Obiagu1: ^^^

We don't care if it will affect some URL, afterall how many people post url link concerning the Igbo.

We need autocorrection from Ibo to Igbo.
I think URL excuse is just a lazy one. If the admin want to auto-correct Ibo to Igbo, as they have done for the several variant of yoruba, I believe it can be done.

The can start but auto-correcting the 'standalone' Ibo spelling to Igbo while creatively dealing with the ones in URL, or let those be if they can't.

thegoodjoehunt: What will work is for the General to look into the issue of killing unarmed men and say whether he had a part in it. If he had a part in that slaughter, he should let Nigerians know that he was actually following orders and regrets his action.

If he didn't have a hand in the killing of the Unarmed soldiers, he should publicly wash his hands off the allegation.
Buhari is a murderer. It is expected that most murderer are serial liars as well. To expect Buhari to owe up to this killing is to expect too much. How could he claim he, a Lieutenant as at then, was too junior to participate in coup plan by officers his rank, and even lower. He is simply a bloody murderer and an accomplished lair! Same man that told the world, Abacha never stole!

You still don't get it! The others don't matter NOW! They are not asking for leadership position with innocent bloods on their head, unlike buhari! Get it?

Dansalau: Please, don't let us revisit, the forgotten issue, this is a coup that took place when you are very young or not even been born, if you want to De-credit or credit Buhari, you can simply talk about his roles when he was a military head of state. The issue on coupe detat can not be use to judge someone, its an order which must be folow........
Who told you it's forgotten? Forgotten by who? You, the actors, or victims? His role in the counter coup is as important as his bungling as head of state. A man is composite of his actions; murder was part of Buhari's past. The question is, has he 'repented' ? How do we know?

dinachi: You have finally exposed your PDP bias. I clearly saw the name of the senior officer in charge was a captain Adamu it is very instructive that you didnt focus on him or other officers like Lt Nassarawa and co but instead chose to focus on the only politician that gives your paymasters in PDP the jitters! Again according to your post, some of the soldiers were arrested and not killed and your posts simply did not give the names of officers who merely arrested their colleagues separtely from those who participated in the killing. What proof do you have that Buhari participated in the killing? The man that ruthlessly abhors corruption would not kill for killing sake! That character is inconsistent with his personality! @PointB tell a better lie!
Why don't you open a thread and focus on individual you wish to. I have stated times without number that I am interested in Buhari role in the counter coup. Find someone you like to focus on, I couldn't give a rat'azz who.

The man, Buhari, butchered his unarmed colleagues. Has he shown remorse? Has he asked for forgiveness? Yet he seeks office with those blood dripping from his hands, and head? Which sane nation allows that?
PoliticsRe: General Buhari Is A Damaged Brand by PointB: 3:19pm On May 08, 2013
He is not just a damaged brand, he is a bloody murderer!
By the time (Murtala) Muhammed got to Ikeja, Captain Martin Adamu, Lts. Nathan, Nassarawa, Muhammadu Buhari , Alfred Gom, Longboem and a bunch of NCOs were already in control of the battalion, having executed several Igbo soldiers and officers (including Major B Nnamani, one of the company commanders) and arrested many others by cordoning off the quartermaster section of the barracks or grabbing soldiers as they came out for morning PT.The battalion commander, Lt. Col. Henry Igboba, narrowly escaped a dragnet deployed around his house by Lt. Longboem and got away.

(Murtala) Muhammed reportedly gave orders to stop the killing

poseidon12: PointB, thanks very much for this information about Gen. Buhari. Since he is aspiring to be president of Nigeria, it is very important that we know who he really is.
I voted for him in the last election. However, if I had this information about him, I would not have voted him. But if he had come out in the past to admit to the evil deed and expressed regret, I would forgive.
This is a terrible country where past atrocities are swept under the carpet and everybody pretends like nothing happened. Then on Fridays and Sundays, they troop to the mosques and churches. Nigerians will win first prize for hypocrisy.
You are welcome kind sir.

gtrust: They way BH operate is simply the same as an officer killing un-armed soldiers/officers!
Unarmed combatants (enermy/friend) should be arrested and taken prisoners (of war or peace)

I know Ojukwu released a prisoner of peace and a high value one at that in the person of Awolowo whom he inherited
in Enugu prison- he did not put him there!
You begin to wonder if they understand the VALUE of prisoners of war or peacehuh
If the Biafrans had Awolowo as a negotiation bargain I wonder what...

