Family › Re: Help My Brother Is Frustrating Me by poppop: 1:44pm On May 30, 2017 |
0110x: Hi, been following nl for quite a while now, decided to register a week back. Please, I need serious and mature advice this section is known for.
Here is my story.
Am 25yrs old, the First of 3, I have a sister and brother.I have been taking care of myself for as long as I can remember. say since I was 16 years old. Well, My Dad happens to be a Pastor, the extra holy type, so the token from the church is his only source of income( he gives most of this out to people) and my mom is extra hard working, bless her. so she is been the one taking care of the house(rent, food etc). I have been working and making small money myself since I was 16, so I help out when I can. When I was uni, I send monthly upkeep to my sis and brother from the little I make from doing odd jobs here and there. This is not the point of this thread, just want you guys to have a peak into my background to understand where am coming from.
I finished service last year and I decided to stay back in the city I served, and I was able to start a business from my savings and allawee(It wasn't easy saving, starving and all. but I did). So my brother just finished his ND program and decided he wants to cross over to uni. He was home waiting for JAMB and DE exams. While he was home, himself and my dad were always having issues(going to church, house chores etc) and each time this happens, They report him to me, am an introvert so most times I just call him and advice. February he decided to come stay with me, so he has been with me since then.
The issue is my brother is somehow, He doesn't help out 1 bit at home nor at my business. All he do ever do is, Eat, sleep, watch movies. I can't even send him on errands, most times he wouldn't even answer, He will pretend like he didn't hear me, then maybe 30 minutes later he will sluggishly attend to whatever the errand was. Sometimes he will categorically say it to my face he can't do anything cos he is tired, tired from what??(so I end up doing myself) It not like this errands are actually for me alone, Errands like to going to market to buy foodstuffs etc, buy pure water and stuffs for the house, sweep and clean the house.
I leave in an apartment where the gate is always locked, and I stay closest to the gate, anytime am home from work or outing, I will knock till almost eternity, With my brother in the house, he wouldn't come open the gate, till neighbours whose apartment is far away from the gate opens, I have talked and talk no change.
I don't eat out, I go to work all day and come back with my brother not even doing the dishes we use for the last meal, he actually can cook, but he will cook noodles for himself and that is it. I will come from work tired and start cooking again. I was very sick last 2 weeks from stress, and was taking pills and my brother didn't even ask me what was wrong, yet I was still running up and down, cooking and all. Most times it feels am leaving with a stranger.
I work my as.s off for my family, most of the money I make, It either am sending to my sis or my Dad is "borrowing" it and no one seems to even give a shit about me. Really don't know what to do anymore, am thinking of asking my brother to go back to his father's house at least it will save my a lot of expenses,(I sub data for him, and he eats like a dragon). What do y'all think, Advice me please, am getting overwhelmed from all this responsibility, btw my brother is 19. He needs to take an unplanned "holiday" whether he likes it or not, AKA go be with mummy and daddy first. |

HonOlagrace: Its my first time working officially after Nysc, so I don't no if it's a crime to fall sick?
I fell sick(Malaria) on Wednesday around 9am@work,was able to manage myself till 1:30pm when my colleagues told me to go home when I couldn't cope. Got permission from the school's HM and left;was admitted at the hospital so I couldn't go to work yesterday but went today aganist the doctor 's advice that I still need to rest. Got to work today and was told that I was fired because I fell sick and was absent for a day & half.
My Question is, Is it a crime to fall sick when employed? Did you call the Head Teacher or HM to explain you would not be able to make it on Thursday? |

amyzon: It started yesterday afternoon when my husband took me to the hospital to pick up my family planning pills with our 2 months old baby. To cut the story short, I went into d midwife's office alone to pick d pill , ask questions and get answers.
Inside the midwives office was a very young doctor who got involved in all my discussion with the midwife. Alone the line, the midwife went out to pick something and at that moment the young doctor asked me for my number, I gave him a wrong number .
So when we got home I told my husband about it. He got angry , started attacking me about it , my husband said giving the doctor a number at all was me insulting him, that it doesn't matter if it was a wrong number or not .
Truth is, I'm not the type to insult a guy who approached me, I always give wrong number. I have been apologising to my husband since yesterday even when I totally don't think I did something wrong , Yet he is still boiling up. Pls I need to understand what I did wrong cos I don't think I did something wrong. You are very wrong. You are married. All you had to do was politely decline. Giving him any number at all (whether right or wrong) immediately sets the wrong tone. And your mouth... You need not really say everything you know... |

