Esseite: The subsidy on fueling is paid in dollars, freeing that affords us more FX for the CBN and the banks to give to the needed populace which in turn reduces demand with excess supply that results in crash of FX rates... I might be wrong on the process, please enlighten. Oga NNpc imports 100percent of the fuel we usr in Nigeria, they called it underrecovery. The last time i checked, there is no subsidy budgeted by buhari for 2020 and 2021 fiscal year. The issue is nnpc and ppmc or dpr not knowing how many litres Nigerians consume daily. What theNASS should have done is to authorise nNpc not to import more than 30million litres daily, by this action we will know the true state of our daily consumption. Our borders should be properly secured too so smugglers won't have field day smuggling our fuel to neighbouring countries. Nnpc is extremely corrupt, and buhari is the minister.. They just published profits of 287billion naira first time in 44yrs, how much is 287billion in dollars? |

seborrhic: Sometimes I just feel ashamed reading some posts on this site. The level of poor reasoning exhibited by some people will make you wonder if they actually passed through a proper school. How on earth will removal of fuel subsidy bring down the dollar rate? So if it's removed will those importing fuel now pay in Naira? The same pathetic dullards & reasoning was what made people acclaimed multiple certificates believe & assert that when Dangote refinery comes on stream, the dollar would come down and fuel price will also come down. I can bet anyone that when that fraudulent refinery comes on stream it would be found that's it's even cheaper buying imported fuel than @ d price Dangote would sell. They don't know this. Dangote will even sell to foreign countries so he can get more fx than sell to Nigeria. I heard nnpc wil be selling crude to him in naira, imagine the best brains North presented as GMD NNPC.. |

Esseite: Nigeria is in between a double edged sword and with the way the exchange rate is spiraling out of control, it calls for immediate action to curb it.
It has gotten to a stage that we are already suffering inflation much more than one should suffer with the removal of fuel subsidy.
Yes the exchange rate might only affect foreign and imported goods, but the domino effect cuts across the local sales whom inflate prices because they would want to stay afloat on purchase of imported goods aswell..
I think it's time to remove subsidy to free up the US dollar being pumped to subsidize that while pushing it into the market to stop the cartels and cabals championing the BDC whom inflate rates as they wish.
E.G - if a toyota truck used to cost 1million, but now cost 3m due to exchange rate, with fuel at N165/litre, I won't mind purchasing at 1m while I buy fuel at N300/litre which would curb smuggling alongside and dollar racketeering.
For the low income earners whom may feel they dont need the car but need the fuel at low price, the low rate of truck would bring in more competition, the availability of the dollar would crash the cost of repair parts which in turn reduces cost of pricing on other expenses that can be substituted for fuel purchase. People will still smuggle fuel. I heard Benin republic dont import much fuel, they solely depend on Nigeria for fuel. So even if they remove subsidy and fuel sells for 300+, Beniniose will still depend on nigeria for fuel. The only issue is let the govt deal with security officials involved in smuggling. |

Lessons123: I have a wife and blessed with a daughter, I earn extremely high and I am in a debt of over 2m monthly as a result of paying for a loan monthly to set up a business for my wife which has gulped over 30m and still a failure though this is the second failure of business opened.
I decided to open the business as we both agreed she should resign as her salary as a teacher was the same salary with one of our two maids.
The issue is despite doing very well financially, my wife always gives me issues and there doesn't seem to be any love apart from me being her daily ATM.
There was actually a phase when I had challenges financially and she was the only person to mock me.
I need your advice as the quarrels are becoming too constant and the severe quarrels are majorly related to my brother in laws and sister in laws. Mind you my brother in law has been living with us and disrespects me and she defends him. Also before the marriage she was a very humble and tolerating lady until the business was opened. Sometimes I feel guilty as my dad had to sell his house in lekki and is in the process of buying a house in Ajah because he needed only 10m to complete his house in the village, which I could have easily provided if it wasn't for my indebtedness through my wife.
Mature advise please. Should we contribute money and buy skirt and blouse for you so u can finally be inducted into Women's Fellowship? Abeg from tomorrow begin do at-ease when peeing, abeg don't abuse the mans4way of peeing. |

Lifestone: We reason with lots of sentiment as a country. In my view, this project is all about competing for the share of trade routes to Niger Republic which is being competed for by both Nigeria and Benin Republic. Niger Republic is land locked and will require access to Sea/Port through either Nigeria or Benin Republic. This is an economically sensible decision. The project is also significantly part of the LAKAJI corridor which was essentially designed to link Lagos to Kano to Niger Republic, that plan has been on ground before Buhari and it makes sense. That project will certainly pay for itself given the success of Abuja - Kaduna and Lagos - Ibadan experience. Abuja-kaduna is profitable today because of banditry. If bandits are eliminated totally and the roads safe, i tell u that rail route will be deserted. Land transport is cheaper in Nigeria than rail which is opposite of what is obtainable elsewhere. The lagos-ibadan too is applicable to abuja kaduna rail line, insecurity is making people patronise it. Under normal circumstances, only elites will be using that train cos i heard the fare is so costly compare to using bus and taxi to n from Lagos to ibadan. |

You are therefore paying Yorubas a complement with your talk . Of course we oppose the plan because we now know what GEJ is about to be sure he must never get anywhere near the Presidency again.
Those who want GEJ back are feudal and power-obsessed Northerners and ethnocentric, unambitious, myopic, self-delusional and sentimental Southerners.
The Yorubas are non of the above so your statement is just about correct. We are sane, progressives and dispassionately focused on the development of Nigeria above everything else.
We therefore reject a return of GEJ on that basis. Perhaps you can elect him President of Biafra or Ijaw Republic in future. Lol. The yorubas more feudal, power obsessed, ethnocentric, unambitious, myopic, self-Delusional and extremely sentimental... This can be seen how they all drummed support for a coup plotter, a failure, a dictator, someone who they all witnessed his first stint In office, a buhari that ruled by the gun, suspended every act of sanity and made the Nigerian state a joke in the face of the world leaders, this is the same man yorubas went n packaged to become the president with the hope he will die on seat like yaradua so the evil men can take over power. DissTroyer: Let me break it down for you since you are obviously Gov. Udom Emmanuel's sycophant.
In the 2018 Akwa Ibom State budget, over 10.4 billion naira was spent on overhead costs and on "running government" - which basically is fueling vehicles for convoys and paying P.As and S.As who basically do nothing.
In that same 2018, only 4 billion naira was budgeted for education. Only 4 billion naira! That's why schools, scholarships and bursaries are underfunded. Tell me, has Udom paid bursaries even once since his tenure began?
I don't give a shit about Akpabio. I already told you the Tropicana project cost 100 billion naira which Akpabio signed and it's a waste.
Attah didn't see much money so it's understandable why he's not blamed. Akpabio and Udom wasted and are wasting our resources. ---
