am not a fan of Tinubu but thia is yhe best he can do. Ours was already falling wihout defending the naira. Lebanon defaulted on its foreign debt. They went and issued a bond in foreign currency and time to pay they couldnt pay. So there was nothing they could do than to devalue their currency. That is one of the downsides of issuung bond in a currency you do not own. Coming to exchange rate regimes practised by variious countries, they practice what works best on them. It is not cast on stone that it most be a free float to get things right. If u look at Saudi, uae and see what they practise u will understand. Nigeria gets nore forex from Treasury bill than crude oil. E shock u abi? Ask some people in certain dept in cbn from supervisoru grade above or even slme people u SEC who moved from cbn. They cant come out to say it. But even as an outsider u will see it that in recent times since the govt tried to reflect the interest rate in the money market to a great extent, that there receuved more forex in one month than what they received through out the previous year. The reason is because foreigners are invested in that money market which guatantees steady supply of forex that will be used to defend naira. Our problem is more of coruption than the economic model we practise. If naira is defended and fuel subsidised i dont think it is too much. Just watch bow those your very rich uncles will start travelling to japan to do business. Business my foot. If i enter that matter the post will be overly long .

GistMedia0:
In a wedding ceremony that left guests both amused and astonished, a bride took a bold stance by deviating from the traditional marriage vows. Instead of the classic "for better or for worse" and "for richer, for poorer" promises, she offered a unique twist that had attendees in stitches.

As the ceremony commenced, the pastor solemnly began, "For better or for worse," expecting the customary response. However, the bride, adorned in an elegant gown, surprised everyone by confidently declaring, "For better, for better." shocked

This unexpected deviation from tradition garnered a mix of laughter and astonishment from the guests, who were intrigued to see what she would say next. The pastor continued with the next line, "For richer, for poorer," anticipating the standard reply. To the pastor's and guests' further amusement, the bride responded with equal conviction, "For richer, for richer." shocked