john1964: Hi guys I know nairaland ain't the perfect Place to come asking for advice but I have no one to confide to, am this kinda person that find it hard sharing personal issues with someone I know, When I read people write about their personal love life issues I find it very funny sha..lol..
Not knowing I'll one day face mine and be forced to share it. Been dating this girl for 3 years now am in the university, 400L while she's in her 300L presently, she's always cared and loved me undoubtedly since day 1, always had back in school both financially and others too and we've always had this plan for a future together, coz I strongly believe and know our love was real. The bond we had was just so strong, suddenly I had an issue with school which brought me back though.
Sadly Had to start all over from 100L it hurts me so much, though all the time have been going through this dilemma, she's always tried encouraging me and pushed me not to give up on my dream.
I was almost thinking so negative when I had this school ish, thought about killing myself thinking the world was over. But this lady stood by me and never gave up on me and convinced me that killing my self wouldn't help matters (I was really a mess then, like a HUGE mess) didn't go out much, had to stay in school a whole year preparing all over again for jamb nd all that, tho still attending lectures.
Now, when I had this issue that was were my dreams started shattering, our future wasn't looking all bright anymore because now am starting all over again, when I'll be in my 100L she'll be in her 300L and on and on like that..
It really broke my heart, at some point she believes in me and tries to convince me things would be better and I'll definitely scale through, But most times there's just this little doubts that comes in, You Ladies are prone to marry early (and she's very cute) which is actually a huge A+, men have always been coming asking for her hand in marriage and she has always declined them.. But she ain't getting any younger, and has to get married someday, sadly she told me yesterday she really do love me so much and has always had my back always and supported me always and which is so true that she has just decided to give me some lil break so I can try sorting my self out and balancing my life and she has decided to agree to one of her suitors(the guy is quite close to her family/ he's financially stable too tho the guy has a lil kid sha I guess his a single dad) coz she's always told me about ppl asking for her hand in marriage, though they ain't getting married now, but at least she wants to face him, instead of pushing away all her suitors and in the future wen she graduates and am Still in school, it might not be easy for me to be financially stable easily, tho she begged me that Pls hope I wouldn't paint her as a bad person coz she really tried for me.
I've just been really down since she told me this and it's really affecting me so much tho what she says is sadly the truth, Have just really built my life around her and she's just the only one I confined to in school when I have issues (coz am really this typa person who don't flows and share things easily with anyone, I kinda hv trust issues) don't really know how I'll cope when Am back to school, we leave close to each other in school, and she still really wants to be friends with me and wants to always support me too. Don't really know what to do right now I really do love her so much because she's an amazing person who has just been by my side through really hard times in school, it wont be easy starting Just as friends right now, I really do have a mild heart.
Wish I could rewind the hands of the clock and correct the mistake I made that made me start all over again.. It's just really sad
Pls if I made a mistake with my typing, don't attack me.. Just really down now If you love her as you claim, then allow her go. You know this in your heart. Pray for her and allow her go. Make new friends, date someone else when you are ready and above all concentrate on what took you to school in the first place. |

Stephaniecoa: Sorry to say but if you're not ovulating, then there's something responsible for it (which your doctor needs to find out) ovulation don't just "stop happening". Did you ovulate on the 50mg clomid? Did they scan u to check if any follicle matured? Clomid is known to induce ovulation in most women, but for some, it doesn't work. So the only way to know if you ovulated is to check for mature follicle on cd12 and then use ovulation test sticks to know if/when your body is surging (lh surge). Then also do a tvs few days after the day you're supposed to ovulate, if u ovulated, there will be fluid in your pod, and there will be a corpus luteum(where the egg came out from). And u can as well do a cd21 progesterone test. All the best. God bless you. |

franklyfert: hello mama, ovulation occur when there is a follicular size of about 18mm and above, one of the major things that could cause you not to ovulate is when you are not having dorminate follicles.
women who are already diagnosed with anovulation ,tend to do better when increased dosage of clomid is used along with mild stimulaion injection . clomide of 50mg will work better with woman who are ovulating on their own
recommendation discuss these with your doctor start clomid 50mg twice daily for 5day to start on day 2 of cycle add hmg 75IU on day3 for another 5days do a scan on day 10 of cycle to see the number of dorminate follicles . if one or two is found if not ready repeat scan in day 12. take hcg(profasi or pregnl) 10000iu- injection to make sure you ovulation in 36hours time. then do the necessary things with hb that day and the next and wait for the result in 15days time. Thank u v much. Information is power. Please excuse my ignorance but what do these mean? Hmg 75iu. When u say on day 3, I take it u mean day 3 of ur period. |

