Since it's time for facts let me state my fact I'm a Nysc corper presently serving in benue state. Something happened in my school where I teach. A teacher sent his wife to look after his farm in anyim 2 weeks ago. One night some group of fulani herdsmen came to their room and brought the women and sliced the man's wife face with a knife for no reason at all. this man is just a pri sch teacher with six kids, as am speaking 2 u, the woman is still in the hospital. Last friday we were discussing this issue in d staff room and I got to find out that even d catholic church in my community is housing refugees in d church. I was furious telling dem that hw can foreigners come and drive them from their own home and no one is doing anything abt it. Thank God for fayose. Would love to say more and reveal more but....
Thank you buddy.

Buhari and impunity. This is why we all have to condemn acts of impunity and human rights violations by any government agency against any Nigerian. The government must follow due process in all things.

Which respect are you talking about here? Buhari allowed these people to insult our minister of finance. Did you look at the pictures of the American female officials posted by the op? Did you see any of them wearing scarf? This is a big shame. I hope someone at the senate says something about this.

BLAMING THE PRESIDENT WILL NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS IS WHY WE CONDEMN BIAFRA AND NNAMDI KANU BECAUSE HE WAS ALSO GROOMING A TERRORIST GROUP CALLED "IPOB" AND IF HE WASN'T ARRESTED AND LOCKED UP, HIS TERRORIST GROUP WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE DEADLIER THAN THE HERDSMEN COS HE WAS BRAIN WASHING HIS GULLIBLE RECRUITS ON RADIO BIAFRA.

I think Fayose should be appointed as the Chairman of the PDP as well as their spokesman. This man truely has what it takes to be in an opposition party.

Fayose just spoke what has been in the heart of many Nigerians. The collective plan of the North and the modus operandi of Muhammadu Buhari has been well documented in the political discussion of Nigerians and we are aware of all their antics.

A thousand likes for Fayose....a.k.a Buhari's nightmare
If Fayose wasn't a governor, he would have been the most qualified to be PDP chairman. He is the man.

The problem we youths have is reading and understanding. The commandant stated that they cant be EXPELLED cause there is a time frame according to their law in the camp. Also didnt you read where he said they have been punished.
He never said the abused person cant sue them in a civil court.
Note that the military has its own laws and soldiers are tried in a military cout (court-martial)
So the abused person should sue them if he isnt satisfied with the military punishments.

Dont let your hate for military influence your understandings.
And you believe him when he said they have been punished?
PoliticsRe: "Why We Cannot Expel Cadets Who Tortured Man For Complimenting Female Officer" by poseidon12: 3:51pm On Feb 27, 2016
I think the National Assembly should get involved in this case. This General needs to be invited to the senate to explain why he feels that Nigerian soldiers are above the law.

You think Buhari does not know about the incessant abuse of civilians by Nigerian soldiers? Buhari himself would probably encourage it. We are all aware how he has been disobeying court orders and violating the civil rights of some accused persons.

...Interesting.

This is the silliest excuse I've ever read from a government agency. Are they by implication saying that members of the armed forces are above the law even when they are caught (with evidence) in unauthorised acts?
People should be made to face the maximum consequences for their inhuman acts.
For your information, the average Nigerian soldier believes he/she is above the law. They are a bunch of thugs. There are few exceptions though.
PoliticsRe: "Why We Cannot Expel Cadets Who Tortured Man For Complimenting Female Officer" by poseidon12: 3:33pm On Feb 27, 2016
Story. This General should just keep quiet. Our soldiers are just thugs. We need an enlightened, civilized president who will put the military in their place and let them understand their place in a democracy.
There should be zero tolerance for the violation of anyone's civil rights, military or civilian.
PoliticsRe: Kanu: We’re More Nigerian Than Any Other Tribe- Ohaneze Ndigbo by poseidon12: 9:56am On Feb 27, 2016
Now they are talking. We should not allow some misguided, jobless youths plunge our region into crisis. People should keep themselves busy with productive activities.
Who knows, Nnamdi Kanu may be getting sponsorship from some dubious elements who do not wish the Southeast well.
Of course things are really messed up in Nigeria and I believe that Nigeria would eventually disintegrate if we do not restructure into federal system or confederacy. But we should never be foolish enough to be leading the charge for that break up after our experience with the last attempt by my beloved and revered hero Odumegwu Ojukwu.
If and when Nigerians as a group decide to go their separate ways, every group will find its level.

Keep quiet there. Every Nigerian has a fundamental right to life. The military have no right whatsoever to kill innocent, unarmed civilians. Does he need to be commander in chief of the armed forces for him to condemn the killings and demand justice? What has your commander in chief done in response to the killings? He is the governor of the state and the military must inform him before they carry out any operation in his state.

Nigeria cannot experience lasting peace and prosperity without addressing the root cause of armed insurgency, and civil unrest.

