PoliticsRe: Turkish Textile Industry In Akwa Ibom In 2022 – MD, VKS Group by poiZon: 12:40pm On Sep 12, 2021
Faiththatworks:
This is the typical Nigerian story, what an akwa ibom citizen will not see around him in Uyo,a Turkish man will fly all the way from his country and see it.
Nigerians are too critical of themselves and their country, especially those of us who devote all our time criticizing government at all levels.
We must begin to see the good in every part of Nigeria,if we refuse to see the good things that can happen in Nigeria, foreigners will continue to milk and suck up all the honey in Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria
Am from akwaibom, and am super proud of my state, but u see most akwaibomites, they r killjoy.
We were in this country when the buhari led govt said Nigeria still import toothpick n pencils, akees setup a factory, pencils and toothpick were produced. Akwaibom man said why should the govt be producing toothpick that we can easily buy in aba, that it is even better to produce slippers than toothpick.
I asked him do u buy slippers everyday?
That toothpick n pencil project collapsed if atall it has because we underrated its usefulness to us. Udom isnt like buhari that is keeping nnpc refineries afloat even when its not benefiting the country.. Udom is a financial banker, he also revived peacock paint, the same akwaibomites criticise it. They said its not working, i asked them have u ordered for paints and they didnt supply u?
Thats is how u know whether a company is still on or not.
Kings flour mills came, udom urge akwaibomites to avail themselves opportunity to be partners with the company, they kick against it. So many people still believes kings flour mill is hoax and propaganda, as am talking to u, na igbos be major distributors for kingsflour mill. They order for trucks of flour, kings supply them, they transport it to aba, onitcha etc, akwaibom marketer will travel to aba n buy the same kings flour that he said is govt propaganda back to his state at a more costly price.
That is how opposition in akwaibom has made things so difficult for the common man.
Less i forget, my woman is working with linkage assurance, she handles kingsflour mill
shipping issurance.

richmond500:
As a Rivers man, this VAT sweet me but is the common man going to gain anything?

People have been begging Wike to pay pensions, he has been deaf to their request and punishing Rivers people. Now to collect money, he is at the forefront.
The common shop seller who doesn't know VAT, will be tormented by Wike's tout from now on, I like this VAT ruling but Wike's not doing this for the state, he is just being selfish.

Carry flyovers deh deceive Nigeria meanwhile ask the common River state man, u will know Wike is not trying
that's not what I mean, I am in support of Riv govt collecting it but Wike has selfish intentions
So when wike leaves power in2023, he will carry the state with him?
Na one of the reasons why North is more organised and sophisticated than us.
We asked for resource control, a southerner will say na only the politicians will benefit from the resources. Like is there any law stopping people from being politicians?
The North came out, proposed 3percent to host communities and 30percent of nnpc profits for frontier basins that is 90percent located in their region, an average northerner doesnt benefit from these, but they support all what their elites do. But we in south we r so myopic, we allow sentiments becloud our sense of reasoning.
Wikeis leaving govt in 2023,even if he keeps successor, successor won't be loyal to him forever. Rivers no be Lagos, where one man will decide who becomes the govr, senators and representatives.
Wike won't stand alone and impose these people and even if he does, in a year their loyalty will shift abi drift.
Godfatherism don't last in south south and south east.
Its better my state man controls the resources in my state, even if he likes he can squander the money as he like, than for aboki or someone who isnt a Nigerian to be controlling my state resources.

You don't get it.

Good morning. I have tried. If subsidy was soo good why do people like noi support its removal.

Besides the gas we use in this country to cook is lpg not lng.

Finally would you support goverment setting the price of your business for you instead of you? You won't.Yet you support it for the oil industry because you want cheap fuel.

Well it is costing this nation too much to keep fuel cheap.
Am not against subsidy removal, i supported it 100percent when gej initiated it but i was against the sharing of the proceeds between states n fed govt.
so like i said I don't understand how subsidy is stopping investors who got licence to build and operate refineries won't build...
Like i mentioned the nlng model earlier, LPG is priced in dollar likewise AGO, DPK and fuel.
Lpg was subsidized by fg all these years but NLNG was still 100percent operational and also making profits. It just launched a new production facility that will increase its production capacity.
So if NLNG could and was still operating irrespective ofthe subsidy regime, why can't those who got refinery licence can't also operate with the same system?

PoliticsRe: NNPC Refineries Generate Zero Revenue, Pay Workers ₦69 Billion by poiZon: 10:00am On Sep 12, 2021
Modrov:
No that is not how a subsidy works.

