Travel / Re: Why Is No One Talking About This In Nigeria by porka: 5:56pm On Aug 25, 2022
Diaspora Nigerian were rushing to come back home before the advent of this APC party.

There were massive reverse migrations to Nigeria. Many people came to establish businesses that employed thousands of youths. These happened specifically between 2001 - 2014.

All these were destroyed by APC.
Families have been destroyed. People's livelihoods have been completely wiped off. Couples divorcing everyday because of economic hardship. Teenage girls are openly embracing prostitution to survive. Teenage boys are openly scamming people, killing people to remove their body parts. And these are happening at alarming proportion. Able bodies men have lost confidence in themselves because of piles and piles of debt. People are daily taking their own lives.

Nigerians have been traveling for many years, but Nigerians have always had hope. Now, even people traveling do not have any hope where they are traveling to. They are just going there try their luck.

APC is the cause of the destruction of this society. The earlier you people admit this simple fact the better.

If APC is allowed to be rigged again in the coming elections it would appear that Nigerians are not humans. Even in nature, all organism run away from danger. No organism in nature embraces calamity.

APC is calamity. APC is evil.

He lost d ticket fine but humiliating further by saying all these trash will never help issues, this was the same mistake Jonathan made by listening to bamanga tukur when he said big wigs leaving Jonathan are inconsequential,I believe we all saw how it ended

People are skeptical of voting a Fulani before n these people are even creating more problem for atiku

I trust wike

That is the character of the PDP.

It is not a one-man party. It doesn't have any owner. No section or person or group of people is superior to any other. Nobody dominates anybody. Democracy is allowed to work in PDP.

Everybody asserts himself or herself and all opinions are respected while all grievances are treated as legitimate. Everyone is allowed to vent their anger and frustrations. No one shuts anyone down. All interests are accommodated and all insults are replied in kind.

That was how they got Nigeria's economy to number one in Africa. That was how they created the largest black middle-class in the entire world. That was how the economy blossom and grew in leaps and bounds. That was how they made Nigeria the largest destination of FDIs in Africa. That was how the people were given the chance for upward economic mobility.

PDP argues among itself (even fights) but the masses are paramount.

What do you have in the other party?

Other party's owners simply dictate to the owned. Owners must not be corrected or criticize. Even the public must be taught a bitter lesson if they dare say anything against the owners, otherwise, businesses and livelihoods will be destroyed, deaths and destruction will be unleashed.

And the results?

Total destruction of the Nigerian economy that took many years of hard work to put together.

And no one single party member can call the owners to order. No single party member, no matter the status, can criticize any decisions taken by the owners or call for readjustment of policies even if the whole country burns.

You used your influence to destroy Nigeria beyond repairs now.

You campaigned for Buhari, TWICE.
You campaigned for him as recently as 2019.

In 2014, it was your big grammar and insults that assisted them.

In 2019 they used you to ride in their train from Lagos to Ayetoro during campaigns to convince voters that they are doing well.

Prof, all these are part of your life now. They will be written about and against you. The deaths and destructions that came with it are also yours.

Politics / Re: 2023 Election Results Will Be Collated Manually – INEC by porka: 6:22pm On Aug 22, 2022
Philipmaxwell:

I commend your effort at trying to appear intelligent, but you are wrong. The collation of results has and will always be manual. The electronic platform has and will always be used as a corrective tool and not the main things.

We have laws governing elections, you know. As far as I know, the current law doesn't make room for the removal of manual collation in favour of using electronically transmitted result as collated results. The e-transmitted results will be used to confirm each and every single unit. So, inec is doing the right thing.

Why should inec depend on the transmitted result only when elections and results can be manipulated at the polling units. How then can we be sure we are not accepting rigged result and false figures? Abeg make una rest.

Nigerians will just keep looking for someone to blame for something, in advance of their possible failure

You are probably too young or new to public discourse.

It was precisely because of what you said in the bolded part that electronic accreditation and transmission of results were designed.

The reason was to prevent false figures from being recorded at the polling stations and at the collation centers.

Manual recording on a sheet of paper were found to be the main rigging tools of politicians. They input fictitious numbers and claim they have been voted. Another major area was addition of fictitious figures at the collation centers and declaring bogus figures.

But the recent Electoral Act took care of a major aspect of those. The law was used for the 2 recent elections in Ekiti and Osun with relative success and transparency.

It was the result of that transmission that someone was able to see the handwriting on the wall as early as 4pm and quickly left to attend an irrelevant meeting in Abuja.

Nobody has complained of the new system not working at this time. The loser in the recent election has not said anything about electronic transmission. The case they are filing at the tribunal didn't say anything about how the results were transmitted

Why then is Festus Okoye mentioning manual collation again? Why does he want us to go back to the old system when the new one has not shown any problem? He is not dumb, he is not stupid or mad. He is sane and has experience as a lawyer of many years standing. When you hear such things from such people, your instinct should tell you that there is a sinister, evil and dark motive behind it.

