Charles.nerd:As a matter of fact. I think we should have and Eze Ndi Igbo Electoral Reform Conference. We can do that in our Parliamentary Office (https://www.nairaland.com/934808/eze-ndi-igbo-parliamentary-office) after the election. What do you think? |
9ja_I_hail: If you are a good observer as you claimed you would have noticed that electoral commissioner tasked member of the tribunal to assist in making sure that the election process is going accordingly. My brother carry on with the good work you are doing. It's most appreciated. My light went for for more than 24 hrs yesterday, and I ran out battery. Imagine what would have happened without you guys. Please, any time you wish to update members with the nomination tally, feel free. Okija_juju forget easily that last year, I did everything virtually alone, now that we have an electoral team offering helping hands, he is still complaining. Show how hard it is to satisfy the world. P.S: Nomination is still going on, please let us NOMINATE our candidate for the position of Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland! |
Standing5: Egbon PointB, I don't get your point above, what is wrong with the idea by your own standard?Nothing is wrong with the idea. I think it's one of the most commendable idea from AregbeRascal. ![]() I like the name, just as Demdem like Retardeen! ![]() |
dbl post |
Nice one AregbeRascal. I hope he follows it through to logical conclusion. Though, I think the Northern part of the country have comparative advantage (land mass, sahel savanna, etc) in Cattle production via ranch, Southern state are not far behind, if a clear cut plan of action is put in place. By the way, 1,500 cattle is a lot animals in one place, the sooner it is handed over to a good private company the better. |
Imanuelle: Dede, biko, d void nominations, will they now be considered? Or thrashed away while u consider these new nominations?Void, and they remain void. But since the nomination has been re-opened. They can re-send the nominations. |
Those for the Non-elective Lolo pls like this post. |
Those for the Elective Eze Nwayi pls like this post. |
The Eze Nwayi versus Lolo Position The Eze Nwayi position is a proposal which stem out from another proposal for 'Lolo' The 'Lolo' is a non elective post, while the Eze Nwayi is and elective position. But there will be little or no difference in how the two position will be deployed in service of Ndi Igbo. Essentially, the Eze Nwayi will be more or less a female cabinet member of the Eze Ndi Igbo. Last year, the Eze extended his hand of fellowship to all those who stood against him in the poll to serve as council members. I hope he does same again this year. |
Let me continue by expressing my profound thank you to OAM4J the Mod, for helping move this unique thread to the FrontPage. I also want to express my appreciation to the Electoral team for holding fort in my absence. I also like to acknowledge those who sent goodwill messages and show of appreciation. Those who condemn or ridicule the process, we also thank you for expressing your opinion. This is a moving train, even I the Electoral Commissioner will be unable to stop it now. It has assume a life of it own, and it must run full course, and bear fruit - good fruit at that. The electoral team has done their best bringing us all up to speed/date. I would like to summarise, that as at yesterday, we agreed that there extension of the nomination which formally closed midnight of Friday 19,2012 Nomination made after that were all null and void. However, in the interest of teeming Igbos who have shown interest, and also in view of the dilly-dally among the top nominees, the Nomination Period is formally extended for another three days. Let me reiterate the rules. The nomination is open ONLY to Igbos, or those who have allied to Igbos cause on Nairaland. This implies that nominators who claimed Igbo may be scrutinized. A single objection a non-igbo nominator may cause the nomination to be voided. In view of the fact that this thread has hit the FrongPage, I call upon the members of the Tribunal to be extra vigilant in helping ensure the credibility of the process. Furthermore, posters with multiple ID are enjoin to nominate once. Identified dual nominations will result in voiding. I also call for self vigilance from our people to ensure that sabotage/infiltration is nipped in the board. Umu Igbo let the nomination continue in full speed! Ndewo nu PointB Commissioner for Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland Election p.s. Some people have sent me PM, I regret to inform you that I unable to regain access to the email used to register PointB. However, anyone who want to send an email to me should find PointB* and send such through it. |
OAM4J: Interesting!Welcome back. You can start by recommending this thread for the FP, and helping us keep troll as bay. You will notice that some comments here deserve to be rewarded with the 'hidden' status. |
