It is important to expand the scope of this discourse in order to avoid assumptions such as the one that brought us to this parlous state by the APC. All manners of nonsensical things were peddled before and tested after the APC took over in 2015, which have all turned out SPURIOUS. The main reason is the DOLLAR! All other reasons are secondary. The US is the foremost capitalist economy, so it's natural for those capitalistic tendencies you listed. The US dollar is the world reserve currency: About $6.7 trillion is held across the world in reserve. It is backed by the US Treasuries, considered to be the safest paper assets. Also, major world commodities are traded in dollars. Oil for instance is a major natural resource that the whole of humanity depends on. Because of these, the US prints its currency for the whole world to use without much threat of inflation due to printing of money. In return, the United States of America issues bonds (credit to fund its economy), which are subscribed with countries reserves and private sector savings across the world. They are therefore able to raise credit cheaply and perpetually (albeit measurably). The US literally printed billions and billions of dollars and distributed to their idle workforce during COVID-19 lock-down. There is no country in the entire world that has that kind of advantage. Attempts to copy and paste the same by the Nigerian managers with donor funds resulted in massive stealing and wicket hoarding of food that some Nigerians were supposed to eat from few days. Invariably, the US dollar's behemoth status supports production and innovations in no way any other country can attempt. It also supports the credit system which itself supports internal consumption: internal consumption prevents the country from being taken hostage by externalities as Nigeria's economy would be subjected to. It supports independence of thoughts and risk taking. You could practically start a firm in the US to produce "your idea" with other people's money, which itself could well be pieces of paper asset. The mortgage system allows you to purchase a home as early as possible in your career and your skills are compensated adequately. So before you open a thread and start suggesting that people earning less than $100 a month not to be paid sick leave, you better get an understanding of the background of the economies you are comparing. We have to start the advocacy in time before they come in 2023 and start using Nigerian workers as lab rats for unworkable ideas. All the assets created incrementally in the past, both public and private, have been squandered by APC. All this happened because of poorly thought-out policies. JUST IMAGINE the so-called financial superstars and economic voodoo doctors boasting about electricity generation, infrastructure this infrastructure that without a single second thought about where the funds would come from. |
Opolopoopolonio:Why is Tinubu now reinforcing that second-class Yoruba Muslim status by pandering to their whims? Why can't he preach to them that religion does not matter and choose a Christian VP candidate? Why can't he tell them that he doesn't care about religion. |
Are Yoruba Muslims not Muslim enough? Why do you need a northern Nigerian Muslim to convince your fellow Muslims of your Islamic bonafide? Why can't you break the jinx by testing the non-religious issue based politics by selecting a Christian from northern Nigeria as your running mate? Why can't you convince the Muslim northerners that religion does not matter, by selecting a Christian. Why are the Muslim northerners treating Yoruba Muslims as inferior? |
What an infrastructure. |
He will do it. And they will tell you it is a 'master strategy' to win reelection. They will tell you that Taliban controlling Afganistan are also giving water for people to drink. They will remind you that he has not Islamized his pastor wife. As at today, Nigeria is 35% Islamized. The Muslim Muslim government will take it to 70%. |
Abuja is currently a jungle. Tinubu is coming to turn it to Paris. Just watch. |
But they said Nigeria cannot be Islamized. |
They will do it. |
Aldol:Never ever compare Obasanjo with Tinubu. Is it the same Tinubu or the one from Mars? Do you think the APC governors gave him the ticket and pressured him to pick one Shetima to come and issue one shoot at sight? The same way they have him captive now is the same way they would threaten him because of second term. He would still give the same excuse. Even if they kidnap and kill thousands in Alausa and Iragbiji, his 'brilliant strategy' will continue to be appeasement, something that 'can win election'. |
Nigerian election planners and politicians are not that diligent. And they have mixed that with fraudulent tendencies. Don't be surprised to see pictures of candidates mixed up with other parties logo because someone was not painstaking enough. And don't be surprised to see that as a tactic on the whiteboard in political 'strategy' sessions/meetings. |
iLoveYouToo:Just like he filled up 23,000 teacher positions in the past without a single improvement in the performance of the pupils/studens in national and international exams but only an astronomical increase in banditry in his state. |
Mynd44:But they can enjoy TETFund structures and training funds gotten through "federal strike", right? |
Very destructive mindset. How can a human being think of destruction every day? |
It is very sad how many Nigerians are reacting to this news on this forum. It is very very sad that Nigerian youths on this forum see nothing wrong with Nigeria being given food aid. Immediately these youths saw dollars, they didn't even think of what the country has become in the hands of the APC, they are only concerned about how they will benefit from the dollars individually. NIGERIAN YOUTHS, this is not good news at all. This news mean that you are now a begger nation living on humanitarian aid from other countries. Think of Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan and other countries living on food aids. That is what you have become. It means you cannot feed yourselves again. This news is not positive. Use your mind to think. Do critical analysis of what you read. You are not dumb. You are not Neanderthals. Nations receiving food aids from other countries are in critical situation. NIGERIAN YOUNG PEOPLE, think beyond distribution of free dollars to your accounts. Think of how to rescue your country from unproductive leadership of APC. |
