Goalnaldo:There is no scientific proof for this. It is mere assumptions based on ZERO data that football fans are unstable to the level of shooting people because their teams lost. If that is the case, why are they not stabbing now? On the contrary, it's "stable" people that have been killing football fans in viewing centers. https://www.voanews.com/a/nigerians-reconsider-world-cup-viewing-centers-after-attack/1939516.html |
biggie73:Of course they have. But the killers get killed. And they get arrested and prosecuted and sentenced to death or life time in jail. But defenseless Nigerians are being killed now in churches, trains and more. |
Ekejoestar:You may be right in your assertions. But the US is not the only country with gun rights. Ghana has gun rights. Switzerland has gun rights. The Philippines has gun rights. Chad has gun rights. Ukraine has gun rights... and so on. On the contrary, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria, Nicaragua and others countries have strict gun laws but their citizens are massacred every time in the most horrendous ways by Criminal gangs and terrorists who acquired guns illegally, anyway. |
Romanoff:What about those who kill Nigerians in the churches every Sunday? Do you think non-constitutional right will grow Nigeria? |
biggie73:No, it is saving their lives. They have been free since 1776. |
blingxx:This is a simplistic way of thinking. He will have his own gun and you would have yours. He would think twice before he shoots. And others with gun will be around too. |
This is the right thing to do. If they ever give up their guns for any reasons, they will be defenseless like Nigerians are currently are. Large countries can never be totally police by the law enforcement. Citizens need firearms to defend themselves. |
The Lagos State government had no reason to prevent hijab in government schools. It was a needless controversy. Public schools are for everyone. There should not be discrimination against female Muslims wearing the hijab in public schools especially if they have been wearing it before. Lagos State Government was wrong. Or they deliberately stirred up the hornet nest just to make a legal case for their other wannabe governments in the southwest and Kwara who are trying to IMPOSE hijab wearing in Christian legacy schools. The two situations are different and not the same. |
Putindbutt:Buhari himself is now in the opposition now? |
They are talking about 'minority Muslim' now that they want to do manafiki. |
Such a pity. They are just using these innocent people for experiment. The joker president of Ukraine agreed with these west to use his people. He will eventually flee the country to exile in a cozy European city or they will take him to South America. Such a pity. |
christistruth01:Imagine if their knives have been taken from them. |
christistruth01:How will they escalate chaos? Are people not having possession of knives now? There are knife attacks every time in the UK and many parts of Europe, why can't they sign knife possession to Queen Elizabeth II. Acid is sold in the open market even now without any traditional ruler guaranteeing anything. Does it also mean that people with Dane guns for hunting currently are signed to LG chairmen now? |
wis3:Are we not having mass shootings now? What further disaster can a country have than few gunmen killing over 80 people who went to worship their God in a church? You people only mention US because you do not have understanding. Criminals don't get arms legally. They will always get it no matter what you do. The 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution allows an establishment of a militia to defend the citizens against their government's tyranny (in case it arises). And why are you no mentioning Switzerland? Firearm possession is legal in Ghana, in Chad, why are neigbours not killing themselves in those countries? |
railone:If they are working, why are they not doing what it was intended? No mass deaths or mass poverty in Russia. People are going about their normal activities. Why are people not dropping dead in the streets of Moscow or St. Petersburg? Why have the sanctions not stopped the war? Why is the prospect of annexation of a section of Ukraine so bright? And then why do EU countries have to sacrifice more than they have done without any results to show for it? The daily wailing, as you called it, is because the people/countries imposing the sanctions are the ones hurting from them. Whether through shortage of food, or disruptions to food and energy supplies, it the people imposing the sanctions that are getting the short end of the stick. Or have you not read how those who imposed sanctions are the ones accusing their adversary USING HUNGER AS A WEAPON OF WAR? The sanctioned country's balance of trade is being boosted in bigger measure. Do you have an idea what losing a third of your energy supplies could do to your economy in a month? Wait till you see real uprising in Europe in coming months as a result of economic downturn before you realize that the "wailings" are calls for a common sense resolution. |
They dribbled themselves. While they were focused on getting the political appointees out by all means, they didn't even bother to check their own end. It ended up being a foolish strategy. |
treesun:Oga no, upgrade firearm laws. That means there is currently a law or laws regulating possession of firearm which does not solve the problem at hand. You can get license for some categories of firearms for hunting, for instance. To upgrade the law through legislation means that the reason for possession of firearm can now be extended to self defense. Do you understand now? |