9ja_I_hail: Agreed but i doubt if self nomination would make any sense.I think the nomination exercise ended so fast, extending it will make sense.I don't understand what is wrong with self nomination. It only count as 1 nomination. How many days extension does the Tribunal propose. |
@Afam, thanks for your input on the Okija issue. However, I think we should agree with what the majority of the Tribunal decision. Beside, the matter transcends Ojukwu being hero or villian. We have gone beyond him now. Let's move forward. |
If by close of business on Monday, the other nominees fail to accept their nominations. We shall strike them off the list, extend the nomination period and take more nomination. We shall also encourage self nominations. |
Jarus: That was very rude of you.Where I come from sir, it is called constructive criticism. You cannot deny the truth in what I wrote. Thank you again. |
FreeGlobe: I think you are blaming the wrong person here. Seun has clearly said the mods does not have the powers to move threads to homepage. Its the duties of a certain Mukina2. The Mukina2 cannot claim to be oblivious of that thread since she's always lurking the politics section looking for igbos to ban and always pushing harmful topics to the homepage. No sir. Seun said we should hold Jarus responsible for not recommending the thread. I only did that! |
@Dede1 The electoral team note your forthrightness and deep sense of duty in requesting to be withdrawn from the nomination/election; we note it with absolute disappointment, and deep sense of loss, even as you have opted to continue the struggle from the trenches. We nonetheless welcome your decision and would still leave the door open in case you have a change of heart. Nevertheless we must trudge on. We must see the process to conclusion. We await Odumchi and Pa Eziachi to give their thought. |
Thank 9ja_I_hail, I have visited the complaint thread and have dropped a piece of my mind. @Abouzaid, We are not going to be reactive. Besides it is not every Igboman that can read and write Igbo, let alone fluently. We do not intend to intimidate or discourage them. Those who choose to write in igbo can go ahead and should provide interpretation when able, the majority who prefer to continue communicating in english may also continue to do so. |
Jarus: Responsibility taken. I have contacted Mukina to look at it and consider for homepage.Truth be told, I think it's quiet disingenuous of not to do your job despite several pleas from myself and other members of the electoral team. To say that you were at the thread as observer and did post twice only to turn around and fail to recommend it for the FP is very unfair, and unbecoming of the esteem position many have held you. It's a big low for you. Nairaland MOD are expected to be mature and and fair in their relationship with users of the forum. Besides, the thread has run into 20 pages even without you doing your job. Is the traffic and adverts impression that would have been possibly generated by the thread by now if you had done your job since going into the account of any Igbo man on that thread? Seun is a businessman, I advise you drop your pettiness and do your job to assist his business. That is why you are employed as the Mod. Not to use your power to impede those you have beef with. Thank you very much, kind sir. |
Thank Ujchief for clarifying you stand. And thank you all who spent your precious time deliberating and offering constructive suggestion on the Okija matter. One other benefit of the Okija saga is the suggestion that the Electoral process be restructured. Personally, I agree to this. I will lend my time to any process that seeks to strengthen our way of choosing leader to ensure only the very best emerges. Now that the Okija matter has been finally put to rest. I call on the top 3 nominees to kindly step up and face their nominators, Igbos, electoral members, and other interest group and tell us what they think. Odumchi, Pa Eziachi (if you see this thread), Dede1, your people awaits you. It's time to accept/decline your nominations. |
Those driven by the sense of guilt and palpable fear are won't to attack Achebe. Those given to truth and sense of duty stand with Achebe. Prof Soyinka demostrated this much. No true Igbo son will open a flank to deride Achebe, and no true Igbo son will thump up the anyone who derides a man of truth. The attempts by supposed Igbo son to pull down Achebe to the joy of his Yoruba friend is akin to the proverbial dog seeking to taste Lion's liver. Achebe is world renowned giant, that dwarfs try to bring him down is indeed comical. Let me laugh at the drama. Hehehehehe. Achebe kinsman indeed. Nairaland is comedy central! |
abouzaid: The manifesto must be presented in igbo language only. Anybody that can't read and write fluently in igbo have no business being our eze. Onye ana rọ anụ igbo, afa ya bụ ndo, ife anyị gana ede ebe a bụ soso igbo. Ndị ntisa chọrọ iji nkwụgheri mebie ife anyị na eme ebe a. Manịvesto bụ soso igbo ka aga eji mee ya. Onye amaro asụ na edekwa igbo ekwesirọ ibu eze.The General Guideline did not say so. As a matter of fact, I think it makes perfect sense thay candidates who present their manifestos in Igbo must also translate it to english. It's important to carry as many Igbos as possible along. |
