Tafe is just like polythenics here. Majority of the people applying here are graduates but considering the amount to either Bsc or Msc which can be expensive. Some opted for this tafe. And according to jenny. You can apply for PR after 2 years of study in aus. This is why u see people struggling to get a 2yr package course. Now to the graduate visa.

ferdimako: DIAC doesn't accept TOEFL for PR.It's only IELTS or OET.But you can use IELTS GT or Academic and TOEFL for student visa application.

Well,all my offers were conditional pending IELTS and ETI means Education and Training International it is for western australia. MSIT means Metropolitan South Institute of Tafe and my study would be in loganlea.

I stand to be corrected pls,to the best of my knowlege,I think u can use TOEFL its one of d english proficiency test. I think IELTS is just preferable for australia,uk,ireland etc. TOEFL is mainly for the USA n canada I guess. But none of these discriminates against each other. They only prefer theirs. So u tend to hear IELTS more often here cos its for aus. Try n google wollongong for its population,if its less than 40k then its regional. I hope I m able to answer little.

Well, I'll be going first. Then they will apply later,my boys are 5 n 2 resp. if they are granted fine and if not they will wait until I can gt my PR. All d pressure is on him.(He's my sponsor) so we can't go altogether now cos of money. My hubby believes that when I'm gone I should be able to make more enquiries. Which I also believe. I'll be applying for visa by oct or nov by d grace of God. Sure I'll let u know abt my decision but right now ETI is d most considerate(less than 20k). I'll keep u posted.

I'm aware,but do u knw of any other requirements I shld be scared of.
I know d following:
1. IELTS band 7 in all or OET grade B in all
2. Medical assessment,TB or any contagious disease
3. Children chk
4. Criminal records
5. Police clearance from naija
6. Registration with d nursing bodies NMBA
(which can be done 4-6wks prior to d completion of d course)
7. Clinical work placement of 440hr or 220hrs

All these I know. Do u knw of any other requirements please. Knowledge is power.

No mimi, 7 in all bands of IELTS general or academic but d former is said to be easier than d latter. So general is preferable. With God on my side,I plan to start IELTS as soon as I start my course so that before d end I would have their requirement(at worst) since its valid for 2 years. I might just enroll into a centre for the training. It cost less in Oz than naija.

Amen o, thts why I'm also waiting for tastafe to know their package too. Some schools like tafesa gave me package with textbooks(not all txtbks sha) and nursing kits for $800 so pls take all those into considerations too.

I'm only considering tastafe because lanceston is regional. I'll be paying for the cert and part of d diploma before I leave. I have offers from ETI,TafeSa,MSIT,and the bremer inst. All in cert+nursing, so I have 2 years. Hopefully by d grace of God, the PR will follow. Its well.

When jenny was here she used to advocate for nursing over community service. But to the best of my knowledge. I stand to be corrected, the 2 are interwoven almost the same. Social worker works for the community. Therefore social worker is under d dept of community service. Its not vice versa, a social worker help in family support,they also help people with domestic violence etc. Community service is the mother of them all,now social work,youth care,child safety and disability so many of them are under community serv. . .
Just what I knw. Someone else might have another meaning.
I was also on d verge of applying for social work and youth blablabla.
But jenny said "anyone interested in community develop should rather go for nursing" and so I am for nursing now. Had 3 letters of offer already. Just waiting for tastafe and my IELTS before I proceed.

@ all, after my CoE, do I need to have d rest of d fees in my sponsors acct or its just the $18610 and my flight fare?

manmeta: Write the first three lines. Find the average no. of words for those three lines. That would be your average per line. Use that to calculate the no. of lines you're going to write. It's not a problem if you shoot more than these by additional 3 to 5 lines.

For example, if your average for the first three lines is 8 words per line, then for a 150-word essay, your total no. of lines would be about 20. You can make that like 25 to cater for paragraphs.

@Zoe its better you count your words, don't depend on pages.its better to be more than to be less. try and count per words. i have forgotten how my teacher taught me to count words of essay back then. so i count word by word now.

If your payment is successful, you will have assess to a-30 hr free online training in all the 4 sections of the exam. Furthermore, you will be able to use your email and the ref no to check your portal at anytime and also to check your results after all.

Here are the steps i took to get myself booked for the exam, i hope it helps

2. ENTER our country Nigeria. (lol) you will see upcoming dates and modules
3. Read and Scroll down, click the BOOK ONLINE BUTTON

5. A declaration page will be shown and u click to agree -then click continue
6. Fill in your details (please be careful while filling, i made a mistake then but thank God it wasn't costly)
7. after all these steps you can either pay online through GTbank Debit card. i actually paid offline at their office in Lagos and the confirmation page was printed out for me.

i took along with me, a recent passport photograph and the photocopy of my international passport.

That's all, easy steps isn't it? be safe

result in the award of a bachelor degree or any higher degree, diploma, advanced diploma, or trade qualification
be closely related to your nominated occupation
be conducted in English
be at least two academic years (92 weeks) duration
be lawfully completed in no less than 16 months
be completed in Australia.
my question is if 2 academic year is 92 weeks and and you most complete your study no less then 16 months, and ur school uses 18weeks in each semester for 2 years study. how do you calculate that?

I stand to be corrected but as I've read every 18months tafe course is 72weeks and that's one and half year. You have to combine ur tafe diploma with an adv. Diploma in order to make up the 92 weeks u said. The adv. Diploma is mostly 6months. And that's additional 24 weeks. Making 72+24=96weeks. I'm not sure what u mentioned abt d 16 months is accurate cos its not possible. Just follow what u have read on this forum and make sure u digest it well. Anyway that's my plan towards PR. Diploma+adv. Diploma.
