Can we put things in perspective here pls. Who wants power back - the North or Hausa/Fulani? Frankly speaking they are not one and the same. |
Subscribing... Let's try to ignore children like Chino11, and Balla. @spyder880, Spin your Owerri web. We can't wait... |
I wonder what we expect when we have a 'Gbanjo' as judge in billion naira cases. Buying off the judge 'cheaply' is not beyond the reach of these stup1dly rich oil susbidy thieves. That said, if corruption (and terrorism) must be tackled, it must be confronted from all angles - all arms of the goverment! Granting frivolous bails to economic saboteurs (and terrors suspects) as frequently done by the judiciary is very bad, discouraging, and outrightly dangerous. It must cease! Imagine the political capital expended by the presidency to send his alleged campaign sponsors and partymen men to the dryer, only for the judiciary to allow these guys rooms to roam about and influence things with their loots. How can we corruption be tackled with these sort of behaviour? Anyway, I have advocated it, and will continue to propose it - the honey pot has to be removed c0ompletely! Fuel subsisdy and other unnecessary subsidies including pilgrimage must go! Those are breeding for corruption and ineptitude in the system. Until we remove the cause, the symptoms will persist. Well, GEJ (and those advising him) should not relent. The cat is out of the bag, relenting will be a serious political miscalculation on his part. If you think the recent impeachment threat against the president is not connected to his attempt to move against oil thieves, think again! |
@op Those who believe that Nigeria will be better off with the bigot murderer and ex-dictator are first group to view people from that angle. Secondly, those who have a hand in the betrayal of Ribadu are proned to attack people like you, to mask their guilt. Bottomline, there is nothing to regret in the most pramatic, and astutely strategic move to vote GEJ. The revelations and cleansing that is happening in the oil sector is part of the benefit of this move. Let hope the judiciary lend the critically need support in this calculated moves to expose oil subsidy thieves and bring them to book. |
I think those protesters are just been fanatic and capitalizing on the BH issue to blackmail the government. If the mosque is build on grounds marked for demolition, it should give way. No sentiment, blackmail or threat should deter the government of Anambra state from cleaning the eyesore that is bridge head. Btw the Boko Haram and other muslim fanatics need not use the demolition of the mosque to attack Southerners or Igbo, they have tonnes of ridiculous reasons for their bloodletting agenda. Yet we stand; and must move on. The Anambra State is well advised to proceed with 'Godspeed' in his beautification process. Boko Haran can not stop them. We don't die, Igbos, we multiply! |
Lol @ thread. I think Demdem is a 'Retardeen' Chorister. Make I report myself: PointB: Son of a Black Smith. |
***yawns*** at thread. Reaches for cassava bread and groundnut with glass of water. "Only Impeachment, why not infringement?" Yawns. "Nonsense thread." |
Seun will consider that possibility when he's gotten enough revenue, and wouldn't mind dwindling from the politics section. In anycase, activity will shift to the apolitical sections of Nairaland. But traffic to Nairaland will certainly decrease! |
ROSSIKE: What caused his death? Shocking news.Learned he's been sick for a while. But his NDC Party has been covering it up (similar to the Yar Adua's case). Well, it's sad. |
Just confirmed from folks in Ghana. Quite sad. They said he was a nice and humble man. May his soul rest in peace. ![]() |
(Reuters) - Ghana's President John Atta Mills has died, according to a statement sent by the president's office to Reuters on Tuesday.http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/24/us-ghana-president-idUSBRE86N14720120724 |
shymmex: Even if he's allowed to seek re-election in the Nigerian constitution - do you think he deserves it?What kind of silly question is this? A man has a 4 year term and you want me to judge before the end of his tenure? Wonder how some guys reason these days. |
I don't know what the hullabaloo is all about. President GEJ is constitutionally empowered to seer re-election, and that is the crux of his admission, and should be viewed from the point of view. Now whether he would exercise that right is a different issue; and that is left for him decide and the for electorate to accept. Until such time the best some of you ant-GEJ troop should do is cry us a river! Can GEJ seek reelection? The answer is YES! Will he seek, reelection? I don't know Do I want him to seek reelection? I have about 3 freaking more years to decide! Give me a break ![]() |
I am really worried about possible spread of disease as the OP suggested. What in this animal contract some 'deadly' disease carrying virus or super bugs in their long migratory trek from the North to South or vice versa. Where does that leave the human population since this animal cannot easily be quarantined. Even to cull such disease animals will surely provoke another violent protestation by the mostly uneducated herders. As we move on into the 21st century, sanitation, and cross border disease prevention should be primary to all level of governance, and the governed. Acting today to stop Nomadic Cattle rearing, might save us tomorrow from potential cataclysmic event, if deadly animal disease jumps to man. We must act NOW! If however government fails to act, individuals should start making the very smart and healthy choice of snail, fish, rabbit, grass-cutter, turkey, chicken, ahead of goat, cows, and other red meat. These other meat sources are readily available in the local farms around most people in the south; and the practice of fishery is spreading like wild fire across the south. Expatiating the prudence or implication of my suggestion, is needless. |