Right now we import fuel above N260 per liter and sell it at N162 per liter.

Subsidy is what goverment pays to cover the resulting loss.

Until 2016, the money went to marketers and NNPC. Since 2017 it has gone to NNPC alone.

That is how it has been since the late 1980s.

Also, to keep prices low, goverment pays transporters a fixed rate of money

Why the collusion happens is that the money is not enough and as a result stealing happens . When there is anything involving free goverment money, there will be stealing ( See NHIS issues and the Buhari favourite responsible who is not in jail because...)

From time to time, the subsidy payments are not enough.

In 2011, fuel cost 99 naira to import but was being sold at N65. Initially GET removed subsidies by raising prices to 140 naira. Protests by Buhari and his gang made GEJ to reduce price to 97 naira meaning subsidy payments went down from at least 34 naira per liter to 2 naira per liter

By 2015, that N99 went up to n132. And we were selling fuel at n87. Meaning we were paying a subsidy of 55naira up from 2 naira in 2012 january5

Buhari raised prices to N145, which ended subsidy till landing costs went up to N180 then he was forced to cut the subsidy by raising prices to N162 now. And making NNPC the sole importer and subsidiser which is why NNPC until last month was reporting losses.

Meanwhile because of rising import prices, goverment was owing marketers because subsidy payments were becoming more and more difficult. That is why Buhari made NNPC the sole importer

Keep in mind that this has been going on since 1988 when ibb cut prices of fuel to below the production price of our refineries. That is when the mess starred and thus starving the refineries of much needed funds. By 1995 the refinerieshad missed their turn around maintenance. And by 2011they were not functioning at all.

Plus why build new refinereis when it would break down due to the fact that subsidy prevents them from making a profit. Unless your name is Dangote and you have the money .

That is why subsidy is a curse and why i am.opposed to it since 2011.
So how does paying subsidies affect investor to build a refinery in the country?
Lemme use the nlng model, nnpc was subsidizing cooking gas in Nigeria all the years, thats why gas was cheap. We had nlng plant producing 400thousand metric tonnes, but they sold only 50thousand metric tonnes to Nigeria and exported the rest
Also gas is priced in have dollar,so even the 50thousand sold to nigeria was in dollars. The subsidy differentials was either paid to them or they forgo it as their tax to the govt. Has nlng collapsed?
No.
They have even built another plant that will increase their production.
So u can see it isnt subsidy that is making investors to build refineries, those given the licence to build refineries don't have monies to build.
Dangote that is building refinery, we know how he is getting the money from...
So even if we have 30 refineries in Nigeria, govt fixing price wont affect their business or pricing cos fuel and other petroleum products r priced internationally. The only difference will be in shipping and nimasa tax which will be cut off.
So if a refinery sells itsproduct at 4dolls per barrel, he knows somewhere in india or Niger or California, it is sold at 4dollars per barrel.
U can't buy crudeoil at 67dollars per barrel and sell ur products at a cheap rate cos thereis govt control pricing...
Dangote wont sell fuel at 165 naira even if there is still subsidy.
He can only sell at that price if the oil companies in Nigeria sell crude oil to him at 50nairaper barrel
PoliticsRe: NNPC Refineries Generate Zero Revenue, Pay Workers ₦69 Billion by poiZon: 9:19am On Sep 12, 2021
Modrov:
We have 20 licenses for private refineries (it was more than that) that haven't been taken up because no one wants to be forced by the subsidy regime and government controlled prices to refine fuel at a loss.

Plus, NNPC refineries are bad for the same reason. Refining at a loss.Because subsidy

But everytime subsidy removal has been proposed ( not the lie lie one Buhari and company have done)...Nigerians cry poverty.
Bro u don't know how subsidy work... Stop giving excuse for this pricing thing, marketer and refineries....
Pppra a subsidiary of nnpc takes care of pricing of petroleum products, if there r refineries, they will sell their products at international price, so even the nnpc price is lower than the refinery price, govt will pay for the differentials.
Refinery wont sell direct to filling station, u need to be a registered petroleum marketer n licenced marketer before they will do business with u. And when u pay, u r paying the price they give u, all u need do is take the receipts and present to the govt, govt pays d differentials to u as subsidy.
This is where the previous issues was, marketers colluded with nnpc officials and collected claims of subsidy for products they never bought.
Refinery will never make loss so far you pay them cash and they give u products.
Lets be clear on this.
The issue why we don't have people investing in refineries is cos the world is going clean with clean energy. Apart from dangote buildng refinery now which other refinery is been built in the last 5yrs anywhere in the world?