Maybe they just didn't get it and the that is even worse!
Americans are ALWAYS in the business of catching as many as possible alife and we all know why they're able to predict...
They just don't get it.

Some of them are even arguing blinding that Nzeogwu precipitated it, as if it make it right. World over, killing unarmed soldiers is considered a crime, every military personnel know this basic principle.

Below is a typical example in the same era, and same coup, by some of the coup leader themselves:

After being alerted, first by Lt. Col. Muhammed, then Lt. Col. Gowon, Captain Garba and Lt. Tarfa secured the Federal (then known as ‘National’) Guards Barracks at Obalende, better known as 'Dodan Barracks'. It is named after a town called Dodan in the Arakan peninsula in Burma where Nigerians fought back in World War 2. They rounded up all Igbo soldiers and locked them up in safety. Not a single Igbo soldier in that unit lost his life.Garba and Tarfa overcame a challenge by a northern soldier called Adamu Lamurde who emotionally threatened to kill them both if he was not allowed to avenge the death of Brigadier Maimalari by liquidating the Igbo soldiers in the unit. Indeed, this achievement was one of the very few successes of northern officers against northern NCOs seeking revenge.Garba later got a letter of commendation and appreciation fromCol Hilary Njoku, his erstwhile Brigade Commander, when all the Igbo soldiers including Sergeant Vidal, Private Oligbo, Private Calistus Chukwu and others in the unit eventually arrived back safely in the east.
Now that is bravery!

There is a great difference when a soldier kills armed soldier(s) in combat - he is simply doing his job . But when you butcher unarmed men, as obvious from the foregoing, as they come out for morning PT, it is called murder, it is abominable! As a matter of fact, it is cowardice, and not any different from what boko haram is doing!

gtrust: In war or even in a robbery: YOU DO NOT KILL UN-ARMED people!!!

As an officer you get your 'job specification' and it is your responsibility how you do the job!

People who are not armed should be arrested and NOT killed: that is the CODE OF CONDUCT!

When an officer kills (murders) or supervises the killing of un-armed fellow officers or soldiers then it is really really really BAD!

Is Buhari eligible to contest election even in his bedroomhuh
Answer: I don't know. Ask Buhari himself!

N/B: Watch simple film and you will see criminals quickly throwing away their arms when police show.
Whyhuh they will be arrested and NOT killed! that is civilisation!!!

Note: I am not a politician!
Thank you for this input. I wonder why many are unable to arrive at this very conclusion. It's a basic tenet of military code - you don't kill unarmed soldiers, even if they are enemy soldiers. , let alone comrades!
PoliticsRe: How Muhammadu Buhari Murdered His Colleagues! by PointB(op): 2:20pm On May 08, 2013
dinachi: @PointB show me where it was stated that the soldiers acted under Buharis orders or where Buhari was seen with rifle shooting down innocent colleagues of his. You have to do better than just smuggling his name. Until then even a first class fool wont believe you! Sorry folks you need to justify your pay, work harder cos by 2015 when Buhari is declared winner your blood money payment to launder the image of Nigerias most murderous leader will be stopped. Enjoy your loot while it lasts!
Actually, Buhari had no order to kill those men in cold blood; he simply acted in his own free will, to satiate whatever demon drives him.

As state, the order issued by Murtala to Buhari and comrade in murder was that they should stop. Apparently, Murtala himself could not stomach Buhari;s blood lust. Read it again:

Juxtapose the above with the following statement:

At the outset of planning for the coup, late General Garba says in his book '"Revolution in Nigeria", Another View', that "We intended explicitly to kill no one. The aims were, firstly, to get Decree No. 34 abrogated; secondly, to bring the coup makers of January 15 to trial; thirdly, to accord due honour to the military and political leaders - especially the Prime Minister - who had been killed."