By the way, have you read INEC's response to the heavy backlash they received from the public? Did you read what they have to say? Read it and see your folly. And learn how to reason well before agreeing with government positions.

If everyone behaves like you and agrees with what the government says every time, don't you think you would be in one slave camp by now eating agbado and cassava?

Is any system error free? Absolutely not. But haven seen that the new system has shown an improvement on the old order, Nigerians would so stupid to fold hands and be watching like zombie when the umpire is betraying an agenda.

Halo22:
I don't know why it's difficult for most Nigerians to understand simple English. Votes will be transmitted electronically, but would be counted manually at the collation centre to confirm it's the same with the transmitted ones. Nah e dey hard for una to understand. We too get wahala for this country.

Dr. Einstein with full understanding, why is INEC putting emphasis on that at this time?

Have they not conducted elections with the said Electoral Act?

What did they not do then and suddenly found the reason to do now?

Why can't they simply refer to the two recently conducted elections in Ekiti and Osun as examples?

Did you even read the post you are making comments on?
Did you read what you typed before you posted it?
You said votes will be manually counted at the collation centres again.
Do you know what collation centres mean?
Do you know the logistics involved in recounting the votes again at the collation centres?

For the sake of your understanding, it is the results of the votes already counted and transmitted at various polling stations that are taken to the collation centres for manual addition.
Other words for collation are combine, accumulate, aggregate.

What INEC is saying is that they will still rely on the RESULTS WRITTEN IN A SHEET OF PAPER (FORMS) to do their collation.
They are saying that they would recourse to their electronically generated accreditation as a backup.

And that is where the problem lies.
There might not be any disputes and the results would be allowed to pass even if what is written in their so-called FORM is different from what they posted electronically.

Parties' agents could be bribed, coerced, intimidated, threatened with violence, chased away, injured etc. Officials and the security agents could be compromised.

Why can't they simply use the electronic results for the collation? That is the question.

Do you understand now?

Always make efforts to think for yourself anytime you read anything.
Agreeing with anything without making critical assessment makes you look gullible.

Learn to question things and make intelligent evaluation before agreeing, it will save you money, dignity and even your life.

This is it folks.

This is it.

No one monitors INEC and what they do there.
You were planning on voting, but INEC is planning on DECLARING THE WINNER.

After coming back from Kenya and seeing how the youths defeated the establishments there, INEC quickly started thinking of what to do.

Whatever strategy the youths are planning will come to nought if there is no INEC POLICING STRATEGY.

There should be a team entirely devoted to INEC POLICING.
If the youths really mean business they should take this advise.

Tweet, expose, reveal, monitor, raise alarm of INEC activities and pile sufficient legitimate pressure on them to do the right thing.
Don't just assume that things will be okay. Things will not okay if you don't make them okay.
Let them know you mean business.

If you think this INEC is ready for any credible election you are joking.
If you think this INEC will give room to free and fair electoral contests like they did in OSUN then you don't know what is coming.

Remember that this same INEC woke up on the very EVE of the elections in 2019 to postpone the elections by a week to disenfranchise millions of voters who had to travel back to their jobs and never return back to vote.
Remember?

He wasn't born any gay, he is very sick. Homosexuality is a psychiatric disorder that the rulers of the developed world are promoting as natural. Sick people need treatment.

It is because it involves sex that they are trying to make it normal. The world leaders worship sex a lot. Homosexuality inclination is not different from someone craving to steal other people's property called kleptomania.

Other sickness are currently being promoted as normal such as pedophilia and incest. There is currently a movement to normalize crazy people sleeping with infants. They are calling themselves Minor Attracted Persons.

You would see them promoting such sickness at the wider level in coming years. They are already saying that the word pedophile is offensive and hurting them.

At that time, just like the sickness of homosexuality has been turned to fancy and fad, even those who are not sick would want to participate in the madness because they want to do what it is in vogue. They will entice many with money and visa to come and be sweeping their country for a living.

Why does MIT make you do a swim test?

MIT requires all undergraduate students, in order to earn a bachelors degree, to

Either pass a 100 yard swim test (jumping into the pool feet first), Or to take two PE swim classes. I took the two PE swim classes
Earn eight PE points. There are two PE class sessions per semester and one in the January IAP, and each class is worth two points. Playing an intercollegiate sport in the Fall or Spring is two points and playing an intercollegiate sport in the Winter is four points.

MIT has two fundamental philosophies when it comes to this subject:

Mind and Body: It is difficult to improve one without improving the other
One should learn to “deal with water” since roughly 75% of the Earth’s surface is covered in water and MIT is situated along a river

One does Not need to pass the swim test.

Just Do It.

Easy.

For the past decade or so, Tinubu has been appearing in the public once in a while and disappears for a long while. That is clearly a sign of infirmity.

Any time you see him in public for a day or at most four days, be rest assured that it would take another three months before he appears in the public again.

Because he was a private citizen, his health issues necessitating the appearance and disappearances didn't matter, but as soon as he signified his intention to run for public office, those disappearances have become a public concern.

