I like your optimism. Those places you mentioned may not return that soon. Things may even take a turn for the worse here in Nigeria. You know why? Coronavirus cases will keep increasing in Nigeria. There's no sign it will go away anytime soon. Both the government and the people have refused to take responsibility.

The economic and social stagnation is going to remain here with us until a vaccine is found. All those social and economic variables you mentioned is what drives this industry. I'm not being negative, but I can only see a turn around when a vaccine surfaces. Things can't just start happening like that. It's no rocket science. In the end, only the strong will survive. A plague is staring at us in the face and it won't just fade.
Then its a general thing and we don't have to make it look like its all about Uber/bolt. Come to think of the increase in case, do u think Nigerians still care about the virus or face mask? Let me blow your mind, we practice copy and paste economy, once developed countries start going back to their regular activities, our government will do the same.

The new trick these oloshos use is to book you on hold before 6pm. 2 of them did that to me today. They booked some mins past 5pm when they knew they were not ready. I waited for close to 20 mins before one of them called to assure me that they would soon join me. Fast forward to 6.15 they called and I told them that I had left. They flared up. Called me all sorts of names and cancelled trip. I chatted them mins later that I was still around. To cut the story short, they became humbled. We went offline. And local man collected more. grin
Sure, I can make money of them, but I just choose to overlook dia attitude.

Lolzz.
Let me share one painful one I had.

Took a rider to FESTAC one early morning. (7am)
Then got a request from Lagos-badagry expressway. (destination: Ajah)
Rider was on the other side of the express, directly opposite FESTAC first gate.

I called rider and told her that I'm inside Festac, and I have to go down to alakija to make a turn, then connect the middle lane to where she is, and it'll take me 15mins ETA.
She said no problem.

I drove all the way down to Alakija, connect to the middle lane and drove to pick up point. Called rider two times, but she wasn't picking up. Few seconds later I got cancellation notification.

I got stranded and confused. I can't go back to festac, I can't drive back to Alakija, I can't connect to Amuwo odofin nor Orile, cos I'm on the middle lane. My only option is to drive down to Ijora, connect through Costain to surulere or connect through Eko bridge to Marina. And there was heavy traffic climbing that Ijora bridge that morning.

ETA to Costain alone was 45mins.

Me....
cheesy this one pain me, I can never try it, even if the surge is 5.0, I don't trust riders with some pick up... Anytin I'm ard that area, I cancel trip that won't enable me to use ago road out.

It may take a while for things to return to normal. 2021, maybe. Anyone using ehailing platforms to make financial plans or business decision in the next one year should better quash such plans. The hustle is half dead. It may remain this way for the foreseeable future.
I don't believe the hustle is dead, all it take is life to get back to normalcy, transport is essential and people will always have a need for it... Right now, no school, no church, no party, no club e.t.c our social life is almost zero and to cap it all offices and shops r yet to open, so if u think urs is d worst case, think about folks that have dia living attached to dis. We just have to chill and watch how things unfold. Its a year of survival, not profit boss.

I strongly believe anyone that is financial buoyant enough wont near public mode of transport right now.

I wonder if uber don’t know there is curfew. There destination trip is not available all the time. I set destination from 4pm only bolt work, Uber will say not available at this time. Me go just go offline on Uber, cos I’ll definitely cancel if the person not going my direction. Uber should learn to adjust. This is Nigeria. Bolt keep adjusting, that’s y bolt keep leading Uber.
Drivers should please go off on Uber, one have to sacrifice to get what he/she wants in this life... If we can survive lockdown, pls lock down Uber app, until sense starts falling on them.

For me anything from 5pm I’m already on my way home. Anywhere I am by 5, I must set destination to my area and keep driving, if I get a request along the road, good, if I don’t still good.

You are right bro. One girl on Sunday made me mad, I mean very mad that I had to send her a sms the moment I realized what she did.

I needed a trip desperately, I was around Idowu Dabiri by Sangotedo Blenco, request entered, destination was VI, naso I happy drive sharp sharp reach PU. Called the lady that I’ve arrived. She said she’d be out in a moment. Ok.

Five minutes later she’s yet to come out, I called her, she dropped the call and sent me a sms that she’d be out in a while, I should be patient, I say okay now. Reclined my seat, put AC on the highest and was just thinking about my life grin. I lost track of time by the time I checked fifteen minutes has passed, ahh so fast!

I called madam, she didn’t pick. I thought she was going to send another sms or she’s coming out already. Two minutes later I just hear pam pam! pam pam! Pam pam! Na request enter!

Ahh that woman don cancel and she no tell me, me I still they mumu they wait.
2 things happed to me during this lockdown, funny experience to me as I never tot I can get emotional again doing this driving stuff.

