Thank you all for keeping the debate going. Please it just occur to me that we left out Motto, Slogan in the foregoing. A group like us should have those, to keep us focus on the task before us. We therefore need to come up with these 'items' as part of our symbolism. Our color codes is still up for grabs. Red (the color of earth) and Green (representing) life has so far been suggested as a combo. Is that a general consensus or do we have another? It also appears that ENYI (Eastern Nigeria Youth Initiative) is leading the race for adoption as the group's name. Will someone cook up a better name and acronym, or should we run with this? Peer into the future, and think of something. it's hard and difficult, but be not deceived by the way things are going today. This is dawn, not twilight. We shall triumph over the challenges. Give us a Motto Give us a Slogan Are you satisfied with ENYI? Or you have better name? Which logo carries the day? What is your opinion on colour codes? Let's keep rolling... |
I like the Rochas/Ribadu combo, looks like a winning team to me. |
We are still debating name, symbol, and color. So far no conclusion has been reached, but the ideas are taking shape. Let me remind us, that our Eze Ndi Igbo election started like this, but today we are here. What will are doing here today has the potential for explosive impact on Igboland. Our commitment is a critical success factor. Put on you thinking cap, imagine how you want Igboland to look like in 20 years time. What are you willing to do today to help achieve that? This is what this is all about. We are putting structure in place to channel our energy, thoughts, and ideas uniformly in aid of development of Igboland. Let this debate continue... |
Thanks to all those who have contributed in this debate so far. Let us continue to brain-storm and give more ideas. Apparently the leading symbolism are: 1. Elephant and tusk, 2. Trees, book, handshake and people combo 3. Iroko and Tusk 4. The Phoenix The name suggested so far inlcudes: - Oganiru Ndi Igbo (ONI) - Eastern Nigeria Youth Initiative__ENYI) - Oganiru Progressive Movement(OPM), - Ohakwuru Progressive Association (OPA) - Obi NdiIgbbo Movement(ONM) However, passionate discussion is still on-going around scope and sphere of influence of the organisation. Specifically, there seems to be an even split on how to relate with our 'allies' and 'friends' in the South-South. While some are of the opinion that we should adopt names, symbolism, and by extension and all encompassing philosophy, some are of the opinion that we should 'think and act' only in the interest of Igbos and Igboland. Certainly both divides have merits (and of course demerits). I will however appeal to conference members (all of us) to look into the crystal ball - look far into the future. Say 10 years, 20, or 30 years from now. How do we want this group to look? Centrist, conservative, progressive? Do we see a divided or united Nigeria? Does perception matters to us now, and will it matter 'tomorrow'? Perhaps, we would be able to navigate this potential landmine of inclusiveness versus exclusiveness, when we start debating 'Aims and Objectives' and 'Patrons, Power, Scope and Limitation of the Association' . The lists we generate then will give more insight about who and what we are, and perhaps our help shape our name. Let me dissect one suggestion that appeals to me so far - Eastern Nigeria Youth Initiative. Eastern Nigeria Youth Initiative. With this name, we can sell our ideas across state capitals in perhaps all the old Eastern Region, in the long run. Nigeria Youth Initiative - With this we can sell in the long term sell to Nigeria Youth Initiative - This will have global appeal in the long run In contrast... Oganiru Ndi Igbo Oganiru Progressive Movement(OPM), Ohakwuru Progressive Association (OPA) Obi Ndi Igbo Movement(ONM) The above may appeal to many Igbos, but may not have strategic reach. Besides, there is no guarantee that some local Igbo groups have not adopted some of these names. They seem quite generic. Basically, I prefer we choose a broad based name, even while acting locally. If Nigeria remains one, who says we will not eventually act nationally? On this note, I will encourage us to think strategically, not tactically. Lets 'think globally, while acting locally!' |
nedu210: You are totally right afam, this course should be for ndiigbo and ndiigbo alone, we always get our selves into problem when we trust people we shouldn't trust and think about those that don't care or think about us. We should always apply our ako na uche in all our dealing.