Happy weekend dear mama n papas.
I wanted to find out from any mum here, does any one know about clomid and ovulation challenges and have overcome it.
I know every case is different but rubbing minds together helps. I was told that I am not ovulating and I've been put on clomid for 3 cycles. I took one (50mg a day starting on my first day of period.
I just advise from anyone with this no ovulation thing n how they overcame it or what was done differently that resulted in success. Please note no underlying issue apart from this. |

bigfrancis21: Hey everyone,
This is probably not the right place to post this but does anyone here know the Ifediora family of Umudioka? My friend here in the US was born to an Igbo father and african american mother. He has never been to Nigeria before and the last time his father visited Nigeria was in 2001. Unfortunately, his father did not tell him much about his village and now his father is late and he desperately wants to reach out to his father's people to inform them of the man's death but he has no way of locating them. The much he knows is that his dad is from the Ifediora family of Umudioka, not sure whether it is the one in Awka or Dunukofia LGA. His father went to St. Patrick's College Asaba. His father's full name is Ifeanyi Emmanuel Ifediora and his father's siblings' names are Uchenna, Nathaniel, Chidiogo etc.
Please anyone who by chance knows this family or is related to them or anyone living in Awka/Dunukofia and environs who can help locate the Ifediora family in Umudioka, please send me an email immediately. My friend desperately wants to reconnect with his father's side of the family.
Thanks a lot in advance.

vivalavida: I want to take out time here to celebrate a brother, a friend, a professional colleague and a mentor who goes by the moniker Mintayo. I happened to have met this perfect gentleman in one of the forums pertaining to our course of study and we have remained friends ever since. Today, this my most wonderful friend had his introduction to his beautiful boo by the name Tiwoluwa fisayomi who is just a guest on Nairaland. Maybe she will be forced to register today. *winks* This is a love story that started eight years ago. A journey of love worth emulating. Never knew minty was a sharp guy capable of noticing such a fine sister in church and even making moves cause his present demeanor dosent depict him as one capable of such James Bond like move. But my man noticed this pretty bae eight years ago at winners teen chapel in Ibadan. Even though she was in year one then at Eksu, my man went Ahead and did the needful by not only toasting and collecting number, he proposed too. Bae agreed sha and was watching my guy with one eye. Distance nearly was an impediment but my guy used all methods available to always keep in touch with bae. From 2go to xtracool night call, Mintayo followed this matter bumper to bumper and never allowed the case file leave his table. He is almost done treating this matter that took him eight solid years of serious toiling and dedication and all I can say is congratulations bro. We wey still dey single go begin follow up that your way soon. Ladies y'll should Learn to be patient with your man. If u see a man with ambitions, stick to him. Dandy1: Thanks so much. It hurt more when I went home to get some stuffs in the baby room and saw all those things we bought in pairs. Cots, wardrobe, carriers, baby car seats, and the stroller which my baby just forced me to assemble the second one just yesterday evening. When she said she might give birth anytime soon. For pregnant people I'd like to give this advice: It turned out the baby had been dead for over 48 hours before today. For a set of monozygotic twins(sharing same sac),the doctors thought it's a miracle there were no complications. To think we still went for checkup on last week Monday when she felt pain overnight, where the doctor advised to opt for CS that it is safer as against what people think. Especially for multiple births. She said the babies were perfectly grown and were just waiting inside. That they will be fine if delivered right away. But my wife felt she could do it by herself. It's all good though we'll get over it. I'll start deleting those pictures from her phone and dispose of those double things we won't be needing so as to make it go away quick. M glad u brot this up yourself. Nine months n over just hanging on with a case of multiple birth was maybe... Oh well who knows d end from d beginning? God. It is well |

kennybabs1980: I met Viola at the university, very beautiful young lady. I loved her so much but she was always asking for money from me even as a struggling student. I tried to dissuade her from the attitude but her chant of "you're not caring" will always rent the air at each occasion l tried to. Always very confident about herself. After NYSC, I secured a job where I earned 60k per month, she was in her final year then. I told her about the job and her response was "is it 60k job you're celebrating"? I made it clear to her that I won't continue the relationship, she smiled and went away.
She later sent a message to me in the night of that day saying "60k is not enough to marry me, good riddance to bad rubbish". Fast forward six years with a wonderful wife and two beautiful kids, I bumped into her in a mutual friend father's funeral yesterday in Abeokuta, she wasn't looking as beautiful as she used to be, I greeted and exchange pleasantries with her, she responded grudgingly at first but later came back to tell me that "you're looking like a real man now". I asked her what she meant which she didn't respond to.
I heard from a friend who followed me to Ife from Abeokuta while driving down to my base at Akure today that she actually separated from her husband because the guy lost his job in the bank in 2014. What an unrepentant money monger is this Viola lady? I haven't stopped thanking my God that I made a wise decision to leave her in 2009. I pray she learn on time.
I have an advise for young ladies and gentlemen in the house, ladies change your mindset about money issues if its wrong like Viola's. Young men, shine your eyes and work very hard to earn a respectable living, cheers. Well spoken |