1. On a very good day after going to the island and back to mainland ard 6 30pm, I'm going to ogba, so I found myself ard Adeniyi Jones, this request entered, called rider, she's at Toyin street going to Berger grin I smile, since I already have 9500 on my dash board, let me just upgrade to 10k, since dis lockdown period is harsh & no one knows tomorrow. That was how I blow thro during that rush hour from Adeniyi Jones to Toyin street on a 10 mins ETA, as I was driving towards Allen, I'm just observing the traffic on the other side of the road (from Opebi rd abt to Allen). As I turned into Toyin, I hear the cancellation sound grin grin grin Jesus! I didn't know when I call the rider and almost cry asking her, why! Why!! Why!!! Why on earth did u do this kind of a tin, look at the traffic out here. She was just apologising "I tot u were still far away and I need to get another ride"... I didn't even bother to ask her, if I could drive down to her, I cut the phone on her and just look out for another ride, which I was able to get.

2. This one happened last week. Around 4:50pm, I check my dashboard and I'm just pondering worst day (3400 plus 1k offline) and if I should just call it a day, when this request came in ard 5pm, I put a call to the rider and she was going to Akoko from Magodo phase 2, think thro if I should take my chances and the need to get home a happy soul, so I check ETA and found out by 6pm I'll b dia and if I can't make it home that evening, I'll pass d night at a friends place ard Lagos mainland... Immediately I dropped her, I set destination trip and a trip of 1.3 surge with 8min ETA came in from oweh street Jibowu going to magodo phase 1, I don't think it took 3 mins to get to PU grin Got dia and this girl came out from a salon, ask me to park well cos she is making her hair and what's left is just for them to deep it in hot water, then pack d hair, I should please just give her 10 mins. Who goes me? On surge and card grin madam take ur time, no problem. I didn't know they were 2 girls, it took them 45 mins to finish what they r doing, what really got to me was when I sight them from the rearview buying small chops, I was just boiling inside like "abi this girls they craze or they just don't understand the intensity of what they are doing, after checking map, our best bet is 1:19mins to get to magodo and they are still doing this rubbish, ohk! Madness will meet nonchalant today". As the hop into the car, that proudful "Sorry oo driver", me: I'm not going again, I need to cancel this trip, I'm just waiting for you to get in so I can explain that lockdown is 8 and this is too 7, I have a home too or will I pass the night at ur place? Riders: Ha! Oga please don't do this, we book you because bolt will close the app once it 6, how do u want us to get home now? Me: how is that my business now, u girls acted like u just don't care atall, look at the time, if I drop you now and got caught on my way home, am I going to call you, I'll pay 10k to police on a trip of how much ( I'm just looking for a way to make money off d situation, but my church mind won't let me)... I let them b and drove them to there destination, their thank you was the most humble one I've ever received in life grin they just stay humble throughout the ride despite using long Ikeja route to beat triffic and lockdown time, they didn't even bother to ask questions (They won't like to alight half way) cheesy

No lie. I’m currently at Dolphin Estate now, every tree I see that looks like a good spot to park and rest has one Corolla driver or more parked under it with reclined driver seat grin

The waiting time no be here.
You have really crack me up today, I resist the urge to drive today, it wasn't easy after cleaning car, but I keep doing the maths in my head... People r no longer going out, not even visitation, olosho is facing it, once office's r not open, you can get a lucky trip of take me to 35km trip and back, but the constant gbam gbam can never b dia on a day like this. Secondly, there's no money in circulation, govt workers and some few r the only ones enjoying right now most business r learning how to work from home, I'm beginning to think, if drivers won't have to park and wait for riders on zoom, cos it seems that's where they have dia riders lately... Thank God for the America movies, I've always fancy the way they stack money and gun somewhere, all it takes for them is getting to the vaults or bunker if they need to disappear or in distress. That shape me to understood, all money is not mean to b spend, sometimes u just have to save for no reason and get ur mind off such money like it doesnt exist, I think human need to learn this trick, a lucky day does not mean u should blow fast, las las beer and pepper soup no pass 5k, but b very careful of olosho, d return get as e be.

If drivers have deep knowledge enough, I think its abt time to boycott Uber and pledge loyalty to Bolt, till beta app comes up, then loyalty will shift again. We both need each other to function in this business, with the way bolt is going after debtors, u can tell that they r broke with their poor managerial skills, both riders and drivers don't trust them.

The app is becoming more annoying by the day, but anytime you negotiate with rider don't bother to review otherwise you will be shooting yourself in the leg.
Because when they finish reviewing it the rider is long gone and they will still charge their commission

We keep saying it here all the time that waiting doesn't pay, even return trips doesn't make sense on bolt.
More so bolt have been working with the estimated fares, they try not to exceed the price suggested to the rider.
So if you like spend whole day on a trip in most cases you will regret
Bolt is not an app, they need to find sometin to do about all dis nonsense. They just sent a review of d 18th to me now, trip of 2800 turns out to be 3700. This morning I pick one stupid girl thats toying with is village people, she told me she is going to Ikeja, where by this mumu girl is going to a nearby bank and told me she only want to pick sometin from dia we proceed, but due to d crowd outside, she keeps repeating "No! Some drivers out of desperation will end up spreading this Covid-19. Picked up this lady today. She asked for AC but told her it is not allowed for now. Face mask? She showed me but refused to use it. She con dey give symptoms o. Catarrh and throat clearing stuff. About ending trip she Saif I would wait for her. I told her I couldn't. Ended trip. Waited small to look for another request. Request came and I was about leaving when another driver came to pick her with AC. On my way out, council boys with LasTma guys hook dem cos she no use mask. Dem even dey remove the driver's number plate.