That's the thing with you lot: When we talk about development of the state, you point fingers of partisanship. You are not fit to even argue this because you get peanuts for whitewashing.

There was massive corruption under Akpabio. The Ibom Tropicana project which he signed with Ben Bruce's company was a failure until Udom Emmanuel gave the go-ahead for the revamping.

Oh! Before you fan yourself, Ibom Tropicana is now a PPP with the private sector spending and running things in the facility. Hence the alias "Market Square".

Just like you sycophants try to give credit for the revamping and uplifting of the General Hospital, Anua to Udom Emmanuel when in fact, it is owned and managed by the missionary.

As at early this year, a caesarean section cost about 250,000 naira. Also, at medication must be bought from the hospital pharmacy and they are comparatively pricey.
I have no problem with that. It's more expensive in standard private hospitals.

But can the poor afford it? Yet the government has been touting it like its project and saying everything is subsidized.

See, I have your lies documented. You can fool others but not people like us who research and publish these things, including on mainstream media. smiley

Oh! And for 2023, I have gotten many invites to drive certain things but I haven't chosen any. Until I am certain I can find one who isn't a cut from the old block, I'm staying put.

Total income for Akwa Ibom State in 2019:223.39 billion naira

.Exchange rate (dollar to naira in 2019): #306 to $1.

Akwa Ibom State income for 2019:727.657 million dollars!

Security votes per state: Akwa Ibom State receives is 21.6 billion yearly as security vote.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_vote_in_Nigeria

This is commensurate with what's stated officially.

If you can't research and depend on the nonsense put out by the sycophants who control the state government Facebook page then we shouldn't be having this argument.

Let me give you a tip you and most people don't know.

In 2019, the state government budgeted 2.9 billion naira for the 21-storey smart city at Udo Udoma Industrial Avenue, Uyo.

In 2020, they added 7.2 billion naira to the budget.

In 2021, the budget was padded and hidden, and removed from the official Akwa Ibom State Government website.

10.1 billion naira for a 21-storey Skyscraper which hasn't been completed.

Don't get me started on the corruption going on. I have inner circle details you would dream to read or hear. smiley
Can u tell us the corruptions that happened during akpabio's regime...

State: Akwa Ibom

Governor: Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel

Sector Ratings:

Health : 4/10

Asides renovating primary health centers in underserved communities, these centers are peopled with professionals who are more concerned about party loyalty and propaganda than actually serving the people.

We did undertake a study and the regularity of health workers in places outside the main cities of Uyo, Eket, Ikot Ekpene, Oron and Ikot Abasi is poor of the 31 LGAs. Measures should be put in place to ensure devotion to work by these health workers is paramount.

Security: 6/10

Since 2010, Akwa Ibom has relatively been the most peaceful state in Nigeria, with Uyo undoubtedly the most peaceful city in the country.
While Uyo is safe and has been so even since the time of Akpabio, that peace and safety should be spread to the suburbs and inner communities.
Ikot Ekpene city has been almost ridded of clashes. Eket is relatively peaceful.

Infrastructure : 4/10
The populace expected more from this government and while he is being praised in the media, it's because he seems to be one of the best amongst governors who are generally incompetent.

Akwa Ibom earns a lot but the governor spends most of these on vainglorious projects like the International Worship Center, the 21-Storey Smart Skyscraper and others.

He's tried to maintain some of the road projects begun by Akpabio but the projects aren't commensurate with the huge earnings by the state government.

In 2019 alone, Akwa Ibom state government earned about $443 million. For a state of 6 million people, if half was properly utilized, we'd be high up.

Human capital development: 3/10
The programmes initiated by government have mostly be politicised. I'd commend that most of the projects have been ICT-driven but being headed by politicians rubbishes everything and the aims - lofty as they might be - are derailed.

Education : 3/10

Agriculture: 5/10

Sports : 7/10
He's invested a lot in sport development, especially football. Akwa United, Ibom Starlets, Dakkada United and others in the state and now at the very top of football in the country.

But he's more focused on football and neglecting track sports.

I'm planning a bigger article for publication at some later date so I'd save the details.

Entertainment: 3/10
Entertainment in Nigeria has never been spurred by government so that's that.

Social services: 6/10
Rape, abuse and other such vices form a very key part of his administration.