Captainajama: I have been watching this your thread, the political critics will not rush this one because it does not have GEJ in it....anyway,state creation is a necessity, not by over blowing the whole thing, but by restoring parity and equality where it is supposed to be. The Igbo's need an additional state to balance with other regions....most people may not understand why it is very necessary, I will give you some reasons. You spoke my mind on this. I believe two states should be created for the SE Zone, if Nigeria is to continue with the entrenched Zonal system. Anioma certainly should be one of such states. Fair is fair! And only fairness will encourage unity and harmony in the country. In a situation where some zones have 7 states, others 6 state, it is grossly unfair, and unjust to leave the SE Zone with just 5 states. The implication is even more glaring in a country where ethnic and zonal affiliations, federal character, quota system and many other criteria which bear not kinship with competency, and meritocracy are employed in the scheme of things. This injustices must end, sooner rather than later! |
This tongue in cheek pastor has spawn yet another loads of crap. Probably from his arse, as a thinking pastor will not drag God into his desperation and idiocy. Let me be clear, there are still great men of God, who do his will and live by their religious code, under the direction of the Holy Spirit. But 'this one' who long 'prophesied' that the 'tall one' (Buhari) is not messiah, yet joined force with him in shameless attempt to foist him on Nigeria, is certainly no (longer) man of God. Bakare is man of the politicians. This gaffe is similar to his clowning about Obj dying in office - yet Baba dey kampe! Babatunde the son of Bakere should spare us these loads of weekly horse sh1t, it getting very boring. If he is frustrated and tired of living, an overdose of sleeping tablets will help, if rat poison is too harsh. He should stop wishing others misfortune! I now understand why people still go the his church, they go there to minister to a piteous sight, a lost soul - Tunde Bakare. I hope he finds his way back to God. |
This guy talks too much. How well has he served his Church? |
rhymz: It appears all the claims of Yoruba people being politically savvy is afterall a myth, giving the comments here, it does not take a super brain to decipher that some Yoruba people just like to argue out of context.Thank you rhymz for being spot on in this matter. What many (yoruba and Igbos) alike who based their argument on 'accommodating' don't realise is that 'accomodation' and 'tolerance' is already enshrined in the constitution, and as such should not be up for discussion. Besides, the 'accommodators' and accomodated are all serving their personal interest. And those who think or act otherwise only invite soldiers and men of the JTF to their doors - ask Bornu and Plateau state how far? Now back to the issue at hand, Matthew Ogbonnia merely imply that Ndigbo may opt to vote for PDP if things don't change for the better before 2015. What serious minded people should ask is 'what kind of change does he want? Did he ask for political appointment? Did he ask for better development agenda? Did he ask for favourable terms for Igbo business concerns? Is there any reason to suggest that any of those are out of place for an individual or group to ask on behalf of a voting block in a democracy? At any rate, he didn't even suggest voting an Igboman as governor of Lagos in the next election (not that it would be wrong), but he only suggested voting for PDP. And PDP has good if not enviable records in some parts of Nigeria ie Enugu, Rivers. Now if PDP can identify and nominate someone like Fashola, Chime, Amaechi, Rochas, or Akpabio as their candidate, not only Igbos but other ethnic groups in cosmopolitan Lagos will rally behind such, and PDP. Strategic group and personal interest will play a major role in 2015 voting pattern. If AC.N thinks Lagosians are ignorant of their fumblings in states like Ogun (air conditioned footbridge) and Osun (elusive construction), then they are in for a shocker. When Fashola leaves in 2015, Lagos will be up for grabs, and the people will in their wisdom vote for the right man, not party. So the sooner AC.N and her troop of 'accommodating' bigots started paying attention to the needs of voting blocks, the better for them. |
amosy007: go and talk abt tolerance in places like kano and maidiguri.. Ask them to form igbo community and wants political appointment there.. Bros wake up! Nigeria is to divided to be called a country. D earlier u understand dat the better 4 u to knw ur position.. BTW talking of intollerance, aint orji kalu d one that sacked all non indegene working in abiaIf Nigeria is to be divided so be it, many of us want that. But until then, live goes on for those who believe in a united country and are willing to live by such tenets. You compare Lagos to Kano and Jos, meanwhile I don't see JTF in Lagos. If you want Lagos to be compared to retrogressive states like Borno, start ethnic or religiously motivated strife and killings and let's have JTF patroling about the town and shooting like demented devils, then you can proudly stick out your tongue and vomit bigotry against the Igboman and by extension none indigenes. But if Lagos must continue to be a shinning light, it's residents cannot afford to pick and choose when to be tolerant and when not to be. The significant ethnic mix in Lagos will always have a say in the governance of this very cosmopolitan state, and people like you will have to live with it. People (including none indigenes) will aspire for the highest possible office whichever state the find themselves provided the constitution allows it. If Yoruba or Hausa man believe they have the number and leverage to exert political pressure in any SE or SS state, let them do so. Picking on the ambition of the Igboman due to fear, jealousy or other primordial sentiment does nothing to help your case. It's one freaking Nigeria our forebear fought for, we should live it, or end it completely! |
