If I were in his position and honestly want to know road and as well make connections, I'll rather get Dru23 and use for like 2 to 3 months, afterward, I'll sell off at a give away price, than using such car. |

dru23: The car was bought at an auction and it was rusted....try to take time and read bro.. I should have not bought the car at the auction to begin.. I started that even when the car got to Nigeria my mechanic looked at it and said too much rust... if you know anything about auction cars .. It is basically u taking a 50/50 chance.. Most times I buy from private individuals in the USA .. That been said the car has doing very ok and the major things I change was transmission and that was about after six months on uber.... The shaft issue you are having I don't have those issues yet .. The civic is very easy to maintain and did I mention that my drivers don't spend a kobo out of their pockets for expenses at all ...so if the car gives them issue they will take it to my mechanic...... Try and learn and understand bro ,it will help you in the long run.... This is why I don't buy naijed used cars .. I would take my chances with a tokunbo anytime and anyday... Try and learn! Try and learn!! Its a faceless forum bro, I took my time and read, no where u mention auction, am I supposed to understand abstract? When I mention things, I didn't mean my car, but in general.Accord legs I known to pull out, it is a general tin and my observation, soh I feel every car have dia good and bad side during review. |

dru23: We can agree to disagree ...in my honest opinion here.. Civic 03 to 05 are equally as strong or might be stronger than the Corolla. Corolla has a better transmission, but civic engine or equally as good or even slightly better than the Corolla... in terms of looks Corolla 03 looks better than Civic 03 to 05.. But civics 06 upwards looks easily as good as Corolla 03 to say 07.This is my opinion.... So don't come for my head o
Yes , the civic is low to ground... one of my drivers that drives it said ..my mechanic reccomends changing all four tires from 14 to 15.. With 15 rims and tires ,it should give it more support at the back .... You mention back shocks and legs.. Now my guess is that you must have bought the civic naija used. My civic that I bought Tokunbo.. I have never changed the shocks or shaft that I can recall ... And mind you I do all my repairs including oil change ..My uber drivers do not pay for repairs at all not a kobo at all ... .. So unfortunately I can't relate to your statement about shocks and shaft etc ... but the carrying people for back on a civic ..That I agree my driver complains about and that is when he suggested we change tires and rims from 14 to 15..... Just like any other naija used cars you buying, it has issues one way or the other... if the cars are si good why are people selling it ? Those naija used cars are either on its last leg or the owners for sees a potential issue down the line.. Well its just my opinion, either tokunbo of naija used, u just said one of ur tokunbo is over heating and another you change gear, I honestly don't like talking about cars cos I believe staying on the side line open me up to learning. About using 15 rim, even with that won't stop d back side slighting under pressure, I know some ppl left dia own or Change the shock to bigger one thats why I mentioned shock. |

tojahh: That's almost not true sir.
Mr. A buys a Toks corolla for 1.6m Mr. B buys a Toks Honda Civic 1.2m
After 3 years if they are both on Ehailing either rental or HP. then Mr. B must have made two times his money while Mr. A will almost have made nearly one and half his. Then they decides to sell....
Mr. A sells for 1.1m Mr. B sells for 600k
Difference is.... You know what's up. So some1 will buy d car used for uber/bolt 1.1m? Hmmm! D kind of tinz I read here, we just have to keep learning. In as much as I'm trying to avoid the corolla/civic myth/reality, I'll like for us to see things from business angle first. I think purpose should b paramount in life, corolla is far far stronger and rugged to civic, no doubt about that... With my Hyundai I can blaze 140 and b d one warning myself u r running too much, but with civic, when I'm blazing 100 d car will b warning me u r running too much, I can fill d balance on d wheel already.... My civic is just 3 months old and I have gross what I spent to get it and can still sell for 50/100k less of the price I got it, soh! I feel abit peaceful now, knowing I'm saving and in a bit I'll hit net and feel free to know whatever come afterward is profit for sound decision (Thanks Dru). Do I intend to sell? Nope! I'll buy another car from d proceeding by His grace or shift to viable things, not longing for civic again cos is far from choice ride. Too many fallacies I have read ever since I found dis page, but we share different grace, altitude matters in business as well, I think we should always look at things from the business angle, the connection and narrative u pray to write, not double checking price of resale, I pity for anybody that buys car that have been used for uber for 3yrs. The only down side of civic for me is the the back legs/shock/shaft, the way d thing falls ehn, yesterday I took a client to Agbara and on my way back I took Festec road to Orile with 3 ppl at the back, it was a terrible experience, I was just driving with frown |

A Corolla with 1k fuel will take you from ikeja to sangoteado to and fro..( even tho it's not advisable cos you might end up stressing the fuel pump) but which other brand can do that?
How much is the parts of a corrolla? Anybody that cares to listen.. do not buy Elantra or Civic.. hustle and buy a corrolla and thank me later Dats u can use 1k fuel to make 12k. What of Matrix?