He's declared a zero tolerance on cultism and many of these criminals have gone underground.
443million naira as at 2019 exchange rate of 303 is 1.3trillion naira.
Meanwhile NBS statistics released yesterday on what states got from 2016 to 2020 showed akwaibom got 800plus billion naira from faac.

PoliticsRe: CBN Lists Benefits Of Its Digital Currency, E-naira In Financial System by poiZon: 8:56am On Sep 10, 2021
milann:
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that its soon to be launched digital currency, e-Naira, will strengthen the stability of the banking system as deposits become more diversified when more people are banked.

The Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) will also make it easier for the banking system to comply with existing laws such as anti-money laundering, customer protection against fraud and ensuring the safety and stability of the payment system.

This was made known by CBN’s Deputy Governor, Operations, Mr Folashodun Shonubi, at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) advocacy dialogue series 4 webinar held on Thursday in Lagos.

The theme of the event was, ‘Central Bank Digital Currencies: Insights for the 21st Century Banker.’

What the Deputy Governor of CBN said

Shonubi said, “The Central Bank in its implementation has ensured the e-Naira feeds our economy and provides greater value.

“The central bank digital currency offers all the benefits of cash but in digital form. Every single digital currency is an
electronic version of the cash, the legal tender. When you make a cash payment, settlement is done instantly; digital
currencies entail the same promises and even more.

“CBDC offers a safer option from the privately issued cryptocurrency which have been based on the possibility to
enable cheaper transactions but have now been used for investment.

“The intention is not to eliminate other forms of payment but to complement the current areas of payment options, thereby
ensuring the stability of the payment system in the long run.

I expect in the coming days we will see rapid inclusion rates.

“For banks in developing nations, it will enhance their liquidity, efficiency in national remittances and challenge the
high cost of remittances as the world rebounds in the post-pandemic. I am of the view that the era of CBDC promotes greater opportunities, and the central bank must be aware of the risks and mitigate them.”

Speaking at the event, Lamido Yuguda, the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), one of
the key players in the successful operation of the digital currency, said that the e-Naira, which is about to be launched in October, would help improve the capital market when combined with vibrant inter-developmental policies, which would lead to financial inclusion, especially in the capital market.

The SEC boss said, “This is an opportunity for the fintech market to connect our people to existing opportunities in the
financial market, connecting our people with investment opportunities in other climes. Once we do that, we would
grow our market, Nigeria has 200 million people. We are blessed with a hardworking youthful population.

“This capital market would in turn finance the necessary infrastructure investment that this country needs today.”

What you should know

Recall that on July 27, 2021, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, after the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC)
meeting, confirmed the launch of its digital currency (e-Naira) pilot program in October. He also spoke on the importance of eNaira in Africa’s largest economy that included cross-border trade facilitation, financial inclusion, monetary policy effectiveness, improved payment efficiency, revenue tax collection, remittance improvement, and targeted social interventions.

Earlier in September, SEC, which had sought to regulate crypto on the grounds that they qualify as securities transactions, disclosed that the recent launch of the country’s digital currency, e-naira, is the result of its engagement with the CBN.

If this eNaira won't strengthen the our real naira, then it is as useless as p in psychology.
Almost all commercial banks have eplatforms were u can wake up and transact... Most of the platforms too have so many loopholes were fraudsters uses to swindle customers and most of the cases haven't been resolved by cbn that is the financial regulator of these DMBs... Spending monies again to creatr a platform that won't strengthen or add value to the naira is wasteful, ill thought and foolish.

A loose canon seems to be in charge in that country. They got the kind of leader they deserve; he wants to take short cut to national prosperity in a country not producing anything but collecting. Smh. He is even mocking IMF, his nation's major creditor that recently helped it out of covid-19 induced economic contraction when he was challenged for using foreign donations, diaspora forex remittances and international debts to buy Bitcoin ! shocked

Well, it is their wahala. They are a small country with a small population of just around 6m people so they can't give the rest of the world problem. His solution to the prevalent drug gang violence and poverty in his tiny country is crypto. So much for those who believe in white supremacy in the only country in South America that doesn't officially recognise it has an indigenous black community.
I can't just imagine President Muhammadu Buhari converting diaspora remittances of Nigerians overseas to Bitcoin and converting naira to Bitcoin, all hell will be let loose niyen. Hopefully, someday, those who are filled with bigotry and hatred for this great nation will not reach the stage they completely lose all in life before they learn to appreciate our strengths and successes as a nation.
God bless Nigeria.

