Ukrainians were chased by Putin & his tanks. Would you rather prefer that you came here because Cameroun or Chad or Niger or Benin are bombing & killing and destroying your village in Nigeria?
You paid 16k tuition, really?
But that is not the beginning of the story. Before paying the tuition, do you remember what else you did?
Let me remind you.
a. You showed proof of funds to assure the UK that money ain’t ya problem, that you had enough ££ to take care of yourself, & any dependants, didn’t you?
b. Remember that zoom video interview? Do you remember what you outlined to the interviewer about your plans upon graduation?
this number 2. i didnt lie about it o. I told them the truth and stated the reasons.

Yes, but it would be reasoned judgement and not finger in the air.

Even with a generous margin applied to the estimate, the figures would still point to under 50% of dependants being economically active.
an estimate is an estimate. anything based on estimate is based on personal opinion rather than fact. let them come up with real figures from ons.

It's not innuendo, it has been stated numerous times by the government and I'm sure they have access to data points and not just anecdotes:

https://homeofficemedia.blog.gov.uk/2024/02/01/reducing-net-migration-factsheet-december-2023/

Surely some dependants work – so by banning them you are reducing the amount of working people coming to the UK?

We estimate that only around 25% of dependants work when they come to the UK.

It's obvious, even from this forum, that the majority of master's students came in with or were joined by their families. Some are now struggling to pay the PSW fees for the family especially with the increased IHS. Some have opted to send the kids back in the short term, some have opted to leave out the children and just apply for the parents for now. Some had planned to jump onto the care visa and avoid paying IHS altogether but have been caught out by the new policies.
Well, @jedisco may not be entirely wrong with his position. The bolded from the write up wrt 25% is an estimate. An estimate is normally based on judgement .

What if the prospective employer sent out a comprehensive reference questionnaire, as many do, and the current employer decides to answer fully instead of sending out a template response like most large organisations do.

Some questions might probe the candidate's absence and punctuality record as well as other aspects of their performance, and leave space for examples. So if the current employer decides to answer candidly e.g.

Q: Please comment on the employee's ability to work well within a team, providing examples where possible

A: Employee got on well with his team members and supervisors. However, although it wasn't a disciplinary matter, it was noticed on occasion that he joined team meetings quite late and sometimes skipped important team meetings without giving a valid explanation

I don't see why the employer would be penalised by a tribunal if he has receipts e..g Teams records to back up his response.

His response could be seen to be neutral and fact based and if cleverly written could easily mask his true intentions.
And was never talked about during appraisal meeting? It cannot hold water. If you like bring team evidence and they ask you to bring appraisal evidence. They find out the appraisal is saying something else, the person will go down for it.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Poanan:

Perhaps I don't know how certain things work.

But if you have a habit of joining online microsoft teams meetings late for instance, I do not complain or caution you against it, I only note it in your file. Can I not state that in your reference and when the need arise, I use the attendance sheet generated by Microsoft teams that shows the time each person joined the meeting as evidence?
Even in Nigeria you can't do that in Some companies. For everything you term as an offence, there must be an action that follows. If there is no action you can't term it as an offence. If someone is always coming late for meeting, you must tender evidence of how you had a conversation regarding their attitude to work. If people start marking offence like the way you intend to do who will stand. That will be same as saying "I am talking to you and you are breathing" cos I may not like it that you breath while talking to you. I expect any of my assistants I talk to to collapse. A good appraisal system is meant to spot that and u people have a conversation around it. If not, it shows you have an axe to grind.

So what's your solution? People unable to work or live normally due to their disability shouldn't be supported to have normal lives? Or you think they are paid too much so they should only be kept alive but not afforded any opportunity for leisure?

This individual's case is clearly very unique and that's why it's in the news. Beware of assuming that's the norm (unless you know many other people saving 50k from their disability payments).

Also, whether it benefits the economy or not is secondary. The core question is whether it benefits people to live a good life. What's the point of a robust economy if large swathes of people are living in lack due to not being able to work and earn an income and also not being supported by the government?
hmm not really. Why it made the news was because the council clawed it back. Most councils stop paying in money when the money gets to a certain amount and wait for it drop then continue paying. They clawed it back without notifying him and the man went berserk.

How can you say 100 pounds is not like 100 naira? How can you compare 1600 Pounds to 1600 naira? Do you even know what you're saying?

Ok, since you want to compare cost of living, can 1600 naira afford you all those things you mentioned in Nigeria? Since you feel they are both of the same value.. if you earn 1600 in Nigeria it can't even feed you a day. But the Same 1600 pounds can afford you a lot both home and abroad and you'll still be able to save so what exactly is your point?
Your second sentence explains it all. 100 naira is not same as 100 pounds; same way 1600 naira is not same as 1600 pounds. 100pounds on feeding per month is a subtantial part of your feeding money for the month for someone without a family who doesn't eat out.

This is pure jeolousy. Envying your own family members is the height of witchcraft

It's not their fault that they live in a place where the 10 dollars you send can get them a luxury it can't afford you over there. If you look at it, you still spend the bulk of your money more than them because you send them chingum money that can't take you a week but spend thousands of what you send to them there for yourself. So how are they enjoying more than you?
Person go just dey begin calculate the small 100 dollars ( wey be like 100 naira to am) wey him dey send say e too much. Small prayers wey you for receive for sending a meager 100 dollars, you now lose it because of over calculations.