tojahh: As school resumes. I got an offline to drop 3kids that lives in my compound off their school and back. 7:30/4pm. Parents say they'd pay 40k monthly. But deal doesn't sound well with me for the following reason.
1. It will disturb my 5am morning runs. 2. What about when I'm not closed to their vicinity after close hour? 3. The mum said she'll go with them a few days because one of the kid is still very young. (1/5mnths). This means I'll bring her back before going my way. 4. The mum might want to stop stop and buy buy on the way as we journey to/from school. 5. 40k is not a big pay for such duty because the children school bus, they were paying 68k per child when it was just two of the kids in the school tho. 6. Uber/Bolt distance for the trip is 800. Hence to and fro for one month is 32k.
Now I don't know how to handle this. I haven't responded to their deal yet. Told them I'll get back to them. How una see am? Because like this.... Local man cannot can. That ain't a good deal boss, move on... That is how one rider thinks she is doing me a favour. franksam2009: the truth is there's no way I'll agree u sit inside d car with a police officer and not know what's going on outside(unless u decide 2 puton ur AC for her and blast a hip-hop song 4 d officer ), the good samaritan probably thought dey were gonna intimidated u ND take u away or something.. What I would hv done is try my best not 2 allow things get violent (30% attention outside, 60% to d officer inside), since I'm certain I can handle/settle everything with jst 500h-1k and also the situation outside is getting tensed, I will probably walk up to d man, call/drag him aside in a calm manner, thank him 4 standing up 4 me, den let him know dat hv settled with d officer inside and he should please!!!! Not cause a scene to avoid getting things complicated, den if he went back n continue fighting, na him Sabi, I'll hands off.. I hv had similar experience whereby a female rider who nearly exchanged blow with a traffic warden, n if not for my intervention, we all might hv gone to station to settle it,. She bought something in traffic n she was expecting her change, but d seller pretended to be looking for change n moving very fast from us in Usain bolt style ,light turned green I was moving sluggishly trying to park well while she was screaming for her money, be4 u know it a traffic warden just said one provocative n irritated word to me, that's how she unleashed the whole anger on him , @ unleashed the whole anger on him. No disrespecting, but I think you watch to many nollywood movies, thats why you were able to script out fiction and b d judge at same time. To b honest wit u I don't know what was going on behind me... The lady got into the car, not the police man, soh if the man isn't using transferred aggression, he should have tackled the woman and not the man that have gone back to his duty post with threat to dismiss him from the work as that was the last thing I heard before driving forward to clear from the scene of claimed obstruction. Please understand this, I left the engine running while playing many tots in my head (if I should carry this woman to point of suit, wait for her action or just follow her order), but off d a/c, soh she roll down er side glass and place a call to towing guys to come ard, note the distance is just omole to FRSC office, if u r familiar wit dat route, u will know I'm taking chances already cos it won't take 5 mins for towing van to arrive. I place a call too, the person I called told me he is coming from Ikeja and at all cost I should not allow them to take the car into their premises once they ticket me its not reversible and I'll pay for towing too (I'm calculating 30/50k bill in my head already), soh I told the woman the car is faulty as I rave it without moving, she outsmart me by removing the key and said she won't give me the key, they must tow this car today, that was when she alighted and I did same, can't leave the car as it is not lock and I am busy watching out for them not to tow the car behind me. How those two men drag each or who went to report the other at area G is still a mystery to me. My people arrived and somewot snake can no longer consume snake, but I can't go, why? Two grown up men have trade blow, they are at d station and you have to be witness because area commander is involved and the only way you can b free is when they transfer the case back to the main station. Immediately, I felt so low and down like who did I offend this morning to b jumping from fry pan to fire... I ask what can I do to rectify everything and all man can go? "The area command case is not your own, we will free you, but you have to come to the station first, so if they ask for the offender that disobeyed traffic rule, we will be able to present you and it shouldn't look like we've taken money from you and free you, that's another trouble for us". I got to the office, the lady was even defending me till his boss blast her, like she is sick and doesn't know what she is doing, if I didn't commit any offence, when did she apprehend me and why did they go to assault department, instead of bringing the matter to him. I have to wait till area commander transferred the case to grammar school DPO and that's when they to have a sign of relieve that the case won't b going to court, even the man in question have already start pleading with the traffic police man to forgive his actions. I know they will settle it, but why I couldn't get so close like I would have loved to is because me too I am leaning on grace, if they follow my case up, 30k may drop and it just won't make any sense when I start abusing the privilege they accord me at the police station. |

northbird: Oga pope. Thanks for sharing, we HV learnt. Really appreciate. But if I may ask, the second lane, is it an offence on that road, ( ogunwusi or ogunsuyi road) and were you the first to create the second lane or they just handpicked you out of all the vehicles in the lane , maybe becos you r uber. I call dem necessary evil, because they overlook a lot of stuff, but on their set day, it will take grace not to fall into their trap. Yes! It is an offence to use your right side on a two way lane when you are about to turn at a junction like that and no I wasn't the first person, like I said the other person zoomed straight towards ogba as he/she noticed their movement, normally in such scenario, they were suppose to tell me not to stop dia but point for me to drive towards ogba. The officer in question from my observation needs money and it has become habitual for them, b4 coming out in the morning, they have a targeted amount on their mind and how many keke they have to catch to get the money, once you r an uber driver and fall into their hand, that's a big prey for them, as they assume uber drivers r dull and make good money unlike the danfo guys. Let me set an example for you, those that always park along the pzifer road r parking on d wrong spot, but they always overlook it till the day they want to do operations, they may need 50 cars and nothing on earth will make them not to get that 50 cars, such day they just off dia phones nd turn deaf ear to any form of pleading. Another thing that use to piss them off, is when you commit an offence and tell them other people r doing it while showing them example, they do take that personal. If you sit around them for long, gist and break bread with them, you will come to understand they are normal human with life issues, in as much as they can b mean atimes, it is the way you relate with them that counts as long as they are not out on operations, mostly they don't have the intention of taking anyone to the office or impounding any car when they don't even know what they are going to eat for lunch, as long as you don't rubish dia ego, no matter d problem, a good understanding can sought it out. I'm not speaking for airport or local government touts, those once are on illegal duty and out dia to wreck havoc on dia victims. @Franksam2009, I ask you a question and I'll really appreciate if you can reply, not just for your to spot what's wrong, you can as well profess a solution in such instance, at least you weren't under any pressure as mine and you have time to put your tots together. |