Nedu Nwa nne, Awota ra m ihe kwuru. Ya buru ihe otutu anyi choro, nsewu adighi. If this is what the majority want; we'll see how it fits in. However, we still have to debate further on this in when we get to "Membership and Eligibility" in Article 3 |
Onlytruth: Umu Igbo mma mma nu o!I agree with Eze OnlyTruth, Each Article will run for three days. Better we have a solid foundation than hurriedly laying the stones. So let's keep the suggestions coming |
So far these are the names suggested. - OGANIRU PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT(OPM), - OHAKWURU PROG.ASSOCIATION(OPA),OBI NDIIGBO MOVEMENT.(ONM) - Eastern Nigeria Youth Initiative (Enyi) Ok, the symbols are shaping up. An Elephant with trunk representing - strength and wisdom, and cultural implication A Phoenix representing - undying zeal and passion, rebirth and Renaissance - a new Igbo https://www.theartofaudacity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/phoenix.png Let's keep them coming... |
RibaduFan: Sent the mail yesterday, but unfortunately Seun is yet to effect the change. But why do you want to change your name? You regret being a Ribadu fan? |
noiseless: Malam Nasiri Hell Rufai, must you always insult people first, just because they always tear your jaw with superior uppercuts whenever you tried to iritate them with your mosquito below belt punches? by the way no one can go and drag out anyone who hasn't come online to get involved yet.Let's ignore people like him. They are just attention seeking little kids. |
My people, let's not get distracted. Let's keep the suggestions coming. It looks like symbol is taking shape. We still need to come up with progressive name, and color. Let's not dwell so much on membership today; membership and eligibility will feature in Article 3. |
jmaine:My brother na so we see am. Retardeen this, drunken fisher man that. Criticism without a single clue what governance of a country is about is all you get from them. Na wa oo |
Mandelaguy: you are right brother. This is not for the faint hearted! At all man. Criticing GEJ is big business; attempts to ruin someone's lucrative business is naturally met with strong counter-attack. Therefore what is acceptable in the forum is to blame GEJ for the bad storm, too much sun, too much pepper in your soup, inability to satisfy your wife, etc. Criticing GEJ is so big a business that an industry can be built around it. ![]() |
achi4u: @PointB I do buy the ideas of Afam4eva to save our neck first___but main looking at it,Igbos traverses across other region of SS state;many of them have started seeing themselves as not igbos because the center couldnot hold(Biafra),after that civil war.I perfectly understand the sentiments and logic expressed. And I thank you and Afam for your position. While I have noted it, I want as many people as possible to express their thoughts on this matter. |
Welcome to the club guys; You are even lucky to be called GEJ apologists; soon you will be called something worse. If you don't have the thick skin of a Rhino, you are in the wrong territory. You are advised to turn back or continue at your own risk. ![]() |
^^^ Thank achi4u, Let's hope for more contributions. Name, symbols, and colours are still up for grabs. Let's have our say |
afam4eva: This is the mistake Igbos keep making and that's what has gotten us to where we are presently. This is an Ndi Igbo group and does not concern any other group no matter how close they are to Igbos. We should lookout for our neck first before including anyone. If they want to join us in the future then we can work together(as an Igbo group). Let this group be for Igbos in the south-east and verified Igbos in the south-south.We are doing this for Igbos basically, but a wise man will nevertheless try to see the future. We have also said severally that what is good for Igbo is good for Nigeria. In other words, we do what we can best do for Igbos, while not also alienating potential friend. Yes we an Igbo group, yes we can accommodate other SS groups, if and when they wish to join us. However, if the overwhelming opinions is to the contrary, then that's a different matter. |
jmaine: Wonder why peeps get jittery with Pro GEJ supporters . . . . .Are you guyz scared of meeting fire with even more fire . . . .Well put! ![]() |
If it wasn't bribe, why was Otedola;s companies removed from the list? Facrook the son of Liar! ![]() |
afam4eva: When you say allies, are you referring to Igbos in the south-south or other groups? The Igbos in South South are NOT our allies, or friends. They are US; they are Igbos. I am referring to other South South (ethnic) groups, who may in future wish to buy into our cause. |
ACM10: PointB, well done. I love your organisational ability. More grease to your elbows.Thank you. But this is not about me. It's about us. My 'organisational ability' without your input will not take us far. Let's give our input. What shall we call our group? Should it be an Organisation, a Movement, Society, a ...? |
ogugua88: No. I said multitask.Ogugua, you spoke for many 'Igbo youth', and like I said, it will be a strategic mistake to exclude them on that ground. Meanwhile, the drafting has already started. Yesterday was DAY 0. Today is DAY 1 I suppose Language can also be added as part 'Symbols' - say Other Symbols. My fear really is that we want dont want to also alienate some of our strategic partners in the SS. Name, Symbol and Language should come with lots of circumspect. It should also feature in the objective. How do u suppose we could add it? What language. |