In any case Matthew Ogbonnia Idam speaks for me, and perhaps a lot of Igbos. Watching Tinubu pockets all those billions of Naira every month with Fashola standing arms akimbo and deaf mute is nauseating. About time this ungodly thieving empire being built by Tinubu is crumbled. And yes, Igbo people (as well as other ethnic groups, including Yoruba) are suffering in Lagos with this massive looting going on. Fashola is working, Lagos is flooding, Tinubu is chopping, people are suffering. If it takes an Igboman by the name Matthew Ogbonnia Idam, to bring it all to the fore, so be it. APGA and PDP have delivered in states like Imo, Akwa Ibom and Enugu, I am sure they will deliver in Lagos State, especially from the gang of thieves who currently hold sway over its treasury. Time for change will come in 2015, non indigenes will dump AC.N if Yoruba fails to see reasons. Lagos, nay, Nigeria is for all of us. |
Those talking about tolerance of Yorubas don't have an iota of idea of what a nation is. In a nations no one talk about tolerating another member of the nation. It's all enshrined in the constitution. It is not a privilege. Beside, I don't here anyone talk about tolerating Yoruba or Hausa for that matter in the SE and SS where they are in their numbers. In anycase intolerance can led to disintegration of the country. Unless that's what most want, in which case we should go it or tolerate the others ambition within the gambit of the laws of the land. |
In the end politics is about pressure, arm-twisting, and the numbers. What ever strategy an individual, group of individual or ethnic group chooses to deploy within the context of the law during electioneering is acceptable. The onus now lies with the AC.N to either to show this group what they have done and convince them of what they intend to do for them in future. The AC.N can however call their bluff if they think they cannot match words with action; or if they believe the electoral strength of a united Ndigbo is inconsequential in Lagos. There are many who will forgo their personal choice and go for group interest. This is politics, not terrorism! Attacking them will only attract sympathy from others and harden their position. PDP, APGA and Labour Party are other parties who may take advantage of the emerging scenario. Personally, I like to see what APGA or PDP can offer the good people of Lagos. If anything, I am sure they will seal the Tinubu conduit pipes! |
2500 hectares of land illegally acquired That's shocking. Perhaps the ape-man want to establish an ape colony. Wonders truly never end. Next stop should be the Library and the University. Impunity must cease! |
So why does it have to be 'built' in China? |
Demdem: My friend shut up. Is that a threat on PointB or what? By the way he supports the retardeen. He is just dissapointed in him of recent especially as regards his promises to igbo nation.Point of correction. I sincerely believe GEJ is doing a great job, and he has my support in his transformation agenda until 2015 when he would have spent 5 years or thereabout as President. My support for him after then will be up for review based on performance. As for the to 'threat' PointB, I forgive the guy, "Ignorance is the sole reason the rat threatens the cat." I am sure he would soon realise we are comrades in the struggle for good leadership. |
dedeike: You don't have sympathy for them but the law does. I have taken serious note of your ID and I await patiently the day you will come to criticise GEJ or any member of my party for breaching the laws of the land.Guy take it easy. GEJ is my man. Don't sweat about my ID. I am one of the smart folks who 'voted' GEJ, Rochas, Chime, and Fashola. I am "partyless". |
Are these not the same local govt chairmen that were illegally (s)slected at the twilight of Ohakim administration with the singular aim of rigging the Imo State election? I have no sympathy for them. In the substantial matter of law and legality, I doubt if Rochas has broken the law. Sending support and admin staff on compulsory leave only buy him some time to manoeuvre; and that in my book is astute politicking, never illegality. Those chairmen will only be a clog in the wheel of his Rescue Mission. Keeping potential troublemakers in check is what is expected of every shrewd governor. I see more twist coming up in this saga nevertheless. |
Okija_juju: Dont twist my words around!!It is not my duty to enumerate what Rochas has done or not done. If you are not on ground, or have an ear to the ground, google is your friend. And whether you are dunking around or fvcking around when you made that untoward and reckless statement, I care less. What is done is done. Live with your happiness and regrets. This is cyber, you owe no one no explanation! |
Impeach President GEJ? ![]() I love this joke. Infact, I will impeach the Pope! Day dreamers! |
Okija_juju: The rest of the Igbo Nations outside of Imo State know he is a fraud!!The most difficult challenge for most people is delivering at the home front. So if the people of Imo State are indeed convince of his ability, why would those not anywhere near Imo State dispute. Anyway, for someone like you who believes people from certain state(s) in Igboland are better than those from other states, it's not hard to imagine the rationale behind your campaign against Rochas. Anyway, "Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come." |
T9ksy: I sure would love to see how the igbos are going to "mobilise" the northerners to vote for an igbo man"Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come." That's the whole point. |
Another pipe dream! ![]() |
