Welcome back 9ja_I_hail, looks like we have exhaustively discussed nomination. If there are no more contributions, perhaps we should move on to Part 2 - Code of Conduct for Elected Officials and removal procedure |
I hope this state creation move is not a fluke. I can wait for SE to have equally number of states like other zones. Anioma is welcome to join the SE. |
Please let's have more contributions. |
chyseth: advocate666:Advocate666 rant was very distasteful and smack of unadulterated hatred for a fellow Igbo. I agree we should put a caveat that should place a ban on such individual until such a time at all concern (Umu Igbo and the individual that abuse/curse) is directed at agree the matter has been resolved. I think 9ja_I_hail 3 year ban period should apply in this case. |
9ja_I_hail: @The first bolded, i have urged that you PointB be allowed to carry on as Electoral Commission just as you have been doing in the pass elections reason for the urge was given in the same post.Electoral Commissioner should be allowed to appoint those who him deem fit to work with.Ok. I get you clearer. 1. Let me quickly state that my conducting the first election was because, it was my idea. The second election was conducted by me because we needed to continue the lagacy. As soon as the idea become self-sustaining, and rules are set for every aspect of the election, anyone with ample time during the period can conduct it. Even if I elect to conduct, it must be guided by rules, to avoid accusation of bias, and favoritism. 2. Noted. I dont have problem with 'allies' of Igbo been exempted from nominating. But the challenge is, how do we achieve this without disenfranchising passive Igbos? 3. Who are Igbo leaders, and what do majority hold dear? These are same questions that Ujchief was asking. Do we have a collective agreement on what these entails? |
advocate666: I disagree. The only criteria to vote or nominate should be being an igbo. The problem with allowing everyone who claim he/she is 'Igbo' to contest is that some people are 'Igbo' by name, not by action. Moreover, setting rules and guideline help us pick the best people and filter off pretenders. There is no point allowing every Ngozi, Chioma, Chikodi to contest because they are Igbo. We must find a way to get the better qualified and prevent the unsuitable. We cannot rule out the potential for unsuitable people to swamp us with their multiple ids. So claiming 'Igbo' is not should never be enough criteria to polls and individual no matter the number of 'nominations' he or she receive. We must find a way to get the best. |
I see some people are trying so hard to drag me into their warped world of black and white, they want to get noticed. They need to try harder, maybe one day they just might be lucky. Ogugua stands Eze Nwayi as variously said, and what need to be done has been done, and more is still be done. End of Story! |
Maxi Odumchi, you are welcome 9JA_I_HAIL, Thanks for your initial and second post. I would have liked if it is broken down in pieces and brought up at relevant section. Sorry if I was not clear in the mail I sent you earlier, I like to clarify that Code of Conduct (Part 2) should rather wait until we are done with Electoral Reform. But if I get you point on Nomination Rules. You are basically adopting the previous nomination rules with a caveat that we forgive past transgression, and ban those engaging in new one for three year, accepting them back after a public apology. The challenge with forgiving past transgression is that those accused of that insist they did now wrong, and should not have been prevented from contesting ab initio. It is in this context that we need to define what constitute transgression. What comments or post amount to denigration? And should those who denigrate fellow Igbos also be considered ineligible, say for Eze? |
chyseth: thank you sir for your well articulated questions, i think some of these questions does not have definite answers, but can be overcome as we encounter them. what i believe is important here is the online profiling on whoever is nominated to serve the interest of all of us on this online forum. whether the person has all it takes to lead a pressure group, because i understand that what is causing the present hitch is the fact that some persons are mistaking pressure group leadership qualities for general leadership qualities.I like the idea of profiling each poster. But the question is what if the poster has made very few comments that it becomes difficult to read/profile him? Do we need to have a minimum number of post before someone is even eligible to stand for profiling? And what exactly should the 'profiler' look out for in comments of a potential nominee or nominator? At what point should we decide the poster is not eligible to nominate or be nominated? |
advocate666: I believe (contrary to my rantings on the other thread) that we should be very patient in the condust of these matters. We will be patient in discussing the items. But we cannot deliberate endlessly on one item. As soon as a shape is formed we move on to the next stage. |
It added that “under no circumstance can anybody, not even the president, deport any Nigerian from any state in the country. The right of a Nigerian to live and not be discriminated against is guaranteed under the constitution of our great country. No law can thus be made to frustrate or erode such guarantee. The Governor ought to know this and remain civil.” Fashola take note of this. Those who break Lagos traffic law should be charged with law breaking. Threatening to deport them is a no-brainier. Wonder whats become of Fashola these days. The guy is normally on point, might have something to do with Tinubu looting Lagos state while he aids and abets. Na wa o. |
PointB: We are still waiting for contribution. If none is forth coming, we shall continue with the current one and amend it as we deem fit. Let those who have suggestion on the way forward for nomination procedure come up with them. |