The price of Brent Crude as of today is $104pb. Once upon a time, the current people in government and their supporters lament every second that their predecessors did not utilize the revenue from oil effectively when oil was selling at $100÷ pb. But they have remained blind, deaf and dumb to the current price of the same crude oil. Debt servicing has now exceeded revenue by 310b naira. |
But many ignorant Nigerians here thought Putin is the only one that will be hurt by this Biden and western countries orchestrated war in Ukraine. Just like in many things, socalled African intellectuals' opinions are moulded by heavy consumption of junk items from CNN and other indoctrination centred western media organizations. |
Does anyone know where Tinubu’s Enron power plant is located in Lagos? |
Doctor of Business Degree (PhD)? What does that mean? Let us the see certificate issued and check how it is written on it. The reason he is the first one since 1209 might be because the degree is perhaps not important. And what's with the First Class Honours in a doctoral degree? Nigerians!!! Sanromeo: |
It will not last. All those are against human nature. Nature will find a way to reset or format. Most people behind those ideas are mentally sick. But because they are not picking papers in the streets they think they are normal. They are not. Nature will rebalance everything. They may seem to have the upper hand now but it's temporary. Think of decades long stupid judgements that are being overturned in the US currenly. More will come. The next one could be relisting some of these obviuosly sick things back into psychiatric definition. They will find ways of dealing with mental health instead of normalizing them to make the sick feel good about their sickness. Calamities and wars will force the west to recalibrate. Adversaries are waiting to take advantage of their weak minds. This will lead to clamor to get rid of weak minded leaders with their debauchery. If it's not done internally sooner, like revolution or popular uprising, external tendencies will do it, through wars. Think of the current war in Ukraine. It's already collapsing weak governments in Europe. Some strong leaders will emerge. |
Will RCCG sell out Nigerian Christian community the second time? For how much? At the cost of how many Christians' blood? |
Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index. Nigeria 2015 Rank - 136 Score - 26 Nigeria 2021 Rank - 154 Score - 24 Source: https://www.transparency.org/en/cpi/2021 The first time in the history of Nigeria where no attempt was made to stop policemen from extortion of motorists on the road. The first time ever. |
The Christians making noise don't know anything. Tinubu is not looking for any vote. The northern Muslim governors have promised him DECLARATION not vote. They simply want to DECLARE him president. Voter suppression in Christian areas and excessive numbers (including UNDERAGE VOTER COUNT) in Muslim dominated areas. That is what he has been promised. They will ask you to go court. The governor of Akwa Ibom State gave a snippet of what they are up to recently. Violence will erupt in many states like Akwa Ibom, which would make INEC postpone election in those states. They will come and conduct the election in a week or two with massive militarization preventing people from moving to the polling units. It has happened in Osun. Even Buhari himself said they won by "REMOTE CONTROL'. And that is the preferred modul operandi of the Tinubu himself. That was what they did to Segun Oni in Ekiti some years back. When Christians were told that Nigeria will be Islamized in 2015, many foolish one thought it would involve putting guns in head. They said it was not possible. They lack any critical way of reasoning. They massively voted for an Islamic agenda with their own hands. Now, it is only a miracle that will stop the AGENDA. Many so-called Christians only answer it with their mouth, anyway. If Christians are really serious, they should beam more light on INEC and its chairman. Christian activists should by now be interested in what goes on in INEC. They should be monitoring every move of the chairman and the commissioners. That is the constituted agency that is vested with the power to DECLARE a winner for president of Nigeria. Christians should insist that ELECTIONS should be CONDUCTED ON A SINGLE DAY. No cancellation in a SINGLE Polling unit. No postponement of election anywhere. Christians should RESIST any FORM of VIOLENCE in their community. They should refused to be PROVOKED to violence. They should expose those who are planning violence. If you think this election is about your tribe, you are making a serious MISTAKE. Yoruba Christians should take the issue seriously. Religion is a SERIOUS issue. It is about your FAITH. Do not say it doesn't matter because you can secure VISA to Europe and America. There are millions of people who will not be able to practice their FAITH within Nigeria, who will not be eligible for VISA. Do not be selfish. Defend your FAITH. So many Christians and many conscientious Muslim resisted in 2015 with Buhari, they are now using Tinubu to achieve it. Resist ISLAMIZATION of Nigeria. |
This is what APC could not give to Abike Dabiri Erewa for the past twenty years that she has been slaving for them. Upon all the laborious job she does for them, she is only entitled to crumbs - like the diaspora thing where she doesn't even have an office. She even recently had to "alphabetically" (abracabally) bring Tinubu Bola Ahmed to the front of the pack, to address the delegates at the primary elections, ahead of Amaechi Rotimi Chibuike, and take Osinbajo Oluyemi Oluleke to the last, Has anyone ever seen where T is ahead of A in alphabetical order? Or has anyone ever seen where Middle names are used for candidates' alphabetical ranking? All over the world, surnames are used to orderly arrange candidates, but aunti did what she had to do for them to recognize her. Despite all these magomago that she does every time for the APC, she is not considered worthy to be the deputy governorship candidate. She must continue to queue behind the the seniors there. May be when is 70 years old, they might consider her. |
