Welcome to our Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland Polling Center.

How for the benefit of the process, here is a brief recount.

The Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland Election is organized by Igbo on Nairaland to nominate a leader among them, primarily for symbolic purpose. Put it this way, it is a reward system for stand-out Igbos, as identified by Igbos, for Igbos on Nairaland. The winner of the election hold the position for a year long tenure, starting from January 1st, 2013.

This year's election pits the incumbent - Eze Only Truth, against Odumchi - a cabinet member.

Policewoman, also will square off against Ogugua in the the contest for the newly introduced Eze Nwayi.


Without much ado, the guideline for the election is as follow:


OFFICIAL VOTING GUIDELINES

1. Election shall be done manually. Voters will indicate the candidate they are voting as Eze and Eze Nwayi from the list of qualified candidates.
2. Candidates can vote for themselves or other candidates
3. Only Igbos (and clearly identified allies) are permitted to vote. Votes outside this category shall be NULL and VOID

4. Multiple votes, and votes cast with known multiple IDs shall be counted as ZERO (0)

5. The Electoral Team shall tally the votes and may release regular updates.

6. The Poll shall be open until Friday.

7. The Electoral Tribunal will resolve all issue concerning the polling

8. The official result of the Election shall be released after all outstanding issues have been resolved in best effort.

caseless: aah-an...oga mi, is that an enough reason to disqualify a candidate who have met all the requirements? In ur outlines on requirements, i didnt see anywhere u said that actions, such as that of okija juju amounts to outright disqualification. U should have allowed the ballots to have a say here. U said it is not allowed to nominate, then why is it allowed to disqualify a candidate who is eligible to perticipate? Jst saying....

lastpage: As an "unbiased and independent OBSERVER", l recall that a few people have nominated 'others' and then went on to ask you to INFORM them by P.M.
You accepted the nomination but insisted that the one doing the nominating should go ahead and inform the nominated person!
You did not ask: Where is he/she. (with regards to One Naira's nomination)
Why are you doing that now?
Is it a change of rules that you need to know their whereabouts before accepting the nomination?
Just want you to clarify that.

First, if you recall, I stated it's not my duty to inform the nominees, but will do my best to PM those whom I think have not seen the thread. I urge others to also help.

Secondly,
"Where is he?" as regard One_naira nomination is consistent with my stance above. It means, alert him if you could, as I am engaged.

You cannot say for sure if this specific nomination was accepted or not, as the last update was well before that nomination. You can only draw a conclusion after the next update.

Certainly, the rules have not changed.

Onlytruth: @ PointB and other electoral officials.

An idea came into my mind last night (while watching the presidential debate between Obama and Romney). I think we should organize a debate between all the constestants.
In other words, I think we should not only allow the first three to run, but allow every nominee who accepted his nomination, to be drafted into the debate.

After the debate, we then go for polling.

We need to make sure that the next Eze is sound and well grounded on all fronts.

A topic could be: Should Ndigbo stay in Nigeria, or secede; for or against?

What do you think?

It is a good idea. But getting the nominees to participate in the debate will prove a hard nut to crack. It's hard enough getting them to accept their nominations. But I believe as this Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland gain more and more prominence, such will come naturally.

Furthermore, I would like us to stick to the electoral guidelines as set, and conclude the elections as planned. Changing the rules in the middle of the game is something I am often wary of. The longer it takes the more wary participants may become. I would nonetheless welcome manifestos from the nominees, at least so that voters will know where they stand on issues.

I think the new Eze should initiate an electoral reform as part of his mandate. So that we can strengthen the process of leadership selection, including adding your proposal, and keeping riff-raffs, and interlopers at bay.

If rule #3 is incorporated into the constituted guideline for electing Eze Ndigbo NL, I suggest the exercise is rubbished. The outcome of who becomes Eze Ndigbo NL must be manifestation of sons and daughters of Ndigbo. Rule #3 reeks of ambiguity to hell.

I suggested Rule #3 because I personally have no way of identifying every poster, let alone discerning who is who. However, since is appears there is serious objection it will be removed. But I hope we all will be vigilant in identifying the voters who don't qualify. It's a difficult task, I must say. So let's all brace up for it. Rule #3 is annulled.

I agree with you. And if another member of your team agree, we will adjust that part of the Voting Guideline. It only make our job a little more difficult, but not insurmountable.

On the contrary I am just a regular and very unassuming guy. I believe in what we are doing, that accounts for the time, and effort I am putting in.

And I agree with you that we can and should review the guideline after the election. I hope many Igbos who take side with you will make themselves available when we ask for proposal on how to review the guidelines.

One more thing, I have called for volunteers to help in the inauguration, so far no one has responded with suggestions or idea, let alone offer his time. PointB will be called all sorts of names the moment he makes suggestion, or offer his time. But in any case, I am not bothered. This is all online stuff. It does not add a feather to my cap, let alone a dime to my pocket.

But like I have said earlier on, you are found wanting according to the current rule, as many like you would have been found. How the rules were concieved, and thinking behind it have been addressed. Making yourself a victim, and shedding crocodile tears only get you attention, but it doesn't change the fact on the ground. We are moving on!