Even now, can you remember the last time Tinubu was seen in the public? Have you seen Tinubu in the public in the last one week? The reality is that such is a recipe for total collapse of the nation. Imagine what would come from the 'presidency' everyday on behalf of the president.

Don't take my word for it, just begin to observe from now on. Anytime he does one public function, he would need a very long rest to recoup the energy expended.

Organizations require their prospective employees to undergo medical tests to ascertain their fitness for the job; if all manner of medical tests are carried out because of a 9-5 job, how much more for a 24 hour presidential job description.

He is simply infirm. He should not be considered for the high office.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala wrote in her book that Donald Duke brought a message from his group to her in her office in New York that she should not accept Jonathan’s offer of appointment because they (his group) didn't want Jonathan’s government to succeed.

Who are the members of Donald Duke's group that sabotaged Jonathan’s government? Why did they do that? Who sent them? Whose interests were they serving?

Politics / Re: Fact Check: Between Jakande And Tinubu, Who Developed Lagos? by porka: 1:10am On Aug 06, 2022
Meanwhile some governors in the north, south south and southeast built modern airports from the scratch to finish without any collaboration with the federal government or the World Bank and with far less revenue than Lagos. The airport in Lagos is still the one built by the federal government many years ago.

Many states built brand new functional universities, but LASU was built in 1982 by Alhaji Lateef Jakande. They couldn't even maintain it. At a point, more than 30 programmes in LASU failed NUC accreditation. They only recently upgraded two institutions that were built many years ago into universities. Just recently.

Since 1999, some governors with less 'IGR' have built state of the art stadia for their states. Nothing of such has been constructed in Lagos; the same state with massive 'IGR' o.

Lagos BRT lane was on existing Ikorodu road that the military built in the 1970s. They just erected embankment to demarcate two lanes from the ten lane already built by Yakubu Gowon and called it achievement. It's like someone carving out a room and decorating it in his father's house only to go and boast to his friends that he has built a house.

They added one lane each to both sides of the four lane Lekki Epe Expressway that Alhaji Lateef Jakande built in the Second Republic. The added lanes don't even cover the entire stretch that they met there, yet they tolled it. On top of that, they will still claim private property development in Lekki as part of their achievements.

Security is in collaboration with companies operating in the state, with each company contributing to security funds periodically. Public schools are 'adopted' by private entities for renovation and refurbishment. All these in a state with huge 'IGR' o.

What exactly have they done in Lagos to warrant these hype?

The light rail they started in 2008 is still under construction 14 years later, but in every four years they must bring pictures of trains in foreign countries to claim achievement. Pictures for this year's campaign are currently being photoshopped right now, you will soon see them.

The Lekki Deep Sea Port is co-owned with the federal government and a private investor.

Politics / Re: Key Points To Learn Specially From The US Economy - The Nigeria Economist by porka: 4:29pm On Aug 03, 2022
It is important to expand the scope of this discourse in order to avoid assumptions such as the one that brought us to this parlous state by the APC. All manners of nonsensical things were peddled before and tested after the APC took over in 2015, which have all turned out SPURIOUS.

The main reason is the DOLLAR! All other reasons are secondary. The US is the foremost capitalist economy, so it's natural for those capitalistic tendencies you listed. The US dollar is the world reserve currency: About $6.7 trillion is held across the world in reserve. It is backed by the US Treasuries, considered to be the safest paper assets. Also, major world commodities are traded in dollars. Oil for instance is a major natural resource that the whole of humanity depends on.

Because of these, the US prints its currency for the whole world to use without much threat of inflation due to printing of money. In return, the United States of America issues bonds (credit to fund its economy), which are subscribed with countries reserves and private sector savings across the world.

They are therefore able to raise credit cheaply and perpetually (albeit measurably). The US literally printed billions and billions of dollars and distributed to their idle workforce during COVID-19 lock-down. There is no country in the entire world that has that kind of advantage.

Attempts to copy and paste the same by the Nigerian managers with donor funds resulted in massive stealing and wicket hoarding of food that some Nigerians were supposed to eat from few days. Invariably, the US dollar's behemoth status supports production and innovations in no way any other country can attempt.

It also supports the credit system which itself supports internal consumption: internal consumption prevents the country from being taken hostage by externalities as Nigeria's economy would be subjected to. It supports independence of thoughts and risk taking. You could practically start a firm in the US to produce "your idea" with other people's money, which itself could well be pieces of paper asset. The mortgage system allows you to purchase a home as early as possible in your career and your skills are compensated adequately.

So before you open a thread and start suggesting that people earning less than $100 a month not to be paid sick leave, you better get an understanding of the background of the economies you are comparing. We have to start the advocacy in time before they come in 2023 and start using Nigerian workers as lab rats for unworkable ideas.

All the assets created incrementally in the past, both public and private, have been squandered by APC. All this happened because of poorly thought-out policies. JUST IMAGINE the so-called financial superstars and economic voodoo doctors boasting about electricity generation, infrastructure this infrastructure that without a single second thought about where the funds would come from.