The people you listed do not have any real power. In spite of their presence, the terrorists still come to churches undisguised and kill many people. They kill and walk away unchallenged by anybody. Those governors you listed only go there to sympathize (in some cases) and donate money. The money can't wake the dead. The money and sympathy cannot reclaim the territory already lost and settled in by terrorists. These happen even when the VP is a Christian; who incidentally jump on the next available plane to western capitals to tell them that there are no systemic cleansing of Christians in Nigeria. And you even saw what they did to the VP himself at the primary election of his own party. Wouldn't he have been offered the right of first refusal of his party’s presidential ticket if he was a Muslim? |
They have not done 0.001% of the tyranny of Buhari’s people. Buhari’s supporters even target people's livelihood. They destroy their opponents reputation and seek their downfall at their working place. Those who work under government are severely targeted. The Nation newspaper didn't see it fit to report or complain about such evil then. If anything is wrong with Obi's supporters now they certainly learn it from Buhari’s supporters, including the editorial board of the Nation. And they have not even reached anywhere near the vitriol of the Sai Baba people. At the height of the unfortunate praise singing and blind support for their candidate, Buhari’s supporters even called Jesus Christ unprintable names. You only need to check through the past editions of the Nation newspaper and the timelines of Buhari supporters' social media page to confirm the kind of evil and vile that pervaded that era. The Nation newspaper should be apologizing to Nigerians not calling anyone out for using what they learn from them. You can't teach people a strategy and then come out to complain that your students are applying what they learn from you. |
Does this now indicate that Yoruba Muslims are not Muslim enough? Does this mean that Yoruba Muslims have to "audit" their religion with their association with northern Muslims? |
Deborah98:Tithing is controversial, so to say, because it has not been comprehensively presented by many churches. They seem to be hiding the truth on tithes and offering because they fear that there won't be funds to run the church, at best. But it should not be that controversial. Giving is expressly explained in the Bible in simple and easy to understand language. Luke 11:42 Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint, rue, and every herb, but you disregard justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without neglecting the former. Jesus encouraged the payment of tithes. However, He didn't think that it is more important than Justice and Love of God. In other words, it should not be in isolation. It should not be seen as a bribe to get God's blessing. In this passage, one can actually be under a curse if tithing is not given in conjuction with Justice and Love of God. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. In this passage, Christians are encouraged to give according to what they purpose in their minds. This is the key. Some times, what a person settles in his or her mind is more important than any percentage. Pegging giving at 10% already erodes the notion of free will, it indicates compulsion. However, one can actually purpose in his or her heart to give 100% or 1% or any percentage for that matter. Mark 12:41 - 44 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on As noted by Jesus in the above passage, this woman's giving to the temple treasury was not based on tithe. She made sure she gave all she had as determined in her heart. Not by compulsion, no one rained any curses on her. She did it from her own free will. Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Giving is also rewarding. It is not in vain. Therefore, Christians are encouraged to give as much as they can, having at the back of their minds that they shall be compensated for their sacrifice. 2 Corinthians 9:5-6 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift, not as one grudgingly given. Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. These are some of the guides on giving in Christianity. |
slickbak:Do you have any form of formal education by any means? Have you come across words like ethics, ethical conduct, professional standards, moral values before? Free market does not mean there are no rules. Even war has rules. |
It's the same you lawyers that say ignorance is not an excuse in law. Spoilt kid being giving the street treatment. A whole partner of a leading law firm still saying my father, my mother everywhere. Make your own name. Stop living under your father and mother's shadows. People make mistakes in life and live with consequences, that's what makes us human. At a point in life you will have to answer your own name. Let these moments be the time for you. Daddy and mummy will even be proud of you for doing so instead of using their names to try and 'scare' your supposed adversaries. Meanwhile, this narrative from you says a lot about your character and calls to question your ability to work with people and your communication skills despite all the learning in Hull and Nottingham (if the story you told is true). How could you not have verified if a case is still active or not? How could you have used a language to mean that your firm uses unorthodox methods to get its way? Na wa o. |
paulemmy19:What more problems can be created than the current ones? Continue with your naivete. |
slickbak:Just sit there and be looking, ok. |
This is the right thing to do. The security forces cannot do it alone. Southwest governors should take a cue and not do any Yoruba diplomacy at this time. Diplomacy has not worked. Do what is necessary to protect your people. |