Nigeria is due for firearm regulations upgrade. The insecurity in the country currently is akin to war situation, therefore, the government should upgrade the laws to allow citizens to obtain license to own and carry firearm for self defense. Citizens having permits to own and carry firearms for protection will complement the efforts of the security forces. This is a reasonable thing to do. Self defense is a fundamental human right. We cannot continue to fold our arms and watch helplessly while criminals without license take over the destiny of the country. Instead of wasting money procuring sophisticated weapons designed for external military conflict to solve internal security problems, we should grant citizens license to complement what the security forces are doing. Of course, there are genuine concerns about misuse of firearm, especially considering the incessant mass shooting in the US. However, there are countries with advanced firearm ownership laws that are thriving: Switzerland, South Africa, Namibia, even Chad and currently Ukraine and many others have regulations that allow ownership of firearms without hell letting lose. To be clear, the regulations would be strict on who get issued the licenses in terms of age, criminal records, mental capacity, guarantor requirements and general background checks. Regional law enforcements have been proposed and being tried but they have had little impact and not generally acceptable because of the nature of politics and the history of regional conflicts in Nigeria. We cannot afford to just fold arms and put all the burdens on our military forces who are not even trained for that type of conflict. We should not pretend that any amount budgeted will have any effect. It is time we face the little demon and do the right thing. Grant license to own firearm for self defense and you see banditry reduce drastically. |
Nigerian armchair analysts fantasized with Petroleum Industry legislation for years. Impulsive analysts on TV and newspapers chorused unproven rhetorics about how the law would change everything and turn the country into eldorado. The PIA has been passed for close to a year now and the woes seems to have just began in the petroleum industry. Analysts have disappeared. The media seem to have moved on. No one has been called back to explain why things have not gone the way they dressed them. No TV station has made any attempt to call our experts back to ask "Oga, did you not say that the PIA will do this and that, how come nothing resembling what you said is even happening after the law has been signed for months now?" "Why are there no new investments in the oil and gas sectors now as you predicted?" "Why are the oil companies disposing their assets instead?" "How long before all that you predicted will start to materialize?" There must be a new set of economic thinkers and public opinion moulders in Nigeria dor country to make any meaningful prpgress. There should be a complete overhaul of the socalled analysts, not only the politicians. |
Not many prominent church leaders will publicly condemn this killing. But they will be quick to talk about missing money. |
Tinubuadvocate:What does this translate to? That the cabal prevented the APC ideology from working? But they implemented everything by the book. It's all wishful thinking, regardless of who is implementing it. Does it mean that without the cabal, there would have been money to employ 10m, 50m youths? Do you consider how many N-Power people they are struggling to give 30,000 naira monthly stipend to? Fowler was queried for not meeting up to revenue targets after they have taxed all the taxables, was it the cabal that prevented him from performing below expectation? I have read every letter of APC ideology. The philosophy is premised on Lagos template. But Lagos is a sub-national. Lagos still depends on the federal allocation for at least half of its revenue. Nigeria does not have such luxury of grandfathering. Nigeria is sovereign. The template to generate revenue for Nigeria is different from Lagos template. That is the core of the problem. And that seems to what Mr. Fasua is still advocating. Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fasola all once advocated fiscal federalism in one form or another. But they all suddenly fell for an unworkable, unrealistic unitary fiscal agenda at some point. What could have happened? Blaming the cabal for this economic woes and trying to exonerate the main policy formulators is not right. |
This is a disappointing article from Mr Fasua. These are more like Marxists agenda they are hyping as economic strategies. Are these not the same policies they are implementing right now? Imaginary full employment - is this not what APC promised and implementing with N-Power? How has that panned out? Border closure - Have they not closed the border for over 2 years now? What exactly was achieved? Wishful thinking protection of the naira - Did we no hear that naira would exchange for yuan directly to make it "strong". Taxing the rich - have they not been taxing the rich and have ran out ideas already; have you forgotten that they even published names of tax defaulters? Have you forgotten so soon that they started with MTN 1 trillion fine? They came back taxing every penny in circulation in the name of VAT increment, stamp duty etc.? The problem with all these wishful thinking is that they barely give a thought to how to finance these utopian dreams. How do you pay 10m youths in the secret services, police, NSCDC etc that you are proposing? The current federal government workforce is not even up to 3 million and they still struggling to pay salary with borrowed funds monthly. Mr Fasua should not be pressured to just write anything anyhow to show his support for his candidate. Everything he wrote here are the same policies that the current government borrowed from the Tinubu group and has been implementing for 7 years now with only a 127km railtrack to show for it; but with highest debt burden ever created in the history of our country. |