However, as we now know, the rebellion was anything but bloodless as other agendas took center stage when all hell broke loose.Garba insists that there was no specific plan to annihilate all Igbo officers and soldiers - although it appeared so to neutral observers from the way many northern NCOs (aided by some officers and civilians) were carrying on with reckless abandon and total disregard for life and property.Garba himself admits that they went "berserk".
Buhari simply went berserk disregarding the initial plans, of which he was one of maker!

so what is the noise about Buhari
Show us the senior officer that gave order to Buhari to murder the unarmed men. The leader of the coup (Murtala Mohammed the butcher of Asaba) was apparent appalled at Buhari's brutality, that he had to order him to stop. Pray, who gave Buhari the initial order to commit the atrocity?

The terrible toll his leadership exacts on the life of Nigerians. Again no matter your plan we will continue to vote for him.Even if you call him the devil we will still vote for him. Simply put, nothing you do will stop us from pushing his candidacy. It amount to idiocy and crass ignorance in my book to narrow everything down to party politics. PDP host a numbers of clowns and corrupt politicians, some who can best be described as ex-convicts or jail candidates. ACN was led by a criminal and well know identity thief and drug baron. The CPC are bunch terrorist and ethnic irredentist, while the APGA are bunch of confused people who don't know what the want. Thank you my brother,

The problem with some Nigerians, as evident from this thread is that they don't want to confront the truth. They want to sweep things under the carpet and pretend all is well. But we have seen history repeat itself several times in this country. The butcher of yesterday is still among us. Buhari, pretends to be what he is not. He is a cold bloody murderer of defenseless comrades, a bloody coward! The question intelligent folks should be asking is :

Does Buhari regret his actions?
Has he changed?
Or given same circumstance, will he kill unarmed men, counter to military ethics and convention available even in the 60s?

Attempts by various interest to sweep truth under the carpets, has led us nowhere, and will continue to deprive this country of genuine reconciliation and nation building. Truth has a way of seeping out and taking center stage every now and then. The truth of buhari brutish past stare folks in the eyes. Will the rise to the challenge or pander to same old prank of attacking the messenger?

Has buhari ever taken responsibility for such barbaric murders? Has he shown remorse for butchering his colleagues in cold blood? When did he ask anyone, let alone Nigerians for forgiveness?

I bet folks like you want to pass off the murderer as saint are the one quick to twist facts and reality. The truth is that Buhari has not asked for forgiveness, and I fear he is still same blood thirsty, murderer he was in the 60s.

Perhaps you can start a thread to discuss the other men involved in this murders or unarmed comrades possibly in their boxers and t-shirts. Personally, I think Buhari stands tall then and now. He was one of the original coup plotters. They did not intend for anyone to be killed, why did Buhari, despite the initial plan, participated in the killings? Was there a change of plan, did he get a new order, or did he simply love the sight of blood in a sadistic way?

If an individual either in the past or present attempted or succeeded in removing a democratically elected government and is now seeking to be democratically elected, that shows his greed for power at all cost. I belong to the school of thought that says "a leopard never changes it's spots".
You hit the bull-eye there!

A leopard never changes it spot; old habits die hard.

A man who brutally murdered defenseless men without compulsion will do it again, and again at every opportunity.

When he is not pulling the trigger, he is happily watching young corpers butchered in their their numbers by those who chant his names, and fly his banner.

And when he is not watching gory acts described above, he is busy plotting and scheming for 'dogs and baboons' to be soaked in blood!

Buhari lived in blood, live in blood, and live for blood. Is he ever going to be satiated?

Stop spilling your guts all over the thread. It has been stated times without number that this thread is not a discussion on Nzeogwu, countless threads have been opened to discuss the guy and the role he played.

This thread is simply created to expose Buhari as a cold blooded murderer, who without any prompting took the lives of his unarmed comrades, even against initial plan to execute a bloodless coup.

Prior to this thread, this role has not been thoroughly examined. I am sure many did not even know that Buhari butchered his unarmed colleagues, rather than arresting them. I hope soon or later some bright journalist will ask him this question on national TV. I look forward to listening to his answer.

Actually, a lot of Igbo consider Nzeogwu naive, and we see him more as an hausaman than Igbo. When Nzeogwu died during the war, he was given a hero's burial by the FG. Perhaps that is where you got the hero's impression from. Nzeogwu, Ifeajuna, Adegboyega and co acted on their on volition. They did not have Igbo blessing for their action.

Do you have any evidence to suggest that any of those unarmed comrades of his, who he coldly butchered, participated in the first coup?