texazzpete: Hopefully you folks go and look at your 'constitution' and see where it talks about 'defending Igbos online on Nairaland'. So tell me, why is the same fellow who says thisThe issue you raised is being addressed in the thread it was posted, and if it need to be added as part of our screen process, it will certainly be done. Allow us to have our deliberation without distraction. One thing at a time. Thank you. |
We are still waiting for contribution. If none is forth coming, we shall continue with the current one and amend it as we deem fit. Let those who have suggestion on the way forward for nomination procedure come up with them. Thanks. |
advocate666: My brother, this is not about the lection.Guy it about the election. You wouldn't have responded the way you did if she was not Eze Nwayi. The jury is still out whether she denigrated Igbos or not. And you dont have all the facts. You need to apologise and withdraw your last tirade. It was totally uncalled for, and like I said earlier, shameful. |
texazzpete: You're such an impotent tool. I swear, you're the WORST one of the bunch. Is that all you have to say? So apart from deciding how you respond to issues, you want to also tell me how to handle my own issue? Guy, fly out of my face. I have no time for uncouth clowns at this point! |
advocate666: Ogugua's response is a shameful indictement on the igbo nation. Especially those that put her in such an elevated position. My brother this is shameful!! Haba, all these curses because someone won an online title and refused to bullied? And election you did not participate in, nor voice your concern at the appropriate time. Election that you have not even gone through the thread? Na wa for you. Abeg quit this behaviour, it is uncalled for. No true Igboman will support you in these curses. You have crossed the line. And in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, no harm shall befall her, and all your curses are null and void! |
ujchief: Opening prayer...Thank you for the prayer. Maxi Ujchief. As co-moderator of this section let me open the floor. The incoming Eze Nwayi is the other moderator. As many of us are aware, there were issues emanating from our last election. There were those who felt the nomination rules were too exclusive, others argued that it was drafted by few to favour few. We should not dwell on the right and wrong of those position. Rather let us draft a fresh set of Nomination Rule for or flagship Eze Ndi Igbo Election. For sake of reference, the last nomination rules is included below: A forumer shall be eligible to nominate 2The question is how do we prevent the wrong people from nominating our Eze? How do we prevent getting the wrong persons nominated? How do we check/prevent/punish nomination from multiple ids, and how do we disqualify a nominee? These are few questions I would like us to answer. And of course we can add our own question. The floor is open. Thank you all Due to the fact that moderators will trying to pick suggestions, let them be as clear as possible. Outlines and bullet points will really help. |

ujchief: - PART 3 – Other Matters –You are welcome my very able ujchief. |
afam4eva: Pls there's a cyber troll on this thread, so ya'll should ignore his bottom. My brother you are welcome. I hope you've notice that you have a big role to play in this reform. You and 9ja_I_hail are handling the toughest part. Just kidding. ![]() |
ogugua88: Checking in.You are welcome. Our task is to as much as possible clarify and compile suggestions. In doing so, premium must be paid at suggestion from Igbo posters as they are the catchment area. However sensible suggestion from non Igbo posters should also be taken into consideration. Trolls will of course attempt to derail the process, and some usually decent poster of Igbo origin may also stoke embers of division, but we must forge ahead. That's the drill. Again you are welcome. |
Thank you again Eze OnlyTruth for the go ahead. @Ogidiboy, Your comment and support at this point is highly welcome. Indeed it's been a hectic period these past few days, but when you are guided by passion for service for the greater good of your people, you can only be motivated to do better. There have been pressure from quarters that we take a haphazard knew jerk approach to resolving our disagreement; yet others have threatened brimstone and fire should the cabinet act against their entrenched positions. One thing many of us fail to appreciate is the quality patience, planning and timely execution. The council believe the best way of addressing our disagreement is not by being reactive, rather by been proactive, and turning this challenges into opportunity. Umu Igbo, we are not there yet. Our process needs reform, it need your input. We need to move forward from where we are. Our first task is to establish rules and guidelines for Nomination into the Eze position. To moderate this section (Part 1) will be the responsibility of myself (PointB) and incoming Eze Nwayi - Ogugua. We seek you maximum co-operation and also urge that we restrain our self from falling victims of taunts from those our brother Maxi Dede1 popularly refers to as 'dingbats.' Due to the importance of this summit, I will urge the next Igbo poster to commit this session to the God of our ancestors - Chukwu (the Supreme God). Part One which seek guideline for the following: - - Qualifications to nominate - - Qualification to be nominated as Eze Ndi Igbo and Eze Nwayi Candidate - - Grounds for disqualification from being nominated or nominating - - Electoral Commissioner – Appointment and Tenure - - Voting procedures and tallying - - Criteria for discounting of vote(s), etc - - Electoral Tribunals – Appointment, - - Responsibility, - - Power and - - Tenure, etc is hereby formally declared opened: Let us now turn our attention - Who qualifies to nominate a leader for Umu Igbo? How do we ascertain or refute such assumed qualification in a faceless, anonymous forums? Umu Igbo Due to the importance of this summit, I will urge the next Igbo poster to commit this session to the God of our ancestors - Chukwu (the Supreme God) before proceeding. Thank you all and shall we begin? |