Mark this! Bestiality will soon be wide spread which would lead to a movement backed by huge money from progressive/woke politicians corporates and businessmen leading to pressure for its legalization across the world. The progressives will make money available for phantom researches and back it up with 'science' and legitimize the act. The world will soon be told that there's a gene for bestiality. They will say they are born that way. Those who dare to resent and antagonise bestiality at that will be called bushmen and canceled. The corporate woke media would be on hand to destroy the image of anyone who dare say otherwise. The term bestiality itself would be 'funkified' and another well package launderered term coined to make it less repulsive. People would be afraid to say anything against the subculture because they will be massively canceled. Copycat activists and low budget woke enthusiasts in less developed countries would be enticed with visas to visit and live in low income housing projects abroad in exchange for their support for the nonsense. |
Some of the extremists madness from the left can only be cure with another form madness. It took a crazy and aggressive buyout of Twitter from Jack to force his brain to reset. |
Taiggarr:He probably went to Jakande school or still living in Jakande estate. But he probably doesn't have enough independent mind to see things in a dispassionate way. |
tibikarak:There's no point saying all this. They have made up their minds. Everyone should just be prepared to hear how 'baba' built Abuja if he is fortunate to be president in 2023. Write this down, Nigeria's would be told how Tinubu built Abuja as the 'master planner.' They would say it consistently that even Babangida, Abdulsalami, Obasanjo, Jonathan would believe the tale and repeat it in interviews. |
WibusJaga:Nigeria did not spend naira in 1964. |
The question that comes to any critical mind is "why does he get betrayed by the so-called beneficiaries every time"? Almost every one he has allegedly 'made' to anything meaningful has 'betrayed' him. Most of the people shouting are those desperately seeking to be 'made' by him, who would then come around in the future to 'betray" him. Even the writer of this piece would 'betray' him in the future after having gotten sufficiently 'noticed' and 'helped' to a meaningful position he 'would never have been able to reach in his life'. That is, if you consider that so many people have written articles to destroy other people's lives on his behalf only to come around to 'betray' him. So the question again, why does he get betrayed by almost all the people he has 'made' to anything meaningful? |
They should cooperate with the executive as is their culture. The can't afford to be confrontational. The 9th Senate has demonstrated an excellent working relationship with the executive. They can't afford to be belligerent at this point. The Ayes must have it. |
And see how they led their country to a needless war. |
AmazonTopaz:What are you saying? What is your question? "That Trump did not believe his intelligence agencies picked Russia over NATO allies" ... doesn't sound coherent. It appears you are under some intense anxiety. It has to be anxiety because you have been boasting of your ability to read and write all along. Calm down and put your thoughts together. |
sanpipita:You are sounding very pathetic at this point. Your idea that Trump was weak against Putin and would have created an easy path for the total annexation of Ukraine was quickly debunked by pointing out Trump actual strong arm tactics of imposition of sanctions against Nord Stream 2, which Biden lifted when he came to office. So if Trump was weak, would he have sanctioned an $11b project at the heart of the Russian gas infrastructure? Your point was that the Nord Stream 2 deal by Biden with Russia was for the sake of Ukraine, which was roundly debunked. I pointed to you that the deal couldn't have been in favor of Ukraine because the real motive of Russia was to weaken Ukraine economically. Apparently you didn't have any clue about the project and the strategic implications for countries. For your information, that is the day job of some people. But you don't even have the grace to admit your error. Having exposed your lack of understanding, you are now trying to use elementary school tactics to deflect the subject in order to wrigle your way out. Admission of mistakes is very hard for we humans to do, but it's actually a strength not a weakness for strong minds. Next time, be measured in your contributions in a public forum to avoid being taken to the cleaners. You should know that all the things you have ever read and would ever read are written by humans who could be part of your audience. My earlier advice to you subsist; now that you know how to read and write, the next thing is to acquire strategic thinking skills. You have to learn the art of "reading between the lines". |