Today Friday is the day 1 of our Constitution Conference. From the Guideline: Day 1. Article 1: Name, and symbol(s) (including color) (pls bear in mind that we prefer name acceptable to our allies especially from SS) We shall deal begin with Article One: Let's us provide answers/suggestion to the following What name shall we call this group? Why? What symbol shall we adopt? Elephant, Spear, Chainsaw, Internet, Pen, etc? How will the symbols be presented? Let's advance reasons for our suggestions. Perhaps we don't need a symbol? Do we need colors codes in our symbols? What will the colors mean? Ideas are welcome from every corner of the globes, from friends, allies, and even 'foes'. Let's us begin! |
ebere1712: Onye igbo ga asu igbo (you must speak igbo to be part of igbo society, atleast you must show a willigness to learn). Enough with these numerous igbo efulefu.Mazi Ebere, O di nma ka onye Igbo i su Igbo; ma nu o ka sha nma ka onye Igbo i buru Igbo ni obi na ishi . Chekwata, na ayin were ndi ebe ayin na asu Igbo ofu ma, manu efulefu he ka njo. Translation: Mr Ebere, It is good that Igbos speaks Igbo, but it's much better that Igbos are Igbo in hearts and in their heads. Remember that we have some of our people who speaks Igbo very well but are more 'efulefulistic'. |
afam4eva: To be called an Igbo, you need to possess some Igbo attributes which includes being able to speak the language. If you don't possess this attributer and you're not willing to possess it then calling you an efulefu in in other because people like you may ending selling and snitching on Igbos. Btw, were you not the one that said that Igbos should throw away their agitation in the dustbin to pursue a nationalistic course?Mazi Afam, We have dealt severally with this issue and we agreed that speaking of our language (Igbo) though very important, is not the only determinant of being called Igbo. We encourage those who cannot speak it to learn, those who cannot well to improves, and those who speak it to advance, and perhaps teach other how to. Exclusion based on 'language' will only deny us of critically man-power, and intellect, needed for development. Let's not alienate one another further; we should not be divided on many fronts. As for Ogugua, she has come to her brethren, and siblings and perhaps elders; she has identified with us, we cannot cast her aside. Let's stop casting aspersion at her initial 'indiscretion', passionate people are often like that. Let's move forward to bigger and more critical things like how to develop Igboland; how to turn Igboland to not just to being the gateway to Nigeria, but the final destination. Let us use the opportunity provided by the drafting of the constitution to express our desire and aims for our dear homeland and country. Let decide how to pursue those ambition. Let us ... |
@Op, That's not a bad idea. Should that happen, the can only be one of the two outcomes below: 1. The Dog and the Baboon will be soaked in blood or 2. The Dog and the Baboon will have a feast. Either way, I care less! |
Umunna na Umunne m, Ekele m unu , Starting from 8.00 GMT tomorrow, we shall begin take a step further in line with the journey we embarked about 6 months ago. As you are aware last December, we took a historic step towards unifying and promoting our peculiar interest by electing an Eze. The important step led to the birth of Eze Ndi Igbo 1, of Nairaland - Onlytruth, ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland, Eze Ndigbo Nairaland. Within his first week in office, Eze OnlyTruth, assembled his cabinet and has since never looked back. Those who have followed development since would agree that his impact has been roundly felt in his this portfolio. However, the need for continuity, preservation, and to some extent legitimacy has informed the need for us to (re)write the rules. On this note, I enjoin my brethren, allies, and friends of Igbo to join us as we embark on Premier Nairaland Constitution Conference. Let us set the rule for our group, empower it, and use it to launch serious offensive against our politicians whose kleptomania, corruptions, and incompetence rob us and our allies our legitimate dividend of democracy and one Nigeria. To make this process more productive, the time table below shall guide us: We should be starting this process on Friday (8.00 GMT or thereabout?) Day 0. We sensitive members tomorrow and establish the ground rules for the constitution drafting. Day 1. Article 1: Name, and symbol(s) (including color) (pls bear in mind that we prefer name acceptable to our allies especially from SS) Day 2: Article 1 continued: Aims, Objectives, and Affiliation(s) of the Association Day 3: Article 2: Patrons, Power, Scope and Limitation of the Association Day 4: Article 3: Membership and Eligibility Day 5: Article 4: Officer, Cabinet Members and responsibilities Day 6: Article 5: Meetings and Quorom Day 7: Article 6: Terms of Office and Elections, Removal from office Day 8: Article 7: Hand-Over Process and Continuity Day 9 Article 8: Finance ? Day 10: Article 9: Amendment of Constitution Day 11: Article 10: Dissolution Day 12: Debate closes collation begins, Should you wish to assist in moderation and collation of the debates, kindly inform me on this thread. The plan is to keep the debate on this thread, however, we may create another thread if necessary. Time is of essence. The Pre Nairaland Constitution Conference debate is hereby now open. Shall we begin? Please visit our Parliamentary Office below to make your contribution: https://www.nairaland.com/934808/eze-ndi-igbo-parliamentary-office/10#11262078 |

That's a good one. Imagine the number of people that would be employed during the construction phase alone. Great news for the SW, and Nigeria in general. |