Umu Igbo, We we started the journey of Eze Ndi Igbo, it began like a joke. However, with OnlyTruth premier ship and with a successful election we have been able to fine tune to some extent the office of Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland. It is in similar fashion that we agreed to test run Eze Nwayi position during the last election. The overriding thought behind the Eze Nwayi was that - we will be able to fine tune and make it work. Many of our women shied away from post as they did not want to sail uncharted waters. However, two brave Igbo women did not decline their nomination, nor was there any out cry against them during the nomination process. It was however in the middle of the election that issues were raised of a candidate, when it was too late for the electoral commissioner to act on the issues raised. A pledge was made to work with the new Eze to establish ground rules for Eze Ndi Igbo election, and Code of Conduct after their inauguration. However, current event and emerging scenarios has prompted us to move this process forward. Let's assume we actually want to remove and elected official, Eze or Eze Nwayi, on what basis should we do that? And is that basis enough and generally accepted by all? What are are expected of these officials? How did they even get to be nominated let alone elected? These are the questions we seek answers to, and these answers will be there to guide our future activities as an online group. The cabinet believes it is important to get various Igbo leaders of thought to air their opinion to help us moved forward together. I would urge that we take every bit of it as important as we could, as we need to forge a common front. Let's go there - https://www.nairaland.com/1097552/eze-ndi-igbo-nairaland-electoral ** unfollows thread ** |

Again our premier Eze inspires us which his passion and commitment. I must agree with him that our journey which started like a joke has morphed into a big force to reckon with. I must give kudos to OnlyTruth for seeing the potential in Eze Ndi Igbo and helping to birth it to powerful force for good that it has grown become. Yet we must not relent, we must continue to nurture it. Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland is an idea whose time has come, and we are not giving up on it despite some of inherent weakness. On this note, and in continuation of the process of fine tuning, I enjoin Umu Igbo to spend so of their time on the fine tuning exercise. Let's go there! Umu Igbo About a year ago, we embarked on a unique journey of electing one of us as Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland. The idea ridiculed at conception, gave birth to Eze OnlyTruth, and has since grown into a powerful force for good. Only recently we began a transition process, which led to the emergent of another proud son of Igboland - Mazi Odumchi, the incoming Eze, and a daughter of our land - incoming Eze Nwayi Ogugua. However, the rules and regulation guiding their activities were either of best effort and some cases totally absent. It is mostly unwritten. It is in recognition of the potential malady of these gaps and the need to bequeath our teeming full bloodied Igbo people a legacy of rules, and guidance, and ensure that our activities are well co-ordinated, and self sustaining, that we embark on this journey of reform at this point. Umu Igbo, our destiny is our hands yet again, and we must stand up and be counted. Let our voice be heard, and let's agree how we must elect our leaders, and what codes of conduct we must subject them to. Let's agree what roles they are to perform and how we eject them when they become wayward. I must appeal, that in our deliberations, let's cast our sight beyond the office current holder(s) and look as far into the future as possible. Let's preempt changes in technology, and perhaps imbibe the discipline of scenario planning. Let's plan for realism, pessimism, and optimism - let's think tactically and strategically as we embark on this journey. We have done it before and we can do it again. Umu Igbo below is the guideline for this journey. Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland – Electoral Reforms and other matters GUIDELINES - Opening Prayer – Nri Priest (or anyone moved) - Opening Address – Incumbent Eze - PART 1 - Electoral Reform – Moderator - Incoming Eze Nwayi, PointB - - Qualifications to nominate - - Qualification to be nominated as Eze Ndi Igbo and Eze Nwayi Candidate - - Grounds for disqualification from being nominated or nominating - - Electoral Commissioner – Appointment and Tenure - - Voting procedures and tallying - - Criteria for discounting of vote(s), etc - - Electoral Tribunals – Appointment, - - Responsibility, - - Power and - - Tenure, etc - PART 2 – Code of Conduct for Elected Official and ground for removal – 9ja_I_hail and Afam4eva - PART 3 – Other Matters – Agenda for Incoming Eze – Ujchief, - Closing remarks – Incoming Eze Umu Igbo, the above is the guideline suggested by the cabinet as basis for restructuring. Shall we begin? |
Mynd_44: Don't you think the world has had enough of leaders who augar coat the truth?I am not one for cyclic argument. So let me play Kobo PointB: It is not about right or wrong. Politics and leadership is about finesse and diplomacy. That shouldn't be hard to understand. |
Mynd_44: So in other words, what she said/typed was false right? It is not about right or wrong. Politics and leadership is about finesse and diplomacy. That shouldn't be hard to understand. |
advocate666: My character and personal beliefs are not the subject of this thread.Issues are being addressed. And certainly not because of your comment cos as I said earlier, you do not have loci standi to raise any objection to her election. You were not qualified to nominate nor vote. I doubt if you even followed the nomination or election thread, let alone figuring out who was architect of what and what not . The where, and how of how this issue is been address will be revealed at the convenient time. And certainly character and personal believe of every one must be taken into account when dealing with their request - or is it not character and personal believe of Ogugua that is the basis of your concern? Maybe I should repeat myself. 1. This is the wrong thread to raise objection to the election of anybody 2. The Op does not in anyway qualify to raise any objection let alone a motion The issue is being addressed. |