After you visit Abuja and compare it with say Oyibo in River state, you'll understand that the insurgency was only postponed and not solved.

It will always be a recurring phenomenon, unless poverty and unfair wealth distribution is addressed in the region
Political restructuring into a true federal system as agreed in the national conference, and complete resource control is the solution to our problem. Unfortunately we have a tribalist, arrogant and short-sighted man as the president. Buhari will destroy Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Defeating Boko Haram Will Be A Long Fight – US by poseidon12: 12:07am On Feb 23, 2016
Litmus:
Indeed, USA, if you have anything to do with it wink

Nigeria Administration is making too many mistakes. Below are a few of my current picks in relation to Bokoharam and others to come... .

Mistake NO 1): Buhari's Need for American support in contrast to Johnathan's appeal to China .

The consequence of the above informs mistake NO 2, for instance.

Mistake NO 2): Changing the narrative of Bokoharam from funded terrorists to insurrection due to unemployment.

America always wanted this Narrative. Hillery Clinton refused to label Bokoharam a terrorist organization. One of the reasons the West likes this narrative is because it leads to the prolongation of conflict in Africa. No society and especially not in the developing world will every provide enough employment. In Nigeria, where there are no border controls, this situation will even be worst than elsewhere. Insurrection informed by some cockamimi notion of unemployment is perfect cover for those who would fund endless wars in Africa that are financially rewarding for all sorts of Western concerns.

Mistake NO 3): Not funding the military.

This is the biggest mistake of all because a well funded, professional and sophisticated army in a third world nation as complex, dynamic and rich as Nigeria allows the government scope to make mistakes and gives them time to learn from those mistakes. Nigeria does not currently possess a strong army. One proof of this is the rise and alarming rate at which Bush people with names like those we saw in Liberia and Sierra Leone are popping up in Nigeria. Names like General Playboy and General Massacre (Kai, Nigeria don suffer). When such names appear and one or two persons feel bold enough to threaten an entire nation like Nigeria then you can be sure that you don't have an Army or security apparatus and you are living in a Banana Republic. Don't let anyone fool you otherwise.

Without a professional, modern Army, Egypt and Algeria would be long gone as Nigeria will be soon if the politicians don't wake up and put the Nation ahead of themselves. Fund the Army, please, let us have no more prevaricating on superposed embezzled military monies. The waste of life and disruption of an entire nation just to hammer home the superposed incompetency of a former regime and opposition party is scant reward.
You are right on point. Nigerians are generally too trusting of the U.S. government. They don't realize the U.S. government does not have good intentions for the sub Saharan Africa.

Who says those are the highest rates in Africahuh In Cameroon I pay the equivalent of 35 N/Kwh... Sometimes higher than that, because the higher your consumption the higher your per unit charge. That is not even the end of the story. 19.25% (Tax) of my consumption is again added to my consumption. I have been on this forum for so many years and can categorically say most Nigerians complain over everything. I could not help laughing when people were complaining on a 50N charge by CBN..LOL 11 cubes of sugar costs 50N in Cameroon..
Just being curious. How is the electricity situation in Cameroun? Do you have constant light or anything close to it?
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Pay Highest Tariff Per Kilowatt In Africa’ by poseidon12: 4:07pm On Feb 22, 2016
Akainzo:
You guys are confusing ESTIMATED BILLING with Actual cost of Electricity! If the 9hrs of electricity you used in the month is computed at the 16.5/KwH, even if you were to put on 30 ACs and use 20KW each hour, you be paying 20 x 16.5 x 9, which is N2,970.00

But as normal, your Disco will charge you an ESTIMATE OF PROJECTED USAGE, which could, and usually is, crazier than your actual cost. To help yourself, get a Pre-Paid Meter to ensure you ONLY pay for the hours of electricity that you enjoy.
The DISCOs are deliberately not giving out prepaid meters. If they issue every customer a prepaid meter, they can not make enough to pay monthly salary. That is why they make it frustratingly difficult and expensive to get one. A staff at EKEDC told me that it would take 6 months to get one. And that is after paying about 60,000 Naira for the meter that they are required to supply for free.
It is irresponsible of this government to allow these DISCOs to be stealing from the citizens.

adipemcanis1:
Sorry to rain on your parade guys.....but

It is GEJ.....your dear GEJ'S fault.

GEJ privatised the power sector.....meaning that prices had to go up, because government is no longer funding the power sector anymore. So the DISCOS had to get money....and it had to be tarrif raises.

Plus....the increase was a part of the agreement with the DISCOS signed when GEJ was in power.

So...stop blaming Fashola. He has nothing to do with this.

Wailers.....it is never their fault....even when it is.
You left out the part of the agreement with Jonathan's government that required the DISCOs to provide prepaid meters for customers. Buhari's government needs to ensure that the DISCOs provide meters before any increase in tariff is allowed. That is the part where Fashola should be blamed. Or do you want Jonathan to come back to enforce that requirement?