ebere1712: And after nominating a person like Okija_juju as candidate and his Yoruba friends help him by voting for him en-mass, who would be his followers? My brother, The bolded is what our Nomination Guidelines seek to prevent, and that is why Okija_juju want me out of the way, and the rules to be change! He doesn't want us to ask him questions of what we considered untoward behaviours to his kinsmen. |
@9ja_I_hail, I have noted your stance. I would like to hear from Ujchief and/or Afam to know where the decision of the Tribunal converges. |
berem: nne good nite!Berem, The rule only permits Igbo and those who are clearly allies of Igbos. I took my time not to count nominations of those who are not qualified. But if you think there are some oversight kindly point them out so that I can correct them. |
Okija_juju attempt to malign me, or hold the process to ransom by demanding my exit is well noted. Before, I continue, let me clarify that there is no personal gain in writing the rules, conducting the nomination and the election. There is also no personal benefit derived by me in disqualifying Okija. Perhaps we should ask ourselves as Igbos, what is wrong with guidelines, that seeks to identify and encourage those who protect our interest, and perhaps expose those will bring us ridicules, and create discord, only so that they can laugh at their sick 'jest' about people from other states? Personally, I don't think I can respond positively to such individual, on an account of a long sly speech. Since Okija_juju insist his continual participation in the process is incumbent upon my exit from the role I am currently undertaking, I'll suggest he wait until the electoral process is 'regularised and restructured' as he proposed bearing in mind that 'me tu fo, wu onye mege mege.' In any case, since I have sent prayers to the Election Tribunal (who contrary to Okija_insinuation, were urged to assist on the basis of being the very first set of Igbo who showed interest in this thread), I will patiently await their answers. |
@ujchief, The Election was brough forward to October in other to strengthen the council as some key members went AWOL. However we are not beholden to the MOD as per when we hold election, especially since there is no objection from the incumbent Eze and his council. The three days period for the nomination was announced prior to the commencement of the process, and it was extended for a few hours. I might be wrong, but I doubt if this thread will hit the frontpage, and we can't have indefinite nomination period. In any case, I would like to hear from other members of the tribunal. |
@ujchief, Thanks. |
@Charles, I think 12 hrs is fair enough. The process is self driven, and waiting for an individual for too long may cause other unforeseeable consequences. Personally, whichever prayer (yours or mine) the Election Tribunal chooses answer is fair enough for me. I just want us to move forward already. |
ifyalways: PointB dalu. Udo chia. Just for the records, I didn't nominate okija ,but that's because I think we have better candidates, not because of what he's said or not said in the past.Dalu nwayi oma, What an Igbo who represent us say about us matter a lot. That is at the heart of Okija's travails. That was his problem in the first election, same has reared it's head ugly head here. It simply mean Okija has not changed, and has continued to touch raw nerves. Ngbe Eze anyi si na ya aga gbahara Okija, e kwe re iwota na obu maka otu Okija si kpa agba. Manu nye nchere e ne me bu iyo Eze anyi ko gbahara Okija, o buhu iji iwe n'obi oku a gba Eze uka. O ga ni iru anyi, nu si n'aka ndi Tribunal. A nam eche ka ha sa ajuju njulu ha. Udo. |
Dede1: I salute you, my brother, for the manner in which you have conducted the task. It will amount to irony of travesty for any reasonable fellow to remotely insinuate you are responsible for Okija_juju travails. Since the nomination process has concluded, the issue of Okija_juju and disqualification is closed matter. My brother thank you. Even though the nomination is over, it is based on your appeal as one of the foremost candidate and other Igbos who have raised objection that I filed appeal on behalf of Okija at the Tribunal. I don't want it to look like I am the judge and jury of this election. I believe we all have a stake in the foregoing, and I hope everyone play their role. |
Let me get this process going again. I (the Electoral Commisioner) wishes to formally crave the indulgence of the Election Tribunal to answer the following the prayers concerning a candidate - Okija_juju: 1. Does the Election Tribunal agree that Okija_juju contravene section(s) of the Nomination guideline as set? 2. Does the Election Tribunal agrees that Okija_juju was fairly disqualified? 3. Does the Tribunal upturn Okija_juju's disqualification? 4. Which way forward does the Election Tribunal propose? The electoral commissioner urges URGENT response to these prayers to enable us proceed with the next stage of the election. As simple majority decision will suffice. |