The eNaira this govt is proposing nko and they have even gone ahead to hire a foreign fintech firm to setup the platform ignoring super local fintech firms... Do u know how much have been expended so far from the first day they sat and conceived this?
Have we as nigerians made any attempt to voice out this fraud that is going on? As a citizen what is ur opinion concerning cbn eNaira?

When they talk about vat, someone from Enugu and Abakaliki will be joining Lagos State to shout fiscal federalism forgetting that his state is on same level as Yobe state in terms of IGR.

Truth is that aside from Lagos and about two or more states, others depend on the federal government to pay ordinary salaries. That's how terrible it is
With ur assertion we need only 4 states in Nigeria, lagos and the 3 others right...
Those states have minerals that havent yet been tapped and harnessed. They have lands, they have human power, malaysia dont have oil, norway or iceland doesnt have crudeoil, but they r countries with better gdp than some countries with oil.
Lagosis viable today cos it houses 99 percent of Nigeria's port. If calabar, onne or bonny, and ibom deepsea port come on board, lagos revenue will fall.

We need to open our eyes as indigens of our respective states to make sure we hold our governors responsible and accountable, but sadly, our eyes are always on FG while state governors are stylishly mortgaging the incoming generations
So if u r from benue but was born and bred in plateau state, live and work and pay taxes in plateau, u will leave ur state of residence n start monitoring where ur tax isnt collected?
Federal govt controls virtually everything from security to finance and power.
What we should be clamouring for is for revolution of power from the centre so people like u wont come and distort facts and figures with unnecessary sentiments.
When Gej was there, everybody were accusing himfor states frailty and failures to pay salaries meanwhile they were collecting monthly allocation.
But now u want us to start asking and monitoring state govrs and leave the fed govt, talk of an hypocritic demon.

The people you see paying taxes are the 30% who pay taxes...plus the monies going to agbero and to the market does not end up in government coffers.

Nigeria, as a whole, has a tax to gdp ratio of 6.1% 30% of the taxable population pays taxes. Our tax level is so low that the World bank warned us. We are also a poor naiton because we are a resource dependent naiton . We don't use our resources.
Nigeria is largely a consuming nation, some states r predominantly civil service state. Unemployment as at the last check is at 33percent which to me is under-stats.
Its more than that figure.
Who should pay tax?
Should someone who doesnt earn a dime monthly pay tax?
When u say 30percent of the taxabke population pay tax, it means the other 70percent are untaxable, on what basis are u taxing them?
For walking on the road, or what?
Most nigerians live by begging, they r some that r surviving and not living.
There is income tax, aka PAYE...i cant be paying tax when i don't earn anything monthly.
How i survive every month is a great concern govt should look into and not why i haven't paid tax.

Am sorry, we r not on the same pedestal.
Nec means national economic council, chaired by vp, it constitutes the 36govrs, cbn govr n others. That others could be the economic team.
He chairs the NEC and he heads the economic team.
The president is the Commander in chief of armed forces, everything concerning security is being reported to the preSident.

Is Osibanjo the one making all the bad policies affecting BDC, Crypto and the likes? He has been the one mediating and protecting interest of the people from harmful policies of CBN.

Asking him to resign is like asking the country to collapse.
Doesthe president know how an economy should be like?
Osinbajo by the workings of the constitution is the leader ofthe economic team, if he sees some handicaps in emefiele's management of monetary policies, he should advise buhari to sack him and appoint whoever they deem fit to handle that position.
The ball lies in their court.
U don't expect emefiele to resign, abi did he campaigned or promised to make dollar at par with naira, it was osinbajo n buhari that promised us strong and vibrant economy.

The only way we can afford subsidy is if we tax everyone...from the very rich to the very poor.
We r taxing everybody in Nigeria.
There is nobody in Nigeria that doesnt pay tax, the issue is who r those collecting these taxes?
In lagos monies generated by touts or agberos from keke, danfo buses monthly is estimated to be in the figure of more than 100billion naira.
This is from transport alone, now all the markets they pay tax everyday from 100naira to 300naira or there about. If we add it we might be talking in the range of 20 to 40billion monthly.. How much is lagos igr...does these figures reflect in their igr?
This issueisnt just domiciled in lagos but every other states. In akwaibom markets pay daily tax, keke buses, keke and other taxis pay daily taxes, but these are not directly under the state govt but third parties which will later renumerate some percentage to the state.
There is alot of work to be done..