It's this wicked mentality that is making many of you to be stingy. It's very bad. If they have the opportunity to be there like you, I'm sure they won't ask you for anything.

Keep your money. Those in naija go still shine and fresh pass una because we eat real natural organic food and get natural Vit D year round.
You guys wait. It's only a matter of time, we will soon have good govt and nobody will send you and your lonely lives abroad anymore.

Very stingy people.
Don't be deceived by the likes. I can't say for u.s but for UK 100 pounds is not like 100 naira. Big fat lie. At the end of the month most minimum wage job pay 1600 pounds per month. Does anyone earn 1600 naira per month? Now if u stay in certain areas that are cheap. You will be able to find self contained studio for 600 per month with all bills inclusive. Food and transport for only one person may take like 250 per month. Without spending extravagantly with no social life just to cut cost. You are left with u are left with 750pounds. This for someone without any family. Then he decides to send 200 everyminth then family begins to do any how spending. How will u feel? Please do and go abroad to show people how not to be stingy if you feel this is stinginess and envy.

By default, the NIN shouldn't be linkable to two names(identities which included fingerprint, pictures etc). Except you're now telling us that that database is not foolproof and admitting the country just wasted and spent billions of Naira buying and paying for untested and compromised database system undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided
It happens especially with official lines. They give you sim when you start working and then you register with your NIN then when leaving the organisation, they ask you to drop the sim. They employ another person who uses same sim and then add his own NIN. If they do an audit trail, they will see that there are two NINs on that sim.

please go and join a union like unison, so that if anything comes out of it, you can get lawyers to fight for you without paying for it. Like someone said it may be a test from your employer. This seriously contravenes GDPR in my opinion. However, dont be heady about it. A reminder will come thru mail then ask your boss if this doesnt contravene GDPR. You also have a duty to protect yourself.

If this truly falls under GDPR, you are the one to go down for it if anybody takes anyone to court; because you released your password to an account that can be used to gain access to other people. Personal account cannot be shared, this contravenes linkedin terms.

if you changed the email on that account to work email, immediately change it back to your personal email. if not, it is your employer that will change that password you are hiding.

I’ve seen it happen in the US. What does the employment contract that you signed say about social media accounts geared towards career? Review your employment contract, it may actually say that this is a condition of employment. Never sign and agree to anything without total comprehension and agreement.
An account that was already in existence before getting the job? Irrespective of what he has signed, the law will not support the wrong thing. GDPR is a serious thing in Europe.

My use of all scheghen countries was for this forum only of course I dint use that in my application, I stated the number of countries, I dint even mention all that I have been to and I used just two business which is sales of cameras and other production equipment, i also showed my airbnb earnings where I get paid by airbnb directly into my US account, I showed all the evidence to show that I own the houses I use for airbnb, wrote a detail cover, trust me i think the only thing I dint add was my tax cos I dint see it as a requirement and I don't even pay tax (my bad) I just felt paind that I got rejected infact I did hold my pasport as I am on a business trip, so trust me i did everything right paid my self 500k for 1 year spent just 150k monthky from it also showed my us acc and showed that I most of my spending was from the US acc and my airbnb earnings went there, I think i did my best and I will just leave them maybe I will go when I get a dual citizenship that doesn't require uk but then again I was honestly just trying to add uk to one of the countries I have seen as I am on a mission to see all them counties, but it is what it is.
From your statements it looks like you are using business account to apply. if this is the case, you have to change it. Read issues with this. why not pay yourself for 6months and let your budget fall within two months of your disposable income (salary minus all expenses) when you get the visa u can do whatever. Then your business will now be the tie to your home country. Using business account to apply if this is the case, UK most times frowns at it. I think you need to work on your documentation; payslips etc. Make sure any huge cashflow in and out can be explained with evidence.

quote author=hunee post=127961468]Travel history is a factor. I read , listen and hear people say they got visa with no travel history, bullshiting and making braggados statement. The good side is that, some persons are very lucky.
I will ask you, what is the percentage of people out of 100 that claim no travel history and got visa? I doubt if they are more than 20, that is "if". The truth is , genuine documents, good presentations and some support documents can give you visa on a first time, with much of luck. Nowadays, i will advice anyone thinking oversea countries to try to build their histories well, cos these people be getting really tougher with people with less or no history especially the schengen countries and making lot of immigration policies.

I don't believe your travel history. You said ALL. Now, it's major Countries. If this is how you brag and provide inconsistent information, I'm not surprised about the outcome of your application. I insist that UK will never stress you if you have half of the travel history you claim you have. Never. Take this from someone who has been travelling to the UK since 1977. Yes, 47 years.

Be true to yourself. We don't know you and you don't need to colour the truth. I doubt if you can afford the extensive travel history you claim based on your purported income. Too many holes in your story...

Reapply and present only relevant and genuine documents. I know very few people who have been to more than 15 Schengen Countries - and they are well heeled individuals....
UK does not look at that travel history. The application is looked at on its own merit. Previous threads had people like Justwise commenting on things like that. He advised two months salary as the total budget for the trip those times which many people fail to do. Even if you want to spend more than that just use that to do budget. This guy may ne saying the truth have someone who has been to U.S severally but been denied UK severally as well. Reapplying for the person you quoted is for him to address the reason he was denied. What if he has unquestionable cashflow which he did nit explain