Let's not be too desperate to make cash guys.
Lemmi confess grin I personally can't drive without A/c, not inside this sun and I hate that wave of the windows being down, so I won't use that as a theory of you can or can't contact the virus using AC or not... I think each man should take his chances, the way it fit, cos for some leaving the home alone up till dis moment is risky, very! very!! risky. while some Nigerians has #Yolo and even forget where they dropped their mask, Take note! There is a decline in mask usage as day's passes us by and secondly that mask is dangerous if u use it for too long, I'm not taking abt the Ankara own (That's if the chemical from the textile don't kill d user las las). I always ask rider to use mask, which they comply, if they don't have, they use handkerchief, but some riders r so forgetful, dat deh now make me feel like church usher trying to wake a member, I got tired on telling few to use dia face mask after reminding dem like 3/4 times (cos deh have dis habit of not fitting d mask back after calls), unless I'm approaching authorities.

About the Council boys and Lasma... I once snuggled it out with a Lasma and he said LASG ask all authorities to apprehend anyone without mask, but if u r alone in the car with ur windows up, u r free (Note : one zealous hungry animal will still like to take advantage). Now! Which one is Council boys with mask biko? We allow too many rubbish in the country, anybody will just wear polo and stand by the road side extorting people of their hard earn money and we let it slide (I'm guilty of dis), cos in my neighbourhood where I've spent nothing less then 20 in/out, I saw some boys/old men block an alternative route extorting money from bike men, police do this a lot and you hear stuffs like "Oga! I no fit go dia, police they disturb"... All dis nonsense is wrong, lot of people r walking on the road without mask and no body is harassing them, is it a crime to have a car again in this country? Everybody is hungry and looking for who to prey on, it is well boss, let's just stay safe, but we don't have to give in to dose Council boys, they have to known their place.

Inbtw: Doctors just went on strike cos of police harassment. We lack knowledge on the use of power in this country, too many egomaniac in uniform. I'm just thinking thro what happened yesterday at Ikoyi and what if any Bolt driver was caught in such situation. Rider can't go back, driver can't leave is car on the road... Rider think thro any available hotel? But none and decide to pass the night in the car, is the driver going to leave the app on or they will negotiate mobile hotel or offline trip ? cheesy

Bros this corona virus has confused all the scientists and researchers in the world. The virus keeps dribbling them.

They have not seen anything like it before.
Thats why Trump was angry with WHO, dt no more funding because WHO seams not to be on top of their game. With lockdown for months people still getting infected, dying and number increasing, How?

Let me give u one recent findings in U.K.
They found out d wearing of mask for too long will affect your immune system, that your body won't be able to fight germs and bacteria in ur body effectively if you don't get fresh air (oxygen) for a long time. so there is a tendency u will fall sick (not corona) if you wear mask for too long.
So they came up to say only wear mask in public places and enclosed places but if u are two meters apart from people remove ur mask to get air.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-uk-government-advises-people-to-wear-face-masks-2020-5%3Famp

So people that their jobs requires them to wear mask for 6hrs straight for weeks will start falling sick.
And Nigeria na only follow follow we dey do, if you remove your mask while seating alone in your car windows down you can be arrested.

Next week another country will come up with another theory.
I get u boss, but if u look at the situation out here, u will see people r ready for the worst... Even Buhari don off em phone.

Yes I understand, you know average Nigerian immune system is used to malaria so it's not easy for corona to take charge but the main problem is those having underlying sickness.
Uber bolt drivers needs to be extra careful cos it can enter through eyes and ears too.
So protecting nose and not eyes is 50/50
Pardon my ignorance cos I always here come in contact with and now you've said it can enter thro eyes and ears... Is the virus airborne? Or it takes the droplet from one person to another for transmission to take place?

Sure your colleague will be on 14 days self isolation after testing negative.
As it is Nigerians are no more afraid of Covid19.

Lol @scam... I don't believe it's scam, I just feel the weather out here makes it less effective on us, too many people have it, but weren't aware cos they r still living normal. Putting all factor together, after weeks of carelessness and waiting in queue restlessly for it to take it tow on us, but it seems like normal malaria, so why lockdown because of headache and malaria? Las las folks have choose to leave with it and treat it if d eventual later happens. Funny country, I remember how everyone is scared when we have 1 to 109 cases, noe at 5k plus and its seem like, who cares?
